I want to use android's default memory management and not have Samsung aggressively put apps to sleep. If I turn app power monitor off does it default to Nougat memory management?

Those two aren't even related.
Also how would this affect battery?

Applications can somehow reduce brightness more then natve settings can do . For example using cool reader I touched the limits of brightness which are not possible through native settings . This can save eye strain considerably .
Thanks.

can you fix it ?
btw there is also another bug I named it "The orientation bug" since if you lock orientation in landscape mode and press power btn to switch off the screen and then hold the tablet in portrait direction now if you switch on screen the tablet ill lock the orientation in portrait direction instead of landscape .
I'll give it a try later because it's not causing me a big trouble. I got notice the 'orientation bug' but I don't think it's a trouble too. Just hold landscape and log on. The screen also keep locking on landscape

Power Control Plus lets you add a brigtness widget that can be set to a quadruple control - low, medium, high, and auto. You can set the low, medium, and high settings to whatever you want, from 10% to 100%.
Works great lasts a long time B-)

I don't see the orientation thing as much of a problem. But cool read seems to disregard the orientation lock. I can lock it in landscape mode, then lay down to read and it switches to portrait mode. Aggrivating as H...
If you have tasker...you can set the brightness for whatever app you want and then have it go back to whatever dimmest you set.
I am confused about settings for the App power saving and Optimize battery usage on S7 edge for the apps that run in the background like :
Seeder: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987032
BetterBatteryStat: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Smart Wifi toggler : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sebouh00.smartwifitoggler
Super backup: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sebouh00.smartwifitoggler
What settings should I choose for them? Should I left them in automatic in App power saving mode and leave them as is it in Optimize battery usage? Since they are all background apps and doesn't need to open that often. Any suggestion will highly appreciated.

Unless you have have a specific battery problem I wouldn't worry about it and leave the default settings.
Android is pretty good these days at power saving.

Yes, battery drain 10% without a sim card on standby with wifi and AOD on. Also, will the default settings turn those apps function off ? Those apps needed to run in the background and do their work
I have a Galaxy S7. My carrier is Verizon. I recently received the Nougat upgrade for my phone. Everything was going great after the upgrade until I put my phone in Max Power Saving mode.
After turning Max Power Saving Mode off, I noticed that all my apps on the home screen were missing. The shortcut to my camera was missing. Most of my application icons were missing when looking at the full list of installed applications.
On restart, my camera icon returned. None of the shortcut icons I had on the home screen were there. All of my applications were showing up in the full list of applications.
I would like to find a way to restore all the icons I had on my launcher before the upgrade. They were there after the upgrade, but before I put my phone in Max Power Saving mode.
All help is very much appreciated.
Same Verizon Nougat Issues
I upgraded to 7.0 on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. BIG mistake! First, my keyboard became mostly unresponsive. Then after a re-boot nearly every App button left the home screens. Now, I cannot bring them back, because now holding down an APP button to move an App back to the home screen cannot be done. Nothing happens. Other issues are there, but these are the most important.

That's most likely your problem. Just factory reset.

Galaxy apps. It's pre-installed and is updated . Don't use it unless you keep fingerprint unlock on. It causes apps to not show. That's why I asked if you were using it.

The original main question (where did all my shortcuts go?) was basically caused by doing something that you didn't understand - turning On Max Power Saving. What did you think this would do? It made changes to maximize power saving which included remove other than default Widgets/Shortcuts. So if you like a heavy desktop with your choice of objects all over it that is OK, just turn Off Max Power Saving and then you can add whatever you want. Unless you enjoy these kind of surprises that come from "let me just try this and see what happens" it is best to research what the effects are before flipping the switch.
It's not about what he/she likes, it's about having unexpected behavior after turning USPM off. This was not an issue with previous versions of Android. Please make sure you understand the question.
Hello, is it possible to prevent app from being removed from RAM? I mean when it goes to overload that 4 GB of RAM, MiFavor won't be ceased, so i'm asking is there a way to do similary with other apps?

You mean that your apps close when you turn off the screen and turn it on after some time? how do you fill the ram entirely?
Reply
I mean forcing the phone not to remove that one app from memory even if ram usage reaches its limit.

It prevents app from being manually ceased with ,,Clear all" button. I'm looking for a solution similar what that app offers: Memory Locker

Lol. So you mean the padlock icon when looking at all open/recent apps?

No, because the padlock won't protect the app if RAM will be overloaded. Padlocked app still gonna be removed from memory. I want app to be secured such as Android OS, never to removed from ram.
Padlock will only protect app from being manually ceased, not by OS.
Are these settings ok?

You should use the the Put Unsuded Apps To Sleep option
also you can use the Automatic Optimization
Select some apps to Always sleeping
Use a lower screen resoution like HD+
Use Manual Brightness setting in spite of automatic one

The only reason I have Samsung's settings off is because Android has its own built in battery saving settings and app management settings. Surely Samsung's would interfere with that? Just skeptical of all these smart cleaner and smart optimization settings and apps that Samsung, Sony, HTC and some other manufacturers use.
