Okay, now i have three cases with my phone when the phone boots up
1.Hello moto boot animation with sound
In this case my phone works fine (only for few minutes though )
2.Hello moto boot animation without sound
In this, i cant hear any audio from my phone speaker , have to put on my headphones even to answer a call
3.No hello moto animation
Now, its gone, i couldnt use any app related to sound, no music,no calls nothing related to sound, ive to reboot my phone until any of the first two cases to come.
Model:XT1643
Variant:India
Current Rom: nougat 7.0.0(hope ive flashed the perfect stock)
Note: Ive unlocked my bootloader, this problem appeared after some good 20 days
Things that i already did:
1.Factory reset
2.Flashed RR,CM and some other roms
3.Flashed vegito and other kernels
4.Relocked the bootloader
5.Flashed many stock roms
6.All primitives(safe mode,factory mode,clearing cache,wiping dalvik)
7.Saw the logs and found something like
/proc/asound/card---- state failed no such directory found
Now im on my stock rom with bootloader locked.Till yesterday i was in case 2 but phone switched off due to low batter and when i power it on now my phone is back to the worst case 3.
Please help me , i hope xda forums got many android experts and developers
From Case 1 and 2.
I have seen this similar problem (on old Nokia phone), on my phone that happened because of water damage, few drops of water went to jack and it started to show "connected headphone" so it stopped playing music through speaker but worked fine with earphones..
It's rainy season, can you confirm this?
About 3rd case,
it iss un-understandable, can you tell more about that?
Also you have filled half post with what you have done to solve this, i would suggest you to write condition of phone before this happened, what actually you did before this problem started ? This will help others to understand problem..
Edit: about error in log,
Are you still on unlocked bootloader ?
Can you tell, (use any root browser / file manager)
Is there anything in /proc/asound/ ?
In my phone 6 files and card folder (shortcut to msm8952*****) contains other 200+ files...

3rd case i mean moto boot involves
big M moto logo and then hello world and then some animation with sound
in the 3rd case only Moto logo will be shown for some seconds and phone boots up
And yeah, i can confirm that my phone's never been wet
the problem started when i tried rooting my phone, i successfully unlocked the bootloader and flashed wrong supersu file(I was a noob in this stuff back then).ended up in boot loop,Flashed some stock rom available in the net and phone worked perfectly for some days before this problem begun.
Since i dont have root access, i guess i couldnt access /proc/asound/
and now i have a locked bootloader
thanks for your time on replying my post
Warm regards.
Can you try to re-unlock it ?
[It's DARK here, i will not check any threads now, but suggest you to check threads in Q&A section about re-unlocking bootloader after updating to latest firmware, i don't wish any buddy's phone gets damaged, so please check]
Then see /proc/asound/
I will provid one from mine xt1643 if yours is something wrong..
Another question: does this happen with custom ROM too ?
Yeah sure, I will reunlock the bootloader,
Do I have to root my phone or reunlocking is sufficient to see system files?
And one more question
In twrp recovery I found fix se Linux contexts
Can I do that? Safe to do ? Does it have any chance of solving my problem?
Im quite experienced in locking and unlocking bl
I'll do it tomorrow and post the result here.
And yeah same with custom Roms also
Facing the same problem too

As here log said, "card" folder is missing in asound folder (your SS)
Check my SS, i am little confused about sharing card folder, because there is shortcut folder msm8952***** that directs to same card folder.

Can you mail me the entire proc folder?
i have taken it with different methods,
1st: i took flashable zip of /proc/asound with "zipME" app,
here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwXhUjfgNMqyVnhyME8yREc2TXc/view?usp=drivesdk
2nd: copied with file manager, you have to unzip and paste into /proc/asound/

PS: i have taken whole asound folder, i suggest you to 1st copy card folder only and see..

Bro none of the root browser can paste successfully.
So the other choice is flashing the zip directly in twrp ryt?

I am using X-Plore since symbian.. LoL. It provides good facilities, but for new user it may be confusing as it has dual pane view and stuff..
But i have seen most of users prefer ES file explorer and solid explorer... You can try them, and see what makes your work easy..

Yes those were taken form correct directory, but surprisingly those are getting overwriten at some time events, i just restarted my device and you can see it's date/time is close to clock (ss attached)... It's something issue with your device that it's not getting written..
Yeah, but copy pasting the missing folder will atleast work as a temp fix,
Can't I do anything to do that? I mean copy paste in the directory
And yeah even my 6 files are modifying with time, but those folder and shortcut is missing
It's full of surprise, can you check that with xplore (available on playstore)
TWRP is also not showing those folder but x-plore does..

This is a collection of audio files from several ROMs from several phones, including:
CDMA Hero - 1.5
CDMA Hero - AOSP 2.1
CDMA Hero - Sense 2.1
Motorola Stock
Samsung Stock
There are almost 200 different sounds in this collection! Tons of variety!
Also note that this frees up some space in your /system partition! Always a good thing!
Copy the .zip posted and flash it just like any other update.zip. This will delete your current system/media/audio folders (with the exception of ui) and place the repository on your sdcard. BE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH SPACE ON YOUR SDCARD BEFORE FLASHING THIS!
Updates:
Included additional sounds from here
Created an update.zip to automagically delete current system files

There is no need to put the files in /system/
You can make a /media folder on the SD card and it works the same... *AND* the files won't get hosed with every ROM reflash.

I tried that first but then all the files show up in your Music player. I also tried putting a .nomedia file in the folder but then they didn't show up at all.
This is the only way I've found that works completely.
Dont put it in your system folder. Create a /media/audio/notifications or /media/audio/ringtones folder on your sdcard. My ringtones and notifications are seen in these folders.
Gregalous said:
I have created a collection of notifications, ringtones, alarms, and general UI sounds from every ROM that I have ever used (1.5, 1.6 and 2.1 w/ & w/o Sense) all into one folder. This gives you a huge amount of choices for ringtones, notification sounds, etc.
The .zip posted contains a folder called media. To use the sounds, unzip the attached file to your tools folder and from ADB:
Code:
adb remount
adb push media /system/media/
Give it just a second (as there are quite a few of them) and when it's done copying it will tell you. Reboot once finished.
I did not do an update.zip because quite honestly it's much faster and easier to do it through ADB.
Enjoy

Again, the reason I put those instructions up is because when I had tried putting it on my sdcard, the files would show up in the music player.
Besides, you can use the files however you want, I'm not forcing anyone to put them into /system, that was just my recommendation.

You went to phone ringtone/notification ringtone and there wasn't anything there? If done correctly there should be a very long list to choose from.
Did you reboot after pushing?
Ok so after further testing, it turns out that the only files that show up in the music player are the UI sounds. So I just deleted those (since they're all the same in all the ROMs I'm pretty sure, plus no one really cares about those) and now it works just perfectly when you put in your sdcard.
I humbly admit that I was wrong This should work better now, especially for those that were worried about using up /system space.
First post edited with new directions and .zip.
awesome! Thanks so much for making this! After RMing the media files from the system I gained like 20mb's that can be utilized in running apps and such. You're the man!
I tried installing this by putting them on the sdcard, and all of the sounds show up on the list, but everyone option I chose plays the same song on my sdcard :|
Ideas?
did you RM the system files? Mine works fine.

I merged your folder with the original media folder and rebooted but they do not show up...??
in case anyone is having trouble with this, there is a very clear post on how to do this here:

Download the latest Acer stock ROM to your PC (many stock roms found on this page). Transfer it to your external SD card and make sure to rename it "update.zip". Boot holding down volume and power until you see lines of text, then let it do it's thing
thanks for the info! I found a ROM on this thread.. not sure if its the latest 3.1 build.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154492
so I downloaded it to my PC.. comes as a ZIP file.. "update_3.1".. do I unzip folder & renamed it "update.zip"? or do I leave it zipped, rename it and transfer to SD card & boot up? again thanks for the help
Leave it named update.zip do not unzip
downloaded the update_3.1 file from that thread.
renamed folder "update.zip", left compressed.
transferred to external SD card on phone.
placed SD card into tablet, booted up by holding the power & volume button.
take you into SD update cmd: recovery..
its looking for the folder..
then comes on the android logo with an exclamation point!
no good..
might it be the ROM? any suggestions..

If you downloaded it from the first link, the file needs to be decrypted first. I believe the second link on that page from megaupload is already decrypted. But that would be where the problem is.
And yes that is the latest build from Acer for the US!

Right on! You know you can use clockwork mod to backup your system so it doesn't happen again.
You should use one of these versions, since your in the US.
4.010.07_COM_GEN2
4.010.08_COM_GEN2
4.010.11_COM_GEN2
4.010.13_COM_GEN2 (latest, not sure if it's posted anywhere yet)
The .40 version is not a US build.
interesting.. not sure what the difference is but can someone please post up 4.010.13_COM_GEN 2 & a how-to-install!

Just installed multirom and have a question. When you download a new rom zip, which folder are you supposed to put it in .
I assumed it would be the multirom folder, but I cannot find any way to move the zip from my download folder to the multirom one.
I have tried moving, copy and paste and about any way I could think of to move a file, but no go.It seems like for some reason access to the multirom folder is denied. I am sure it is something I am doing wrong and someone that's a lot smarter than me will clue me in.
Thanks

You can have it in whatever folder you want, when you go to flash the zip file in TWRP it will ask you to select the folder that the zip is stored in.
The multirom folder isn't accessible normally for performance reasons (Android's media scanner would spend a lot of time scanning the files in there, wasting CPU cycles and battery). If you really do need to access that folder though, there are other ways to do so.

Hi all,
I can't seem to get my obb folder to behave. After installing anything which makes a file inside it, the folder changes to a file inside any file manager including with root access.
In twrp it shows as a normal folder and can be deleted or edited, but once back in android, it reverts to this weird uneditable file...
Any clues? I can't (or rather won't) format internal storage as I don't have a micro SD and currently have lots of files in my root folder which I need in case of emergency (i.e. my twrp backups and some downloaded . zip files).
Any help would be appreciated! It's not an emergency I'm just trying to get a game working. Oh also, if it helps, when I try to download the game after folder has gone weird, play store gets to 99% then fails with error 0 every time.

You simply need to delete the obb folder from TWRP file manager.
If no success, connect your phone to pc and delete ithe folder from there. (or use some force delete software for your platform)

Hi,
I'm also facing same issue, did you find any solution ?
Please help me too..
Don't know if this means anything but if I go into file manager after a reboot it's fine for a minute or two then goes back to being weird. Can't put my finger on what causes it. I've uninstalled magisk, clean flashed my ROM, only thing left to do is format internal storage but can't do that until I get an SD card for my ROM files and backups to go on.

i also faced the above problem in almost every oreo rom. But in the below rom it is normal.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/development/rom-cosmic-os-v3-1-universe-t3730547. i am using this rom as daily driver.
Hi All,
I deleted obb folder from going into root >> data >> media >> obb
Choose file manager like es file explorer or Aroma file manager.
But this is temporary solution not permanent after some time same issue will occur again.
Kindly follow this thread to solve obb data lost on Oreo custom Rom.

Thank you so much!! I don't have an SD card at the moment, however, but happy to know a solution. Does anyone know the cause??
Is there a solution for this without SD card??
EDIT: I've noticed something. The issue described in this thread seems only to happen after connecting to WiFi and downloading apps from the play store. It doesn't seem to happen before I will do that. Hope it helps.

My theory says obb folder turns into file cause system link from data/media/obb should be revoked but I'm not smart enough to know how to create system links
I noticed that when I install the pubg mobile game manually I do not lose the obb folder, just like the friend mentioned above only occurs when the game is installed directly from the play store
For those who don't have rooted devices use this method until we get a fix
