I have a rooted stock AT&T GT 7, and it doesn't connect to the PC no matter what I do, not as a hard drive, not through Kies, nothing. It charges, provided I plug the cable (with OEM wall plug) into the Tab while the screen is turned off (otherwise if screen is on, the wall connection registers as a red x like a data connection). SO I can charge it... but I can't connect to the PC.
Like I said, it's rooted.. is there a way to flash a custom ROM without being connected to the PC? As in using an SD card to bring files to the Tab and doing everything that way?
CWM. If you never flashed it then no, you're screwed.

Did you try a different pc?
Did you check applications >development >USB debugging?
maybe there is something wrong with the cable, try different one
try connecting it with download mode while you are running odin, if odin recognized it then your problem is solved, flash any kernel with CWM (overcome) then you can continue flashing system from sdcard using CWM

Wifi copy with ES Explorer or another. Then just boot into CMW. If no CMW then use mobile Odin to flash files via the Odin/heimdall method.

take out the sd card and use it directly to your pc with an adapter and copy the files then put it back to the tab and flash it?

Except... there's no response from WinXP when I plug in... no "dun-DUN!".... I strongly suspect the cable and ordereda replacement from Ebay yesterday; I should have it by Monday or Tuesday.

Hmmm.... "or another" you mean like Root Explorer? I have Root Explorer and am quite comfortable using it... what is mobile Odin? And is there a way to out CWM on without cable?
I really hope it is just the cable... I have a current full warranty on this thing, but that will be a major hassle.
Hi guys,
I am seriously in agony!
I am new to Android so I am not very well around with adb...
First thing first, I accidently wiped internal storage, my rom and everything....
now i am stuck in recovery (TWRP) and fastboot and want to know if there is anyway i can install a rom or send the rom file to my phone...
Right now my phone seems to be not recoginized by the computer.
Please where do i start? Really appreciate your help!
(hope we had an external hard drive - it wouldn't have been such a big deal..)
You are going to have to use fast boot to flash you system.IMG and boot.IMG into place. Use this guide found in the stickies above your post.

You don't necessarily have to flash back factory stock system image. You can send the rom file directly to the internal storage of the device by using ADB or ADB sideload while in TWRP.
Never tried it, but I see it in the TWRP menu ("external storage") - put your ROM file on a USB key and attach to the N7 with an OTG cable.
The above respondent's suggestion (adb) will also work too. Paradoxically, Windows seems to be the most difficult platform to get this done, especially Windows 8.

Update 3-25-2012
I tried this with an older version of TWRP (2.4.1.0) and it worked just fine. 8 GB USB uSD card in a card reader on an OTG cable - VFAT formatting, no other partitions present
cheers

Yup, this guy helped me out with my issue. Get a flash drive and get an OTG cable (you can get it here http://www.amazon.com/eForCity-Micr...=1364349138&sr=1-3&keywords=otg+cable+nexus+7 for a buck and a half, free shipping. Download cyanogenmod on it, then go to install from fastboot, then select install from external storage, and install the mod. VoilĂ .

Hello from south korea
I have a twrp 2.6.3.0 installed d802 G2 and I accidently wiped my internal sd card so my device only boot to twrp not OS.
I tried to mount but I can only find exclamation mark on device manager which means I cannot use adb, fastboot, adb sideload, flash recovery what so ever..
I've been searching xda forum for about 10 hours and still get no results. I formatted, wiped, factory resetted, tried to install superSU(but won't work)
I think i've tried basically everything I can try.
Any suggestions? please help.
Can't get into download mode also,,
pushed volume up button and plugged usb -> boot to twrp
pushed volume down button and plugged usb -> boot to twrp
pushed both volume buttons and plugged usb -> boot to twrp
It gets me crazy and still stuck on here.. I think my phone is real bricked..
any suggestions?

This is not a solution. Even if he downloads the ROM, how is he going to transfer it to the phone when TWRP can't mount as USB storage?

Buy a usb otg cable and use a thumbdrive or better, get a microusb thumbdrive like this one:
http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcT7zE663nePyE27qqA93qyLeZnQyFOWSuz4zbWwm2IdUna2lIDP2w&t=1
Place the image of whatever and mount it? Just a thought
Perhaps by connecting the cable mentioned above would allow you to get into download mode and then heading in this direction: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2471370

Do you have the UTG cable connected? Have you tried connecting it at different points of the process?
(Just throwing out ideas here....)
You could try PMing jkang (the OP) to ask him specifically what he did.

what's the difference between UTG & OTG Cable? if these are the same , yes, I test my OTG Cable on another device [SAMSUNG Note 2] and it's work...
I had the same problem over the weekend. I wiped my entire phone from twrp, and the usb mass storage from the otg cable was not working for any of my usb sticks. I had no way to put files onto my computer.
But, then I used twrp's android adb sideload and managed to get clearn rom xe 1.1 onto my device. Then I used twrp to install the clean rom onto my device.
Took me like 6 hours to fix it. Adb sideload might be a good option for you.
I'm in the same boat.
USB OTG doesn't connect though, I chose install in TWRP, but I don't see my USB drive.

Will you please point to the source of your TWRP which can support OTG.
I have tried a few but no support.
Thanks.
Hi there,
So I did something really stupid and I wiped my phone while in recover mode trying to install a new ROM. And now I'm stuck with a useless phone that can only go into TWRP and Firmware Update Mode.
I've tried every method to unbrick my phone, and have a previous thread on this forum trying to get help (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48914581#post48914581), but nothing is working.
My question now is I'm running TWRP 6.3.2.2, If I buy a USB OTG cable and put my rom files on a USB thumbdrive, can I then install the rom from the usb? If so, where in the filesystem does this usb storage show up?

I believe only TWRP 2.6.3.4 can support OTG (I've been happy with it).
I think you may have to ADB push the files from PC over while in recovery (may need to look around).
Hello,, I have a galaxy s4 running on Omega rom,, and my usb porn doesnt work,
I did a factory reset to find that ALL the apps crash on startup
If the usb porn was working I would have just flashed the stock firmware,, but any operation that needs USB is impossible
Can you please help me? Isnt there a solution?
** It's USB port , not USB porn **
What exactly do you mean by that?
1) Do you have USB cable connected to PC and your PC does not detect it?It could be a cable problem.Have you try a different one?
2) It could also be a driver problem.Do you have installed the correct drivers so your PC can detect your phone right?
Also if you had a custom rom flashed to your phone you can make it work again just by flashing it back using a custom recovery.Format system , data , boot and cache partitions and make a clean install of your rom.If you have not a custom recovery I am afraid you have to flash your phone through USB.
First of all, I would like to thank you for your help
Apologies for that mistake I'm still getting used to my new keyboard..
The USB port doesn't work meaning it neither charges nor connects to pc, because when it was charging, I smelled some plastic burning, could be a short circuit
And I don't have the Zip of the rom anymore on the phone, could it be possible to put an SD card and flash another one that is guarenteed to work?
And yes I have custom recovery

Yes.If you have access to recovery you can just connect you sdcard to PC with an adapter and put the zip of your rom inside. Then put it but to your phone and flash it back.
You could also try to mount your sdcard to PC from your custom recovery and you put the zip of your choice inside.
