Rooting Moto g4 play with current warranty - Moto G4 Play Questions & Answers

I was wondering if rooting and installing a custom ROM will be very risky. I had previous experience with my still working s3 mini. The question is: is probable that it can have a fabric imperfect?? I had 1 month using it, and I hadn't any problems.
Sorry for my bad English.

Just get twrp

After thinking a lot (5 min :v), I decided to unlock get TWRP and a custom ROM. So thanks.

You have 78 posts, but still you post in the wrong section -___- You better not flash a new ROM on your phone, because somehow you will make a mistake in this too, no matter how easy it is.
Me Gusta!
Hi, i've bought my S4 2 weeks ago. First i did was to accept the new firmwareupdate by Samsung. As i know now, this was a mistake, cause of the new bootloader.
But after rooting and flashing the EchoeROM, everything is fine. No bloatware anymore, great Kernel with super performance...
I think, if you will root your phone, you can try all the awesome custom Roms. If it's not good for you, you always can flash back to stock.:cyclops:
Back when I bought my S4 the first thing I did after my phone booted for the first time was the gaining root access. Just a few days later I flashed the first custom ROM and it was awesome. For me an unrooted Android is not the full Android experience.

Problem reports' posts are much more than developement's ones. So it may be easily understood why wrong placed posts do exist...

no way.... all custom sucks
no match for TouchWiz still few ppl thinks using PACMAN/CM/PA/SLim/etc is moreeeee helpfull
but no HD icons on custom ROMS this sucks
For me rooting is a must I live in South Africa we receive our first ota firmware a few days back, since the phones release!Custom roms are therefore a must. But even if we were getting more frequent updates I would still root my phone because I love it!!!!!!!!!
Hi,
I installed AOSP 4.3 and I'm happy so far, very stable, fast (you don't know how S4 is fast until you install AOSP) and beautiful! Also, did I mention no Samsung ***** bloatware xD?
All the best,

Phoenix rom 9.0 no sound and random reboots GTi9500

Hey everyone, to make a long story short I'm one of those damned souls that installed chainfire 3d on a non gingerbread device (yes I did not read the description properly but seriously, who is using gingerbread in 2013 and why hasn't the app been taken down from play store?) And pretty much did not find any help anuwhere on how to remove it short of going back to stock or installimg a custom rom.
I did not have backup of nand or anything because I did not plan on installing a custom rom, anyway I imstalled phoenix rom 9.0 and it's okay but I have NO SOUND whatsoever and phone reboots itself mostly when I try to edit something I'm typing with the cursor such as this parragraph.
I could not find a stock rom for my phone, i9500 factory unlocked artic blue, box says it is the model "for the americas" and has the letters UD.
There an ota update for phoenix rom 10.1...would fix my issues? Or will I have to install something else? I would prefer a custom rom that's as close to stock as possible and it has to be 4.3 because I can no longer go back to 4.2.2 it seems because a change of bootloader...

Just to clarify, I do know the chainfire3d thing is my fault and no one elses...

Need advice on TWRP for Sprint on Android 4.2.2

I am looking to install TWRP on my wife's newly acquired LG G2. I have already rooted it using ioroot22.
I am looking at using adb to install TWRP. Is this recommended? I have seen some things about the newest firmware not being Loki friendly, and needing to downgrade the about or some such.
I just want to make sure I am using the best and most current method.
I have searched both here and elsewhere, but I am still confused. In a nutshell, I want to know:
What is the best method for installing TWRP?
Do I need to downgrade anything first?
What is the easiest way to do this?
I have rooted our previous phones [EVO 3D, one with a locked bootloader and one with an unlocked bootloader), my friend's Droid RAZR, my current Note 3 and my Tab 3. So I'm not entirely new at this. But I haven't used add since my 3VO (wife got the unlocked one). I'm hoping to avoid it if possible. If not, well, I haven't PERMANENTLY bricked any phones so far, so I'll go that route.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Also, should I just wait for the KitKat update for the G2 to even start messing with my wife's phone?
Edit: used FreeGee app, no adb. EASY and headache free.
Mods please close thread. Sorry.

[Q] I think I rooted....

First time Android user. I jailbroke several iphones in the past but just learning about rooting. I just did the towelroot, now what????
What is cyanogenmod? Do I need it?
Thanks for everyone who helps out!
Download rom manager from play store and use it to flash a custom recovery.. It should be simple
After that you can flash cyanogenmod which is a ROM that changes your phones interface to almost stock android with some added features

Thanks for the quick reply!!! I downloaded that and the first thing was a recovery setup. It said I needed to install clockworkmod Recovery. I attempted to do that but it said my phone is not supported..

oh right cwm doesn't support S5 yet. anyway there's another recovery other than cwm you can use which is twrp.. download goomanager from playstore and use it the same way to install twrp

As far as I know the ATT S5 has a locked boot loader and hence cannot use custom recoveries or ROMs. For now you are stuck with the ROM you have. You are able to modify your ROM now though.

Two things you should consider..
First of all, if you install a custom kernel/recovery, it will void your warranty (this is called as tripping the KNOX flag). Currently, this is something that you cannot fix by yourself and if your phone breaks Samsung may or may not fix it. But that doesn't actually matter since your phone is on ATT and that one is bootloader locked anyway (which means that currently you cannot flash that recovery anyway).
Second thing is that currently CM11 is pretty broken and some features like GPS and Camera aren't working. It will take some time before people manage to iron out all the bugs and even then it might not be perfect.
My advice is that you should first try to get familiar with the phone and then start thinking about modifying it since you aren't used to Android phones. While rooting might give you some functionality you normally wouldn't have, it's not really something that you'll absolutely need. Even out of the box Android is still way more capable and customizable than iOS and most of that stuff doesn't need rooting.

Looking to unlock bootloader & root. What's best? Advice please!

So this is my first Motorola android device.
Got it second hand last weekend. And I have already sent it to Motorola's repair centre. SBE UK. I received it back today.
I was having battery problems and problems when resetting phone and not being able to then set it up properly. They have 'repaired' the device which seems OK.
Just now I'm looking to root the stock app. Mainly for xposed and gravity box and ad blocking. As I'm happy with the rest.
It is the XT1572. Running latest MM stock 6.0 rom. Now can I unlock bootloader and flash a custom recovery and root this MM rom?
Also having to unlock the bootloader is the only option available using the Motorola option and getting my unique unlock code? As that will 'void' warranty.
Also if I do unlock, flash a custom recovery and root. Is it easy to get back to stock if needed.
Thanks for the help.

I would suggest learning how to read and then checking out the stickied threads in the general forum.
Thanks for the polite reply. I know how to root and flash a custom recovery. But every device is different. I have come from a one plus one so know what's what.
But haven't come across a system's root. And I couldn't find a stock factory firmware/rom for my UK variant of the 6.0 rom. But thanks for your help.

Your questions have all been covered. No one is trying to be rude. There is just no reason to rehash well covered topics that with a little searching and reading you could find the answers. Everything you asked i learned in less than an hour just doing searches here on xda.
As far as restoring to stock, i haven't really looked too much into it. However i believe you can find the stock ROM on Motorola website for developers. Don't have a link but I have come across it to see if they offered it.
No it's fine I've done it all now just never come across systemless root before. And with the one plus one always had a route to get back to factory stock. Plus just wanted to know about the unlocking procedure and if Motorola do refuse to repair phone if it's requested it's unlocking code. I've got a few questions about systemless rooting which I couldn't find when I searched. But I'll just carry on and keep questions to a minimum in the q/a section. Thanks guys.

If you have questions that have not been addressed in these forums then ask in a post. That is the purpose of q&a. Just make sure you keep on subject.
