This is the message I keep getting when ever I plug the usb cable into my phone to computer. I have tried using different usb cables but it is the same results. I checked "adb devices" and it shows my device, but it never pops up the "Allow" screen, just the message below.
The only thing that I can think of that is different, is Windows 10 Updated to Build 16232 this morning and I think that is the problem. The computer will not communicate with the phone now. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this problem?

Ok I have updated to build 16241 on Windows 10 and the problem has gone away. So it was Windows 10 and not the phone causing this problem.

Static electricity.. have read about it in some guides and articles..
The best would be to use a magnet attached to your USB cable. That should prevent shutting down... Digital camera's usually have included this kind of cables.. It's even required to meat some ISO guide-line

Use a USB cable with that bulky thing attached to it. Some network cables have them too... maybe you can take it off easy..
DO NOT USE A regular magnet!! it's too powerful and might damage more than you think!
thnks, ill try it and get back to you....
you learn something new everyday.
Hello,
Recently I'm not able to mount my Nexus 7 on either my desktop or laptop, my laptop has windows 8
so does my desktop, i did however try ubuntu but still no luck.
It only started recently.
my desktop recognizes my Nexus 7 in devices manager but that's it.

I believe this started after i installed a custom ROM, but i don't think it's related because
i can't even mount it in recovery
EDIT
I can get it to sort of mount on ubuntu
however trying to access internal storage brings up the same window you see
in the screenshot in another window and so on
Found out that if i connect it as camera (PTP)
it shows up
but as soon as i switch to MTP nothing.
OMFG!! FIXED IT!!!
Had to update ADB drivers
If you are using the original cable and a good usb port it is likely a driver problem. Try uninstalling any nexus driver in device manager, plug it in and let the drivers re-install.

Pretty sure it's not a driver problem, have the latest installed already.
Every time when I connect my 6P to my laptop through type-c port, a prompt that says USB device not recognized

will show up.
However, if I switch to usb 3.0 port, it works like a charm.
No problem here running Win10 Pro and using USB 2.0 ports. Connects up with no issues and transfers files just fine.
Using a gigabyte board with native usb c port and all works just fine. I would hunt down the driver from the specific hardware manufacturer.

I had this problem briefly on my Windows 8 laptop. It turned out that Windows was using the wrong driver and I had to forcibly uninstall the driver (via Device Manager).
I then detached the 6P and reattached it. Windows was then able to pick the correct driver and everything worked fine after that.
I recently tried connect an thumb drive via OTG cable on my H870DS, and each time a popup prompted me to selected the connection mode (see screenshot attached). Is anyone having similar?
I'm wondering what each option means, and how to change it if I made one a default. Thanks

1st option is to charge your phone, 2nd is to charge something connected to phone, 3rd and 4th are for file transfers, don't know what 5th is, as u stated u connected with u need to select file transfer and click just once on the bottom or click always depending on what ur needs are, u can always change it in developer options, hope this helps.
I have the same problem with my h870ds. That menu pops up but no OTG devices are ever recognised whatever option you choose. No good answer found for this.
Same issue, used to work fine. Now I cant get it to work at all.
Hey everyone, I had an issue with my new Pixel 2 XL not showing up in My Computer. ADB worked, Fastboot worked, charging worked, just did not show up in My Computer even though I was receiving the audible alert that the device changed modes.
So I went into Device Manager and saw that my Pixel was coming up under ASUS Android Device (Darned Asus). I had an Asus Zenfone Zoom 3 a while back so I figured that must be the culprit.

Uninstalling the device when the phone was plugged in worked... until the next PC reboot. I had already installed the Asus drivers through the Control Panel in windows a while back so that wasn't where to look.
I went back to Device Manager and enabled Show Hidden Devices when the phone was unplugged and saw three different phones under ASUS Android Device.
Right clicked on each one and chose uninstall
Now, even after a reboot, my drive no longer says Asus and my Pixel shows up in MTP mode.
Hope this helps someone.
You really should be getting the drivers from the SDK.
