Wifi and YouTube issues with my Verizon variant. - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

I believe this has happened from day one but I can't remember very well. Turning wi-fi on and off, and switching networks causes tremendous lag, when it comes to animations and video playback. Why?
I get this horrible lag when updating apps from the Play Store as well.
YouTube also has it's own issues: 60fps video will start lagging behind, and audio will go out of sync. I've had instances where the video playback stops completely but the audio continues.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone?

It sounds like you have a very poor wifi connections.
Is your router/modem capable of 5g and did you check that the channel it uses has no other device on it.

My WiFi has been incredibly spotty lately. I will look into this.

RTSP Streaming Issues on EB13? Bitrate getting capped

Just upgraded (update.zip) Epic 4g to Froyo and have started having bitrate capping issues where the stream rate caps out at 375k. I am using a Monsoon Vulkano app streaming live TV over 3G. Before the update (on Android 2.1) I could get steady rates of 1.0-1.5k and it was a great picture.
The first time I started the app after the upgrade it was getting a fast bitrate but the video kept stopping because the app kept "optimizing". I thought it was an app issue.
I tried to test other app versions…. reinstalled 1.0.70 from the market, tried 1.0.54 and 1.064 and 1.0702T. Also tried restoring the app from my pre-upgrade backup. All versions have the same issue. I previously re-set the Sprint RTSP proxy to 0's to avoid the possibility of a proxy issue.
I thought it might be the 3G connection I also tried the 4g connection but same issue.
This issue wasn't present until I upgraded Android.
Anyone else having RTSP or other streaming issues after upgrading to EB13?
I've been having difficulty streaming youtube videos, even while on wifi. The stream will be perfect, then will buffer for 15 seconds before playing again. My wifi is a 10 Mbps connection so there's no reason for it to buffer

Thanks. I've already de-proxied my phone though. Still having issues.
EB13 is hit and miss. GPS fixed, Streaming issues. Install to SD Card, Camera Issues.

[Q] Potential WiFi issue

Hey,
I just got a TF300 and I've been trying to get video streaming to work on the tab. I'm using BubbleUPNP and I've tried about a dozen video players to go with it (dice player, vplayer, moboplayer etc etc).
The issue I'm having is that the video just randomly stops. I'm not having any issues relating to video quality or file formats. I'll be streaming a video and the video will just randomly stop, and because its streaming I can't resume at the same place I have to start again.
I have not yet managed to complete a single video without it being exited at a random interval. Its not always the same place, sometimes I'll get 20minutes in, other times 10minutes of the same video file.
I'm using iSedora media center to stream across my internal LAN. I've been using this program to stream to my TV without issues for over a year.
At the moment it looks like WiFi could be the culprit however
a) I've used WiFi Analyzer to find an unused channel for my router
b) I've tested the stream right next to my router at about -20dBm to -30dBm
Any assistance here would be amazing
Thanks
FMM
Try sharing the file over the network and playing it that way via a file manager that works on shares. This will take your streaming server out of the equation.
Sounds very similar to the problem i had with my TF101 after upgrading to ICS. I was never able to finish a streaming video anywhere. Usually stopped within 2-4min.
The TF101 decided it just didn't like the d-link AP we have here anymore.
Not sure what router you have but try toggling settings such as:
Mode Settings: (Mix mode) vs G Mode - Mix Mode worked better
&
TX Rates: (Auto) vs Manual - Auto worked better.
Also interesting, after upgrading to ICS & running the speed test app the device was clearly being throttled @ ~3mbps from then forward. Prior to ICS it was testing at full (slightly variable) speed w/no issues.
Edit: I too used wifi analyzer & didn't have signal issues.
I received advice from the author of BubbleUPNP that its likely wireless dropping out, however I've tested it with about -20dBm signal strength, and I can't imagine getting it any better than this.
Apparently the TF300 has some issues with playback in rare occasions where it will just crash playback mid video and a factory reset can correct this. Giving this a go at the moment.

Might find some other help there :]

I've been trying this too using ES File Explorer and a variety of players and its a bit choppy, so I've just traded for play back problems.

[Q] Varying results using nexus player on different routers

Hi guys,
So I just got the nexus player for Christmas. After struggling through wifi connectivity issues, I finally managed to get the NP up and running. However not perfectly. Far from it.
I've trialled using the player on two different wifi connections:
1. My home wifi network running on a tp link dual band 1900AC modem router
2. My wireless access point set up on my phone
I've had the best results on my phone's AP, where pretty much everything works, until the connection drops after 1/2 an hour or so. My home wifi network is much less successful.
When connected to my home wifi network, I have the following issues:
1. The Google play store never shows any apps. It's just a blank page.
2. The play music app shows results, and music appears to initiate, but music doesn't actually play. The progress bar doesn't move.
3. The YouTube app won't yield results for any searches. YouTube clips from the home screen play just fine though.
Is anyone able to shed some light on this for me? I'm baffled. I can't fathom any plausible explanation for these issues. The problem is clearly related to my modem router, as I don't have these issues with my phone's AP. But why would some functions work fine (YouTube videos playing from home screen) and others not work at all (YouTube app yielding no results). All this while it all works fine on my phone's AP??
Please, your assistance would be valued greatly.
Oh and merry Christmas all!
I wish I had a solution for you, but I don't. I too have had issues with the Nexus Player dropping its connection, and with the blank tiles related to a lost connection. I love the NP when it works, but it's really buggy.
Actually, here's something to try. Do you normally have your phone's AP always running? I have two wireless networks in my home, and I found that when my NP "remembered" the settings for both of them, I'd get regular disconnects. I have the NP set to only remember/use one network, and I've been getting less dropouts.

Thanks so much for the reply! Turned out it was an issue with my ISP! Frustrating to learn it wasn't an issue at my end at all, but at least it's fixed now. ☺

Plex Lockup

Plex seems to lock up when streaming to the Nexus Player using 5.1. I have all settings set to default, except local streams set to maximum. I am about a meter away from my ac68u router, so bandwidth should not be an issue. It tends to happen about 10 minutes into a movie and doesn't seem to happen all of the time, just when it seems to feel like it.
Has anyone found a sweet spot on the configuration to alleviate this from happening?
Turning off Direct Stream seems to help.
spoke to soon.
Try plex tool for direct play maybe =/
