Do you guys know if the official OxygenOS have support for addon.d?
The new magisk update added support for it so it should be able to survive an update without reflashing..
I tryed searching around but could not find anything..
Tested this myself, no it doesn't. They don't support rooting / modding as a company policy so don't expect this to changed in the future.

Hi there,
is Android 7.0 or 7.1. already out via OTA for XT1622?
I didn't found an official image to download, only custom roms based on Nougat.
I'm on a custom ROM and I want to switch back to stock with root, because no custom ROM satisfies me at this moment.
When I tried to delete apps from Stock Marshmallow, it caused a boot loop even if I didn't touch any system relevant apps.
Thanks for all serious answers.

Short answer: OTA updates are not released according to the moderators and admins on Motorola's official forums.
<Short, slightly OT rant>
The ZIP file you may find on XDA (as well as several other places online) is apparently an unauthorized leak from the soak test Moto was conducting. It's caused a major headache for the unfortunate people maintaining those forums, going by the explosion of N-related queries and the resultant chaos.
That said, the update runs like a dream and it's quite likely that it will be the final version.
</rant>
My advice? Wait till the OTA arrives for stock users (should be sometime within this year if Moto's blog is to be believed) and then restore to stock and root.

Excellent advice. Just bought mine and was looking into this.
Hey guys,
I'm just looking for someone to point me in the right direction. Basically, my school has this web portal logon thing called Cloudpath (formerly xpressconnect) that requires you to log on to the portal's network in order to follow the instructions in your web browser for your specific OS. The problem arises with Android. It requires you to download an app, which does all the nitty gritty certificate installation and configuration for you. However, whenever I try this on a CUSTOM ROM (LOS-based and DU), I end up in a connecting loop. I never get connected to the secured network even though the certs appear to be installed correctly. I've tried using the app and doing it manually by downloading the certs myself. This only occurs on custom nougat roms, but works on stock MM (I haven't tried MM roms, because I want nougat).
As far as I know this problem only affects this phone after I install the rom and OpenGapps. Some of my peers have LOS and have gotten it to work, so I'm the only one, and the tech staff have no idea what to do. I don't have the log file on me, but if you need it, I can post it (they're pretty long, but seem to be detailed up until the connection part which just flops between CONNECTED and DISCONNECTED).
Is this a problem with the modem or the roms themselves? I was going to wait until the nougat kernel blobs got integrated to LOS, before trying again as I don't want to use the experimental build because it's a month old now. This problem has been around since at least January of this year. If there is a non-los based nougat rom, I would be glad to try that too. otherwise, I'm at a loss and I need some direction.
Any help is appreciated!
Seeings as how all of our Nougat ROMs are a mixed bag of partial MM and part Nougat still, and all custom ROM's for the MXPE use LoS's device tree, I am thinking this is a ROM issue, probably with some binary blob we don't have yet. The kernel source just released a few weeks ago, give it time and custom ROM's will get better (we think), and if the MXPE ever gets official Nougat, we will probably have better binary blobs too.
If it works on stock Marshmallow, it obviously isn't a radio thing, because your Nougat ROM's use the same radio firmware.
I don't have much else to say, but I would try a custom Marshmallow ROM and see if it works... if it fails as well, the problem is something in the LoS core device tree and it will need some developer's special attention (good luck with that, since we are considered to have a stable device tree it takes some work to get it changed), but if it works, chances are good that once custom Nougat ROMs get updated more it will likely work.
In a last ditch effort. I tried flashing the experimental build after posting this article, and it actually works! Now, this isn't the ideal situation given that there are some bugs (that I haven't run into yet) and that this build is a month old now. But for now, I'm satisfied. I just hope these blobs get integrated to official LOS soon.
Progress on that is here: https://review.lineageos.org/#/q/project:LineageOS/android_device_motorola_clark
If there are any roms out there that are considered stable and have these implemented now, I would appreciate it, otherwise, I think I'll be set for a little while. Thanks for your help!
Hi all, I wait like all of you the Oreo update, but with this, a little new question brings up in my mind... So, the root?
Yeah, I don't know how it works properly but in previous cases on other devices (always Sony and not) when I update the android version, the root disappear. Or am I wrong?
Btw the real problem is, in positive case, WHO will do it?
Because the developer who create it, like the recovery, for 7.0 (Janjan) has close the project... At this point it is right to update a rooted system and lost root?
Talk about.
Janjan hasn't closed it. He stated in his thread that he plans on releasing updates for Oreo
So always root and recovery? Or directly a rom?
He stated wait for Oreo, then he will get out recovery, and kernel. Then all u have to do is flash SuperSU or magistik. No custom roms from him as he doesn't have phone anymore.
Perfect! Rightly I think he need it too :highfive:
Thank you man!
Could someone create and provide SECURITY PATCHES for OREO and for LG G6 ?
Please, if you don't know what you are talking about, don't answer this message !
(i.e. answers such as update to PIE (android 9 by LG) or even to android 10 as "LeCorbusier" says.
As every ADULT knows, after 2-3 years a top-notch phone such as LG G6 is not dead !
Mine, at least, in 2020 works very well with OREO, and my only problem is getting security patches for OREO (android 8) and STOP updates for PIE !
I don't need PIE OS (Android 9 by LG), and its so-called improvements !
All I need is "security patches for OREO (android 8) and apps patches for CAMERA and other things similar.
Therefore, I suggest DEVS to think about what they are truly doing : MANTAIN a system of consumerism that is void (such as brands), or help people not throw away phones that still work perfectly well !
Please, help me and help millions of people not over consuming Phones !
1. Oreo is outdated and no one is willing to spend so much time to develop security patches for Oreo. Because it's hard to integrate with LGE framework. You could try to use custom rom with newer security patch
2. Or try find developer and pay him. For a custom rom
For whatever the reason my poco m3 global is not getting the latest updates though the ota updater.
I'm still on 12.0.11 and judging from the reports around the net everyone else have received the 12.5 at least.
So now what?
IS there any official way to get the update myself and have the updater see and install it?
I don't want to get random Google results because I have sensitive information coming through the phone.
Thanks in advance.
Hi, I have the same problem, I am stuck at 12.0.11 and does not detect any updates.

There are ROMs floating around that we could try to flash but I would love the get some confirmation first for a trusted source.
Poco support does not exist and they never answered my email about the problem and if they can provide the official ROM to sideload it myself... the local xiaomi don't provide support for global versions either.
Terrible support overal.
