Preparing for RMA - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am about to send my phone in for repair with Huawei to fix the usb-c port that is no longer rapid charging. I am on a custom Rom with bootloader unlocked.
Do I just need to return to stock prior to sending in the phone or is there anything else I need to do?

It probably isn't a problem, but I'd return to stock anyway. By the way, did you have to do anything special to get that RMA going? I'm dealing with Google support on my 6p and it is not going well.

Have you tried either reverting to stock or flashing a different ROM for the fast charging issue?

N-910C Camera Failed - Even HW replacement doesnt solve!

Hi All,
Im posting this thread after review all others.
I have the phone for almost an year and everything was working fine.
Suddenly the Camera stopped working.
The problem is only in the rear camera. Front camera is working.
Wipe data / Factory reset from setting or Pwr+Home+Vol up doesnt help.
Also i even went to a phone shop and tried to replace the camera. After 3 different cameras the tech told me he dont know what to do and think need motherboard replacement. Another thing is the flash that i tought might stopped working but it is still functioning properly.
Need your wise help guys! Appriciate every comment or suggestion!
Thanks,
Eyal.
Have you tried reflashing the stock ROM back onto your device? There is a chance that the drivers for your main camera maybe corrupted or have been deleted. If that doesn't work then you are going to need a replacement motherboard.

Thank you for taking time looking amd replying.Thats an intresting option. I didnt tried that.
However i also didnt found a root method for the N-910C. I would need to replace the kernel with a different one and i cannot find a suitable Kernel.
Let me explore this option and lets see.
If you have any direction on the rooting part it would be great.
Thanks,
Eyal.
Ummm, if you have no experience in rooting your device I would strongly recommend you avoid doing that as you can easily brick your device. I'd highly recommend you reflashing the stock ROM back onto your device to see if that will fix your problem. Otherwise you will need to replace the motherboard.

Thanks man, ive rooted many devices i had in the past, the New ones dont need that as everything is quite good out of the box.
the problem is to find a kernel matching the 'C' version. all the rest is easy.
let me look into it.

Its a N-910C it still has warranty for a few months as each samsung phone comes with 24months. How could the Samsung Tech not replace or fix the camera under warranty?
Also why did they try 3 different types, you would have though after the first they would stop if they matched up the model number of the parts etc before even opening the phone.

You would be better off just reflashing the stock ROM back onto your device rather than go hunting for the individual kernel. As the original firmware file probably has that within it.

From what I understand you should be able to reflash the stock Samsung ROM back onto your device. This will remove the root functions and restore your device back to when it left the factory.

No, you shouldn't have to root your device in order to reflash the stock ROM back onto it. Just download the stock ROM from Sammobile and use Odin to flash it back onto your device. It's as simple as that. But you will loose the root features after you do this.

Hi Guys,
Thank you for your responses, i have tried with Odin and downloaded the correct firmware from Sammobile (by verifying *#1234#) and after Odin pass successfully the device was not able to boot from the new firmware. so it rebooted again and returned to the former status (with all the apps and everything i currently still have ) means in other words Odin failed or i did something wrong.
i will keep trying. and update you.
Thanks,

What did it fail on? If it was sboot.bon that's the bootloader and you need to get the same version that was previously on your phone (Didn't read the post above. Try below, that will probably work).

Fingerprint Not Responding

I updated my SmG935a to the latest firmware (pl2) via Odin, and when my phone booted up, I got a message saying that my "fingerprint scanner is not responding try again later" I've tried everything. Hopefully someone knows what is happening I really want that feature back. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
To elaborate more, I am fully stock and on a clean factory reset state. If I need to get my phone replaced, does anybody know if I would get a new or refurbished one? I really don't want to give up my new phone for some refurbished one because the software broke

If you are fully stock, unrooted. Clean flash. And the problem still persists. You could try a custom rom. See if the problem is still there. If it is. Go back to stock unrooted and claim your warranty.

Would my warranty replace my phone with a brand new one? What custom roms would you suggest? I know that there is very little development for the AT&T version and I would get cyanogen but I don't believe it's exists for my phone yet. Anything helps! THANKS!!!

Your bootloader is locked. So that would mean you can't get a custom rom. You could however go back to a previous version of stock firmware. Install that one. And see upon setup if the fingerprint my works when setting up the lock screen. If it doesn't respond it's probably a hardware fault.
Would you get a new or refurbished one. Don't know. Call Sammy and ask

If Knox has not been tripped. So of it says 0x0 instead of 0x1. And you are in your warranty period. Then you should do a clean install. Totally clean. Just to be sure. Remove the SD card. And try again. If it still says failed. Then I should contact the retail store where you got it. If device says faulty finger print sensor I would get it fixed. u bought a expensive phone. It should work. An error is en error for a reason.

No harm,no foul,we've all done similar on at least one occasion.
You're a good man for offering to help ! :good:
Any help with that?
I am also awaiting an answer.
My last 2 Samsung phones had issues and I needed to Odin back to stock for warranty exchange at T-Mobile.
So I'm holding off on rooting till we have something of the sort for the v20.
Using Odin to flash my s7e back to stock while having severe screen issues saved my butt.
I'm on JoD for reference, and needed to switch phones at a brick and mortar.
Side note : loving the blooming development for this device.
Thanks for that, all parties concerned.

Does this unroot method work for the sprint variant? I am stock unrooted on the build the phone came out of the box with, and waiting until rooting isn't a one-way street to take the plunge. If it does, are you 100% certain that it had been used in sprint v20s successfully?
That thread specifically says H918. So no.

You are in the exact same position as me. I'm excited that we have an unlocked bootloader and root for the Sprint variant, but I have no desire to do anything until there's an established procedure to unroot and revert back to stock.

Here's hoping it's taken care of. Sprint didn't used to be such a **** when it came to bootloaders. Anyways, I appreciate all the hard work the devs have been doing. Can't wait until I get the chance to experience it. With a stable 200mhz overclock, there's no functional difference between the snapdragon 820 and the snapdragon 821.
Do any of the posted methods work to restore the VS995 variant to stock?
I really want to go ahead and root it (and yes, have disabled updates so still run 12A since I knew VZW was going to be evil and patch it) but I'm very hesitant to do so without a way to restore to stock. Is it one of those things that's just a matter of time, or is there a substantial likelihood it may never be possible?

A2017U Battery Percentage Problem

Hi everyone. I'm using Axon7 US version and I've problem about battery percentage. for example battery is on %20, I plug my phone to charging. it increases %10-15 after 30 minutes later. I reboot my phone and charge increases to around %70.
it's same on stock and cm13. do you have same problem?

Hi guys,
Did anybody solve this issue? the same in my Axon 7
You can't expect a lot of support when complaining about an issue without providing more details such as rom version or the charger and cable used to charge it. We can assume you are in stock rom using stock charger and cable. Try a factory reset. This would also reset the battery calibration values and you will see whether it is a hardware or software problem. In case of a hardware problem it is covered by the 2 year warranty. By the way, I do not have any problem.

Hi. First of all, thanks for your reply.
But i think you didn't read my post. I said it is same on stock and CM13. So i mentioned details. Just didn't mention ROM version. All accessories are original. I would say if they are not.
Whatever. I did factory reset and battery calibration. These methods didn't solved my problems.
Maybe problem is about my charger or cable. I couldn't try another one because i don't have.

My advice then is to use the warranty. However I'd do a final attempt while restoring internals to factory default.
Try to flash the B20 stock ROM and update up to B29. This will restore not just the ROM, but also the firmware of some internal peripherals. You can find the kit with the files inside the TWRP official thread. Just install it.

Rooting your phone and unlocking your bootloader is one thing.
When you try flashing the wrong ROM and brick your phone, it's a completely different story and no company in the world will give you warranty in that case
Just don't overclock your CPU and always keep the Stock ROM ready on your computer. And make a full nandroid backup using TWRP, before you flash any ROM, update or ZIP using the recovery
As long you get the right exact files for your model, verify the integrity before flashing, the chance to hard-brick is almost zero :fingers-crossed: Additionally, fully charge the battery before flashing anything. So you have enough time for rescue attempts, In case you turn into a heavy bootloop and cannot charge the phone
I hope that mine arrives soon, cant await to check out my new phone with Resurrection Remix
Damn that they cannot produce in enough quantities because the high demand I suggest to first use the phone for a week, check if every component is fine.
And also, If done right, you can re-flash and re-lock the bootloader, like when the camera isn't working and you want to return the phone for warranty process

huawai is also chinese company, the only difference is that they have retail business expanded to other countries where there usually cooperate with retailers and have some sort of service station. basically your contact is always where you buy your device, and they will handle it for you. i recently got my redmi and it's a pretty awesome device for the money it costs. quality wise it's on par to other devices. while you pay alot of money for a chinese brand phone... i am not to sure if it's worth it. it's like they are produced next to xiaomi production site anyhow...
i mean they have quality control and stuff so getting a faulty device is pretty slim, other than that if you crack your screen service doesn't really help alot as well because they charge too much money, other than that redmi note 4 is pretty easy to repair so if there is something going on you are free to try it yourself.

I think you should buy this phone because it is worth every penny. Other than Miui (that you can change) everything is perfect imo.
Then I guess only logical upper version to think about would be LG G5 SE .. Huawei is not an option anymore while its camera also not that quality also i guess
So 180 euro or 320 euro
Thanks for answers
