I am not a programmer and have little knowledge about flashing the ROM so to make sure I understand what I need to do and the order it needs to be done.
My Nexus 10 works great still, I have not had a security update for 2 some years and am concerned about this. Last October I tried to upgrade to 6.0 but it would not recognize the new rom and I ended up going back to the original 5.1 rom.
What I need to know is how to do it in a way I can understand. I have seen a utube video of someone that has been able to do it. So I know it can be done. Just need to know how.
Thanks,
Mike B.
Assuming you have a PC use this tool to unlock then root and install a custom recovery
Next download a Nougat rom like Lineage
Also download gapps and SuperSU
Copy the rom, gapps, and supersu into a folder on your tablet
Now reboot the tablet into recovery and do a full wipe then from recovery
Flash the rom
Flash gapps
Flash SuperSu
Reboot to system and give it a few minutes on the first boot
Hey I am new to OnePlus 5 and currently on Official Open Beta 5 based on Oreo, encrypted by default, unlocked bootloader but not rooted.
I want to install custom rom based on Nougat, specifically xXx 4.8 rom 4.5.15 based on Nougat.
Can somebody please guide me step by step, how can I proceed, which recovery shall I use? And etc etc.
My firmware is updated to Oreo so how can I revert? if that matters and needed.
Shall I need to downgrade to nougat before proceeding?
Thanks & Cheers,

I can't do step by step but since nobody else has answered I will try to point you in the right direction . There are step by step flashing guides on XDA.
You want to install the latest version of Codeworks TWRP. After you install TWRP you will need to format the data on your phone because you are encrypted and moving from Oreo to Nougat. You can do this in the wipe data tab in TWRP but remember you need to format your data, not wipe. This will erase everything on your phone except TWRP. If you connect your phone to a computer it will be recognized like a memory stick and you can just copy and paste your ROM zip onto your phone. Then you can flash your ROM zip with TWRP.

First backup your data after backup flashing last version

use this. no need to wait.
Bootloop?
My phone doesn‘t boot anymore. It is trying to but after a while seeing the bootanimation it restarts into twrp... I didn‘t backup my system. Is everything away now? Also tried installing the disable zip. Problem still there. I think I need to install the rom again with MiFlash
just use MsmDownloadTool V4.0.exe to recovery my op5 to oos, but the version is quite low as Android 7.1.1.
checked the system update, it told me up to date. which is of course not true.
tried to clean the cache of google framework service and oneplus framework service, still nothing in updating.
tried installed oxygen updater, and download 3 update zip from 7.1.4, 8, last version of 8, but each time I use local install in system uploading, then reboot to recovery, it shows me "failed". none of version works.
I even tried to install in recovery, wipe cache and data or just wipe data, then install from internal disk, none of the file works, even don't have any popup fail notice, just go back to file chooser interface.
I can still go back to system by switch off and on again.
How can I upgrade the old version of android in my oneplus 5?
original:
used use lineages os with Twrp, and I would like to flash to original oxygen.
download full rom zip in https://www.oneplus.com/uk/support/softwareupgrade/details?code=PM1574156143164
copied to phone disk
went to twrp
wipe Dalvik, System, Data, and Cache
then tried to install the full rom zip, but met "no Digest File found" error
found it must be twrp old, so I download new one in https://dl.twrp.me/cheeseburger_dumpling/twrp-3.4.0-0-cheeseburger_dumpling.img.html
copy to phone and flash it to recovery.
select "reboot to recovery"
then problem coming: I can only see the oneplus logo with powered by Android. it won't go any further.
I am not sure any thing wrong during my processing, but maybe 2 things:
1, I wiped the system
2, I didn't clean the screen lock pin before I flash
so, my question here is, if possible I can flash the original oxygen os in this situation?
if positive, could you please give me a step by step instruction?
by the way, the zip rom I download from oneplus site isn't have the "flash-all" script.
please please help me .

Please help. I bought a phone with Beta installed. I wanted to switch to the original system. So I screwed up something so using the MsmDownloadTool tool I wanted to use it by uploading everything from scratch. I fell into the Chinese H2Os system. I searched again and I already have the original ColorOS based on Android 9. But I can't update it to 10. What do I have to do? Oh .... the bootloader is unlocked ...

if you are directly flash to coloros android 9 from lower version other than android 8, it might be the problem you won't got the update in the system. It might be have issue in wifi or gps as well, which I bet you didn't well test yet.
that's all about the system partitions messed up. regarding my understanding.
solution is simple, but time consuming:
you have to flash an original rom using msmdownloadtool, make sure that rom will have update notification in the system menu of settings. then upgrade from there one level up each time, till to the android 10. (chinese version do have 10 available)
than, you can download oxygen os android 10 to flash on the coloros android 10 (hydrogen os android 10) you just done the upgrade, don't forget wipe data/cache before flashing.
hope that's helps.

Kindly tell me in steps you follow m stuck in 4.5.8 version with download links
After reading so many guides and going through ROM threads, I've been left confused on how to flash my 6T with different ROMs and the best way of doing it without bricking the device.
Currently I am on rooted OOS 10.3.4 running Cleanslate Kernel. (TWRP 3.4.0)
So can anybody help me with these questions for which I am UNABLE to find any answers.?
1. What Fastboot Rom should I flash on my device if I cant find 10.3.4 fastboot. Can I flash 10.3.3 and proceed? Also, can I flash fastboot roms via TWRP without the need of turning on my PC.
2. A lot of people are suggesting downgrading TWRP to 3.3.x. How do I downgrade it? By merely running the .img file in the fastboot mode and flashing the zip?
3. Does TWRP 3.3.x have that AB partition thing where we have to flash everything TWICE to get the roms on both the slots? Or just a single swipe to install would do?
1. Use the SourceForge Link on the Fastboot Thread, even 10.3.5 is there. If you want though you can use 10.3.3
2. Just run the 3.3.1-32 installer from 3.4.x. I removed 3.4.x from my LOS Guide as it caused so many problems. The installer for -32 works properly and will still install in both slots. No need to do the install "ramdisk method."
3. No matter which version you choose your phone will still have a A/B partitions. You can't (well shouldn't) have OOS and an AOSP rom on each. Both partitions need to have the same type of ROM. It can cause weird problems if they are different. This is why on the initial install you flash the ROM twice. When you update your ROM, you only flash it once.
My Installing Lineage Guide works for many other custom ROMs, you might look through it. There is also a Cliff Notes version in Post 2 if you want something a bit shorter.
