I've had my note 4 for around 48 hours now and I'm shocked and appalled with the performance. It lags so much in almost anything you do from Web browsing to scrolling feeds in apps. I've never been this dissatisfied with the performance of an android device since the HTC Hero.
Why are more people not complaining about this? Are any of the custom roms out there fixing this? My device is N901F.
You must have a defective phone. Mine does not lag at all.
Sigh*

All Samsung devices are very laggy when in stock condition. That's Touchwiz for you.
I've owned the s3, s4, s5 and the note 4, and i can say without a doubt that this is the least laggy samsung phone I've ever used. and in all honestly, it tops the charts with the LG g2 as the least laggy phone I've ever had, period. idk what you're doing, but my phone flies 247.

Maybe because you're obviously a die hard Samsung fan is why you think this phone "flies 247". I can assure you compared to other current flagships it's a pig.
My only decision right now is to try some other roms or just sell it. Will never buy another Samsung again though. SwiftKey is even struggling to keep up while I type this.....

Have you tried a factory reset? The retail Note 4 is not rooted yet so you won't be able to flash a different ROM.
I have only one suggestion, Nova Launcher and use all the " Faster than Light" stettings
I've had my N4 for 4 days now, came from a BB device. I am very impressed with the speed and how fluid everything has been working. I've installed new mail, calendar apps, been web surfing and playing with Themer and haven't experienced any lag at all. Start with reset and go from there.
There's a little lag, but not as much as older Samsung phones, much less than the G3. Maybe yours is defective. I agree with other people, being a jackass and calling people fan boys won't help you.
As for Swifykey, it's been nothing but a laggy bundle of hell for a long time for me no matter what phone I use. The Samsung keyboard owns it.
lets face it I have vzw n4 and it sometimes does lag.
Cache clear/wipe helps.

LMFAO. furthest from a die hard samsung fan, buddy. rather than just speak out your ass, do research first. if you go through my post history you'll find I've criticized the s4 on so many occasions of it being a slow, laggy, over heating pos. I had it for like 3 months before I put it aside and used my HTC dna as my main phone again.
I had the s5 for 7 hours, hated it, and returned it.
then I had an LG g2 for over a full year, which is the longest I've had an android phone.
if i were ever a fan boy, it would have been an htc fanboy back when I had the dinc, rezound and dna. I had an s3, which was a great phone at the time, and then once ics hit it, it became unusable and laggy.
look through my post history and find tons of posts complaining about samsung lag and how I hated touchwiz.
the note 4 is finally a good product from Samsung, and that's coming from someone who couldn't stand their lag since like 2012.

Clearly a defective device, unless you're trolling around. My device only lags when using the messaging app to text or the pattern to unlock. Even then, it doesn't lag anywhere close to as much as any other phone (stock) I've ever owned (including HTC devices and iPhone's). Bring it back and tell them that your device is defective, and demand an exchange. That's what I did for my first 2 Black Note 4's that had issues.

I came from the HTC One M8. That phone was lightning fast, and very smooth. When I first got the N4, I felt the same as you and today still wonder wtf Samsung is doing with their code that makes their devices run so poorly compared to other top tier android phones. While I still notice lag and stutter on occasion, the device generally seems to have improved over my 4 weeks of using it. I use Nova launcher, Google keyboard, disabled unlock effect, disabled a bunch of apps and options I don't need or use and it generally feels faster and more smooth. I should mention that I don't think I've simply gotten use to the lag. I played with my M8 a bit before I sold it a week ago and the performance difference didn't seem as drastic. The only place I still notice poor or slow performance is in the messaging app, however since I turned off priority contacts, it seems to be more responsive.

Cool story Bro.
Problem with most people is they buy a device and they blindly defend it. I am completely non bias. I can afford to be. I'll just buy another device. If you're on the fence about buying a note 4 and reading this.... Don't. Not until further updates are released anyway.
I'll make a video to prove you muppets wrong. This **** lags. Fact. And no. This device is not faulty. Always very easy to pull the faulty card when someone challenges your precious device you've waited 2 years to upgrade to. Pathetic paupers.

No doubt the note lags. I've had evey high end phone this year and the note is one of the slowest. Faster than the S5. That's about it. None the less is probably my favorite phone this year. It has everything in one package. Awesome battery life, phenomenal screen and camera, excellent looks and build quality. After using the G3 , M8, and the turbo I do miss the speed, but all the other stuff makes it up for me.
Anyone who thinks the note doesn't lag is either delusional or hasn't used a non-Samsung device.
I have an m8 also. It's lightning compared to this **** and it's almost a year older? And with far less raw power. It's not acceptable. Well done for speaking up against the fan boys.
Please keep the conversation cordial. The name calling as minor as you all think it may be is disrespectful and not tolerated on XDA.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and whether you agree or disagree there's no reason to attack anyone's character.
Please take this as a friendly warning.

There have been several cases where users report lag and returned their phone as a defective device. Those users reported the 2nd phone as being lag free.
After the first update i experience no lag except for an occational messaging lag.
Maybe the reason you dont hear 98% of the people complain is because they dont have a problem. You're not the only one willing to open their mouth about such issue. These people are trying help you but you're insisting that your phone is some how the golden device that speaks for the rest. Things happen during manufacturing process, defective devices happen. We're a community come be respectful, contribute, enjoy your phone. The community doesnt work for anyone, so attacking it isn't going to do you any ounce of good. I hope you find the fix to YOUR problem. If that means switching phones so be it. For the rest of us we are happy with our phones and are experiencing minimal lag.
Why don't you try disabling some apps, Switching launchers and keyboards?

Back from days of Symbian, i have used many smartphones, recently i changed from iPhone 6s to S7, for a change, but touchwiz, or mess of uneven Android apps, lack of silky smoothness, and strange app designs, for example huge header of WhatsApp App, different font size in WhatsApp App's text entry box and bubbles text.
I was amazed reading this story by XDA, http://www.xda-developers.com/with-...delivers-embarrassing-real-world-performance/
wow i don't think like this alone, If i compare it iPhone 6s,
- this phone is not smooth, only Nexus is almost as smooth as iPhone
- even though its a mettle phone, but by looks its same as galaxy s3 bu looks, not by material,
- Its best in stutters, ugliness of software, among all Android Phones, with LG is close 2nd.
- display is good, but being an average user, i find it not different than the iPhone display in real world usage.
- better, battery is the only benefit i am getting from this phone
- with camera i only take pictures of samples and send them over WhatsApp, so both are same.
I feel Samsung must die or learn and make Android closer to stock, they are selling phones only due to marketing and good hardware. Even baby companies like OnePlus can implement Android better than Sammy.

I'd normally say it's just your own experience and opinion, but given the options you've presented, I'm going with crazy
I love my S7. It's the best phone I've ever had. Mine is butter-smooth, looks and feels awesome, gets an update every month and has an phenomenal camera. I can't agree with you about the screen either--it's worthy of all the praise that's been heaped on it.
Samsung sales and profits are up right now, and Apple's are down. Maybe it's Apple that needs to die and learn. I'm sure marketing is a factor, but in the end, Sammy is ticking all the right boxes for a lot of people.
I do agree with you about one thing though: I wish they'd ditch TW for something closer to AOSP Android.

Well its great, when you are satisfied with your Phone, if you say your touchwiz is buttery smooth, i feel you may have not used iPhone for a year or so, getting updates are fine, camera's of both phones are good for my limited use, me being not photo lover, screen, you can't go wrong with either. i can't see any advantage of this glorious screen over 720p of iPhone, as i never use VR.
i am not concern with Sales, by F**k**g users with touchwiz torture, they can't tick every box right, just my opinion, touchwiz torture alone, should give them Nokia Fate, my opinion. Not letting AOSP on this very good hardware is also very sad.
Even its my personal experience, i would want to stay away from Sammy for good, even couple of years ago i promised my self, i would never use non nexus Android, its just Google is too lazy to bring new Android,
Wish i could have S7 google play edition.
If I had to compare the S7 with the iPhone 6s, then the S7 would win for me.
Beautiful QHD display vs 720p and you say that the screen doesn't matters to you? The S7 has a bigger screen even tho they have almost the same size.
The iPhone doesn't has OIS "optical image stabilization", doesn't has microSD card slot, it's not water resistant and the basic 16GB version is more expensive than the S7 (at least here).
I think that the 6s is way overpriced for what it offers.
Also the new iPhone 7 will look exactly the same as 6 and 6s.
Ps my S7 is smooth.
I personally don't know what you're on about. I can't compare it to an iPhone, but I've had a Nexus 5 and a OnePlus One that I felt was a little faster. My S7 is just as smooth in the UI as either of those devices, and I used Nova launcher on all three. I can't make mine lag or stutter scrolling between screens, pulling down notifications, opening the app drawer, switching apps, etc.

You aren't crazy. I also came from 6S. I think it's all a personal preference and you would be better served with an iPhone. Simple.
For me personally, and while I partially agree with certain parts of the points you listed, overall an iPhone is like a kids toy compared to a robust pocket computer. So the trade off of slightly less polished OS on the S7 is well worth it. Just take Nova Launcher with gesture control and Tasker, just those two apps alone make Android about 1000x better because you literally can design your own way of interacting with your phone down to the smallest detail. But if that kind of stuff isn't for you, then I can see your point and like I said, iPhone just may be better. It's all a matter of perspective.

Thanks for reply bro,
- i never said screen don't matter to me, i can't stand cheap or inferior screen, like that of Xperia family, all i said what both screens are good and comparable in real life, specs of Sammy screen is higher, that is 2K, but by using both, i see no advantage of 2k Super Amoled screen over IPS 720p screen, in fact i find iPhone screen better due to more condense UI, you can have more text of WhatsApp in iPhone smaller screen then in larger screen of S7, You have thicker fonts on iPhone in twitter App and too thin fonts on Android App, obviously you can shrink or condense the UI, but according to me its not the same, like i mentioned WhatsApp text entry font size and bubble font size is different, is headache for me, no issue for you guys. These are fine touches which iPhone have and Android needs to avoid, though its App fault, Android App fault.
iPhone 6s don't have iOS, for a user like me its not required, i am keen on point and shot camera for work only, those who need iOS can us, 6s Plus, No SD card, people can get higher capacity, i only use 16 GB as i keep removing stuff always and never filled half the space mostly, Over prices, definitely, Sammy is over priced too, ask Oneplus, thats another thing, its price falls in no time bring massive loss to owner.
New iPhone will look exactly same, it must, it will mostly be smooth, hopefully, iPhone has its other flaws, like lack of sharing and transferring file, physical home buttom, which i dont like in sammy too.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to your needs i feel, for you S7 serves better, for someone, slick and smooth elegant UI of iPhone works better, even bigger size bezels of iPhone worked better for me, as i get accident touched on S7 when i try to use it with one hand, due to smaller bezels.

Thanks for sharing thoughts, I use Nova Prime, as soon as i get any galaxy, but tasker is not for me.
if a user need to root or use apps like tasker or greenify to make there phone work proper, then its not the phone for most you have to admit. To make phone work better, root, change rom, change codes, change this and change that .....
- Some people have business, others have jobs in life, kids and family, they get less time in life, to go forums and do all that, they need a phone, that mostly work and have less limitations, phone you are calling kids phone, all i need to do with that is just to stop the animations, and it becomes smoother, for those who cant alter there phones or who dont have time.
When i use to dislike iPhone, i use to feel you cant use bluetooth, you cant transfer mp3, you cant send a song over whatsapp now or cant receive it, then i found out sharing song over bluetooth is needed less, if needed can use dropbox share, can copy song over wifi or can easily share song vis whatsapp without jailbreak, iPhone found solutions, but Sammy is screwing me and the likes of me from galaxy S3!

I don't think you know or understand what Tasker does - it helps you automate string of commands or "tasks" that you would do anyway but it dose it automatically for you based on certain criteria like your location for example. It has nothing to do with tweaking your phone to run better or give you better battery life (unless you want that).
You buy the hardware with pre installed software.
You are responsable to customize the software to your needs!
You can modify almost everything. Also uglyness etc. goes away by that!
My Phone is really premium and with beautiful software, with all that modications.

Yes, tasker is not for everyone specially not for those, who were using iphones lately feel, dont have to use with iphone, sadly this super customize able phone has lost ability to change fonts without root, i want to use roboto fonts, or try iPhone fonts.
Only if iPhone was not over priced, iPhone could get more market or profit share then what it has currently, as many people cant use it due to price as well, in many countries like mine, we have to pay full price to buy phone, and i mostly sell current phone, add money and buy new.

I believe you bro, you basically mean if a user can modify his phone, then he can lay his hand on touchwiz, or he never used iPhone for long, or he dont care about smoothness, apps quality etc.
You sound confused, first you complain about whatsapp's font size, admitting it's the apps fault and then you blame Samsung saying that it should "die and learn".
Next you say that you refuse to use tasker or any other app to make the phone work "properly" and yet you use Dropbox for a simple file share, since Apple doesn't allow you to send files using Bluetooth.
And you find the iPhone's 720p screen better than Samsung's 2K? Its like me saying that my old Nokia 3210 is the best phone ever cause all I do with it is make phone calls and that way the battery lasts for weeks.

Well thanks for reply, but bro you dont read correct, i never said 720p is better than 2k screen, i said both do the job good, both are very good, if you hold both close to each other, both are very good, minor difference can be pitch black screen, according to my average eye.
I am not here to offend those who like S7 a lot, i was just sharing my experience, and i said for others it can be opposite, file sharing is an option, one can live without it, or can use dropbox or email or whatsapp to share a file, which everyone use no matter if he use, android or windows phone or iOS, tasker is a utility to make S7 work proper, dropbox is not a utility to make iOS work smoother, or make UI less of a mess.
Its not like saying anything about 3310, iPhone is a capable phone, dual core 1.4 cpu, 2gb ram, f**ks note 7 in every speed test you find on Youtube, thats another story and i am not interested in it.
i just have to stay with this phone for a while, i wish i can like it more, UI issues which i find little disappointing i can adjust with, i can somehow enjoy benefits that comes with it, like better battery, ability to use to Whatsapp, and few others, at cost of UI and smoothness. Since i dont intend to use phone again for 6 months at least.
Idea of this post is not to offend lovers of S7, i dont know why some folks cant take other peoples opinion about there love child, in fact opinion of XDA developers is same as mine, exactly same, if you can read the link i posted, only reason for the post was thoughts sharing and finding ways to improve the situations, which seems like impossible, even for XDA, even for them its the path of lenthy modifications and somehow magically fix the sh*t that sammy created in form of touchwiz.
XDA says reviewers always praise samsung phones, yet performance is always under par, even less then oneplus, and honour 8, which is bloated and a mid range phone.
To conclude this talk, and to end harsh feelings/heartaches, i would this is a very good hardware, only crippled by software in my case, as i am stock android or iPhone guy, i still remember i had nexus 5, i was so much satisfied, and mediocre screen of nexus 5 never bothered me much due to buttery smooth, elegant, non china UI.
You have to live with prons and cons of all phone, like we have to live with iPhone's as well.
I and many others like me should try to enjoy benefit of this phone and may be somehow we can like it, or when time comes switch it.
I cant root it to keep warranty, or replace roms.

I know that, but twitter App font is very thin, despite being at 560 now, but my main issue about inconsistent and less than elegant UI in comparison to nexus remains, is there any way i can change system fonts without root, i want ROboto all over the place.
usmanxhmed said:
Well, you are the one who is fanboy and confused and can't hear a word against your Love
I said iPhone screen is better, not in term of screen quality, but in term of UI, which is part of screen over all experience
- fanboys like you deserve to stay on china type touchwiz for life, keep buying Sammy and they will keep screwing you with China UI
- iPhone screen better because text is smaller but far thicker, i can see more text in a UI
- Twitter and WhatsApp shows more and clearer text in one screen even being smaller, which makes it easy to carry around, yet more contend
- Uniform applications, elegant and consistent layout.
So screen is a combination of over all UI, unlike you common man is not a screen pixels doctor to calculate 2k pixels and keep saying wow, its 2k not 720p, for a common man, both are almost same as far as screen quality goes.
You should not stay in this thread any ways, its not for small hearted fanboys, getting hurt about other negative opinion about there beloved phone.
In my opinion and official opinion of XDA, Sammy does not know how to make a software or even a skin, they take slick Stock Android and pretty much f**k it up from galaxy S1, still selling phones.
But if people like you are satisfied with it, then its fine, they must be doing it right now, other people can use nexus and iphones or even at times HTC if they can reduce screen to body ratio.

You have a point. As an ex-ios uset, and loads of android owner (including nexus 5, s6, s7 exynos) i find iOS better in terms of:
- general smoothness
- games load time
- way way better memory managent than android (with 2gigs of RAM it outperforms android with 4-6gig)
- better battery life per capacity (iphone 6s 1750 mah vs galaxy s6 3000 mah)
- in general ios operates at cooler temperature
I really wish android to step up in all above. I am keep using android because i don't like to be limited in apple ecosystem (anyway, ios evolved in good direction, making the OS more versatile and customizable)
Right now I am usint Good Lock which changes many elements of SystemUI. As a launcher i am using the official Google one, and it does occasionally stutter when scrolling between screens. Also I am using the condensed screen mode.
I've always been a huge fan of Android. I remember getting my first HTC Desire many years ago - the things you could do was unbelievable at that time.
Many years have passed and the technology has advanced greatly since then, however one thing that keeps bugging me is how Android still are performing - especially with third party developers like Samsung.
I've been using a iPhone 6s for some time and decided it was time to return to Android. I spent a lot of time researching which phone to chose, and to my surprise, everyone was prasing the s7 edge like it was the next big thing since the wheel.
So... I get one of them and the first thing I notice is how completely laggy the entire phone is. How can a phone with so crazy hardware have such a laggy interface - and how come no one has spoken about this in any reviews? Is it just normal Android behavior - or do you get blind to this when using it for years? I don't get it - and I really regret buying this phone because of this.
Scrolling stutters, typing to fast in chrome while it is loading makes the keyboard freeze for a moment and I don't enjoy the experience. I turned in my nexus 5 and even though it was way more fluent than the s7 in the interface, it has the same underlying stutter/lagg problems but on a way lesser scale.
Usually I'm really pro android - but anyone saying this **** is fluid and fast are lying to themselves or in denial. Try using an iPhone for once - I know it's like comparing Apple and oranges - but it's without a doubt a way better experience, the touch feels like it's moving at the same speed as the finger and best of all. I think we need some kind of nanotechnology to get even close to that experience on Android
Why are you flashing custom roms on xda if it wasn't for the hope of getting a super-fast rom with great battery and no lagg? And am I overreacting? Why aren't everyday Android users bugged by this?
Hmm actually the S7 edge is the first Android phone where I really won't bother to flash anything just to make it faster. I have absolutely no problems with fluidness...
Are you using the SD or Exynos one?

With 2k resolution and many bloatware of U.S network. You can see slow because android no long animation and no wait loaded and touch like ios, fhd resolution of ios. With android 7 and FHD, s7 edge will very smooth.
You got a duff one by the sounds of it. You answer your own question really, nobody in reviews etc. is talking about your issues because, they are your issues.
Have the Exnyos model here on the EE network and I don't get any of the issues regarding speed and fluidity etc.

Meh I feel with the power the S7 Edge has you would expect much higher fluidity in this day and age of phone technology. My old iPhone 4s was smooth as butter. In comparison Samsung has always felt like butter but with crumbs in it. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my S7 Edge but it could be better...

As a s7 edge owner, I have no idea what are you talking about.
my s7 edge is 4 months old and working great
never rooted/ flashed another version
never downloaded cleanmaster apk, taskmanager ect.. never used it
my phone has been working great 4 months so far. Interface is smooth....
everything is smooth
you right- no need to root and mess up with your phone in order to make it work
Take your phone back to the store . try a factory reset under settings maybe it will help.
plus remember android 7 / 7.1.1 will be coming this month. As i checked on youtube and changeloge, there are tons of new features.
the update may solve the problem as well but i would not wait for that
good luck!
Clean master îs a wonderful app.
S7 Edge Smart Manager is powered by clean master so no need to blame this app.
tried many diffrent roms for the samsung s7 (flat) currently on Nougat 7 beta
All Roms i've tried are smooth and i never experienced lag or stutter on any of them.
I think you have bad software or broken phone.
Try a factory reset, or return to the Samsung store and explain the issue.
Post and run, not sure if this is a wind-up
Funny thing is I had the iPhone 7+ before coming back to Sammy, and I find this phone more stable than the iPhone. iOS10 was a big disappointment and I had a lot of hiccups on the iPhone 7+.
Can't wait to see what the S8 looks like too!
I have an ipad air 2 it's slowly to if you install to many apps. My problem with Samsung I can't delete debloat all the crapp what come with the phone without root. And most things are useless in my eyes. I switched from i9300 slimrom and than cm roms . The firmware should be small and fast. My slomrom was 200mbyte now I have to download 1.5gbyte . I don't want know comes in 10years properly 10gigabyte firmwares.
I have had my S7 since release day and i am a heavy user of my phone with way too many apps installed (120+) and yet i have no lag at all. I can type as fast as i want, scrolling your long post had no stutter or lag, and thats with a ton of background apps and a pop up video running! All i will say is my phone is a little warm. I am no fan of Apple so i cant compare but my nephew has switched from being an Apple user his whole life to the S7 and he is happy. There are missing features yes but performance wise he says he cant tell any difference so i take him on his word about that. I would consider if a) you have a dud or b) you have a fake. Either way, get it checked out because like the others say, you cant be right and everyone else be wrong!
sessingo is not wrong.... I've used since two month an Asus Zenfone 3 ZE552KL and, despite the device is loaded full of bloatware, the user experience is far better than with my S7 Edge. So, for me, the user experience on Android can be very good (my Asus for example) with no stutter, no lags, very snappy, even if the hardware is mid-range. It's like night and day between the two devices !!!
Sure the feeling on an Iphone is great, compared to the S7 and Edge. And I'm a big fan of Android and Samsung since the Galaxy S2...

I've very recently changed from my old iPhone 6 Plus to the S7 Edge and I know exactly what you mean. The 6 Plus was my first iPhone having had many Android devices prior to that. Although the S7 Edge is lightning quick, and opening and closing apps etc is super-fast, it has a 'twitch' to it, particularly when scrolling. Also, exactly as you describe, when moving your thumb slowly up and down you feel out-of-sync with the screen. I noticed it immediately, and then even got out my old iPhone to compare just in case I was imagining it. I wasn't. They behave very differently. Its amazing what you get used to. It doesn't feel as polished an experience I'm afraid.
There's lots of comments asking 'how can your phone be laggy? Mine's super-fast' - well I think there's a misunderstanding about what we're describing. For me, it's not that the phone isn't fast, it is. Very. It's about how it feels to interact with. It just feels 'twitchy' and not totally in sync with my gestures. I do get the odd weird freeze on many apps. I wouldn't call it lag but just a short millisecond pause that you're not expecting that throws what you're doing out of kilter. It's nothing to do with power. Just the architecture I think. We probably wouldn't notice these things if we hadn't switched from one platform to the other. I'm don't really want to get into the 'which is best' nonsense. I do slightly regret changing but the Apple handsets were boring, physically - design wise - and the S7 Edge is a beautiful looking phone. I'd underetimated how much I'd miss certain things though.
Wanted to buy a S8 in the next couple of weeks, but I've see videos on Youtube showcasing S8 is poor at ram management while comparing to G6, do you guys believe these issues can be fixed by software update? Or is it a hardware problem?
I wouldnt like to use a flagship who cant keep Youtube chrome frequently in background after just opening a few apps.
Ram management is software, but I think its no issue. About 10-12 apps are sufficient for me.

I'm using an s8 with snap dragon on tmobile network. I own a iPhone 7 and galaxy s7 as well. I repeatedly attempted to use my s7 just to find myself going back to my iPhone almost immediately over the last 6 months. I love the android architecture. If you've used vanilla, you know how smooth it can be. The s7 could not hang with the iPhone in the slightest, however. The iPhone is just smooth. Nothing ever lags. All that being said, when I got the s8, I experienced similar lag, though not as extreme. Now, after the last update, using package disabler to freeze all the nasty Samsung garbage and other bloat, I've had absolutely zero lag. It's almost as smooth as vanilla android, which is a bold statement for TouchWiz. Samsung software is just lousy. Always has been. This is the closest they've come to getting it right, however. I'm loving this phone, and I haven't had any ram management issues. But that's my experience.

Considering you can buy the phone and try it out for 14 days, why don't you just do that and try it for yourself based on the apps you use on your phone. Videos can be 1 sided really and it is all based on your experience. If you open 8 to 10 apps on a regular basis, you will be fine with no issues. if you open 20 to 30, you will have some that will close and have to reload. It will all depend on your experience and how you use your phone and whether you can handle how this phone does its thing. The phone is an awesome phone and have a lot of positives but it is not a phone for everyone.

Well there isn't such service in HK, thats why responses in here is what I looking for, I just dont want to be disappointed because I am a long time Galaxy fan, only skipped the S7 and now having huge expectation for this phone
I'm using a Exynos S8+ and am amazed at how many apps it can keep alive compared to my past Samsung phones. And that includes the Note7. I'm a productivity user though so can't speak to games.
This is one of the most unbelieveably slow tablets I have ever experienced. It is VERY interesting that there is such a high percentage of people on this forum who claim their tablet doesn't show any signs of slow down and is very snappy, no lag at all, and gaming performance is top notch. I am here to tell you that these people either work for Samsung or literally have something wrong with the connection between their eyeballs and brains.
Now before I get into the details I would like to say that not all is lost for this tablet and it may someday be the best thing money can buy. Let me explain.... I noticed something very similar when using this tablet. I couldn't put my finger on it right away and then it hit me. This thing feels just like that terribly sluggish s7 edge I used to have. HMMM what do those two have in common you say??? Same SOC, same manufacturer, same-ish software. This thing CHUGS! and I don't want to hear anyone try to refute it. It is unbearable. Just exactly like the s7 edge.
I figured I might be able to clean up the performance on this thing with a custom kernel, just as they have done over on the s7 forums. I was wrong. I rooted and installed a kernel that would allow me to set the governor to performance to see if it helped. It did, but not enough. And performance smokes your battery in no time anyway so isn't a real solution. Samsung has literally destroyed this chip with their DVFS junk just as they have done in the past. I can't belive this was allowed to be released like this AND at this price.
Now for the good part. The s8 was pretty slugglish at release as well (not quite like the s7), but was recently updated to Oreo and it FLIES, just like the Note 8 does. It seems Samsung has finally started taking performance seriously and has figured out how to make their phones have great performance without sacrificing battery life. The tab s3 is slated for the Oreo update in 2018, so we will see what it does to the performance.
Since Google completely messed up their last tablet (the Pixel C's wifi is worse than a 5 year old Nexus 4) and left the market, samsung is the only player left in the so-called highend Android tablet space so here we are with a SD820 from early 2016 instead of a SD835 and broken wifi power-saving since launch. I fully expect Samsung to continue this crap with the Tab S4: copy the 10.5 screen size from the new ipad pro so it looks good on paper but then use the SD835 from 2017 instead of the SD845 which will have been shipping for 6 months by the time they launch the S4 in mid 2018. Hopefully we get a fully working device this time and not something like the Tab S3 and it's totally borked wifi sleep. But hey, could be worse, a fast wifi chip that doesn't sleep and causes power drain is arguably much much better than the slow as molasses crap Google put in the Pixel C (google Pixel C wifi or head over to Anandtech for a deep analysis).
Gone are the good days of the Tab S2 and Nexus 9, both good devices with small shortcomings.

Oh the irony!
So I bought 5 tablets this week: Tab s2, Tab s3, Shield Tablet, Nexus 9, and Pixel C. I thoroughly tested all 5 and came to the conclusion that I am keeping the Pixel. And now you hit me with this! lol
So I ran to the tablet with my Note 8 in hand and started doing side by side speed tests and range tests. I found that the Pixel is getting up to 3 times faster download speeds, about the same uploads, and the range seems consistent between the two. Hmmm. I already have the Pixel on Oreo so maybe that has something to do with it?
Not sure, but even if the wifi performance is slow or range bad, it is much better than the other 4 in my opinion. I made a post over on the Pixel C forum to inquire and will try to get to the bottom of it.
I needed a tablet that would game well, multi task, and word process fairly easily. The s2 was my favorite of the bunch but just didn't have the horsepower I was looking for, you know how I feel about the s3 already lol (it would be my fav by far without the lag), the shield has a crap touchscreen, and the good ole Nexus 9 actually does very well for it's age once you get the stock software flashed off. The Pixel C was winner by default, not by choice. I hope 8.0 fixes the Tab s3 so I can buy one 2018. I really didn't want to go above 9 inch due to portability, but there just isn't anything out there and I was forced to look at the bigger ones.
What's most aggravating about the Pixel C situation was that Google employed their forum mods and drones for months on end to drown out folks like myself who were complaining about the wifi situation until anandtech confirmed what we had known all along:
https://www.anandtech.com/show/9996/revisiting-the-google-pixel-c/4
With samsung, they have kind of acknowledged the wifi power drain exists on their official forums, they are just indifferent to it.
I have had no issue's with my Tab S3 SM T825 I do have to wait on it on occasion hey it's SD 820 but it's only about a second or two so not an issue.
This is from from am Android developer so
And rooting it pretty much renders Netflix useless and I want HDR so won't go into magisk and all that crap just a clean plain Samsung tablet with developer mode on
My OnePlus 5 is more than enough for root stuff
Plus you can always sideload apps so I don't know what you're ranting about and you don't even mention specifically where you found to slow
Gaming is good only game that didn't detect Adreno 530 was Telltale Batman. Video binge watching lasts me 8 hours from 100 percentage at 67 percentage brightness.
What else do you want from this tablet word office s pen
What the heck you trying to do? MOVE A MOUNTAIN?

It's all in the software man don't worry. Oreo will turn the tablet into lightning just like the note 8. Go look at the oneplus 3, same 820 chipset and it flies and never slows down. Samsung destroyed all the 820 devices with bad software. It will be fixed sometime this year.
It still amazes me that there are people on this site that will argue with you until the end of time that this device doesn't lag lol I can't relate to these people at all.

Haha I've given up hope on this thing.
It's basically just a Netflix display and PDF reader for me.
Multitasking just kills it, and I'm sure the skeleton Dev team Samsung has put on this device will not be able to implement Oreo properly either.

I've had a Tab S3 for a year now, and am absolutely delighted with it.
Previously a Tab S, that was getting long in the tooth. Prior to that Nexus 7 and the updated version.
The Tab S is as fast as I could wish for, and great battery life.
I object to your characterisation of people who like it. I expected better from a Senior Member of this forum.
I bought my S3 off Amazon and it was pretty sluggish but flashing another region's firmware on it made it fly, been really happy with its battery life and performance over the last six months or so.
Having said that I really don't think high end android tablets are worth it so this is probably my last for a while yet, the cost is too high for the marginal improvement in functionality over a high end smartphone. I knew HDR was a gimmick going in but I was hoping that I'd be able to replace a laptop with the S3 but it just can't quite hang when it comes to any sort of real work load.
Look at my posts
HDR is no gimmick. There is no such possibility. It's like the js7200 which has HDR but they haven't shown it. But tab has better brightness.
And for all here saying tab lags it just doesn't it's the best flagship tablet to get besides the ipad but oled mean my eyes don't redden anymore or strain at all.
So it's not like a phone flagship ok. But most of your PC's would do a worser job on word than this! Also pixel c just don't match.
Chrome does drain battery I read twd comics entire and every single time it drained 1 percentage for 5 to 10 mins each. Samsung internet had zero to minimal drain considering and in stark comparison. Don't blame the tablet blame google.
Everything is smooth sometimes rarely it acts weird like it's dead but then it's ok like it's got the Hangover once or twice every month for a few minutes.
Stop the hate, this is the only tab that you can love if you can't use ipad or want OLED. I mean it's better than the TV. Now my TV is just the playstation monitor.

Maybe you get tab S4 :cyclops:
It is a great tablet, but it has its faults, a limited battery, limited software to take advantage of the Spen, the lack of mechanism to hold the Spen is another serious error, to mention some opportunities.
It's not hate, it's the feeling that it could have been an unparalleled tablet that finally feels like a tab 2.5 and not a real tab s3, and Android does not help much to take advantage of our tab.
Definitely I have enjoyed my tab S2 more than my tab s3, the deficiencies are there and it is something that Samsung will have to improve in the future tab s4. And any laptop with the same retail price its seriously better for daily work over our tab.
In conclusion, great tablet that could have been something that did not finish to achieve.
