Sleep of Death went away - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wanted to report that I have been on Rootbox for a few weeks now. Earlier versions of the ROM did not have any issues, but since the last two or three (cant recall exactly when it started) my tablet would not wake from sleep by pressing the power button. Sometimes the LED was flashing, sometimes not. But in both cases a reboot was necessary.
I had backed up my ROM when I was on rootbox 0703 nightly, so I did a complete system, cache and Dalvik wipes. Restored my backup and presto! No more sleep of death.

10.1 WiFi with official ICS rom turns off

Hi,
I updated my P7510 to the official ICS rom the other day, and since then I have been having a problem.
If I leave the tab alone for a bit (on the charger or not), it powers off completely. And I don't just mean that you have to just press the button shortly to restart it, no I have to keep the power button pressed for ~10 seconds for it to boot to the loader (battery icon appears) and then press it again for a few seconds to actually boot ICS.
I have CWM 5.8.3.1 and I did a dalvik clean and a cache partition format, but it made no difference. I am a bit hesitant to do the full factory reset as that will clear all the storage and it will take some time to restore more then 20GB of data.
I have the official ICS and don't have that problem. I'm not rooted at this time and not using CWM so I assume it has something to do with that.
I have the same problem and mine is running stock, un-rooted.

did you do a factory reset as part of your upgrade?
I will probably do it a bit later, to see if it fixes this very annoying problem.
I bit the bullet and installed ICS on mine the other day. Mine is currently rooted with CWM and I am not experiencing that problem.
It did boot up after the install and I still had all my data and apps but chose to do a full wipe anyway just to be safe and start fresh. All I really lost was the music I had loaded and, other than the time it will take, that can be reinstalled w/o any problems.

If you wipe data through cwm, only apps will be deleted. /sdcard will remain untouched.

Yeah I noticed. I ended up doing a 'factory reset' and the /sdcard contents was untouched. And it seems to work better afterwords, although I did still encounter once that it had shut itself down.

Cyanogenmod 10.1 Rebooting Issue

Hi, I bought my GS4 two days ago and immediately rooted it via the motochopper method, and then installed ClockworkMod via the loki method. I then installed the then latest nightly (cm-10.1-20130530-NIGHTLY).
Now I understand that nightlies come with no promises of work, but I was just wondering if anyone else was experiencing a rebooting problem on their device. Mine reboots randomly, and often. Multiple times a day. On two occasions it has gotten itself into a reboot loop (starts rebooting, gets to the lock screen, and immediately starts rebooting), in which i needed to pull the battery. Still having the same issue on the May 31st build.
I'm just hoping that someone else has this issue, other then just me. Any ideas to fix it would be amazing!
Use a touchwiz rom, problem solved.
CM is nice for sure but, it seems to always be broken.
Fixed!!
After dealing with the issue for a few more days, it continued to get worse. I could no longer uninstall apps (every time I did it would reboot), and it became more frequent, even with updating to the most recent nightly every day.
I finally got fed up with it today. I did a complete wipe of data, cache, and dalvik cache, and reinstalled the latest nightly (cm-10.1-20130530-NIGHTLY). After installing gapps i turned it on and am no longer experiencing any issues!!! Even after i reinstalled all of my apps and restored the data using titanium. Hopefully it has fixed it completely, only time will tell over the next few days.

[Q] S4 Black Screens to Bootloop

Been having this problem with the latest 4.4 kitkat roms, (GE & AOSP)
when i was back on my old bootloader (whatever it shipped with) and modem (XXUEMJ5) i would always get a random force shutdown when just using my phone through daily use, it would either:
A) Boot for a short time with several apps having lost all their data (such as usernames and passwords). Then shortly after shutdown again into a constant bootloop. (Upon entering Recovery the phone would display 0% battery)
B)Shutdown into a bootloop only recoverable by wiping the /data partition or reflashing the rom (or any other rom).
So then i heard good news from the new bootloader and modem from the XXUFNA5 Leaks throughout the forums and decided to flash them and also test the leaked TW rom. Being me the rom was laggy as hell and i quickly reverted back to Jamal's 4.4 RC 1.1
Unfortunately the force shutdown bootloop problem continued but when it would shutdown i could plug the phone into a power source and boot without problems? not very convenient if you ask me.
just recently i flashed Brood's AOSP pre-RC4 which was working fine until i was signing into some apps then it force shutdown and as i tried to boot the phone went to "Updating apps 1 of 1" and then instantly shut down again.
I went into recovery and wiped /data, /cache and Dalvik then rebooted, the phone would reach the final stage of booting (just before the lockscreen shows) and would reboot and repeat the process all over again.
I went to flash a different rom so i could atleast have a working phone for the day and upon fully wiping, etc. the phone would not boot and continue the reboot process. i suspected a bootloader problem so i reflashed the bootloader and roms now boot. im guessing the bootloader was corrupted somehow and i think the process will just repeat itself.
Anyone got any ideas? I'm stumped and frustrated as the process of setting my phone back up every day is getting extremely boring.

[Q] TMo Note 3 Deciding Rebooting is the Only Solution

Ended up "solving" this by doing a stock restore via Odin, after which TouchWiz would never load an icon (crash loop). Reinstalled TWRP via Odin, then flashed ViSiON X N3 via TWRP.

Morning guys,
I've had some reboots lately and a weird situation last week where I had to do operating system surgery to get the thing to boot at all.... HOWEVER things were going quite well for some time, and it's been rooted and non-stock for months.
Nevertheless I woke up this morning and it was off, I figured the battery had died so I swapped batteries... It boots, it gets to the launcher and it loads the app icons then freezes and reboots... over and over again.
edit: to be clear, as soon as the slider bar touches the right-hand side the phone freezes, the vibration holds for several seconds, and then the device reboots. obviously not what one expects from this operation (having done it before). I was able to wipe the Cache separately... trying to wipe the Dalvik cache all by itself in an advanced wipe does this reboot thing.
OK I said, i will just clear and reflash this.
Going into TWRP, attempting to do a factory reset wipe just freezes, buzzes, and reboots immediately (to the not working OS)... in order to make this all stop I pull the battery, because now the button on the side won't seem to do a hardware poweroff for anything. Just ends up resetting the current reboot.

Any advice would be helpful now. I was just going to say forget it and grab the tiniest ROM i could find and ride it out until I upgrade the device, but now I'm just concerned with getting it active. The rebooting in recovery when trying to do a wipe does not make me feel too great. First and only problem I've had with android roms.
Thanks,
Chris

Deep Sleep problem

Ever since I tried AOKP on my XT1604,the deep sleep is broken. It doesn't even work when reverting back to my stock ROM.Before you ask,yes I always wipe Dalvik/art cache, cache, data and system before I try a ROM.I even wiped SdCard and Internal Storage.Nothing seems to fix it.Some months ago I tried LineageOS and had the same problem(no deep sleep) but my most recent backup back then fixed it.Now the backup I did right before trying AOKP restores everything fine, but the deep sleep is broken.I've tried: -wiping everything and restoring my nandroid backup(that i did before rooting).
-going back to my most recent twrp backup and doing a factory reset
-unmounting the SdCard
Everytime I get the same bloody problem, the phone stays at the lowest clockspeed (200mhz,set by me in Ex Kernel Manager) but never in deep sleep. If anyone has any ideas what else I could try, please help.
Solved
Update. The problem went away all by itself.I topped off the battery some minutes ago and I noticed the phone had entered deep sleep for most of the time after I unplugged it.
