Where has the WiFi scanning settings gone? - Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) Questions & Answers

Always used to be a good thing to disable and save battery life, but on my new samsung j3 (2016) no longer has the WiFi scanning option
Has this option been removed or just moved elsewhere? Thanks

Automatic WiFi

Hey guys I know there's a way to automatically connect and disconnect Wi-Fi I thought it was called Smart Switch but apparently it's not does anyone have any idea what it's called?

Smart Switch is for moving content between devices.
Smart Network Switch is for automatically moving from WiFi to Mobile Data, in theory without losing ongoing connections.
The Edge Panel "My Places" can be configured to automatically enable/disable WiFi (and other things) based upon your location (location being configured a small number of ways).
There's probably an App to do it another way (like Wi-Fi Matic - which I've never tried - linky).
It took me a minute to find it but if you go into Wi-Fi settings & tap "more" you'll find the smart network switch option.. It used to be under advanced & somehow I was just missing it when I went to the advanced settings

No "advanced" settings in wifi

hello. I have the lastest DBT firmware for s7 edge.
there's no "advanced" option in wifi settings under the "more" menu.
only wps related stuff. no advanced like should be.
I want to stop the auto scanning and some more wifi options that I always had.
I don't know since when it's gone.
Same thing here! Maybe samsung removed it for some reason? :\
Samsung removed advanced section for rooted users.

Not only for rooted users, for stock users as well. I'm unrooted with 0x0 KNOX and I still don't have the Advanced option.
I have never rooted or done any mods to my S7 edge and ive never had advanced options in the more menu.
However, if you wish to set static IP you can still do so. Connect to the network in question, tap and hold on the network in wifi settings and click manage network. Under that is advanced which allows you to set a static ip or a proxy. Its a messy way but thats how they make you do it!
What annoys me is that i have no way of deleting networks i previously connected to unless its 'in range'. My AV is having a hissy fit over a Virgin Trains insecure connection i accidently connected to once upon a time. Does anyone know of an app that lets you 'forget' old networks?
I want to stop the auto scanning
You can find the auto scanning option under settings>privacy and safety>location> and then improve accuracy. In there you can turn off wifi scanning.

Samsung Galaxy S7 how to disable auto-WiFi at startup after boot.

For some reason my S7 always starts the wifi connection after booting up. Can this be disabled ? I only want to connect to Wifi manually.
Also now Wifi is disabled with screen off, which is OK, but I don't want Wifi automatically reenabled after lockscreen is disabled.
PS. How come I can't post in the noob section ?

Wi-Fi issues

There seems to be a common theme with the V20.. Wi-Fi issues! Weak Wi-Fi signal, Wi-fi connection dropping and reconnecting, Wi-Fi constantly searching and no way to disable it. I'm having all these problems and would like to find a solution "If there is one" I think I read somewhere else that its a Android 7 bug??? Is this true? Does ANYBODY have a solution to the V20 Wi-Fi issues?
It is driving me nuts while streaming Tidal and the music is always hanging or stops and gives me the error "Internet Connection lost"..
I hope so!
Please and thanks!
P.S. - I think the problem is that the V20 is ALWAYS searching for a Wi-Fi connection - It should stop searching for a connection once its connected - and... we should be able to disable this "WiFi Searching"
it was good on 7 .. weeker on 8 ,,
Hi, There are these Wifi/ Bluetooth scanning settings that are located under the "lock screen and security" settings. I just stumbled across this not that long ago, then I went looking for it and couldn't remember where it was. I put the screenshots in the right order - - - >> lock screen and security / location / scanning. Kind of a bizarre place to put these settings. I don't know if this will help you but for FWIW.

Hello, Thanks for your response and trying to help but those settings are only related to "GPS" WiFi scanning. What I'm referring to is when you enable WiFi it will continue scanning for a connection even after a connection is found. Thus draining battery and "I think" creating the WiFi issues that plague the V20

How to prevent OnePlus 6T wifi adapter from automatically turning on

My Oneplus 6T is rooted. I tend to keep my wifi adapter turned off to save battery life. Few days after I purchased the phone, I noticed that when I turn off wifi, as soon as I lock the phone then unlock it, the wifi toggle will automatically turn back on.
After much research, I went to wifi settings and unchecked all of the following:
Turn on WiFi automatically
Smart wifi switcher
scanning always available
Open network notification
Wifi-Scanning (for apps)
And in the location settings, I changed (limited) location sharing with apps and stopped sharing with Google to avoid having the wifi adapter turning on. Yet the wifi still does, and very quickly after I turn it off.
BTW, My phone is running OxygenOS 9.0.1.
Any ideas please on how to solve this?
