WiFi (REAL) advanced options - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Hi guys,
is there any way to show real advanced wifi options, such as static or reserved IP, gateway, dns and so on?
I've an italian TIM branded LG G6 version, and the only advanced option in wifi section is the automatic reconnect.
Thanks a lot!

Check you've got the following settings in "Configure Wireless Network" on your Exec:
General tab:
Network name: NETGEAR
Connects to: The Internet
Network key tab:
Authentication: WPA-PSK
Data Encryption: TKIP
Network key: [whatever it is]
Also, make sure your WiFi network adaptor in your Exec is configured for static or dynamic IP, whatever your network router is set up for.

Don't forget to reset your access point. Sometimes a simple reset takes care of the connection problem.

Does it work on the HTC Universal?
Yes the software is written for PPC. And the screenshots are windows 2003.
It should work on HTC Universal. I'm testing the software now. (only 9 Euro's) It should create more overview when configuring the WiFi network.
Benefits of pocketWinc:

I tried the software but it doesn't support Qtek Universal.
The tool doesn't recognize the wifi adapter. Note that i did turn it on.
I hope they will support the Universal soon!

Hi WizzarD-me,
If you are looking for a WiFi scanner. Try WiFiFoFum, it works great on the Universal.

Update
I was thinking. Since the option for connecting to the internet automaticaly does not indicate a WiFi connection... the PocketWinc program didn't find the WiFi cause i had my phone connection online.
After closing the program and turning of the phone connection and enabling the WiFi connection the program recognized the WiFi antenna.
Still experimenting with it at home. It has a Wifi Sniffer option in which you can set a WiFi sniffer interval. The program remembers the networks and you can set you favorites and even remember the settings on those.
The reason i set this program on this post was and still is for the overview of settings the program provides. You can sellect the network SSID and create a report of the IP configuration. There are several other interesting options like ping, trace route and more.
PS thanks for the link. I will check the WIFOFUM thingy
If anyone has the time could they help
I need someone to talk me through wifi..
I have xda exec but cant seem to get connected via access point..
I have installed the above software and wififofum. but nothing
Please help
router to have;
- ssid created, suggest a family name or similar, broadcast it
- dhcp enabled and auto control
- enable wep encryption (128 or 64 bit)
- use a shared key 9usually a choice of 4, pick one)
universal needs:
- wifi turned on!
_ start - settings - connections - network
- ypu should see it searching, cancel auto detects, do it manually
- in connections, add
- insert info above
* ssid
* choose wep encryption, shared, remove auto, enter the choosen key, txice
* slect and tell it which key number you chose (eg 1-4)
those are my settings to get it working initially
You can later if you want disable your dhcp, dns, wins n stuff
you may want to consider stopping broadcasting ssid later to prevent people looking for the network, but the wep key encryption should prevent all but the most enthusiastic genius from using the network.
this works on my netgear system.

Need a network manager

Is there some kind of available software to better manage my WiFi networks? My home network needs a static address, but most others are dynamic addressing - and it is a pain to have to switch back and forth.
Is there any software that will allow it to remember the settings for a particular network?
Thanks

Wi-fi and hsdpa

Hello everyone,
this is my first post here.
So far I found any info i needed in this forum. And i can tell.. this is not a forum, it's an enciclopedya. So I give you all of my complimentes and thank you so much for the job you all are doing!!
Now I have one question that hope you can answer.
In wi-fi setting, network adapter, I see "IEEE 802.11B/G compatible network adapter".
Is this the same adapter used to connect to my provider HSDPA?
I did manually set IP and Gateway for my phone to connect my home-wireless and after that It stopped connecting to my ISP!
I managed every kind of configuration, I even called my provider to check for black-out of service, and eventually I had to hard-reset and It worked again.
After Hard Reset I set-up my wi-fi IP addresses again and then I realized this broke the connection to my provider.
Hope I was clear and I'm here to ask if my reasoning it's right.
Thank you in advance.
IEEE 802.11B/G == wifi == nothing to do with phone networks
When you turn on your wifi it should automatically find available wifi networks in the vicinity. Should be no need to enter IP & Gateway manually into device. Your wifi will most likely be password protected (if not set this up immediately). When you try and connect your HD it should prompt you for your password. Enter this and then your device should be connected
first, thank you for your answers!
well, the reason i manually set up gateway is because i've got two different devices: 1 as gateway and 1 for routing and access point. i have just solved that problem by setting default gateway in my access point config. now my blackstone connects to wi-fi without setting any parameter.
anyway i still have the idea that previous configuration broke my phonenetwork connection?
what do you think?

Edit WiFi's ip settings

Hello,
I would like to connect my HD2 to my home WiFi network. The network requires statis ip from each device.
Is there any way to set ip + dns for wireless card in my hd?
This option is not available in HTC's settings. Usually it was simple Start > Settings > Connections and then you were able to pick proper card and do all the tricks.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Cannot connect to my wireless network

Hi,
When I turned my HD2 on for the 1st time the device detected my wireless network and asked for the key to allow it to connect to the network I entered the details and everything seemed ok. However it is always showing a status of connecting it never actually connects.
I went into the wireless LAN settings and in advanced tab the IP is blank.
Can anyone please help?
Cheers, Dave.
I just think I have fixed it. I have installed the Advanced Config from Touch Experience and looking through network settings I noticed that WPA authentication was disabled and by default it is enabled. Changed and rebooted and I now can access PC's on the network and the IP is no longer blank.
Thanks, Dave J.
