My phone was acting strange these past few days. I had my friend look at it to try to fix it, so he did a "fix permissions" and tried wiping the cache. (I am a noob at this still, so he knows way more on what he's doing than I do)
Nothing he seemed to try ended up working, so in the end I ended up wiping the entire phone and reflashing the same CM7 ROM on my phone to get it back to a fresh start and to just restore everything after. I ended up recovering a few of the apps I had through Titanium.
Long story short, I woke up this morning and looked at my phone and it was back to my old setting about 4 days ago, when I made the NANDROID backup.
What happened here? and is there a way to get it back to the setting I had the night before?
I searched but could not find a similar thread.
On my Defy (green lens), I was running 10.1 July build.
I got a new battery and used it one day. When it was low, I turned off the phone and put my old battery and rebooted. Everything was fine.
Since I have also a battery charger, I charged my new battery through it and when the old one was draining, I swapped it with the new one again and turned on the phone.
Ever since, the phone is stuck on the CM animation.
I would like to know what is the best way forward for me.

Wipe your /data and /cache partitions and reboot. If that doesn't work, wipe everything and reflash the ROM. If you're worried about your data you can make a backup, before wiping, and then restore your apps+data with Titanium backup from the TWRP backup. I wouldn't restore system apps/settings.
Recovery
I did a stock recovery. Somehow it did not fix my problem. Then I did a custom recovery and wiped data, cache and dalvik.
As a result, all my apps were wiped out (not a problem) and perhaps some of my data as well.
However the result was a much better 4.1.2 experience.
Everything works fast - no lags whatsoever.
Only problem is that the icons for People and Messaging in the Dock disappear after some time. This has happened more than 3 times in the last 24 hours.
Just wanted to report that I have been on Rootbox for a few weeks now. Earlier versions of the ROM did not have any issues, but since the last two or three (cant recall exactly when it started) my tablet would not wake from sleep by pressing the power button. Sometimes the LED was flashing, sometimes not. But in both cases a reboot was necessary.
I had backed up my ROM when I was on rootbox 0703 nightly, so I did a complete system, cache and Dalvik wipes. Restored my backup and presto! No more sleep of death.
Hi, my phone has been turning off itself a few times a day since last week. I have flashed factory image, wiped everything and hadn't install any apps. Unfortunately the phone is still rebooting. The kmsg from reboot is there. Any thoughts why is it turning off itself?
OK so I have been using this rom and updating it as new releases were available and presently am running the 1-20151101 version. I decided to encrypt my phone before I went to bed last night as the process could take over an hour. It went through several boots but when I went to bed it was still in the DevConnection boot screen. I figured it might be taking a little longer than normal and went to bed. When I woke up 8 hours later it was still on the same screen. So I forced a reboot. During the reboot process the phone asked me to enter the encryption pattern I had established the night before which I did. Then the screen went back to the DevConnection animation where it stayed for a couple of hours. I decided something must have gone really wrong and went to the bootloader to perform a factory reset, wipe partitions and dalvik cache and reinstalled the rom and gapps. Everything seemed normal but when I rebooted I was prompted to enter the encryption pattern. After I did it went right back to the DevConnection boot screen animation where it has remained for another hours or so. Any suggestions?
