[Q] - Help Firmware upgrade encountered an issue

Hello guys,
I am a S4 owner, coming from a rooted S3 with custom roms. I am trying to root my brand new S4 but there's an issue whenever i try to flash the CF-Auto Root, i get the following error <ID:0/003> There is no PIT partitionand FAILED on Odin.
The phone is not soft-bricked, as I can perfectly boot it up.
I don't know what i'm supposed to do, i am still on the official samsung stock firmware, i tried flashing CWM Recovery before rooting and after going into recovery mode I remembered that you can't have a custom recovery without rooting first. Did flashing CWM mess something up and it's causing me to get that FAIL on Odin?
Cheers.

Well, geez. I didn't say you had a bricked phone. Well have a look. I'm sure there is a pit file on xda, and I'm sure there are instructions somewhere.
This hasn't happened to me personally, but I've given you the basics of what I know.
If you don't want my help just tell me, but this is a forum for helping others and that is what in doing.

Sorry, fine. Just try getting back to stock via odin tar file from sammobile. Then try rooting again.

I know it sucks, but try to stay calm and deal with the immediate issue. Can you boot into recovery? You need to provide clear description of what's happening.
Going back to stock and starting again may be the best bet as the poster above said.

If i open up Odin the phone is recognized. What should i try? I am downloading my phone's stock firmware (Orange Spain) and will try to flash the file... i really really hope that fixes it. What do you think?

( Solved )SGS4 DO NOT ACCEPT formate or replace the Rom

Peace be upon you and God's mercy and blessings
I got SGS4 4G version. Since buy almost two months ago. I install recovery and root of the device and everything is normal. Before a few days I decided to update the device and installation of another rom available. Through the program of Odin in the first attempt appeared following problem: 'there is no pit partition.'
discussed the problem, and found that I must add a pit file during setup the rom. I did it, but there is a problem again :
'Complete write operation failed'
Solutions i make it:
trying to install more than 3 different rom.
Change Computer
change cable usb and experience more than 3 types
installed cooked rom ( ) succeeded
attempt to format not succeed,
through entry in recovery and wipe data ends and returns on, but device remains as it is, without any change.
You ticked repartition case that's why odin demanded a pit file.I think you used a wrong pit file you need a pit file that corresponds to your internal memory size and your device model.

Mate, NEVER tick repartition when flashing a rom with ODIN... This will require a PIT file and this can really brick your phone if you have the wrong one or a corrupted PIT file.
Flashing the PIT file is the last thing you do to recover your phone before sending in to service center...

Need Help, i Bricked my S5 and Odin is failing.

Hi guys, i have a GS5 AT&T SM-G900A. My phone is rooted with towelroot. Last night it got stuck on the android bootup screen and from there nothing else. I try to flash it back with Odin but it keeps failing. Anybody has any idea how can i get this phone to work again?

Of course you'd prefer a fast answer. We all do when something happens. But it's presumptuous to label a post urgent as if your personal predicament is somehow more important than everyone else's. I know that urgent labels discourage me from helping as much as I otherwise would. Certainly I won't subscribe to your thread unless you remove the urgent label.
You also failed to provide us much information. In particular critical details like an Odin log, verbatim Odin errors, Odin version, your firmware version, et cetera.
First, boot to recovery mode and wipe your system cache. Then see if your phone will reboot normally. If not, then you need to repair it with Odin. And no one will be able to more than guess at what you did wrong unless you provide more details.

Thank you sir, sorry about the urgent label. i am trying to take off the urgent label but i am not able to edit that part here.

An Odin log or even screen shot would be invaluable. And you still haven't told us the exact file name that you are trying to write to your phone with Odin?
At a guess, it's just Odin being temperamental. But I am only guessing since we don't have much information about your configuration yet. Odin is infamous for being sensitive to USB timing just like IOS is.
Use the newer Odin 3.09. Write a pre June 6th build of stock firmware to your phone. Temporarily disable any firewall, antivirus, antimalware, et cetera software on your PC. Do not use a USB hub. Try a different USB cable and USB port. The latter is important. Odin often fails because of a noisy USB cable. Use, borrow or buy a different one that appears to be well constructed.
Also crucial. Ensure that you entered download mode by pulling your battery and then pressing and holding in sequence volume down + power.. If your Odin write fails, do not close the Odin window. Pull your phone battery again, replace it enter download mode again and then press the start (write) button on the Odin screen again. It's important that Odin screen remains open through out.

First pull the battery, wait 30 seconds and boot in recovery mode and data factory reset. If that fails disable Kies in windows task manager. Power down, pull the battery and wait 30 seconds and then reboot in downloadmode and try again.
Thank you so much everyone, after many sleepless nights I finally figured it out. Somehow the firmware from sammobile wasn't working in Odin. I download one from here and it pass right away. Got my phone back

HELP! Failed to mount /data (Invalid Arguement) on reovery reboot!

Not sure why this is happening. I have a Verizon stock S7 and have never tried to flash or anything. I've noticed that this error message pops up everytime I go to reboot while in reovery mode. Whether it'a a factory reset/format data or a cache format. I've done factory resets fine since this error message so I'm not sure what it affects.
Has anyone else had this and what exactly does it mean?

Did you happen to try out the method I suggested then? You can enable those settings either after you successfully flash or if it still fails.
And I just wanted to rule out some possible obvious reasons as to why you cannot get it to flash, thanks for the info though, we're narrowing it down piece by piece.

Understandable, I would feel the same way. I guess just don't worry about it then until you ever feel the need to update your phone.
Just for S&G I went into my recovery and did not seem to have the problem you were having, I use the Verizon variant as well.
Good luck and sorry i couldn't figure it out.

Bricked? Note 4

Hey guys.
So i got an update a few hours ago, downloaded it and tried to install it. Everything was going normal, but when the 'system update installing' was at a 100%, it stayed there for a few minutes and then the screen turned black. Waited for like an hour but nothinig happened. So i pulled the battery and tried to reboot, but it directly went into download mode with the message:
Could not do normal boot.
ddi : mmc_read failed
Odin mode (High speed)
Rebooted in recovery mode, started installing the system update again, and the same thing happened. Basically i'm in a installing loop now.
So then i tried to install stock rom with Odin, but the process failed and got the message that there was no pit partition.
Tried to flash a pit partition, but got the messages:
File analysis..
SetupConnection..
Complete (write) operation failed.
Now i literally have no clue what to do. I can't do a full wipe because i can't get into actual recovery mode, and flashing something with Odin seems impossible too.
Does anyone have any tips? Really feeling lost atm.
Thanks in advance

Now i literally have no clue what to do. I can't do a full wipe because i can't get into actual recovery mode, and flashing something with Odin seems impossible too.
Does anyone have any tips? Really feeling lost atm.
Thanks in advance

N910F, running stock android 6.0
Go to note4/511 and download each and every file except for the one named as apq8084.pit.
https://mega.nz/#F!QIMmFRIT!Ns3AM-n0FUoMqOOWUif9ng
Load all the files in their respective slots of Odin.
Select repatriation, f.time reset and uncheck auto reboot.
Flash.
That's it done.
If you are still not able to fix your phone, then refer this thread:

This the folder in that mega link.
Yes, the firmware is 5.1.1, thats the only recovery firmware available for any note 4 model.
If you want to fix your phone, then this is the method.

Don't worry. Just keep re-flashing those files. I have had the same problem couple of times. It did fail, but 1 out of 25 flashes was successful, at least for me.
I also noticed that once I flashed the repair firmware, I couldn't just update my phone to its latest version. It kept failing.
There is a workaround for that. Remove your SD & SIM card, flash either the 4.4.4 or the 5.1.1 repair firmware until successful. Go through first time setup normally. Once at home screen, go to system updates and disable automatic updates. Then download "Dummy File Generator" from Play Store and keep generating (Full) & deleting dummy files 10-20 times until it happens smoothly and without any FCs.
Then download the latest firmware for your device and flash it through ODIN.
It failed once for me, but worked the 2nd time. I still have to use WakeLock manager so that the device doesn't freeze, lag or reboot automatically.
Caution: It is time consuming.

Thanks for your reply, but fortunately the problem is fixed. Shame is that I have no clue how lol. This morning after waking up (had the battery out the whole night), I started the device and it started updating again. But this time, instead of looping the recovery, it just normally rebooted, started optimising the apps and acted like nothing happened.. not even lost any files or anything lol. Very strange
That's good for u then

Oh. Great. I have had to re-flash so many times by now that I could probably work for Samsung and get paid well.
