I have my phone rooted (originally it was king root but I managed to get SUroot on it) and have TWRP recovery installed, other than that my phone is stock. Yesterday I got a notice that there was an OTA update. I tried it out of curiosity but it failed with no harm done just an error. Does anyone know what the update is? Is it worth reverting to stock for?

So I just tried to take an OTA and it gave me an error on the install screen then rebooted. Upon restart it gave me a message saying my device was suspected of rooting and that no OTA will be taken. All I've done is root, install root Explorer and titanium and hidden a few apps. Recovery is stock so I'm on the stock ROM. I really have no use for root so I don't mind if I lose it.
Should I just uninstall superuser or do I need a factory reset before I can take an OTA?
I have AT&T G2 rooted and stock recovery. I took the OTA update and all went fine and I didn't lose root either. All good on this end other than not knowing what was in the update.
EDIT: I now know what was in the update lol! A quick google search usually answers most question
So I rooted, unlock the bootloader, and installed a custom ROM. I used the toolkit to revert back to stock. Tried to get the marshmallow update, and it fails to install. I try to go into recovery and it says no command. Are these related? And what do I need to do to receive the update?

You don't see the twrp recovery because you reverted completely back to stock. That is the stock recovery that you are seeing. Be patient and you will get the update or you can flash twrp again and update manually
I already got the update but when installing it stops about half way and gives an error message
I had this issue as well and found no solution other than flashing a pre-rooted 6.0 image.
Even after I went to 5.1 stock the OTA failed with no clear error.
That's the problem with toolkits.
Hello,
i have rooted my phone, installed TWRP and kept the Stock ROM 6.0.0 (didn't change anything at all)
In the past few weeks my phone annoyed me with the OTA Update so i wanted to install it. Sadly, it said somethinf about failed because of "package expects build fingerprint".
Can i somehow flash the OTA update with TWRP?
I uploaded the OTA file here: https://mega.nz/#!QlpQAJYQ!-TCIy_f-Lq8GdvRj2uxa02XJUgQqEVcXUhScl7sryJI
Just wanted to ask if anyone can help me? I've been waiting for a few days now. No solution yet :/
It annoys me a lot.
When I got this error on my OnePlus, the solution was to flash the stock recovery.
Then I was able to install the OTA.
After the update I flashed TWRP again.

I tried that already. It sowhs a red android icon and update failed :/
I recently rooted my S7 Edge. However, after rooting, I realized that my Pokemon Go(hehe ) is not allowing me to catch pokemons cuz it detects my rooted phone.
Thus, I tried to use Hide my Root app to hide the su binary. However, it says that it cannot find the su binary. I reinstalled SuperSU and it says that it has successfully updated the file. I also checked using a root checker and it found it. I tried a couple other apps and all can't seem to fix this.
A while back, I tried to unroot it from the SuperSU app but then I got stuck in a bootloop. Thus, I had to reroot my phone using Odin and the same root firmware to get it out of the loop and run back normally. I am from Indonesia and I can't find the stock firmware of my country... I am so frustrated...
Can anyone help me out with this? If I can't get the su binary issue fixed, I wanna unroot it but I am worried that it will get stuck in another bootloop if I'll be installing the firmware of another country...
Someone please help me... I'm new to this... D,:
what csc are you on?
same here. stock firmware for indonesia haven't released yet
Hi,
Can anyone help me, please?
I used to have the version 16s installed on my phone but after the forced update, got the official 17s version installed.
Lost root access and got a lot of chinese apps installed.
Now I can't root my phone anymore. I've tried a a lot of methods/twrps and can't get the phone to boot to twrp recovery.
After flashing the recovery.img, phone only reboot again to the chinese rom.
From what I'm reading on a xda topic, it seems the same as this guy:

Thanks for the reply. My phone used to be rooted, too (Lollipop), but became unrooted during an unwanted OTA update and can not be re-rooted ever since (Marshmallow). None of the King/o/root/etc. apps did the job over ADB from a pc or installed on my phone. Flashing supersu zip from TWRP got my phone into a bootloop last night from which I could only get out by re-locking the bootloader and installing a stock ROM. The bloody 17v update notice keep popping up and I have no choice but to let it install sooner or later. If I ever manage to re-root my device, I'll try your method.

Thank you for your reply, it is CN version.
I was able to root the phone again, by doing fastboot commands manually.
flash recovery, flash misc
After that, I was able to enter recovery mode.
