[GUIDE] Tasker - Your device doesn't appear to be rooted! - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Guides, News, & Discussion

I've been working on tasker on my phone, and i run into a problem, when i wanted to execute shell commands, using root.
"Your device doesn't appear to be rooted!" I've been browsing the internet about this problem and i found a solution that actually works (at least it works for me)
1. You need a file explorer with root acces to / (Root Explorer, ES File Explorer etc)
2. Open "/system"
3. Open "build.prop"
4. Add this line (or a line containing modversion) at the beginning "# modversion for tasker"
6. Reboot your phone
7. Done :fingers-crossed:

Good info, thanks for sharing. Using Magisk? Some other solutions are to prepend "su" to your Run Shell commands:
su
input swipe xxx yyy
And another is to install supersu app (even though you don't use it art all with magisk).

[q] help needed on 6.2.1

Hi all,
I got my KF few days back, Rooted it, before I could install the android market, got forced update to 6.2.1. 2 days ago saw this new root method using BurritoRoot. Tried rooting it, seems successful, however, now when I arrived at the home page, I cant even open the Superuser app at all. It goes the same for the Root Explorer - prompting:
"Root Explorer has not yet managed to obtain root access. Because of issues with Superuser, this often happens the first time the app is run but is usually fine from then on. Click ok and restart the app and try again. Make sure u respond correctly to the Superuser prompt." Then it comes with a force close.
Seriously I do not know whats wrong with it, now i cant even use the root explorer for me to install Android Market.
Anybody can help me with it?
Million Thanks.
did you use the superuser-2.apk ?

Im using the ROOT INSTALL - Method 1 and I downloaded the file from Rootzwiki, apparently the file is named "com.noshufou.android.su-1.apk". and I used the following commands:
adb root
adb remount
adb push su /system/xbin/su
adb shell chown 0.0 /system/xbin/su
adb shell chmod 06755 /system/xbin/su
adb install com.noshufou.android.su-1.apk
adb reboot
So which means I should use the Superuser -2.apk instead?
What should I do now? Download the Superuser-2 file and repeat the whole process again???
thanks.
yes - the new version seems to be the only one working with burritoroot
consider to use KFU to make things easier:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
should be option 2 (permanent root with superuser)

Permissions question

This may amount to a n00b question, but here goes: After rooting my Kindle(7.2.3), my GF decided she loved the new look and functionality of it so she wanted me to do the same. Hers was on 7.3, which made the process different, but I was able to do it successfully. I've already installed Market and Google Play, and am now trying to remove the ads by changing Dtcp_apk.apk to Dtcp_apk.bat. However, I keep getting an Operation Failed message. I realize this has to do with changing the permissions, but I can't for the life of me remember how to do it, or where exactly I read it when I rooted my personal Kindle. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
So...
Code:
adb shell su -c "mount -o remount,rw ext4 /system"
adb shell su -c "mv /system/app/dtcp_apk.apk /system/app/dtcp_apk.bak"
...doesn't work?
And now, my n00bness shall shine through. Haha. After I rooted the first Kindle(7.2.3), I only had to change the dtcp_apk.apk file to dtcp_apk.bat and it worked like a charm. The method you are describing, I am not familiar with. Is that something I do within a cmd window? I apologize for not knowing, I just didn't have to do it before...
Yes, those are entered from the command line. The first one remounts the system partition as read/write, allowing changes to be made to that partition. The second one simply renames the file so the system can't find it. The "su -c" part tells the shell to run the commands as the root user, needed on stock systems.
I'm guessing your file manager your using doesn't have full root access I use es file explorer and you go into settings root settings and check them all then you can rename that file you don't have to learn to use adb to do this...

AHA!!!! This was exactly what I did the last time, but couldn't remember this time around. Worked like a charm. Thank you both for the responses and the help. :victory:

Nubia Z9 Mini SuperSU root tutorial

There is already a tutorial on how to root the Z9 mini but it uses Kinguser as the root method.
I rooted my phone using the Kinguser method but was unable to use titanium backup or lucky patcher for that matter.. (Whats the use when it doesn't work with two of my favorite apps. lol).
This tutorial takes it one step further and changes the root from Kinguser to SuperSU !!
This tutorial doesnt need you to Install a custom recovery. Installing SuperSU only requires flashing a custom recovery first, this bypasses that need to flash one.
Bonus: Tutorial for any Soft Brick Involving the Z9 mini
STEP 1 : ROOT using Kinguser
Download: http://www50.zippyshare.com/v/5Tn8Cp1f/file.html
After downloading the above files, extract them.
Open that folder and run the file named as “r-o-o-t.bat”. A command window will appear in your PC screen.
Now connect your device to PC using USB data cable.
Enter the number "1" in command window and wait for the program to process your entry.
Once you see the message “Waiting for devices” in the command window, switch off your smartphone,
press the Volume down button and Power button until you see the Boot Menu.
Once you see the Boot Menu in your device, press Reboot to begin the rooting process.
Congrats!! Your ZTE Nubia Z9 Mini is rooted now but unfortunately with Kinguser.
STEP 2 : Change Kinguser to SuperSU.
This is where the fun begins. As I am not sure on which Custom recovery to use.. I just went ahead with using terminal to install SuperSU and replace Kinguser.
Download :
Terminal emulator app LINK
Replace_Kingroot_With_SuperSU.zip LINK
Steps :
Send the extracted folder "mrw" to the root of SD card and make sure that this folder contains 6 files
Open Terminal emulator and type :
Su
Click to collapse
This grants root permission to terminal emulator.
Next type
sh /sdcard/mrw/root.sh
Click to collapse
and press enter.
It might display some error, at the end it will launch SuperSU. (open SuperSU manually if it doesn't)
Update su binary using normal method, then reboot.
Now All apps that require root will work without issues..!!
Hi, the folder you mention contains only 4 files. What is the problem with that?

Rooted on Magisk v13 but cannot mount /System

So I have rooted my Nexus 6p with Magisk v13. Confirmed it worked as I have several apps with SU authority. I'm trying to install V4A. In order to get it to work I need to rename audio_effects.conf in /Vendor/Etc. I'm getting permission issue. How do I mount to get permission? Tried several ways: downloading remount app, using terminal emulator, using adb shell. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I used to be have permission when I used old systemless root + SuperSU for root.

Just use this and the add ons like JamesDSP. The sound is much better than viper in my opinion.

Never had this issue with magisk, may you do a clean install, maybe it's magisk, maybe the rom, maybe your Explorer. Anyway, if you only want to rename the file, do it with twrp, boot twrp, mount system, vendor whatever you want to and rename the file with the twrpfilemanager, this will always work.

Here you go : https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=890129502657581062
Email, calendar, calculator and weather app. (btw, calculator is present in my rom as i see now )
Mind to set permissions right when doing it manual.
But you can drag and drop them in my A2017U-B35 zip and they will be flashed too with a clean install.

Install adb/fastboot on your computer and connect the phone to the computer with debug enabled through your development settings on your phone.
1. Open a CMD window with admistrator privileges
2. Type adb devices (press enter)
(Make sure you are in the same directory adb.exe is installed)
3. Type adb reboot disemmcwp (press enter)
(Your device will now reboot with some extra write permissions in the background)
