[Q] Samsung camera for AOSPExtended? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello Guys!
I have recently installed the AOSPExtended rom on my phone and i was really disappointed by the camera app that it includes.
So i was wondering if there is any plan to port the stock samsung camera app to AOSP and if not, which camera apps would you recommend?
Another problem I'm facing is with the external sd card. i want to use it as a storage device for my camera but it says that i have to format it first, and i dont want to do it - so is there any way to bypass this ?
Thank you in advance! :good:

The best camera app is the Samsung one since its the only one that allows the camera to work at its best, unless Samsung release the source code for the camera it will never look as good as stock. Either go with a custom stock ROM or stick with AOSP. I have seen people report the HTC camera app works best out of those available.

Is the camera hardware capable of tap to focus?

I think the default Android camera app sucks. I know there will be ways to install other camera applications (or at least a ROM with a different camera) once the whole permanent root thing is figured out, but is there any way to tell if the camera hardware is capable of tapping to focus?
...or is it really all just software?
I know the camera application from the Desire was made available for the Nexus One as a standalone package without flashing a Sense ROM, but I couldn't find any information whether or not tap focusing worked on it.
On stock? Nope xD

...no, I know that it would work with the stock application. I was asking if it would work properly if a camera application from another ROM was ported to it.
Yea I think it would work imo since I've tried the i9000 camera on my samsung vibrant Point is the i9000 has a smile mode where it takes pics when you smile on the contrary vibrant doesn't have that on stock

[Q] Google camera - no slow motion recording?

Unless I'm missing it, or the flash of my ROM didn't work right, the google camera on my device from the pure nexus edition I flashed (http://forum.xda-developers.com/gala...on-s4-t2837239 doesn't seem to have Slow Motion video capturing which I really would like to have .
Is there a way I could just get the old S4 camera to somehow work with the device? (I was googling for one but couldn't find one.) or I take it that was designed custom by samsung for their software? If not the default one that I had from stock, is there another one some of you recommend?

I don't think you can get it working on the google roms since it was made for the Touchwiz system. If you want to just tinker and try, you can try the S5 camera or the Note 3 camera but as far as I know they won't work.
Ah ok, Thanks Deadly for replying. That's a real shame, I don't like all the bloat that came with my AT&T S4, but the touchwiz camera does seem much better. I'll go look at one of the modified touchwiz ROMs available and try one of them.

Which custom rom should i use!

Hi guys,
have been using htc desire 816 for like 1.3 year and it is still working great , just some issues with camera ! anyone else having this problem ? I mean what you do to customize the setting for better performance? I see nowadays a lot of noise in the pictures and not very clear as well! Also thinking of giving the custom roms a try which one is best you think in case of performance & design
What are the must use app to make it stand out , as you can see the device is old and we have to compete with giant devices , so not buying those but using this one to come close in taking selfies and photos and using apps as well.
Also one last thing after the last lollipop update looks like the storage is eaten up by something how to increase the space like before! cause i can hardly install 20-22 apps in total and it fills up!
Thanks in advance and it's good to be back in xda after long time!
I wouldn't use any custom rom, there is no stable one for the device they'r all buggy as hell
use xposed and do w/e you want
as for the storage I use link2sd, it works
Resurrection remix is Fine.
If the camera is your main issue, use Z camera. Touch to focus-snap setting enabled makes It the best &quickest.

What features (if any) are lost if you use AOSP Roms ?

Hi guys,
I was wondering are there any features/functions/apps thats loose functionality if using an AOSP Rom ? im asking because of the curved screen are there things that will only work with orginal roms ?
I know the camera is not as good but is there anything esle?
Also the camera is not as good but howcome ? because i remember it took an extremely long time to port fingerprint drivers over to an S5 but it was eventually done so howcome the camera never has been ?

Is it possible to use the Galaxy S5 original camera built by Samsung on LineageOS?

I'm asking this because all the cameras that are shipped with most custom roms s*cks...
Unfortunately, it seems to have proprietary stuff included in Samsung's original camera app.
No

Sadly it's not possible as the stock camera is closed source ......
i didn't really try out the camera that much in stock before switching to LOS 15.1 but i am accustomed to just using OpenCamera anyway, hope that will give you at least enough control over settings to get decent pictures? (it is a challenge in modest light, i know)
