Hi!
I have a A2107G and unlocked it, coming from B04.
Everything worked so far, but I have messed around with bootstack/modem and now I am struggling.
I flashed a new ROM with TWRP (different versions) and the ROM (doesn't matter which one) is stuck in booting animation.
What can I do to bring it back to life?
Also another question: After switching on, directly after the ZTE logo coming up, a black sceen with some infos coming up and stay there for 5 secs.
Is there a way to get rid of this

Do you have twrp? If yes, flash stock rom.

Yes, I have TWRP.
So i should flash a stock image and start over from scratch (with rooting, ...)
Is the posted screen normal?

Yes it is normal. It means you've unlocked bootloader.
Flash stock rom zip. There are some guides.

Heh. I don't know if there are flashable stock zips for the A2017G, the way I know of is flashing the stock recovery and using an official zip. But you shouldn't go back to stock if you want to use custom ROMs. Try this:
-Get an SD card, put
~ a custom ROM (RR, LOS,NucleaROM (i prefer NucleaROM, just sayin)),
~a Magisk 13.3 zip or SuperSU 2.82 zip,
~an OpenGApps zip (I use pico), arm64,
~a TWRP 3.1.1-0.img and
~A2017X Universal Bootloader and A2017G modem.
-Wipe system, data, cache and dalvik
-Install the Universal Bootloader, then the Modem, then the ROM and last the GApps and magisk/SuperSU
-If you had something important on the internal storage put it on the SD with the File manager under Advanced
-Go to Wipe -> Format data -> type Yes. This will get rid of the possible encryption from the stock ROM, but it will wipe your internal storage too.
-Reboot to system
You can use the 5 seconds screen to get to TWRP with the Volume buttons. Pretty handy I guess. There's a zip out there that gets rid of that screen, but you risk black-screening your phone with what seems to be no immediate fix (you'd be looking at an RMA)
So, after you use the phone and open TWRP again, you'll have an old version of it (3.0.1N-0 or sth). So go to Install, choose Install image, and select the TWRP 3.1.1-0.img on your SDcard. Then Reboot -> reboot to recovery and you can do whatever you want.

Hi!
Thanks for your help and the time you spent on my problem.
I have tried all that stuff already, but maybe not in exact that order. Will try it this evening.
In case i will be able to bring it back to life, I have 2 questions, pls:
1: You mentioned the 5sec-screen and a zip to get rid of it.
Where could I find it (not seen yet) and how do i get into fastboot, when I skip this screen?
2: When I setted up my Axon with a Custom Rom and SU and everything was working as it should do, I was not able to write to /system (or deleting something in system/apps)
How do I get rid of this restriction? I think I have found an instruction once, but I failed and afterwards my device was stuck in animation.
orry for bothering, but the Axon really drive me nuts. Never had such a hassle with my Nexus

Can you just leave the 5 sec screen alone? You can kill your phone, and there doesn't seem to be anything you can do really.
If you're insistent, you can find it under Themes Apps and Mods, called "We remove the inscription that the bootloader is unlocked" made by NFound1.
And about the restriction to modify the system, connect your phone to a PC with ADB, fire up ADB and configure it (USB debugging, ADB over network if you have the option, permit the connection) and issue 'adb reboot disemmcwp' (disable emmc write protection, that is. Write it just like that or your phone will reboot and you will still have the protection active).
The phone has its difficulties and all but it's easy to work with once you get the hang of it. And, you know, your big cores don't just die all of a sudden, which is a good thing!

Then i flashed, according to your guide, the stock recovery and now the device seems to be really bricked.

to go back to stock, download the full zip of any version you want, and download stock recvovery from b08, you have flashed it.
from twrp, format data, and try to boot, if you cannot, reflash b09 recovery from twrp, select image and the recovery you download, then go to stock recovery and update from sdcard. it allways work for me, if you stuck in boot animation again, reboot recovery and wipe data.
after you succesfully boot, reboot edl, and reflash twrp, the version you were using before witn axon7tool, thats all

Just follow my guide for that. If you flash the B04 recovery (the one i provided) you shouldn't have any trouble
Managed to flash the B05 and phone is up and running.
Made a backup by using TWRP 3.1.1.0 and flashed CarbonRom, which also worked nicely.
However, I'm not able to flash LOS by using the B05 bootstack.
I'm too dumb for this phone

What B05 bootstack? You have to use the universal bootstack and the A2017G modem file...
Both are on the LOS thread. It seems weird that carbonROM would even boot without the universal bootstack though

Hi,
So I have created this thread just because I can see many people creating new threads as after flashing CM 14.1, their phone doesn't boot up. So for all those who are going to flash CM 14.1 or have already flashed it and can't get it working, this thread is for you.
What you will need:
1. Rooted OnePlus X (Obviously)
2. Custom Recovery (TWRP recommended)
3. Latest CM 14.1 build
4. Arsenic Kernel or BlackReactor Kernel
So this is how you get CM 14.1 working on your OPX (make sure your battery is above 80% just to be sure that nothing will go wrong considering battery's point of view)
Make sure you have backed up everything before performing the following steps as the process will wipe your data completely. (I would recommend to take a Titanium backup of all user apps and then taking a nandroid backup of system and data)
1. Download the required files and place them in your SD Card or internal storage
2. Reboot your device into recovery
3. Go to wipe, and swipe to factory reset (Note! This will completely wipe all the data from your device including app data and SMS! This won't wipe the contacts but just to be safe, have a backup of all your contacts)
4. Go to Wipe again, and go to Advanced wipe, select the following partitions - System, Cache, Dalvik cache. Swipe to wipe (Note! Make sure you have a backup of the System as this will wipe the Operating System from your phone!) Although this step isn't necessary, I like to do it.
5. Go to install, and direct to the location where you have saved the CM 14.1 zip file and the kernel. Select the files, and swipe to flash.
6. If you want anything else in your system, direct to that location, select the zip file, and swipe to flash. (Note! You need not flash the SuperSU zip file as CM offers Root access in developer options)
7. Reboot your system and wait for it to boot.
Viola! Your device is now running official CM 14.1 nightly.
Hope this helps! ?
Downloads:
1. Latest CyanogenMod nightly - found here https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=onyx
You can have any version of the nightly as long as it is CM 14.1
2. Arsenic Kernel R32 (or R31) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/development/kernel-arsenic-kernel-r2-t3422020
Open the above thread and follow the guide

Good Evening, @aamodjoshi23 THX a Lot. You are my Hero. Finally it works.
greetings
If you're facing some Error 7 while trying to flash cm 14.1, you can try updating the bootloader following this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69267239&postcount=2560
I used the Oxygen OS 3.13 full ROM as recommended, edited updater-script (following those instructions)
Immediately after flashing the OOS 3.13 rom, you don't have to reboot.
I immediately flashed twrp 3.0.3 original from https://dl.twrp.me/onyx/
I then rebooted into twrp 3.0.3 (using the reboot button in twrp, then bootloader)
Then I installed (in this order):
cm 14.1 (https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=onyx)
arsenic kernel (as recommended above)
opengapps
Not sure if this step is necessary, but I wanted to let twrp patch the rom to not overwrite twrp so I rebooted into twrp again (using reboot --> bootloader in twrp)
Then I used reboot --> system
First boot took a while, but now I have nougat!!
kenel zip every time
Do i need to flash the kenel zip every time I update the the cm 14.1 zip file?

Yes, as when you flash the CM 14.1 build, the kernel that is provided with the build is also flashed, and that is not supported. So you need to flash it every time you flash a CM 14.1 build, but if you want to flash any other build, something like CM 13.0, then you need not as the kernels provided in those are supported.

Hi,
I have a very specific problem. I rooted my Oneplus x few months back and everything was fine. I use to get update notifications and after downloading it use to update automatically. But since last 2 months i download the update files but it takes me to recovery and then i cant find the zip file to flash/install. (i also started using external sd card two months back, but not sure if it has to do anything with this). I tried searching a solution on web - tried checking 'system' under Mount tab, installed an app for auto update and some more but no use. I even connected my phone in recovery mode to laptop and copied the zip file to internal memory but while flashing it gave error.
Now i am not sure what the problem is. Do i need to update my recovery or something else. Pls help.

In October oneplus updated to 6.0.1 officially i.e OOS 3 it brings new bootloader to the device as you are using old recovery you can't flash new update..so you need to upgrade to latest bootloader by following thread available in general section or you can flash stock recovery and upgrade to latest OOS and flash whatever you want to flash..I recommend you to see how to upgrade bootloader in general section if you are planning to flash custom ROMs or if want to flash latest OOS then simply flash stock recovery and upgrade. onece you updated to OOS 3 after that you can flash new official twrp 3.0.3.0 from its official page.
Edit: for old bootloader you need stock 5.1.1 recovery..which is not available in official oneplus download page..so just follow below link

I made a blunder. I read somewhere to upgrade TWRP to 3.0.3 and after doing that now i just can't access the recovery mode. When i try to boot in recovery mode the screen gets stuck with One+ logo. Then I even tried to Factory reset and the phone rebooted to the same screen stuck with logo. I longed pressed the power button and it got switched off and then again turned it on. It started and is working fine but I cant factory set it, nor cant I access recovery to flash anything.

I've got a good news and bad news for you.
The bad news is, no one has the older 2.8.x TWRP image files and there are no threads that have the download links for the older version of TWRP. So you're stuck and you have lost your recovery. You have lost everything... Having no recovery means you can't do a lot of things like factory reset, any wipe of a partition, you won't be able to update your system, you won't be able to flash zip files to enhance your experience and many more... I'm sorry my friend...
The good news is, I've got you covered. I had saved the older TWRP so that if anyone one day would need that recovery image, I would be able to help them.
Download the older TWRP from here : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2Ms-zaNd3SiTmpxX0UtYUV2R1k/view?usp=drivesdk
Flash it. You should get back your recovery.

By stuck on boot, I didn't know you meant that it showed only the OnePlus logo and not even powered by Android.
In that case, follow this guide to update your bootloader :

I have bricked my phone the issue I am facing is I don't own and can't afford an SD card to sideload the rom onto my phone is there a 7.0 stock based rom that is flashable via TWRP or? Really need some ideas need to fix this device.
If you have access to TWRP, then plug your phone into your computer and it'll mount your internal sdcard. Copy any Rom you want onto it and flash as normal (remember to wipe cache and dalvik!). If you get the "error 7" output, edit your updater script and do it again. If you get a bootloop after successfully flashing, flash the latest magisk zip (I assume you use root?) or noverity file if not.

I use root and both but when I decided to remove root and was looking at installing another rom it failed now I don't see any twrp flashable roms for my device would you know of any? I tried stock but it can't be flashed from TWRP sadly I have no bootable rom at the moment.
@mastermarkofroms
EVERY Rom that can be flashed through stock recovery can be flashed through TWRP.
....all you need to do is edit the updater script as I said above. Give it a shot
Edit: you softbricked your phone removing root? Just perform a factory reset, you'll lose your personal data but it'll boot. Remember to wipe cache and dalvik.

I have never modified that before what would I need to modify to get it working?
@mastermarkofroms
Open the Rom archive and edit the updater script (/META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script) to remove the first 7 lines (sometimes more or less) of code, so the script starts at "ui_print....." now. Save it, and load it onto your sdcard and flash.

I will give that a shot turns out a factory reset did not start up device so this is my last choice as I can still access recovery
edit: so after modifying the script it did flash without an issue but it still has failed to boot reloading the bootloader.

the no verify file was flashed when I rooted this device
Which Rom did you flash?
You performed a factory reset and wiped dalvik and cache after flashing? How long did you wait after rebooting? Usually takes 5-10min on the first boot.
Edit: you flashed the no verity file after flashing the rom today, right?

I tried flashing Unofficial LineageOS 14.1 for ZE552KL by basenode with opengapps it just failed to flash not an error 7 it actually gave me a wrong device error although I know I have the ze552kL model. and since then it don' boot it tries to you see the asus logo and it just restarts again in a boot loop
Flash magisk right now, then wipe cache and dalvik
Go back asus nougat 7.0 -> factory reset -> flash LOS 14.1 -> flash gapps -> done. Flash magisk if you want.
Edit: when you go back asus rom and face bootloop then just flash no-verity file, everything will work like normal .

I thought you ask for the LOS rom.
I did the thing is had it installed and everything but my phone kept freezing and lagging with it not sure why as I had nothing on there that would of caused it. But the lag once I got it working was just unbearable for me

Which rom?
How To Flash Roms with the Ridiculous Slots... yep. You're a rookie again because these things are going to drive you onto a drunken crazy bender... You'll probably wake up in Mexico married to someone you've never met and tied in with the Chicago Mob in debt for a quarter million. THIS IS WHAT WORKS FOR ME. I do the same thing Every time and have done this wrong so many times I've lost count.
Note number 1...
You have or know how to use adb and fastboot basics... if not... Of not Google the Adb and fastboot set up for your devices and/or PC/Laptop etc... There are a lot of forums and Q&A on setting this up to get fastboot cmds running. You should be familiar regardless and at least have the stock flashall.bat for a Google Stock IMG JUST IN CASE. I am assuming everyone is already at the install for TWRP and is working with 3.2.0-0 only. You cannot flash roms without it. Any other version for 8.1 will NOT work at this time...
Note number 2...
Roms will vary. Some may include the vendor image and you don't need to flash it. Some may include gapps and you don't need to flash those... Some may include everything and have you flash to slot_a and that is all. In other words do what the OP says, they built it. They know what's in it and how it works.
Here's the trick... It doesn't mean you can't do these in any other way but you will NOT get stuck if you follow some simple rules...
Roms only flash while in Slot_A
Gapps only Flash in Slot_B
Kernels only flash in Slot_B
Magisk only flash in Slot_B
IMG Flash to Slot_B
TWRP 3.2.0-0 ONLY
TWRP 3.2.0-0 to either slot
Do NOT EVER Flash anything other then TWRP, Rom Gapps and Vendor until GOING through first boot. Yes you can but it increases your issues.
Always always always double check between every install the status of your Overlays folder. Before every rom install Mount System then Go to File Manager and Delete that folder from Slot B before you boot to Slot A to flash the rom. This can hold Data from Magisk and Mods that get all tore up Everytime... It also happens when you reflash Magisk or dirty flash a rom. I'm going to put together a fresh flash below and I'll get into that a little later.
So from stock Google image...
Clean flash... MAKE SURE YOUR LOCKSCREEN IS OFF... No fingerprint set up... Not a pin set up... No pattern set up. If your more secure than swiping up to open your screen your not getting in to TWRP 3.2.0-0 decrypted.
Either... Reboot recovery (you'll be in slot B) if you already have TWRP installed....
Or....If you're just booting TWRP for the first time...from bootloader you fastboot boot (not flash really the terminology is BOOT) TWRP-3.2.0-0-marlin.img (you'll be in slot B)
Read your bootloader screen or go to TWRP 3.2.0-0 Reboot menu to find out which slot you're in.
FLASHING YOUR FIRST ROM...
note... Most are going to require before flashing your coming from stock. Just do it. At least the initial install... Dirty flash or clean flash after that without going back to stock but you don't have to flash the stock image.
Ready... You're in slot b remember...in order here...
- Wipe Data System Cache
- Flash TWRP 3.2.0-0 the ZIP
This is why you can't have your lockscreen on... If you didn't listen just go back to your bootloader and start over with the flash-all.bat. Sorry but I warned you... You can't get anything to flash at this point because you can't decrypt 3.2.0-0.
- Go to MOUNT then make sure your system box is checked
- Go to ADVANCED and then File Manager and make sure you have no overlay folder. If you do... click on it and hit delete from the options on the bottom portion of TWRP.
- HIT HOME and Go to the actual reboot menu choice (Not the swipe reboot system)
-Click on slot_A and then reboot back into recovery. ...NOTE... I usually don't use the reboot recovery option.(reboot recovery seems wonky and doesnt work for me all the time) I reboot system and just hold volume down until I hit the bootloader and the choose recovery in the bootloader options...
You ARE in Slot A now... Right... You can Double check in the bootloader or TWRP in the reboot menu.
- if you really really really like to wipe you can wipe Data system and cache in Slot_A... I never do from slot_a but to each their own.
- Flash rom and flash TWRP 3.2.0-0. Nothing else.
- Reboot back to recovery again.
You ARE in slot B. Yep automatically... When a rom is flashed it goes to the opposite slot. And reboots you there on the next recovery reboot so DO NOT GO change your slot to B unless an OP actually directs you to do so.
So... We're in slot B
- Flash Gapps and Vendor... nothing else until after you boot up.
Yeah yeah... You want to be rooted... Well boot up first and we'll hopefully be able to walk through that too.
Your booted up. Go to your development options and double check to make sure USB Debugging is enabled... Really whatever, you're really pretty safe if you have Your fastboot drivers and they must be installed because you installed TWRP to get this far so if something goes wrong from here we can still always do the flash-all.bat so your phone shouldn't implode and brick out.
Reboot recovery. Yep you're in slot B... You should now always boot recovery to slot_b unless you mess something up and get stuck in a loop. I've seen it but couldn't duplicate. It was always me flashing out of order.
GAINING ROOT... MAGISK INSTALL
- Choose the zip, flash and reboot.
Nothing further needed, make sure it's compatible with 8.1 and at least 15 to 16 are Oreo compatible. Easy right.
Well even when I'm updating... the wonderful Overlay folder can get jacked. I'm pretty sure I've heard it laugh at me as I stuck in bootloop after bootloop... If you delete the overlay folder anytime BEFORE you update to the next version of Magisk you'll be ok
UPDATING MAGISK...
So if you're on 15.3 and you want to get to 16.0 without getting stuck or having issues on boot.
- Reboot from Rom to recovery... You WILL always be in slot B by default.
- Go to Mount
- Mount System
- Go to Advanced and then File Manager, find your Overlay folder.
- Click on the overlay folder
- Click Delete
- Hit Home
- Flash your updated Magisk 16.0
MAGISK AND KERNEL
To get Magisk and a kernel going can give you to madness. It gets a little tricky. But honestly devs have really really improved the process. If you're rooted already most you can flash reboot into the rom reboot to recovery again and then do this again...
- Reboot from Rom to recovery... You WILL always be in slot B by default.
- Go to Mount
- Mount System
- Go to Advanced and then File Manager, find your Overlay folder.
- Click on the overlay folder
- Click Delete
- Hit Home
- Flash your updated Magisk 16.0
For the most part the current kernels do not blow out your Recovery anymore however some do. In fact the only one I know that will is Noexezshades. Probably spelled that wrong but you'll catch my drift if you read his OP.
SERIOUSLY YOU BETTER ALREADY HAVE BOOTED INTO YOUR ROM FOR THE FIRST TIME.. You'll hate your life if you set this up during your initial install.
INSTALLING KERNEL WITH MAGISK
- Reboot Recovery (hahaha. Ha. You turned your fingerprint scanner on... Reboot and turn it back off)
- Flash Magisk
- Reboot
I know... right now you're saying WTF... I didn't flash the kernel. This is just a fail safe... Points in Any Kernel need Root to install... I haven't had issues but really probably because I always flash Magisk first.
If you already had Magisk installed start here.
Now we're going to Flash the kernel. It's going to unroot you so we'll just immediately install Magisk I recommend always installing Magisk after a kernel because it also Patches the boot otherwise there are times when patching the boot.img is required however I believe most DEVs have surpassed that FOR MOST KERNELS.
- Reboot recovery (Dang. You forgot to turn off your fingerprint sensor again, sorry life's rough turn off your lockscreen again)
- Flash kernel
- Reboot system
- Reboot recovery (you might lose TWRP however every Newer version I'm using--- unless noted by the OP--- is working at present)
- DON'T flash Magisk... No dont flash Magisk. If you were following along you can see you need to go delete the overlay folder before you flash Magisk it will almost always go bad at this point if you don't delete the overlay folder
- Flash Magisk
- Reboot.
Hopefully you learned what's happening now in the background. I try to explain things from a user level and do this as part of my daily work every day. I don't understand things unless someone tells me what's going on along the way and keeps me partially entertained...
Talk amongst yourselves or don't post Anything. The goal is to take the issues out of the day to day so the devs aren't getting the questions.
I'm gonna have to read this post a couple of times to get the hang of it. I'm kind of a newbie.
Great post. Thank you for the write up. Helps to understand twrp when dealing with two partitions
When I understand it correctly, for a ROM installation I need to select slot a. (Standard for me). And slot b for Kernel installation and others.
But why my twrp installation was broken? After installation I can't boot to the system and unable to start the recovery, so I must flash the complete system images from Google.

Just for clarity, the OP mentions TWRP-3.0.2-0 a couple times. It should be 3.2.0-0.
Nice write-up.

It'd be neat if I could edit my post from the XDA app. My screen and back glass broke... then the earpiece blew out so I was awaiting parts and haven't been online
I need to go away from the option of even flashing TWRP at kernel install. As everyone updates their kernels... I see it starts a looping issue now. Everything else is solid.
overlay folder
I am not grasping what the "overlay folder" refers to. What folder do i need to delete any time i flash magisk? I really appreciate the detail in the steps of this guide.

Hey Happy feet.
From the beginning
Reboot recovery from stock.
Wipe data, system, and dalvik
Flash TWRP installer.zip after your wipe
Delete your overlay folder if you were rooted previously.
This is at Advanced/ File Manager/click on overlay and then hit delete.
Hit the HOME button in TWRP
Click on slot A and then reboot recovery
Back in recovery now IN SLOT A
Flash ROM
Now flash TWRP installer.zip again
Reboot recovery... Benzo ROM includes everything so you'd just be rebooting at this point into the Rom so read and reread the OP you downloaded from.
Flash Gapps (if needed for your ROM some have them built in)
After you flash the gapps if needed... then flash vendor (assuming it required from the dev who made the rom (like Benzo ROM has the vendor built in))
You do not have to flash TWRP at this point and can reboot directly into the Rom. If it doesn't boot or you hit a bootloop you did something out of order from the above, or there is something wrong with the Rom itself.
Second part... When I say Flash TWRP I mean the TWRP installer.zip there are 2 different files. The marlin-fastboot image and the Marlin Installer.zip. so if you flashed Twrp-3.2.0-0-marlin.img that is not enough... You have to have the twrp installer.zip downloaded on your internal storage to flash through TWRP and you no longer need to fastboot flash.
ROMs absolutely will erase your TWRP installer.zip and you need to reflash TWRP installer.zip before you reboot after you flash your ROM.
Sorry if I over explained it, not trying to make you feel like you don't know what you're doing, it's just very different than the old school installs.

Open Advanced and then choose File
If you find a folder in your root named 'overlay' tap on it (select it) and then click on delete.
If it's not there.... great. You've probably never rooted. It'll cause some bootloops once in a while, sometimes it doesn't matter. It's more important to do this at the point of flashing a room because you most likely will not get a fresh install to boot up if you're rooted.
Quick Note: This file carries over Magisk root data and gets messy as you update Magisk or reflash it.
I tried installing latest magisk on android "P" and was on Slot-B and it wouldnt install, error...
changed to slot-A and then it installed..
Magisk v16.3 (1630)
Thanks for info. good stuff i am new to pixel coming for my old friend nexus 6
just fyi I downloaded and flashed twrp-3.2.1-2-marlin before reading this and just happen the passcode thing for me is not a problem. Had to enter it twice the first time using twrp but now just once. works fine.
I don't give nearly enough appreciation where it's due but I gotta hand it to you... By far the best guide ever! Thank you!
Very good details and advice. I'm having far else problems by following these steps. Thanks for all your work.
commenting here to save this for future.
thank you OP!
hoping this thread is still alive. . . is there a recommended factory image to restore to? do i need to flash the factory on both slots? is it best to flash -the factory system.img on a particular slot? In the end which slot to --set_active=?
And how do the SLOTS come into play for doing a TWRP backup and doing a TWRP restore ?
Guys this is help less.
After rooting my device I followed some instructions to get the Lineage 14. I flashed a BootLoader and a Modem as instructed and went forth to mount USB in order to transfer the custom rom into the device. But this is where the problem is.
It says E: Cant find partition to mount storage. I've tried to reboot, wide, data, storage, system and cache and repair the partition I don't know what else to do.
Anyone else can help? Btw I am fairly new to this stuff so please dumb it down for me.
Another thing, when I go to reboot my recovery it says my device isn't rooted and asks to install superSu, however it was rooted before I entered download mode and started installing bootloader and modem.
Now I have no operating system in the device so i can literally only use Recovery or download mode.
Is my device bricked? I don't know. :crying: :crying:

If you can boot recovery, all is not lost.
First, are you sure that you flashed the correct bootloader/modem for your s5 model (G900 T, P, V, F, etc? Odin should not let you flash the wrong one, but anything is possible.
If Bl/modem is correct, them the next thing is to get the custom rom onto the phone.
-make sure you have downloaded everything you need (rom, root method(pref Magisk), gapps if wanted)
- boot into recovery, I'm recommending and assuming that you are using the latest Twrp, if not, d/l official Twrp for your model, and flash that with Odin
-In twrp select wipe, format data, just in case.
-now you should be able to mount usb storage, using the option in twrp
- now you should be able to mount your phone to your PC and transfer the rom, put it somewhere easy to find on the phone. also copy gapps and Magisk zips
-now, still in twrp, select install, select rom zip, select add more, select Magisk zip, also flash gapps at this time if you want to use them.
-click the button to flash
-click wipe cache/dalvik
-click reboot
-pray ?

Hey man! Thank you so much for your reply. I installed CPE1 bootloader and modem driver, honestly I don't even know what they do. Was this a wrong thing to do?
I rooted my device using cf auto root, then flashed the bootloader and modem using Odin. After that I (stupidly) tried to boot my stock OS and it was stuck in a bootloop.
Unfortunately I won't be able to try your instructions this till tomorrow evening but I'll keep you posted!! do you mind if I pm?
Edit: I was using twrp 2.8.7 I believe, could this have been the problem? Also I updated twrp to latest and tried micro sd as storage and flashed a Rom but the phone is still bootlooping

Ok I see you have S5 plus. I'm not familiar with that device to know which baseband it should be.
One thing you might try is to boot recovery and clear cache/dalvik and then try booting the custom rom.
If all else fails, you might try Samfirm
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
That should give you a stock firmware file to flash with odin.
You can pm if you need to, I don't own an S5+, nor am I a veteran flasher but I will try to help if I can.

Ok sorry I couldn't be more help
Oh, you don't need to use of cfautoroot anymore, you can just flash Magisk after the rom, and then use Magisk manager to manage all your root permissions.
So if you are going back to stock, I would:
-Flash stock in Odin
-probably boot stock once to verify (first boot takes long)
-odin flash latest twrp(uncheck auto-reboot, just battery pull after it says pass)
-power on phone with key combo to boot recovery
- format data
-flash rom/gapps?/Magisk
-wipe cache/dalvik
-reboot system (first boot will take long)
Hope you get your phone working again

Good News! Phone is back in full working order after flashing stock firmware. It was kinda scary though, I had to fix an error in Odin and then the phone wouldn't even boot up! Left it over night, booted it again and it worked fine Thanks a lot for your help, I'll try not to soft brick my device again
For the past 24+ hours I've been trying to flash a few custom roms on my UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER OP6T, but the phone TURNS OFF a few seconds after the boot sequence/animation.
I've read about the A/B slots and tried the Roms' flashing instructions, along with a few suggestions from others, but I cannot get any Custom Rom on my phone...
Here are the steps I've taken to flash (a few times I tried different things that I'll put in parenthesis). Is there anything ya'll see that I'm doing wrong?:
Starting from OOS 10.3.2 Fastboot Recovery and all required files on an OTG USB Drive
fastboot to TWRP....img
Confirmed I'm on Slot A
Wipe Data/Dalvik
Install OOS...zip (10.3.2)
Install TWRP...zip (3.3.1.32)
Reboot Recovery
(Format Data)
Confirmed I'm on Slot B
Install OOS...zip (10.3.2)
Install TWRP...zip (3.3.1.32)
Reboot Recovery
Confirmed I'm on Slot A
Install Xtended (v8 4/13)
(Wipe Data/Cache)
Install TWRP...zip (3.3.1.32)
Reboot Recovery
Confirmed I'm on Slot B
Install Xtended (v8 4/13)
(Wipe Data/Cache)
Install TWRP...zip (3.3.1.32)
Reboot Recovery
Confirmed I'm on Slot A
Install GAPPS (Arm64 10.0 Nano)
(Format Data)
Reboot System
My Guide for Lineage, however it will work for most AOSP based ROMs.
I assume you arent manually switching slots. Don't, there is no need, in fact dont worry about it. Slots will switch automatically after flashing a ROM when you reboot recovery. There is no cache partition, stop wiping this, its not doing anything. There are two slots, but only one data partition that is shared, there isnt a reason to keep wiping it.
On most instructions adding or removing steps will make things not work. Unfortunately for this device there is a lot of out dated information and information that just doesnt work. My guide has been tested with 10.3.3, and the latest version of LOS, however if you have a T-Mobile 6T you are on your own. (I have a regular 6T)

Thanks for the comment! I just followed your guide, but still seeing the boot animation for a few seconds, then the phone vibrates and turns off.
For kicks, I decided to Format Data and I see the boot animation longer, all the way to the end when it's about to start Android, but then it vibrates and shuts off. Strange.
I'm thinking there is something different about my phone... It's a global, unlocked version and I've rooted/flashed hundreds of roms over the years on various devices, so all of this should be a piece of cake................. Thanks!

Have you tried without Gapps?
After the shutdown go back to twrp and extract the content of /sys/fs/pstore/* and upload the files here.

Thanks. I actually gave up and setup stock OOS again, so it took a while to get a TWRP backup, etc. etc.
So after the backup, I installed Xtended + TWRP, reboot to recovery, installed Xtended + TWRP, wiped dalvik, and reboot to system.
Boot animation shut down issue as usual.
Afterwards, I copied the pstore folder (attached zip).
Thanks!

Anything in the logs I can look for?
This is driving me crazy. I flashed MIUI just fine (because it had the .bat file that does everything for you). Essentially it's doing the same thing as flashing OOS & Rom on A/B, right?
Just tried flashing the newest Xtended Rom (May 11th), same issue. Phone vibrates and completely turns off while the boot animation is running.

If you have a TMobile 6t I can confirm I have had to manually change the slots during the flashing process to get custom ROMs installed.

I found out that I do have the T-Mobile version that the seller flashed to International Software haha
When I reboot to recovery, I do see that the slots are being changed though.
Would you mind post the exact steps you took to successfully flash a ROM/GAPPS?

Fastboot boot TWRP Marion version
Flash oos
Flash Marion TWRP zip
Check my slot
Reboot recovery
Changed slot since it didn't change
Reboot recovery
Flash oos
Flash Marion TWRP zip
Changed slot
Reboot recovery
Flash custom rom
Flash Marion TWRP zip
Change slot
Reboot recovery
Flash gapps
Flash magisk 20.4
Reboot to system
Those are the steps I had to take before I finally got a custom rom to work. I tried doing the methods posted which would have probably worked if the slots were changing on there own but they weren't for me.
