Axon 7 (A2017 or Chinese) Battery and CPU temperature - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

Hi guys my Axon 7 is running the latest update (7.1.1) and my battery's temperature is 29°c (84.2°F) when idling and the room's temperature is also 29°c, but when I start using social media apps like Instagram and Snapchat ,it gets around 37°(98.6°F)and if I use Chrome for web surfing it easily gets up to 40°c(104°F), so is this normal for Axon 7? And also if I use so heavy multitasking like downloading over mobile data, watch online videos , two sims both activated , and ten other apps open at the same time but no games , the temperature sometimes goes up to 45°c(113°F). What is your Axon 7's battery temperature in different situations?(I have no battery draining issues) please also mention the room temperature that you're in. CpuTemp app shows the temperature of CPU and battery nearly the same and I think because Axon 7 is made of metal and conductive so if the CPU get hot then the battery gets too but this isn't the case about plastic made phones. ( to see the temperature of Axon 7 go to settings/ power manager/ battery cooling)

The CPU has one of those vapor pipes that goes from where the CPU is to roughly the center of the screen. I wouldn't be surprised if that actually heats the battery. It's somewhat cold in this time of the year where I live (no more than 20°C) but the battery only gets real hot while charging when the phone is with its back upon the bed sheets or something that doesn't conduct heat. For example I've been using Chrome and XDA Labs and it's currently at 34°C.
Isn't it the same until 50°C? 40 isn't too excessive. also keep in mind that 40° will feel MUCH hotter than, say, 50 on a plastic back phone, just like you feel that a metal is colder than a piece of plastic, both at room temperature.
I'm not using a case (lost the one that came with the phone ) but I'd say that's what keeps my phone from getting too hot.
After some intensive gaming I've gotten the CPU to 65°C, but if you hold the device right the battery doesn't get too hot

But my CPU and Battery temperatures (for example on Cpu Z app) are usually the same.( In thermal section "bms" is the cpu temperature in this app) Also I don't know why the Cpu z app shows my bootloader status unknown. I have never even tried to unlock it.

You're just overreacting... The apps you are using are usually coded to work universally with as many phones as possible. Not all phones will use the same code for the thermistors or diodes for sensing temperature. For example Kernel Adiutor shows values that really make sense, for example 65°C CPU after gaming, some 40°C GPU on video playback, usually less than 35°C battery... They do make sense, and Kernel Adiutor probably needs root to get these values, while I bet CPU-Z does what it can to come up with those while not having root...
The bootloader status thing? Again, I wouldn't be surprised that ZTE did its own weird implementation of something in there, and the app isn't able to find whether it is locked or not. Why would you want to use an app to know if your bootloader is unlocked though? The phone has a big flashy warning if you unlocked it

There. That's after a bunch of video playback. Does it make sense?

Since I haven't got root access , I can't install this app. can you install cpu z and send a screenshot of these pages (System , Battery , Thermal) so that I can campare it to mine.

These are my info on cpu z after connect ing to mobile data , browsing , playing clash of clans (online strategy game),and watching 10 minutes 1080p movie.and my room temperature is 29°c.

I think that you kind of missed my point though
Having up to 50°C on the battery is not too bad, and it's not like you can do too much about it. If your CPU is binned lowest, and it thermal throttles all the time, what are you going to do about it, ask for a replacement?
40°C is not too high for a battery. And all those other sensors are probably from different points of the SoC but there aren't many ways of knowing which is which.

Thanks I got you but my friend's s7 edge gets hot really less than Axon 7 after doing the same it's still 34. And I usually don't use my Axon 7 out and I think if I use it under direct sunlight out there with34°c then it gets freakishly hot.

Man when the temperature reaches to 45°c, the battery health status changes from good to unknown.

These are the screenshots.

Overheating?!

Im not sure if this is normal but the cpu temperature after like 5 mins of use always goes up to 30 degrees is this normal? I'm not overclocking and not doign much but you can feel that the battery gets real warm...
Do you guys experience the same?
CPU temperature of what device?
30C is low or normal for most PCs, and though I am not sure about mobile devices in some parts of the world it is room temperature this time of year.
For a better (more specific) answer please write what device you are measuring the temperature for and what software you are using to do it.
P.S.
The feel of the battery has nothing to do with CPU temperature. They often get warm specially while charging.
On my prophet, if I charge it, OC it and use all the radios (Bluetooth, wifi) and do processor intensive stuff like watching a video, battery status tells me it's at about 40... I haven't noticed any damage, but I only do things like this very occasionally. I don't think it should be a problem although if the battery gets too hot it will degrade.
allright im using htc p4350 Herald and I'm measuring with battery status pro...
But it might just be fine if l3v5y says somethin about 40 degrees...
I would try and keep the temp down as it will last longer running cooler, but I don't think it will impact too heavily.

[Q] Battery heat ?

Hi.
While playing games my Xperia Play produces lots of heat. The back of the phone, and the gamepad feels really warm.
I checked the temperature with Battery Monitor Widget and when I don't use the phone it stays around 25-30 degrees Celsius, but when I play games (even 2D ones) it goes up to 38-40.
Is this a normal thing or there's something wrong with my battery ?

I can confirm this happens. Basically it is using more charge, therefore as a side effect of that it produces more heat from the chemical reaction. Same thing when you have it charging.
It isn't horrible, but try not to let it get too hot as it may shorten the lifespan of the battery.
So this is true for all xperia plays that after some time of gaming the phone will be really warm ?
The phone will get warmer, of course... but 40 degrees is not excessively hot. It feels warm in your hand, but it's not dangerous. A dangerous temperature would be close to 50.
The highest temperature that I had was 44 degrees after a long Nova 2 session.
I am a bit worried by the fact that while browsing the net through wifi the battery heats up to 38 degrees, but it's okay as long as it's less than 50 :> ?
Thanks for the help.
I'd say if it goes above 46 or 47 you just switch it off for a while. Not only because you don't want to overheat it, but because running the phone on higher temperatures reduces battery life (higher temperature means higher resistance to conductivity for metals).
Thanks for the into that it's perfectly normal for the phone to feel warm.
Have you ever reached 50(or that 46,47) degrees on Xperia Play or any other phone ? What app made your battery that hot ?

My former phone, the Galaxy S had HUGE issues with temperature while using 3G. Every time I toggled it on, the phone became awfully hot and the battery drain skyrocketed. I got it on 53 degrees once, since it was in my pocket. I was a bit scared, but the phone resisted it. Still, it wasn't pleasant.
The advantage of the Xperia Play being bulky and plasticky is that it's hard to bring it to extreme temperatures. If it's hard to make it hot, it has a positive impact on battery life as well.

Yea, this happens to me all the time. When using anything that drains my battery it heats it up as well.
All batteries release heat as current passes through them. When the phone is idle, the heat released is low enough your hand doesn't feel it. As the current increases while gaming, so does the heat.
It's nothing to worry about. The batteries are designed to handle heat without being damaged.
Especially since android devices are becoming more popular in places like india, where there's a lot of ambient heat.

Normal operating temperature for Nexus 7? (overheating?)

I just got my Nexus 7 two days ago and I'm worried about the battery temperatures that I'm getting. When I haven't used it for several hours the temperature is usually 75-85 °F, but after general use (Facebook, Chrome) the temperature increases to over 90°F. Right now it's at 92.8°F after less than an hour of general use. Playing games makes it get even hotter, as you can see in the pictures I attached.
It's also mainly on the bottom left side that gets noticeably warm, I feel like it shouldn't be this warm already. I saw a few people had similar issues, are these temperatures out of the normal range or am I worrying for nothing?

battery temp isnt an idicator of your cpu temp. the n7 has a cpu temp option used by some apps(like trinity kernel toolbox) to show cou temp. btw, its normal for the cpu to go to 60C+ cpu temps on a hot day or during heavy use. anyways, did you realize that the human body averages around 98.6F? so, id even say that your battery is still fairly cool. while charging and using your n7, it would be normal to see battery temps around 110F or slightly higher. oh, and your cpu temps safety is at 100C, itll shutdown automatically if that tempurature is reached.

Normal temperature?

Hello, what is the normal temperature for s8 when not using and when actively using it? Mine is around 30 degrees when I unlock it after not using for 10-15 minutes, and 35-37 when actively using (music, browser, etc). Is that ok?
First of all what is your ambient temperature? Secondly is this your CPU temp or batt. temp? Under heavy load CPU can go up to 70-90C before it starts throttling, battery shouldn't go much above 40-45C, but if you live in Las Vegas or Phoenix, this is how hot it gets outside, so phone will reach those temp even when shutdown, if you leave it outside.

Thank you foe explaining, Battery temperature is 37 when I amactively using phone. I live in Moscow, right now we have around 5 degrees Celsius. Don't know how to get cpu temperature.
I would imagine you're using your phone inside a house, with temp. probably around 20-25C. Now I looked at battery statistics on my phone and it seems my phone's battery never went above 40C in the past 2 weeks. I don't think 37C you got is something to worry about yet, but if your battery is 30 even at idle inside of 20-25C room??, you may want to look into why your phone is running, when you're not using it. Another possibility is that your temp. sensor is miscalibrated and it shows little high. In other words, when your phone is not being used, it should be in deep sleep mode and battery should be withing couple degrees your room/ outside temperature, depending where you are.

Can you please advice any app to see what's running when phone is in deep sleep? I have a custom Rom, and I noticed increase of temperature after last update (or maybe I installed some root software that causes it)
Mine does not seem to heat up much at all, it is about room temp while playing games and what not. S8+ ATT
Do you have root? if yes, wakelock detector should show you what is keeping your phone waking up.
If not, 3C tools has whole suite of applications including nice battery manager, it keeps log of your battery charge/ temp etc every 10min, there is apps manager etc.
Have 2 days s8, same settings usage than my s7edge, and it's getting hot, I don't know the previous update, because i update and reset before use the phone.
But with Bluetooth on link to the car, and reading already went to 41 degrees its to much compared to s7.
Maybe I need to change it.

Heating problem

My phone gets warm when charging (Only wifi was connected, I was not using the phone) or when I watch a movie for a long period of time. I'm using the charger given with the phone. It's the 3-32 (48MP) variant. I'm also using the plastic back cover given with phone. Is this normal? If not what's the solution?
don't panic it's totally normal

Also, I used the Stress test on Antutu Benchmark. At that time Battery temp was 42 degree Celsius and CPU temp sometimes spiked upto 71 degree for a second or two then dropping back to somewhere around 50 degree. Is this also normal?
you have to check which app is using that much CPU .. benchmark apps do stress the phone, but daily apps usually don't .. i found this afternoon that 2 apps (xiaomi framework and another one) use so much cpu so i removed them .. it improved my battery considerably
