Hello Nexus 6P users.
I want to lock my LTE band to 3 or 5 because of good signal strength and I was using an app called Network Signal Guru with my previous device Sony Xperia Z5 and everything was working normal, but on Nexus 6P, Google have blocked the access to radio image to modify the settings.
So I searched on the Internet and found this Guide
But there were warnings that I may end up having no signal so is there any safe method to do this and if any one have tried that guide?
Guide - Locking Network bands on Nexus 6P
I already had motherboard replacement once which took 20 days and I don't want to take risk on that again without confirmation.
Please let me know if there is any other method or if someone already tried that guide.
Thanks.
Edit: I went ahead and tried the engineering radio.img file from the Guide link I mentioned above and now I can lock the bands on my Nexus 6P running ABC rom on latest build.

Wanting to lock jio? We are in the same boat...And I've already flashed that Engineered radio few days back via fastboot but the band locking option still didn't come in the app... But there's a friend of me who also did the same thing and he got the band locking option unlocked in the app...and successfully locked his jio band to 3.. now he totally fixed his band fluctuations between 3 and 5 and signal drops... Maybe you could too give it a try... I've a flashable zip also if you want to flash from twrp.. but better would be the fastboot method...

is there any possibility of this working for those who do not have a network signal on the device? I am in Brazil and the signal does not appear, it is always "without service"

Hi guys,
first I'm sorry for creating a new Thread but I'm not allowed do reply to the tutorial thread, because I'm below 10 posts.
ok.
I rooted my Xperia Play according to this Tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1043630
But now the signal is worse than before. I tried to update, but it was not possible anymore because of the modification.
Can anyone help me to restore the original firmware?
Not root you mean bootloader unlock?

yes i unlocked the bootloader and installed that new rooted image.
so is there a way to undo it? so that i get a better signal again...

Nothing you have done should of impacted on the radio. Maybe a local antenna is down?

I have a Nexus 4, android version 4.2.2, rooted and unlocked using WugFresh's nexus 4 root toolkit v1.6.3 I am using a NET10 at&t unlimited SIM.
I want to see which frequency band (850 or 1900) AT&T is using in my area so I can buy the correct high gain antenna for my repeater.
I dial #*#*4636#*#* to get the phone info menu. I then hit the menu button and hit "Select Radio Band" When I do this, I get the following error message "unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped"
I get this error whether or not I hit "turn radio off" and wait for it to turn off before I try to select radio band.
I have read tons of threads on this forum and elsewhere. I see that other people have this problem, but they never get an answer or a solution. Any idea what's going on here and how to fix it?
Update: I called Google Play support. I spoke to two reps because my call dropped on the first. They were both friendly but useless. The second rep said she'd email me some helpful info on this problem. All she sent was the same list of specs you'd get by googling "nexus 4 specs"

I'm not sure what "dirty flashed" means. It shipped with 4.2.1. I rooted and unlocked it using wugfresh's nexus root toolkit (sorry, the forum software won't let me post a link)
I then updated to 4.2.2 through the phone itself and then re-rooted using wugfresh's toolkit.
Yes. it has been broken on every Nexus 4 version. 4.2 - 4.2.2.
Someone did fix it on 4.2.1. with a modified CM build. I can't find it at the moment.
FYI, ATT uses 850/1900 bands for hspa
EDIT: Found it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130627

Thanks, but I'm trying to find out which one of those two my phone is using at my particular location. I already have a dual band repeater, but I want to know which high gain external antenna to get before I spend the hundred bucks. 850 and 1900 call for different antennas.

Later in that thread somebody claims that Xylonmod has also incorporated the fix. I'll try it out tomorrow (I have to let it download at night because I'm on Hughesnet)
Hey guys having a bit of problems. I tried the LTE enabler since we have it where I live now. I got the zip from a popular thread in the general section, I asked in there but figured this warranted it's own thread. I had no bars, so I switched back to the latest radio and now I'm permanently stuck with zero cell reception of any kind. I've tried everything I can think of to fix it, I flashed a new ROM, restored a backup, I even flashed the stock image from Google, and did each piece individually in a terminal, so I know I flashed the radio and I'm STILL not getting any service.
Today, I went into Telus to get a new sim card because I thought that was the problem, but that didn't help at all.
Please don't tell me I'm screwed. And yes I did try the disable zip multiple times.
I've attached screenshots of my APN and mobile network settings. Trying to join the network results in an error message.
Anyone? Would greatly appreciate some help as I'm stumped and this is my only phone.

My apologies if I was unclear in my original post, I've tried that. Multiple times.
i followed this thread, and LTE worked like a champ. Though i did not stay on a stock ROM, u personally used DirtyUnicorn rom, but still followed steps to edit the build.prop manuall, and flashed the radio .33. You must use the correct apn's. For US T-Mobile, there is a old epc.tmobile.com apn that does not get LTE reception even if you have a lte equipped device, i had to use the fast.t-mobile.com apn, im sure Telus has an updated apn as well.
http://hippowise.com/how-to-permanently-enable-lte-on-android-4-2-2-nexus-4/
BTW, i dont think it matter what android version your in, cause when i did this, i was on a stock 4.2.2 and it worked, and then i flashed over to the DU ROM, and made the same edits since i used a new rom, and it worked perfectly again. Make sure to press *#*#4636#*#* once all is set said and done and put the netowrk setting to LTE/GSM auto-prl. Not sure why the option for LTE/WCDMA/GSM is not available, maybe someone could help with that one???????
One thing most people forget is that your provider plays a big part in your LTE service. If your sim/account is not provisioned for LTE you will never get it.... period. IN my case I came from an android phone that had no LTE support so it was never provisioned on my account(att). And since the nexus wasent shipped with LTE support or part of att' s LTE phone lineup...they refuse to add LTE support for my nexus. The only way for me to get LTE provisioned on my sim is for me to buy an att LTE compatable phone....then I could just use the sim in my nexus. Try flashing a stock Google image, see if it helps.

Once you select automatic band with the rom I built you can flash whatever you want. The change remains permanent regardless of what rom are you going to flash afterwards (atleast for nexus 5x and nexus 6p)

This needs to be stickied. There a lot of people with this issue. I've been telling people to use Chroma to get it working again. It looks like this ROM has more options tho.

Well I got stuck with this issue after traveling overseas. I already had a sim, but got no signal when I put it in upon arrival. Of course I pressed every button and changed every setting, who doesn't? Well it turns out the sim had expired and that was the original issue. It went downhill from there when I couldn't get any sim to work in my phone and had to revert to my backup OnePlus.
I've updated to the newest image, but I doubt there is any change that fixed this issue. Is there any way we can get this going without flashing another rom? I tried to get QPST going but didn't have any luck with driver setup.
The other question is how do you know it's fixed BEFORE traveling overseas again?
anybody success get band back to automatic after flash this rom?
pretty desperate as no technical service for 6p in my country,
flashed rom, multiple crashes, able to change radio to auto, still no signal. anyone?
This worked for me, 6p LTE signal drops. Before i Flashed rom, found the mm29m vendor image on afh, flashed rom, open gapps, vendor, rebooted. Had bunch of fc's but struggled to set everything up. Force stopped setup wizard. Logged into google.
Then did a factory reset. Earlier today on stock and on roms 4 lte drops, after flashing this, no more
Edit update:
Day 2 of no drops. Flashed 2 ROMs and all is well.
BEFORE I FOUND THIS FIX, I was losing LTE about every 3 hours, nothing fixed it. Flashed STK on toolkit, airplane mode, dialer codes, nothing.
Thanks OP!!
I am using a Moto X Pure XT1575. So sorry for my question not in the right place.
I have the same mistake to press USA band in *#*#4636#*#* and try many way to fix the problem. But, it is not completely work, I have 2G but lost 3G now.
I see that there is a thread in Moto X Pure about the Pure Nexus - Clark developing now:
forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/development/rom-aosp-pure-nexus-clark-t3337479
@bitdomo: My questions is Can we modify this rom above Purenexus -Clark to make a Rom with Auto Band same as what you did for Nexus? If yes, please instruct/help to make this rom.
Thank you
Hi,
I have a Lenovo vibe k6 note stock rom on Android 7.0.
Calls are working perfectly in Jio 4G (volte).
Recently I switched to Vodafone 4G (no volte).
When I try to place calls, the device is not falling back to 3G. I am unable to switch the network to 3G or 2G manually also. However 2G works when I change my primary data Sim.
I tried swapping the sim slots, toggling enhanced 4G services, restoring the device software, changing sim cards, replacing my sim card, the same problem persists.
I am using this sim with Lumia 640 XL LTE now. This issue is not present with other phones.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Swarnakanti,
I had tried that and was of no use. I tried to reset the modem setting via fastboot, lost IMEI. Finally I had to reburn the IMEI and WiFi address with QFIL and restore the baseband. I've put the method for the same on a different thread, please share the thread with others too, there are a lot of people with the same issue.

Issue is solved, baseband has to be restored.
Please check out this thread if you run into any issues.
