Can we expect a release of LineageOS on the LG G6 (US997) - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Just picked this phone up. StockOS looks OK, but Ive always used a more stock-based OS, and am hoping that well at least get one or two really popular/supported roms.
Since only a few versions of this device are bootloader unlocked, will we get support from lineage? Im hoping eventually.

Bump. Any info on this?

Just Bought Another G4, I Lost the Lottery So Hard

My previous G4 is still working perfectly, but I gave it to my wife as hers stopped booting.
Placed an order and, well I got a 601 serial. Yay there I guess. But it is SEA AND has 6.0 installed on here.
Im not extremely familiar, but from brief reading I am super screwed with battery life thanks to 6.0. It has a locked bootloader thabks to being SEA. AND it isnt rootable.
Did I just get super screwed or am I missing something?

As for sea & 6.0 yes. maybe there is way to flash an L image there/
As for yourself, no.
Just give her the new G4 and get your old one back

Downgrading to 6.0

Is there a way to downgrade from 7.0 to 6.0 even though out the box the V20 comes running 7.0?
lol nope.

1. The v20 doesn't have 6.0 Firmware
2. If it did have it and you were on 7.0 Firmware then downgrading would actually brick your device.
Why? Because LG incorporated an "Anti_Rollback" counter. You can see it in the 'Hidden Menu'.
i.e. If MM was Anti-Rollback #1 and Nougat Anti-Rollback was #2 there would be no going back. You can only flash/upgrade/restore firmware/Roms with the same Anti-Rollback number. So if you take an OTA and it switches to 3 then any Roms or Backups or even Firmware Packages that are lesser than that you can No longer use.
Good Luck.

Thanks, that summed it up for me [emoji106] [emoji106]
I just bought a v20 off eBay. It was already on h91810r version I just bumped it back to h91810p which is 2 versions back with no issue and got to h91810k and it rejected it so I guess that's that. No root or custom recovery for me. Lg played us dirty.

10k is the last version with ARB=0 (anti-rollback). Any firmware update that followed was ARB=1.
If you buy a V20 off of eBay, your best bet is to not buy it from an individual because they will probably have used it right up until the time of auction, meaning they will probably have installed the latest updates. Mobile phone resellers that sell them in lots are a better bet.
I got mine last week and it was on 10j. You bet I made sure it was not going to be connected to the Internet before I was done rooting.

For what it's worth. I think the anti rollback thing is mainly T-Mobiles fault since I believe the T-Mobile model is the only one that has anti rollback activated on it.
I tried getting it to h918k but it failed. And I did buy it from a seller not a everyday Joe. That's why I was pissed when I seen it was h91810r I was like WTF I'll brick it and send it back.

Unfortunately, it's still a luck of the draw. A mobile phone reseller might have gone ahead and put the latest updates on it, but that's not always the case. If an individual is selling their V20, they probably didn't keep it locked away for the last year before deciding now is a good time to sell it.
Anyway, you should keep a watch on this thread. There is hope, but it won't be instant gratification.

Yah I figured in the near future it would see full root and full working twrp. The bottom line is I like the damn phone, it works perfectly ( for a LG ) it's a big step up from the v10. But the power button if faulty you have to just about put your finger through the phone to get it to activate and that's a pain in the ass when your doing the combo to get into DL mode or fastboot.
Then the power button alone issue would be good enough reason to get a return or exchange.
Unfortunately the seller has about 20 of these devices mainly all t mobile but there all messed up or in terrible condition. I paid 130$ for this and it's mint except that button. He's got a 90$ parts phone that's unlocked but has a botched charger port and I bet it's sitting on h91810j or older firmware. There's root in sight.

Anyone working on TWRP and/or Lineage support?

Anybody looking into the E4?

Is this for the US version? I tried it on mine (US) and it didn't work.
I just bought the Qualcomm Snapdragon version of this today (XT1768). I'll try to have a TWRP build out this week. LineageOS I also plan to do for this device as time permits.

Great to see you on board!
I'm going to be working as much as I can on the Boost Mobile variant. I'll be updating my progress in a thread.
I get the metro pcs version Friday and I'll begin working on making things work on it.
Got my metro pcs version, aside from unlocking the bootloader I haven't attempted to root yet.
Successfully rooted using magisk, that's about as far as I've gotten so far.
Thank you @KyleBryant. I have the Verizon prepaid version. To your knowledge , is this rootable?

As long as it's not on a contract I think I can be rooted, I'm not sure how major carriers do their prepaid bootloaders. I say give it a try, if you can unlock the bootloader then yes it can be rooted.
Here's a guide to unlocking the bootloader and rooting.

Awesome, really glad to see you here! I just picked this up today. I was getting bored with the E 2nd gen. I can't wait to start building roms for this thing.

I am getting this variant tomorrow. what is your progress? I am going to unlock and try to build on mine right out of the box. first self build. *fingers crossed* hope I don't brick it right away. maybe we can collaborate on any issues that we come across. I'm looking to have mainly unlimited super high speed data and great battery life, while still being a great phone that can multitask well.
Los 14.1 and 15 are being worked on currently.

H850 20K Source

Hey
Since the latest sources from LG has been absent for a while, I thought I'd let people know it's now available here.
Couple weeks ago I sent a request to the LG Open Source Code Distribution site and asked for updated sources. Few days later I got a mail with good news.
Don't know if it was my asking, or coincidence.

What about 20n? Which is already out in UK.
Could be worth a look to see what's changed and see if it will work with updated bootloaders etc...

Did you check it out? Find anything?
Asgard kernel doesn't work the latest bootloader?
I may build a kernel with kcal - temporarily, as I don't want to downgrade my bootloader.
btw, I'm new here I have not rooted my G5 until today.
@eoghan2t7
It's seem the 20k source will not even work with the 20k rom/bootloader... wtf?
Maybe I've done something wrong. I am using latest Fulmics.

LG v20 H910 on att prepaid, which OTA updates should get pushed and how?

Prior to doing any custom roms i did attempt to put in my other phone's att prepaid sim card and tried to do the check for updates to get it from android 7 to android 8. I left it in all night and checked the next morning, it kept saying no updates available.
Is it not available via prepaid at all? Or if so, does this mean actually contacting att and having them fully register it in the system not just swapping the sim card temporarily from my existing phone?
Which OTA updates are currently the latest being pushed (is it 8.1?)
I'm assuming that also, once a custom rom is installed, OTA pushes wont work regardless and it must be reverted back to stock (could also have been the issue)?
Thanks in advance
Oreo 8.0 was the last update, since then lg has ceased providing ota's. But does not matter if you rooted the phone or flashed a custom rom as the ota's will fail anyway
