I'm facing constant network drop after installing custom ROMs (7.1.x). I didn't experience any network drop in Stock Oxygen OS 3.5.8. I have read the forums and I'm using my phone without Google contacts, Dialer and Hike messenger. I have tried both Bean GApps mini and Open GApps pico. But still I'm experiencing constant network drops. I have tried Lineage OS, Carbon OS and right now on Cosmic OS. I took a bug report and noted the following error messages quite frequently. My network provider is T-Mobile USA.

Stock GApps contains Google Contacts & Dialer. Did you try with pico? I'm kind of curious, if some other app in my phone is causing the issue. Using pico gapps didn't solve the issue for me.
An interesting observation, if it's of any help to anyone. I have observed it for two days and I'm quite surprised to see that there's no network drop at my office. But, there's network drop after going home. If the signal strength is an issue at home, then it should have been dropping on Oxygen OS 3.5.8 as well but it didn't. I'm not sure, if any of the network setting in the custom ROM is causing the issue. I believe network drops only if LTE mode is preferred in the network settings.
I think the error message that I posted is harmless or unrelated to this issue. I have taken a look at the logs when there's no network drop and it does contain the same exception.

I tried your ROM today. It's better than other ROMs in terms of network drop. But, still I'm seeing occasional network drops. I have attached the bug report captured during one or two network drops at least. Let me know, if you can find anything. Thank you.
Have you tried to install the OxygenOS 3.5.8 firmware/modem/radio? It worked for me on AospExtended, Resurrection Remix, and LineageOS. Make a nandroid backup before flashing in case something bad happens.
Here is the file: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634758029
The issue it's self is a dependency setup in oos, there's code in the operating system acknowledged in the kernel base to amplify the signal with more power etc ( part of oos power drain) and that's why other roms have issues with signal quality but also the dormancy and handover have dependencies in oos and in the chain of events there comes the issue where we can't access code to be able to fix this. We can get better results using the modem from oos on custom roms but still no dice until the source code is readily available to be torn through with in-depth porting of the dependent applications

I was already on Oxygen OS 3.5.8. Should this be flashed on top of the custom ROM?

I flash the OOS 3.5.8 firmware before clean flashing the ROM I use (AospExtended), then after flashing GApps, Magisk, and some other mods, I flash the OOS 3.5.8 firmware again, just in case.
Instead of flashing the firmware before clean flashing your ROM, I believe that you can also install the entire OOS 3.5.8 ROM before your own ROM (but don't do this after flashing your ROM), but I just use the firmware file to save time. Not sure if WiFi Calling (for T-Mobile) is working with my ROM (not sure how to check), but I don't need it as I have T-Mobile One (Unlimited) anyways.

FAQs:
Q: How do I flash the ROM?
A: Any recovery allowing ROM flashing should work. I am using OpenRecovery though.
Coming from Previous Version or if you want a dirty install:
1. boot into recovery
2. flash the Rom
3. reboot
Coming from Previous Version and if you want a clean install:
1. boot into recovery
2. do a full wife
3. flash the Rom
4. reboot
Coming from Any Other ROM:
1. Boot into Recovery
2. Do a full wife (format date, sysyem, preload & cache is the best)
3. Flash ROM
4. Flash Additional GAPPS if you want (GAPPS for 12.1 --> Slim_mini_gapps.BETA.5.1.build.0.x-20150812.zip)
5. Reboot
6. Don't restore system stuff or apps + data using Titanium, it might cause issues

Hi I'm new here on XDA so if my postings are messed up.... you'll know why:good:
I just tried flashing this rom and I can report that gapps dosn't work or at least gives an error that some functions do not work.
I then tried flashing an updated gapps 5.1 but same error here.... I gues its more a gapps thing than the rom itself.
I couldn't find other errors that, and it seems very stable :good:
My current setup that works is this:
cm-12-20150802-NIGHTLY-find5
gapps-5.0.x-20150404-minimal-edition-signed

[size=+2]This ROM is no longer updated as I don't have the device anymore. Feel free to use my code from GitHub to compile newer versions.[/size]
I have created this ROM for my E210L and I would like to share it here. This is direct port of Cyanogenmod/LineageOS from i9300 to E210L/S/K.
My ROM is based on work from FullGreen: https://github.com/FullGreen and on weeks of original research.
Previous versions of my ROM was direct ports of FullGreen ROM to E210L, later version was ported from scratch from CM13 stable release ZNH5Y sources for i9300, and still had many things based on FullGreen work.
The new version is based on latest source of LineageOS for GT-I9300.
[size=+3]ROM Download[/size]
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=146865 - updated at 2018-10-02.
Older releases:
https://mega.nz/#F!28xyAJTY!gQ5dsDWIz3ydJkhyHEZ1fQ
[size=+3]Flashing[/size]
It is always recommended to upgrade to latest official stock ROM before switching to LineageOS. This is because latest stock ROM includes updated modem and bootloader.
To flash the ROM, use TWRP - for E210L it is available together with the ROM. For E210S and E210K, use TWRP for I9300 from http://twrp.me.
GApps can be downloaded from http://opengapps.org/ , architecture ARM, version 7.1, variant nano.
Boeffla kernel - optional - is also available with the ROM, it can be installed from recovery if you wan't to use it.
[size=+3]WARNING!!![/size]
PLEASE BACK UP EFS BEFORE FLASHING!!! Tweaking this phone can cause EFS wipe in some cases, and you must have a backup to restore it to normal.
[size=+3]Known bugs:[/size]
- Signal strength sometimes will be shown empty, this is only cosmetic issue (but too difficult for me to fix) and don't affect real signal strength.
- As my ROM is based on official LineageOS sources, and for now there is no stable release of LineageOS, if there are bugs in official LineageOS for i9300, they will be probably present also in my ROM.
- Cell broadcasts are disabled as they seem to cause battery drain.
Please note that for most of the cases I cannot solve bugs as I'm not LineageOS developer, I'm only doing a direct port from I9300 to E210.
[size=+3]Troubleshooting[/size]
If having issues with WIFI or IMEI:
Enable developer options and ADB root access, then connect phone to computer and enter in adb shell:
Code:
su
restorecon -R -F /efs
reboot
You have to do this from normal LineageOS, NOT from recovery or from stock/another ROM.
If you restore EFS from backup or go to another ROM and return to this ROM and you have problems, do this again.
There is no harm in doing this if not sure.
If your WIFI still not working, read this:
WIFI module in Galaxy S3 can be of three different types - murata, semco and semcosh. Normally the driver should be able to detect the right type by MAC address, but in LineageOS detection not always works correctly. Theoretically this can be a problem also for the regular model GT-I9300, but it seems to affect mainly the SHV-E210 model. To overcome this, I have made an option to manually override your WIFI module type. To do this, you have to update to my latest version of the ROM and then create an empty file named wifi_override_murata or wifi_override_semco or wifi_override_semcosh in your /data partition.
To do this, enable developer options, then turn on root access for ADB, then connect phone to computer, enter adb shell and execute :
Code:
su
For murata :
rm /data/wifi_override_semco
rm /data/wifi_override_semcosh
touch /data/wifi_override_murata
For semco :
rm /data/wifi_override_semcosh
rm /data/wifi_override_murata
touch /data/wifi_override_semco
For semcosh :
rm /data/wifi_override_murata
rm /data/wifi_override_semco
touch /data/wifi_override_semcosh
Then reboot the phone and try again using WIFI. You have try each of the three options to determine which option is right for your device. And if you hard reset your device, you will have to do this again.
In voice call, if the other person hears an echo of himself try to change AudioFX settings or disable AudioFX in the app.

There is a problem with making or receiving calls after using airplane mode. I always need to reboot (hard or soft, both works) to activate call ability. There is no problem with internet connection (only tried cellular data, no idea for wifi).
Does any one know how to fix it?

so i'm wondering,
currently i use this rom: [ROM][P2][UNOFFICIAL] Resurrection Remix 5.8.4 [7.1.2][VoLTE] by Rk585
it works great as a daily rom, and i was wondering
1 could i dirty flash this one over it,
2 is this the same rom, or are there just 2 developers trying to accomplish the same thing?
3 would there be any benefit in flashing this rom beside the android security patch update?
Hi all. I have little problem with LTE. When I choose lte in Sim card menu, my lte only connect and disconnect. I don't had problem on 5.8.4 version. When I set 3G, internet working. I am not sure if have problem this rom or my Vodafone, internet provider. Have this problem somebody else? Thanks for your answers.

I think I have different baseband and this is why all oreo roms don't work for me. In settings for Baseband version it says Unknown. And I really like the ROM...

I have to point out that for many users this ROM did not boot at all, showing an error screen in Chinese instead.
I was able to fix this and boot successfully only after flashing Pop Kernel along with the ROM.
I can confirm that video recording only works in Footej, and that NFC and secure lock methods don't work (don't even try, I had to factory reset after attempting)
Bugs aside, the ROM is awesome. It's pretty smooth and battery life is nothing to complain about.
If you want the pixel look, try substratum
Yeah the Chinese writing on boot was a little concerning but, it either goes away on its own or you can go to languages and plug in English then take out the other languages. So far its working great for me and is the only 8.1 rom so far that doesnt go from 80 degrees to 1111 in ten minutes with the screen on LOL.

He was talking about Chinese error for the people who won't format with EXT4 first, but in start you are right Chinese language is changeable, this ROM is still at TOP in battery time, smoothness and speed, I tested LOS 15.1 but the Battery time is same like 7.1 and not pretty fast and smooth... No offence just sharing what i tested my Own.
I agree brother I am sticking with this rom for now. Battery life is better and with Pop Kernel it is smooth and fast.

Hey brother forgot to ask,,,I asked on the other 8.1 thread but is the pin/pattern function working? I noticed some were having problems with it on 8.1 for Moto X?
Edit: got it working
PIN work but when you activate it freeze phone and restart after 3 to 5 min , but pattern won't work at all... Still in new build, this is known google 8.1 bug so it will take time..
Is there a new build for this?

Will be any dev to work on RR,AEX & HavoC?
Those were all by our beloved Nfound, who has unfortunately moved on from the Axon 7.
Looks like the only options for updated builds are going to be the Lineage builds (14.1, 15.1, 16.0) , OR you could use generic treble GSIs which should almost be stable.(but won't be specific to our device.)
But for that we have to wait long time to get a stable treble

Who knows.
We've got Treble, but we still need some kind of universal patch for GSI roms to fix audio.
Everything else should work. (Personally, I didn't tried, staying with LOS 15 because of DAC)
Try latest AEX 5.8 from Nfound and Swifty R4 kernel.

LOS 16 is the problem, and at least it hasn't got the crippling audio bug present in all B12 base builds. Of course having the DAC would be awesome, but I guess it all depends on getting the blobs from somewhere (though i have no idea of course)
I think 15.1 uses the DAC and hasn't got the audio bug but i'm not sure. Maybe the devs will end up fixing it if it does have it.

AFAIK DAC works in LOS 16.
15.1 has the audio bug, even on the latest build. Orden didn't patch it, just for LOS 16.
LOS16 is the best choice right now. Smooth, NFC, Hotspot, DAC, no audio bug, etc. GSI are too problematic and laggy.

Oh, you remind me something. I didn't have 'that' call bug.
Some people got problem on AEX 5.7/5.8 and other roms with call bug, it was caused LTE itself or Volte.
Try to change your APNs or Preffered Network Type to Global from LTE.
Edit: Check this thread.
I'm on A2017G LOS 15.1 (Schwifty R4 Kernel + LXT Glassfish profile), but I didn't get that bug when I was on AEX 5.8.
AEX 5.8 (with newer LOS 15.1 vendor and Schwifty R4) should be brillant. I will go back when new version of LOS 15.1 will comeout.

My device is U model. I tried that way, changed to global but no improvement. But i noticed one thing that while ringing if i change the network mode or put the phone to flight mode tyen the calls went to voicemail so that we can identify that is the problem with rom. So far i got only one treble rom that has no call Error. ?️RR TREBLE ROM

I tested the new AEX 9 build but it's almost the same as the AospExtended-v6.0-chiron-20180902-1012-ALPHA build from a couple of days ago floating on the MiMix2 net. I made a flashable zip of the build and as this one, it has a call bug, no NFC, not to many customs (as it is alpha...) (the Benzo rom or PE have way more customs atm and calls are working flawless...)

Which /vendor do you use?
If I treblerize with LOS15. 1, can I flash any treble rom (GSI) ? Will encryption and restrictive selinux work?
What do you use currently as daily driver?
Have you tested latest NFound AEX5. 8 (from telegram - 20180906)? If so, with which /vendor?

I'll always recommend the v1.1 NFounds way.
Benzo and PixelExperience are imo the best to use even as a daily driver. My focus is on Benzo as everything works beside the Hotspot (NFC is working with the @kountry83 NFC- fix ). Rest is flawless and a bunch of customization as I dont find that on other Pie's (only on PE). Even a 5hSOT with average use.
BenzoPie
PixelExperience
