Here we have kernel source! - Huawei Mate 9 Guides, News, & Discussion

my question is? Are there any developers here in the US, or any other lying regions who can use the Kernal source code? if this is a duplicate thread, than apologies.
here is the link...

Yes, we used the source but there is a bug. When we build the kernel the Huawei Camera doesn't save pictures.

does the issue stem from R/RW permissions, or the ability to save to internal? Was the camera code left out of the source.

Camera works, it just doesn't save pictures you take. You can even see the preview of the picture for q couple of seconds, then it goes back to the last saved image. It's giving sqlite errors but that might not be why.

this phone has a real bad luck ?

Sqlite errors are easy to resolve.
You can get structure from working phone or analyze data that stored in tables.
Can you post exact error here?

Its not a sqlite error, I think it's a broken toolchain or something. I asked Huawei a few months ago and they told me that they have the same error and will fix it.

It was one of the things that logcat showed, but it might just have been a consequence of a broken toolchain.
I wish they'd update the sources, last I checked they were not updated. (a few weeks ago)

And, which version of firmware are this kernel sources related? the only data they provided is that is from the one released in May. Any info?

GPSSamsungRestore: Official GPS fix?

Samsung USA has tweeted the Market availability of GPSSamsungRestore, a GPS optimization app. Tweets have indicated that it is for the Vibrant and Captivate:
http://twitter.com/samsungtweets
maybe , some one using AT&T can help and upload the apk maybe ?
Hmmmm... I assume that it is only on the market in the USA because I searched for it under the names GPSSamsungRestore, GPS Samsung Restore, GPS Restore, etc. and I cannot find it on the market here in Canada.
I am assuming that us poor Canadians will not see this app anytime soon but I have posted a question on the Samsung Mobile Canada facebook page and I will see if they answer it. I doubt it though cause they NEVER answer ANYTHING!!!
Sure would be nice if this is the "fix" weve been waiting for...

You can change the .apk to .rar and extract the content.
If you can provide the .apk we could take a look into it

How would you modify the contents without the developers key?
I understand you can open the APK, but I thought that was only to remove/replace images

Right so I think what this app is for is to reset the gps so it works and then as time passes and it gets bad again you run the app again to start from scratch so it works again... Lather, rinse, repeat...
Im just guessing here and its not the greatest solution but if thats how it works it would be better than nothing...

Exactly. Samsung have probably been receiving complaints by many people who are gps "experts", so they wanted to provide support with an easy approach for dealing with them.
I wouldn't expect new drivers are anything like that, I'd simply expect it to reset the GPS setting file.

Is Samsung was receiving complaints from GPS "experts" then dont you think that these "experts" would have already stated "definitively" that the GPS cannot be fixed?
And if Samsung had been dealing with GPS "experts" then why would they release a software that would IMMEDIATELY be squashed by these same GPS "experts"?
I would like to think that Samsung may be finally listening to us all complaining and that this could even be just step 1 in the right direction to a useable GPS on this device. Wishful thinking I know but I sure hope so...

I think that "experts" is a sarcastic way of talking about all the thread playing with setting that doesn't nothing but changing configurations at random and only A-GPS settings.

AOSP Rom

Was able to get a ROM built and running based on LRX21V straight from source. Just trying to get a feel on how many people would want to run AOSP. There are some bugs present such as video recording causing the camera to stop working. I think there are binaries missing that Google didn't include in the binaries that are available. Same problem happened on the Nexus 5. Didn't test it much as I just purely wanted to see if it booted.
Also there is a lack of gapps available so I won't be rushing to get anything out. Let me know what y'all think and I'll try to tackle this to get some other options out for us.
Here is the test build for those that want to have a look. This is just a test build so bugs are to be expected. Video recording does not work. Haven't tested it completely as I need a fully working device this weekend. This is for those that have free time to just nit pick and find all bugs in this. Please report back after you are done and let me know what else you may have found that is broken or not working right.
Stock Google kernel (so if you flashed the kernel image to remove encryption your phone WILL be encrypted again)
Built off 5.0.0_r7 from AOSP
Flash ROM, flash gapps and flash SU that is linked below. This will allow root access on the stock kernel.
You can also optionally flash the custom boot image after flashing the ROM, gapps and SU by rebooting to bootloader and fastboot flash boot the custom encryption kernel. That is optional. Be sure to go back in to recovery after flashing the kernel to reflash the SU to make sure it was not overwritten.
Download Rom:AFH Mirror
Download Gapps for Lollipop:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=56810851#post56810851

That is pretty offensive. It is a new device and isn't in the developers hand so releasing work without testing their work leads to quality problems.
I don't see you doing any development work and developers don't owe anyone anything as they do all this work as a hobby pretty much.

I know the reasons behind it, which was the point of the "no offense." I wasn't whining. I was trying to help motivate and encourage OP. He, as well as others, are working on making things happen and I'm excited for it and waiting eagerly for the kernel source to drop.

No. Minor bug fixes for the particular device it was made for but that's it. I did notice on the N5 that there was a significant "miscellaneous" battery drain on r7. Might roll back to r3 if its present since r3 is the one for us (its also the same build for the N5).

These are automated; they run on my server. They don't rely on manual updates, so they should be pretty quick (the script checks every 10 minutes). Let me know if you have any issues with them. I have a channel for each Nexus device if you have others; check my signature for the full list.

Would be possible to add one for the flounder kernel source?
The branch "android-tegra-flounder-3.10-lollipop-release" is for android 5.0.x.
I think the branch for 5.1 would be something like "android-tegra-flounder-3.10-lollipop-mr1"

I have no problem adding this, I graduate today though so I'm pretty busy and won't be able to write the script until later tonight or tomorrow. I'll let you know. The other thing--there is an "android-tegra-flounder-3.10-lollipop-release" branch, but no branch for 5.1 similar to the name you gave. If that means it just hasn't officially been built out yet, then I can use regex to match for the initial push, but there may be a false alarm if Google ever pushes something out that matches the general format "android-tegra-flounder-3.10-lollipop-*" (other than the already-existing 5.0.x branch, which I would specifically ignore). Let me know what you think, I'm more than happy to do it.

No worries, Just giving a little heckling. Ironically enough, I got the push very shortly afterwards. I just chalked it up to the refresh frequency of the script.

Essential Service update available

Just for info
New update to Essential Services on playstore now, 2nd October.
Anybody know what the Services are for?
Edit: Says Bug and performance fixes. Maybe firmware related?
I just got my essential phone off of swappa and it's running build "NMI75B test-keys". For some reason I am unable to update any system apps via the play store while on this build. Camera, Essential Resources, and Essential Services are all showing updates available, but every time I've tried to download them I get error code 505. I think there is something with this test build firmware that is preventing me from updating system apps via the play store. Every other app (150+) that I have installed has worked flawlessly.
