According to the following link this is a soak test, which means it is not the final build and could therefore have some bugs with it:
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/download-moto-g4-play-android-7-1-1-update-soak-test-build-ota-zip/
Nevertheless it is good to see the Nougat update finally come out for the g4 play.

I also have the xt1609 on the May security update. I don't think VZW's locked bootloader will allow downgrading to a previous firmware version and I definitely don't think any non Verizon firmware will successfully flash on the xt1609.
Of course you could always try it at your own risk. However I think you will probably get a pre-flash validation error.

I'm just hoping we get Nougat soon. Anyone know?

These files can be installed from the twrp?

Any chance to update an Amazon version?

I have the xt1607 version n it still won't

Does this work for the US unlocked model XT1607?
Has anyone tried to do this with this model? One more thing. Someone said that flashing this will prevent future OTA's. Is that true? I don't think it would because when people do a soak test they still get the final release OTA update. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks!

Its not working.. I have downloaded the update from the provided link and its not working.

Unable to update to Nougat after downgrading from Nougat Soak Test

Hello everyone, I followed the process of downgrading from Nougat to Marshmallow with flashing gpt and Bootloader files provided by our famous Moto G4 Plus but Tech Burner, I successfully downgraded but now I'm getting Nougat OTA update, but whenever I try to update it automatically via OTA I get some error in between of the update, it just shows 'error' and then if I try to flash it through stock recovery, it gives an error of status 7 or something? Can you please help me? I'm using Moto G4 Plus XT1643(Indian Dual Sim)
have you had clean install using adb or fast boot .??
Sent from my Moto G4 Plus using Tapatalk
Just google error 7 android there are loads of fixes for this.
wipe clean everything and then use fastboot to install MM and then without doing anything take the OTA it should, any modifications to system will give an error... i just added pixel launcher's apk to the system file and it gave an error... so be cautious!

[GUIDE] How to get Magisk Root & Xposed on Oreo 8.0 (STOCK)

I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOUR DEVICE BRICKS, SD CARD DAMAGES OR NUCLEAR WAR STARTS.
Rooting method described below will work on Oreo-running devices ONLY (confirmed on build OPN27.76-12-22 and on OPNS27.76-12-22-9).
Please follow all steps very carefully and make sure you downloaded correct versions of all .zip files mentioned in my instruction!
ROOT (SafetyNet test will PASS!)
1. Download all files listed below:
- twrp-3.2.3-0-addison.img (CLICK)
- Magisk-v17.1.zip or newer if availabe (CLICK)
- f2fsfix-2018.9.2.zip (CLICK)
2. Flash TWRP using Fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.3-0-addison.img
3. Flash Magisk-v17.1.zip (or newer if available).
4. Go to TWRP/Settings and open Terminal.
5. Run both of following commands:
Code:
echo KEEPVERITY=true>>/data/.magisk
echo KEEPFORCEENCRYPT=true>>/data/.magisk
6. Flash f2fsfix-2018.9.2.zip
7. Reboot (it is crucial in case of installing Xposed afterwards).
8. Optional but recommended: update your Magisk Manager to the latest version (CLICK).
9. Open Magisk -> Modules and update f2fs-loopback-bug-workaround module to the newest version (can be done only via Magisk Manager only if new version of f2fs-loopback-bug-workaround module is available).
10. Enjoy rooted Oreo.
UPDATE 03.10.2018
If you flashed everything as described in OP and noticed that you got stuck in boot, go to TWRP again and:
1. Uninstall Magisk using latest Magisk uninstaller.
2. Flash Magisk 17.1.zip AGAIN (yes.).
3. Flash f2fsfix-2018.9.2.zip
4. Enjoy rooted phone.
PS. I do not know why device does not start after first flashing to be honest, but these four steps above are confirmed by several users (and by me).
UPDATE 03.10.2018
XPOSED (be careful: Xposed for Oreo is still in BETA distribution and flashing it will break your SafetyNet!)
1. Open Magisk Manager -> Downloads.
2. Download Xposed Installer (the one from the screen below):
https://image.ibb.co/byLUuK/Xposed_Framework.png
3. Let Magisk install it.
4. Reboot.
5. Open Xposed Installer (you will see orange exclamation mark, don't worry).
6. Reboot once again.
7. Voila.
Hit THANKS if I helped!

@rafikowy ah, so basically the problem was with dm-verity and forced encryption? That makes sense. So it would basically also work if you'd not extract the boot.img from the OTA zip and mod it with Magisk manager with both enabled and flash that (might be easier than flashing normal Magisk and then make the changes), so you'd basically just flash the img and the module zip in TWRP.
Well, if no bigger bugs appear I might try the Oreo OTA and root tomorrow. Don't think it will be here on its own till then, even if it's already the official rollout (Indian and brasilian users seem to get it officially)
First magisk manager did not want to open, but a reboot solved. thanks
So, Lenovorola is still "undecided" in regards to patching F2FS.
I wonder why...

Only a Soak test is available, the link is in the thread in the ROM section. And yes, it doesn't seem to update your bootloader, it was already successfully testet to go back to 7.1.1

Unfortunately it does not work. : (TWRP prompts for a PIN to decrypt data.) How to select cancel and install Magisk on installation f2fs-loopback-bug-workaround-2018.1.31.zip displays an error that does not detect magisk or is incompatible. How do I format the date everything is installed but the phone does not turn on... Any idea?
Sorry but, if verity is enabled, that means you are unable to modify /system files?

Nope. It's impossible for now. You can`t go back to full stock, because you'll lose your IMEI with flashing full 7.1.1 FW with RSD or fastboot.

XT1687 running NPN25.137-83 - OTA update

Hey guys,
My G5+, which is running NPN25.137-83, rooted with Magisk, TWRP, Xposed just prompted me for an OTA update.
I'm guessing if i try to update i'll (best case scenario) break something, worst case brick my phone.
I'm running Aug2017 security patch.
This OTA update says it includes Security updates till Nov2017 + Stability improvements.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

Do not apply the update, it will end up failing as you have TWRP installed, but every time you restart your phone, it will boot to TWRP and then you'll have to reboot from TWRP to bootloader and then system. Anyways, I recommend waiting until the OP of the TWRP flashable stock thread updates the links with that update and then flash the update via TWRP. Make sure you go into developer options and turn off automatic updates. You can also use an app to freeze Motorola update service if you don't want to be notified about the update.

Thanks @jeffsga88! I will disable automatic updates to avoid any accidents.

MetroPCS OTA Update

My MetroPCS Moto E4 was just prompted with an OTA update, NCQ26.69-46-5-4. It says it's an update to include Android security updates through January 1, 2018.
I've got TWRP installed, and I'm rooted with Magisk, but I'm still on the stock ROM. I've been holding off to install Lineage until after the bump to 15.1, and (hopefully) "official" status.
Has anybody taken the OTA yet? If so, can you confirm that TWRP and Magisk still work?

You're going to have to jump through a few hoops to take that ota. I know there are methods for pixels and nexus' for doing it, but they likely won't work on this device.
Probably gonna have to backup your data, then flash the stock firmware, re root and restore data. But there shouldn't be any reason twrp won't work after updating.

How to update from Android 8?

Hi, I've just received a second hand OnePlus 5T. I used the unbrick tool, which left the phone on OxygenOS 5.1.3 (Android 8.1.0). But if I try to update from the menu it says the system is up to date and with local update it fails.
I unlocked and rooted the phone now and I can't update it neither. Anyone knows what to do to install the latest OxygenOS version and/or custom roms based on Android 10/11?

Install Oxygen Updater from the Play Store and it'll show you the latest OxygenOS version you can update to without data loss. Once you're done installing that, re-open the app and then it'll show you the even newer version of OxygenOS that you can install over your existing installation.
