We have figured this out. It was the setting for comfort view. Not sure why it is doing that but it is now working since we took this off.

AT&T G2 Screen and Screen Color

I just got my G2 from BestBuy for AT&T, And holding it right up to my Optimus G Pro like going to the Menu or something white its such a bright pretty WHITE, but on the G2 its kinda warm white and its terrible! Compaired to my G Pro. Anyone else?
Also you know when you push real hard on an screen how it makes well hard to explain dont know what its called but I dont have to put much pressure on the screen and its like im putting a ton of pressure on it to make it do that.
Noticed the same things. Compared to my nexus4 the white is muuuuuch more warm/brownish on the g2.
Its one of those things that only really bugs me when i hold them side by side but hopefully a custom kernel down the road will help sort this out.

Well if this tint does not go away by tommrow back to Best Buy Goes the G2..
Run around to a couple stores and compare, maybe just some have the warmer tone, and some cold. That's a common issue with most phones and for the first time I don't really seem to mind. I much prefer warm to cold screens.

I wish I could do that, Closest 2 AT&T Stores are about an Hour Away! And they only had demo phones, I had to go to best buy which is also an hour away directly across from one of the AT&T stores Or I`d just go swap it out.
OP, are you gonna remove the 'AT&T' from the notification bar and change the ugly 4G logos like you did for the Optimus G Pro?
please say yes

Looks like the screen has some variences. Here is a great first impressions video of the Korean version where the screen is slightly cold/blue. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=JV4ATKeVmKc#t=529

Yea I wish that was mine:/
i didn't try yet..but when you root and install trickster mod, right out of the box there's color calibration..i guess the kernel supports it?
I went and exchanged it, It still a tad warm colour, But the redish warm tint is not in this one like my first one
Time to Root after my shower and do some Build.Prop tweaks to turn remove the stupid AT&T software mods

if you figure out what to change to get rid of content adapative brightness (that thing where the screen always dims and gets brighter based on whats on the screen, even wtih auto brightness off) tell me please.
i've already uninstalled the content adaptive brightness app built in, rebooted, and it STILL does it..

Have you tried doing this 3845#*800# to get to the service menu and turn on The 2 thermal settings to ON? Try that, Let me know if that works It also in the Optimus G Pro but it seems to be on the G2 as well

Display adaptive brightness based on environment.

Hello. I have a question about the display. Have you noticed if you open a dark image (black background) and then you get a message or open a little white windows (for example in google chrome you can just have a dark environment and can tap on three little dots to open a white windows) the screen increase its brightness a little and if you close it goes back down? I read about adaptive brightness but it was not listed within the specs of the v20. I have a G4 (no bootloop so far) and it does not change the brightness like the v20 does. Or could be the contrast that changes based on what is shown on the display?

It does not seem to affect the phone but I just want to know if this is a normal "feature" or we just have a broken display. Thanks for your reply.

I believe it is some sort of way LG implemented for the IPS display on the V20 to seem like it has darker blacks to compete with AMOLED displays, or simply to look "better?" Just a guess.

oh well, good to know. Thanks. Now that you mention it, it certainly looks darker than my lg g4.
this has been happening since the g2. I remember posting about it in the g2 days. I hated it but don't notice it as bad on the v20.

Can someone tell me this exact part?

Hi guys
I have a used V20 but the colors of the icons etc are quite dull compared to my wifes V20 and also the whites are more yellowish when compaing side by side. Which part of the phone affects/determines the LCD colors? Is it the digitizer itself or does it have to do with the mainboard producing the colors?
Thx!!

May be comfort view is turned on? It's intended to yellow the screen.

Thx
Activate the high contrar mode either with the high contrast theme or the option(i dont remember where it is in the settings)
Sorry for the double comment

Yes i have it turned on. Screen colors are still quite poor compared to my other V20. Colors seem faded a bit.
Im thinking maybe its due to age or wear. But our phones arent THAT old.

Finally we get dark mode for pixel dialer!

Here you can see
That looks really cool!
How did you get it? Version no.?
Nvm... Got it from apkmirror... v26
Thanks for sharing!
Just installed it... very cool.
Thanks for the heads up, also if you were trying to hide a real number for home, I would recommend remove the photo.
I can still make out the numbers in the screenshot.
Google seem to have totally missed the point, it's all greys not blacks

Google didn't miss the point, the idea was to give the user an option, in their apps, of a DARK skin, not black!
Dark gray is a fine option.

Given they stated power savings as one of their reasons for doing it, yes they did, black saves power on an oled and dark grey makes an oled look like an LCD.

Totall agree... Black skins are awful and looks old, like andoid 4 ones. Google should have all their apps in dark mode, I don't understand why they are launching them one on one...

.
True...
Grey means those pixels are 'ON' and thus are consuming power.
So what's the point?

I don't know. Not being blinded by all the white and instead being greeted by a more aesthetically pleasing and easy on the eyes grey, I guess. Black would be so Android Gingerbread, so 2010.
It's enabled on mine but I don't have the option to switch it back off. Any ideas?

Disable Dark theme in your settings of the phone. When dark theme is enabled, the apps automatically default to dark mode.
Ah! The good old days of of Gingerbread and Jellybeans!

I agree. Pure black just looks so... junk. The dark grey is nice.
That being said...when the hell is Gmail getting dark mode? Anything on that yet?

You do realize that the phone number you tried to paint over is still clearly readable?

warm display?

Anybody else feeling that the diaplay on this device is slightly warm? Or have yellowish panel?
Any workaround or i have to replace the device?
Very warm imo.
I changed the ROM and playing with screen color settings, I could get a white white.
Why not go into display settings first and try to calibrate it to your liking.
