I appreciate the kind of innovation Samsung instilled into their latest flagship, Note 2. However, does it stand up to the Oppo Find 5.
Samsung's Note 2 is a phablet whereas Oppo Find 5 is a mobile phone-proper, lol. However, the specifications of the Oppo Find 5 seem to stand out against the Note 2 in benchmarks despite the fact that the 441ppi phone lacks a microSD slot. What do you think?

I doubt it will be released in Germany (Never heard of Oppo), but beside that it looks quite nice.
But compare the Specs, the battery is less powerful and no SDCard slot, the sdcard slot would be 1 big point for me to not buy it, as i cant live without an SDCard.
Of course the Full HD Screen is a nice Extra, but on the Note2 the Normal HD Resolution looks alright as well. I mean the SuperAMOLED quality is just amazing..
Seems like it has the Same ammount of Memory (2gb) and a Camera with more MP (13MP), but as you know the MP Count doesnt make a camera good, the lower price would be a plus point for the Oppo one.
I dont know how powerful the Qualcomm CPU is so i cant compare it with the Samsung Exynos CPU in the Note2
Oppo 5 got better hardware but when u want to get sofware updates...:what:

Its more about the user experience, Samsung in essence took this fro Apple and emulated it. if we look at the HOX compared to the S3 the HOX failed IMO on the software front offering a buggy experience from release. Both the Note 2 and S3 offer a great user experience out of the box. Samsung have taken android and improved the user experience to a level that has surpassed both vanilla android and IOS.
Yes the Oppo looks the part and has the specs but without the magic Samsung have woven into Their recent phones it won´t in my mind make me or anyone using a Note 2 who has experienced other android phones to change.
Thats the first time ive heard of 'Oppo'. Looking at the design of the phone, I reckon they could be a contender in a couple of years time.

These threads always start when some company who aspires to be the next Samsung reveals pretty pictures and impressive specs of their latest device. If HTC, Motorola, LG, Panasonic, and Sony are struggling against Samsung and Apple in the high-end device market what are the chances Oppo, Huawei, ZTE, and Xiaomi are going to succeed? All the high-end devices third-tier manufacturers have launched have been months late (or disappeared after they were announced) and grossly under-performed similarly spec'd devices from brands we know. You're not just buying a device; you're buying service, support, and a company's commitment to their products and customers. That's far from assured with any of the third-tier companies. There's an old adage - "if something sounds too good to be true it probably is."

My brother has an Oppo blu-ray player, and it's absolutely brilliant. If it's the same company doing mobiles, they will be contenders - no doubt.
The Oppo Find 5 looks more like a competitor for the HTC Butterfly (Droid DNA) than a phablet like the Note II. The Huawei 6.1" phablet is more of a competitor for the Note II.
I want to thank you for making this post.
I had never heard of oppo find 5, and I will now be returning my note 2 since I just recently got it and am within the 30 days.
Note 2 obviously. Its unnecessary to have 1080p display, note 2 720p is already great. Find 5 lacks removable battery and external memory and probably will lack dev support for custom rom and the like too. But it nice to have a higher dpi for screen
Though I really like the design of find 5, I find samsung design for note 2 and s3 overly rounded at corners. I prefer abit more edgy like xperia and find 5.
Either way, note 2 still has great specs. Battery is better.
Overall I still prefer note 2 over find 5, not because I own one but it is more practical and well rounded support by samsung and devs, that would last me for next 2 yrs or so until I get another phone
Sounds like a ****ty Chinese phone that none of us will ever see or hear about again.

I can't believe people are taking it seriously. Does anyone have any idea how much money it takes to set up a global sales, marketing, distribution, and service and support network? And, being a Chinese company, what knowledge does Oppo have about device usage in Western markets? If you think Samsung, HTC, and Motorola are bad at updates how do you think Oppo will be? Someone mentioned they make great A/V equipment. Devices like Blu-Ray players and receivers are like 1/10 the complexity of a multi-radio wireless device. Viking makes great kitchen appliances; it doesn't mean that if they launch a phone that will be great too. What if the Oppo Find flops in international markets and they pull out? Who's going to service and support their device(s)? And what about dev support? Go look at the LG Optimus G dev forum. Tumbleweed. Devs develop for what's popular and without any carrier support I can't imagine there's going to be a huge audience for Oppo's phones. They could be in it for the long-haul, invest huge sums of money in infrastructure, and be hugely successful. Or they could be a one-hit wonder with a "pretty" but mediocre product. You guys can go first.
P.S. - The same thing applies to Huawei, ZTE, and Xiaomi.
And this is a September article from an A/V publication. If it takes two years to launch core A/V products what's their timetable for mobile devices?
After two years, Oppo has announced two new Blu-ray players, the BDP-103 and BDP-105, which feature HDMI inputs as well as outputs and upscaling to 4K resolution. Rewind the clock back five years and Oppo was the "go-to" brand for DVD players, with the Oppo DV-981HD one of the best models available at the time. Then Blu-ray happened, and Oppo saw little initial competition for its first Blu-ray player. But since 2009, the Blu-ray player market has shrunk: titans like Sony and Panasonic no longer make premium players and instead opt for cookie-cutter "wedges" with plastic build quality, yet good performance and cheap prices. Oppo has stuck to its design and philosophical guns, and has now released its third set of players, the BDP-103 and BDP-105.
Support & updates has been very good within Thailand for the finder.
I expect find 5 will do quite well here too as oppo has got reasonable marketing effort here & even the independent phone shops are retailing it strongly.
Finder is 460USD here which is a nice price for what you get plus does not die after 160days like the SGS3 ...
Will take lot of money & effort get the brand retailing well globally & the addition of Micro SD slot & a headset with a 3.5mm female jack would go a long way to increasing tempted buyers.
Hello guys, after a week spent reading news "any other business" on a variety of forum , I find myself having narrowed the circle of this blessed smartwatch that I would buy.
first of all I would like to stay on the 100 € and MUST have the know ANDROID
so my choice fell on these two models
iMacwear M7 http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_141989.html
ZGPAX S8 http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_99551.html
which of the two wins do you think?
which of the two is the most followed in the CUSTOM ROM?
I thank you in advance for any tips, even on models that I got lost and maybe are better than these two.
Thanks again!
ZGPAX S8 has more support on XDA. I was tempted by iMacwear M7, it looks good, but went with the ZGPAX S8 for that reason.
I may buy the iMacwear M7 also to see which I like better.
A few things I like better about iMacwear M7, larger battery, replaceable battery, easily accessible uSD card
A few things I like better about ZGPAX S8, better support on XDA, thinner, lighter, better camera placement
I love the design of m7, the only thing I did not understand, is the version that mounts Android 4.2 .. some of the mountain while the other 4.4.
on gearbest it says 4.4 who knows if it will be true ..
what do you think?
If you consider buying on gearbest, you should perhaps also have a look at the K8 android smart watch. I originally wanted to buy the ZGPAX S8, but I decided for the K8 because I like the design better.
the steve but k8 no have micro sd slot expansion.. the battery is low... why you buy this k8?

You are right, it has no TF slot, thats a weak point on the K8. I hope for me 4gb will be enough, at least I don't want to install big games on it. The other specs are quite the same like the zgpax s8 (btw, its a litttle tricky to reach sd card). The battery is 450mah on both, but the screen on the K8 is a little better with 320x320. I decided for the K8 because I like the design better, but thats just my opinion of course. I just wanted to show you as alternative.
but I thank you very much! really in fact this week I slammed a lot to find a good model ..
until now anyway I dwelt on m7, I've found at Chinavasion model with Android 4.4! so far it is the highest-rated!
then in truth I do not care even for micro sd slot, interests me more than anything else that has nice interface clock.
I just hope that it works well with the swapp link APP.
I still have this week to decide well!
I've been using a Galaxy Tab S 8.4 for a couple of years and I've been mostly happy with it. My tab has developed hardware problems and now crashes a lot. I'm thinking of switching to a different 8" pad with more recent firmware. Did anybody switch from a Tab S to an M3? Can you tell me the pros and cons off the M3 compared to the Tab S?
The Galaxy Tab S is the best tablet I've ever had. The only cons that I had with it is that the Exynos chip, unless you got the better Snapdragon variant. What largely disappointed me with the M3 is how the screen was calibrated, this is a bit subjective but I prefer the look of the basic mode on the Galaxy Tab S. If you've been in the adaptive mode then I doubt you'll dislike how the display looks. The M3 has bit of heft on weight in comparison to the Galaxy Tab S. The OS is purely disappointing and the DPI isn't similar to a tablet, so the UI of the M3 looks like it's a big phone. GPU performance isn't that big of a leap. What's really great on the M3 is its speaker. It's an absolute bliss listening to it. Also, build quality is a lot premium than the Galaxy Tab S. In my opinion the only route you'll have is to purchase the expensive Galaxy Tab S3 or a cheaper 1080p tablet from Lenovo, the Lenovo Tab 4 8 plus which has a snapdragon 625. You probably have the same dilemma as mine, I was spoiled by the 16:10 aspect ratio of the Tab S that I couldn't purchase any tablet with a 4:3 aspect ratio or I could be wrong.
Thanks, that's just the kind of information I was looking for. You're right, I like the aspect ratio on the Tab S and I don't want to switch to a tablet with a 4:3 ratio. It's really a shame that tablets don't seem to get much attention and that there are so few to choose from. I couldn't get by without my tablet.
Guess I'll have to compromise one way or another.
I loved my Tab S and when it took a nose dive off the kitchen side I instantly went to buy the same model for two reasons. Firstly, tablets haven't evolved much in the past couple of years and I didn't like the ratio of the Tab S2 and S3. However, when I saw that the Tab S was still north of £200 and not far south for second hand I decided to research into something newer. Main requirement was the screen ratio of the Tab S
Agree with everything mentioned above but will also add that the bonus of the bulk is 3 days battery versus 1 day on the Tab S along with a premium feel.
Overall I am really happy with the M3. The Nougat update removes the over sized phone GUI and improves the feel of the tablet massively. That said if I'd bought the M3 as an upgrade to the Tab S if think I would have been disappointed as it's not a marked improvement but certainly didn't want to return it once I started playing. BTW if you leave it in phone mode Google Assistant apparently !!
Development is limited but the Firmware Finder app does a pretty good job of releasing beta firmware and providing tools to install them.
Got a decent screen protector, case (although, dodgy colour) and hard tip stylus if you need recommendations
Tough call. I'm still hoping I can get my Tab S working well again, but if I can't, I may give the M3 a try. Thanks for the suggestions. I may be back soon.
I never had a Tab S but i did and still have a Tab Pro 8.4. The M3 is a great replacement honestly. The screen is bright and responsive. The speakers are a huge upgrade. The new UI 5.0 is decent. I wish there was more development for linage or similar builds, but you can still root this tablet if you want. I currently don't have mine rooted, and only reason I would right now is to enable the 5mhz AC band in the US. Otherwise, the original build is fine. Compared to the Pro 8.4 the finger print access is huge and the overall speed of the tablet make it night and day. I was able to get the 64gb internal storage one on sale from Amazon for a little over $275 so feels like a huge value to me compared to similar samsungs. I would wish there was not only more development but more 3rd party cases and such. Otherwise it is an amazing tablet and the only real option in the 16:10 situation. The new tab pro 8 4 has been gimped for all us models with only 16gb and 2 gb of ram.
oh hey
I'm in a similar position - I've had my Tab S 8.4 since it launched 2014, and since the S2 came out as 4:3 I've been looking for a "better" tablet, and not been able to find one.
(Why do Samsung always do this - First Galaxy Note 16:10, everything else 16:9, first Galaxy Tab S 16:10, everything else 4:3, why, why, WHY)
Reading a lot of reviews and opinions on this M3 when the S3 came out, didn't leave me overly impressed. But it's nearly 2018 and there STILL isn't a better tablet (eye heart amoled), and this is the closest it comes if you want an 8.4 inch, 16:10 Tablet that takes SD cards. 32GB & 3GB RAM is starting to ware thin so I'm going to take the plunge. Wish me luck.
EDIT: Actually, scratch that. I'm used to (circa-2010) HTC and current Samsung forums full of roms and changes - there doesn't even seem to be any customs ROMs for this tablet? If we hit Jan 2019 and this is still the only option, then I'll go for this. I seriously hope not.
Samsung loads useless software you can't disable. Huawei is a much cleaner. I stay away from Samsung now. Had a galaxy tab pro, yes the big one. Samsung makes good hardware, just buy the package disabler on play store. I like the Huawei, I can hold in one hand & read easily.
I had and still have the Tab S, well my daughter and son-in-law use it now. Development on this tablet is the only negative that I see. That and I am not a fan of the UI, but I just load Nova and bam, best tablet ever. I used to Root and Rom all the time, but android mostly does everything I want now, and you can remove most of the programs you don't use anymore. I was waiting to see if Google was going to release and 7 or 8 inch tablet and they didn't so this is perfect for me. Powerful, good battery and fits in my back pocket when I head to Starbucks.
I originally bought the Tab S to use as a light-weight alternative to a laptop while traveling, but then I found that with the long battery life, I was using it every day. I'm traveling now, but I'm going to take the plunge and get an M3 when I'm back home.

Seriousle, the M3 is the best tablet that I had. I also have the Samsung Tab S3 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014. The M3 is much faster than the Tab S3, by a substantial margin. Both are excellent tablets, and the Tab S3 targets different uses and users but for sheer compatibility and speed, the MediaPad M3 cannot be beat.
I also have a Tab S 8.4 and I love it. But it's a 2 years old tablet and the battery capacity is not as good as the first times.
So my first choice is M3. But I also have a OnePlus 3. I don't want to carry 2 charger so I'm looking for a type-c tablet. M3's micro usb charging slot is the only negative thing for me.
I'm also looking for a tablet that will go for 2-3 years at least.

Can't you just use the same charger with a different cable? I use a dual USB charger that I use to charge multiple devices. I can charge either my Android devices or my wife's Apple stuff just using the appropriate cable.
Helllo !
My previous tablet was a tab S 8.4. Media pad M3 is much better but I only miss the amoled screen .

I cannot use the Dash Charger (DS) with my Samsung TabS 8.4
I tried many different cables but DS do not charge it. I'm not sure if I'll be able to charge any other devices with DS bye th way.
My main reason for switching away from the Tab S 8.4 was the internal storage. Since it was upgraded to Marshmallow, updating apps became a pain because of the low space. Apart from the faster CPU, I thought the S2 & S3's were more of a downgrade. I've since switched to the Mediapad M3 64GB version and love it. I rarely travel with my laptop nowadays.
I like the fact that Huawei allows you to unlock the bootloader and rooting wasn't very hard. I haven't upgraded to nougat yet. I wasn't sure if the rooting procedure changed but mostly because Xposed wasn't available for Nougat yet. Now that Xposed is now available (https://www.xda-developers.com/official-xposed-framework-android-nougat/), I'll look into upgrading.
One caveat about the US version. For some reason, the 5GHz wifi radio was disabled. However, I was able to re-enable it via a tweak to a configuration file but it required root to do it. I'm not sure if it's still disabled with Nougat.
I made the jump and got the Mediapad a few days ago. One of the reasons I decided on the Mediapad was that I read that Huawei allowed the bootloader to be unlocked. As I've discussed in some other threads, I've been unable to get an unlock code from the Huawei website. Yesterday, I sent Huawei an email requesting an unlock code and I got a reply back saying that Hauwei US does not provide unlock codes and that unlocking would invalidate my warranty. WTF? They have a website to provide unlock codes, but they say that they won't allow it? Does anybody know what this means?

So I am looking for an Wear OS watch. Any ideas for a good watch and overall good. I had a Sony smart watch 3 and it was nice for what it was but looking for something better. Got a Nexus 6p for my phone.
Maybe Huawei Watch 2 or Ticwatch Pro.
Wysłane z mojego SM-G935F przy użyciu Tapatalka
If you want a cheap but good quality wear OS device, I suggest Ticwatch E. Changeable straps, android oreo, 24hr battery life, good build quality.
I can recommend the TicWatch Pro. A really nice device. First I had a Ticwatch E, but it's a plastic device and the haptical feeling is really cheap.
In terms of quality and design i can recomand emporio armani hugo boss ot tommy hifigher watch but in terms of features and battery all three are averege. Ticwatch pro is best option on marchet rigt now but all big producers are lawnching theyre new watches like huawei watch 3, lg urban 3, moto 360 3rd gen all are wright around the corner.

I really enjoy my Fossil Sport. Battery lasts me a day and half to two. Good for fitness, waterproof, and has the new chipset so it should only get better with the next WearOS update.
Also it's on sale now for less than $200 so it's a steal!

I got a fossil q g4 explorer and the Micheal Kors I like em both
I was finally time to retire my gear s2
Im a mechanic and its lasted over a year no issues But I the battery is killed over in the last few weeks
Is it still OK to "resurrect" a 1 year old post? Damn, last time I used xda was a life ago.. Anyway, back here for searching the same thing: Which smartwatch to buy.
I researched a bit and as for now, the 4 best choices are:
1) Fossil Sport
2) Ticwatch Pro
3) Huawei watch 2
4) Skagen Falster 2
But all of them are "some months old" already. So, not sure if waiting for the new generation or "f*** it imma get it anyway".
2) Ticwatch Pro
I have almost all Wear Watch (and Huawei 2) but the Ticwatch Pro is for far the better. 2nd LCD screen for always ON and not light emited like a lighthouse. Large OLED screen 1.4". Better battery life for all wear watch. Real innovation for a watch.
Last 4 posters: did you know that it's a year old thread?
Anyway I'm using Fossil Gen 3 and happy with it. The Gen 4 only ads NFC...
If you you are interested in a ticwatch, there is now a limited $50 / €50 off using code "Mobvoi50TY" during checkout. Will make the Ticwatch Pro even a better price/performance

Hi guys, I do not decide between 3 smartwatch, could you help me decide which one to buy?
Samsung galaxy watch comes with tyzen and rotating bezel
Huawey Watch 2 comes with android wear without rotating bezel
Huawey watch gt new model, I do not know if it's better than the Watch 2
Important points:
I think having a rotating bezel gives a positive point to the clock
So I have read tyzen is not well optimized strong point for android wear
Then i dont decide between samsung or huawey... By the way i love cool watch faces like fallout pip boy or super mario faces,..
Which of the two operating system / clock has the most support on wahtcfaces?
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME GUYS
Huawei Watch GT is just a Fitness tracker, almost zero smart.
Huawei 2 very Good smartwacth, maybe the best for Health and battery life but Wear OS little annoying.
Tizen Watch, not bad at all, more stable than Wear but not many app, but many watchface.

Yes Huawei Smartwatch 2 is the best of Wear Watch with better battery life. Just the screen really tiny with 1.2" vs 1.3" for Gear S3 or 1.4" for Ticwatch E. But all Wear Watch other Huawei 2 has a real bad battery life.
My vote goes for the Huawei watch. The Huawei Watch 2 is one of the most popular mens watches watches in recent time.
Some of the key features that give it an edge over Galaxy Watch are:
It comes in two editions (Sport and a Classic)
It has a 1.39 inch Amoled Display, which is much superior than Samsung’s 1.3 inch
The watch also boasts of a built-in coach functionality.
However, the Samsung Watch does possess one advantage which is it rotating bezel. It helps improve the interface.

Huawei watch 2 has an 1.2" display so really smaller than the 1.3" for samsung Galaxy watch (and S3). But some new smaller Galaxy watch has smaller display in 1.2" like the Gear S2.
1.39" is for the Huawei GT wich is not a smartwatch but an activity tracker.
Samsung Galaxy Watch is the best rated in reviews, has decent battery life and some apps that you can install.
Huawei Watch GT also has great battery life but it's a brand new closed platform with no app capability and Huawei don't have the best reputation for updates and bug fixes. Could be a great platform in the future but it's a hell of a risk at the moment.
Huawei Watch 2 is Android Wear so lots of apps but OS is so poor on battery life meaning no continuous HR monitoring or sleep tracking.
I would go for the Samsung - good platform and some apps.
