hi guys i want to buy a atom life but the reviews by users are so bad!!!!!
is atom life so bad really??????
plz advice!!!!!
Atom life is very good for the price you can buy it !
But... MWG support is so bad, I bought my atom-life less than 1 year ago and it became to have problems with the speakers and the microphone... So I sent it to MWG for fixing it because it's still under the warranty.
They said me that I opened the cellphone by myself before, which brokes the warranty. But I never opened it !!! They are wrong and now I have to pay 270€ (~$400) for fixing it or 35€ ($50) for sending it back to me !
I bought it here : http://www.expansys-usa.com/p.aspx?i=164358
As you can see they ask me to pay more than the price of the atom life !
If you want a smartphone for less than one year maybe it's a good deal, otherwise don't buy it or you will have to pay if something goes wrong.

hi. i have been using this phone for a over a year now. there are some minor bugs in this phone. but i just got used to these bugs. never tried to get them fixed or complained. the only thing which is a disadvantage is poor battery. it just manages to last a day, sometimes only 18 hours in the day - i keep my phone on 24 hours and talk time is about 1 hour average.
if you willing to do that, then this phone is a great buy.
from the other forum for atom, i have downloaded ROM update by TranMinhMan and it has done wonders for my phone.
was planning to change, but after this ROM update, i have no plans.
i love this phone.

atom life huv strong processor and huge ram, eat battery power to keep live a life.
Have been using 1 for almost a year now.
Pros: Fast processor, 1Gb internal storage, ~850MB user accessible. 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, SDHC expandable (I use a 16GB Sandisk card), WOW speakers
Cons: Battery Life (the only 1 as far as i'm concerned)
I still use the MWG's latest ROM. With MS set to release an update to WM6 soon, i'm sure it won't be long before we get our hands on another cooked ROM. That's when I'll upgrade.
Typical daily usage: 30 mins voice calls, 20 text messages, 10 mins Wifi in the morning to download mails from 4 accounts, 25 mins 3G use for traffic and weather (HTC Home PLug-in and Windows Live), emails and surfing, and a few games in between. 1530 Mah OEM battery would almost be dead by the time get home at the end of the day. I know covering the 2nd contact in the OEM battery would give you about 2 days but got myself a 3000Mah Mugen battery. And now it lasts 4 days without covering the contact.
The Atom Life is one of the most responsive devices I've used. Even better than some pure PDA's.
At about $200, it's a great deal. But I'd get a great replacement battery.. I'd recommend Worcell and Mugen.
been using it for a year. MWg brand 6.0 rom
Love the phone capabilities, design and specs( luv the 1GB rom ).
64 RAM is okay only probs when heavy browser and GPS program( i use bluetooth gps)- i need to clean the ram/temp
At the time of purchase best deal on spec and $ paid( was either this or asus p535). Today price drop by only 25$ pdaplaza.com
Dislike the following:
- battery is rather weak- lasts 30 hours if no calls- I will upgrade to MUGEN 1850 battery soon- should be much better
- chrome paint on camera ring, side buttons is weak- extended contact will dull/rust, good news about this is that its grey dark plastic underneath on the side buttons, so its ok. In general glossy black paint will fade/tiny scratches if u are not careful - I pamper mine ( i use screen protector too- cut it from nintendo DS pack)
- camera i could be better as always with 2.0 megapixels. MACRO mode is useful
- wifi.... not good for my phone - but I dont use wifi alot so its cool ( long story- search my username- a ROM upgrade should fix this from what I read )
so to wrap it up- baby this phone and you will not regret it.
If you cant baby it look for a different phone.
It is my first WM device and i do not regret it. Cheap and capable.
Hi Guys
My friend has a touch HD and recently bought a larger battery from ebay (an 1800mah) but its not one of the larger ones which requires a new expanded back plate for the phone. I was wondering if anything like this was available for the Jade, probably around the 15-1600 mah mark?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Jakai
DX have it:
http://dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.27004
Sorry buddy that looks like the same ones off ebay to me, with the larger back plate (making the phone fat!)
I can't imagine the one I'm looking for being over 1800mah or so, due to size. What I'm really after is a more powerful battery but at the same dimensions as the current one.
Anyone else shed any light? To make it more difficult, ideally located in the UK
That is impossible. To get more power the battery needs to be bigger.

This same shop has a 1300Ma version, looks to be same form-factor
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.23977
That looks exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. Now just need to find a dealer in UK or something on ebay. Thanks for your help!
Larger Battery
Let us know when you find a source closer to Europe. I am interested too for a Touch Cruise!
I've bought one off of ebay for about £7 with free delivery from hong kong, with free delivery! not too shabby I'll let u know how it performs once its arrived.
Says in the review on that link that it doesnt last as well as the standard one
It was only cheap so I guess we'll see. The sheer fact that its higher capacity would suggest it will last longer.
I'm expecting delivery hopefully this week but probably mid next week.
I bough some 2500 mAh NiMh batteries off ebay, my charger measured the best ones at 500 mAh, some where only 350 mAh. With batteries, stick to known brands if you want the best performance.
As nicodbgh said, its impossible. The chemistry in a Li-Ion battery requires a certain amount of volume per Ah, this is not going to be improved on, not significantly anyway. New chemistry may come along that is better, but it won't be Li-Ion.
Battery arrived on saturday and I've put it in the phone. The battery looks identical to the standard HTC one (even has the same "HTC Innovation" text on the front) except that its 1300mah (opposed to the original 1100mah)
It took longer to charge (abut 6 hours) but its only the first cycle. I'll use it this week and see if I notice any jump in battery life.
Update
And the verdict is:
Absolutely rubbish! It takes much longer to charge than the standard battery and so far I haven't had more than 1.5 days of use out of it, thats maybe 10 minutes of calls and 5-10 texts, few mins of internet. I have push mail and data connection constantly turned on and usually get around 3 days out of the standard 1100mah.
Bit of a dissapointment as I would have liked extra life (an extra day) but it was only cheap and at least now we all know. I speak on behalf of the larger batteries with the extended back plate but my advice is stick with the original battery over the 1300mah one.
Hope this is helpful to others.

This is the problem with "no name" batteries. Perhaps it gets better after a few charging cycles.
i'm surprised of the battery consumation in hd2.. it's only 2 day max, how's that possible? with my omnia 2 4-5 days, and hd2 only 2 days?
now i'm using android in nand, haven't tried wm 6.5 or wp7
let me know
2 days is pretty good for this phone, on any OS. I get maybe a day and a half if i dont use data/wifi.
Basically they didn't put a big enough battery for the size of the screen / cpu.

Id be pretty happy with that If I were you, I struggle to get 24 hours (unless I leave it in my pocket all day)..................
2 Days!!! Wow, never managed to get through even 24hrs on WM6.5! I browsed the internet constantly on my hd2, the battery is drained very fast and had to swap batteries (fortunately I have 5 in spare). I might be tempted to get the official extended one in the futur but at the moment, I don't want to make my hd2 look like a huge brick similar to my old htc universal/touch pro2.

Omnia has smaller screen and slower processor, if you crippled the HD2 brightness and speed it could probably last the same time in WM.
HD2 is a design compromise, HTC wanted a 'wow look how thin and what a big screen' reaction for their flagship phone, which was acheived but at the cost of battery life and heating issues.
The battery issue is only going to get much worse with future multi core and higher spec phones - as with electric cars the limitation is the battery technology.
rechargin costs are big? for ex make a recharge every 2 day, how much cost in a year?
I get 5 days if i dont use internet and 2G and maybe a few sms. My drain is 3% for 8hrs standby - 9% for a day in standby.
Otherwise 1.5 days with lots of wifi internet and H/3G browsing + calls/sms
5 days??? what rom do you have?
the standart rom hd2 work 2 days 50sms and 1 hour wifi work on day

heres some sums from a fw yrs ago i found online, just to give you an idea of cost per charge
----------------------------------
Assume a 2AH 3V battery (typical).
Assume 10c per KW Hour (I pay this in CA). (samsamuel - i pay 4 times this in the uk)
Energy in battery = 2 * 3 = 6 Watt hours.
Cost = 6*0.1/1000 = 0.06 cents.
Figure an efficiency of 50% for the charger and battery, so the cost of the actual power used is 0.12 cents.
----------------------------------
or in figures for our battery,
1.2 AH
3.7 V = 4.44 Wat Hrs
i pay 20p per kWH
so
4.44/1000 * 0.2 = 0.0888
assume 50% efficient,
= 0.177 pence per complete charge from flat to full.
in euro?
2 days
amazing
Let's get all the retarded posts aside (hey guys, if I leave my phone on airplane mode, it'll go for 5 weeks! serial!!). If you're using your phone as a doorstop, then you might as well sell it for a 5yo Nokia.
Each day, I put in about:
2hrs worth of talk on bluetooth
5-10 sms
weather auto update every 6hrs
30min of 3G surfing (only on 3G. Switch to 2G when not heavy surfing)
I get +50hrs of use on one single charge. Go into your settings and turn off all the unnecessary crap that's running in the background and you'll get good battery life.

your analysis is done with what kind of money? euro, dollars?
I think the point Sam was trying to make is that charging your phone is relatively inexpensive. Regardless of currency.

Hello Guys,
I have a new Samsung Focus, around 3 days old.. I have been given a 1650 mAH battery. The battery life is terrible, discharges like 10% in one hour with hardly any usage with Wifi OFF, Edge ON, auto brightness and all the power saver methods applied.
Should i charge it overnight or something ? Like 12 hours at a stretch or something?
Pls help
I'd take the battery out and feel it. If it's a Samsung battery, it should be perfectly flat on the sides. I was having terrible battery life, and it was because the battery had gone so bad that it was bulging.

Can you please detail your WP7 OS build, if it's an OEM Samsung battery or a generic one? It looks like you have a bad battery, same conditions as yours my one year+ OEM battery holds 3days+
There's also a specific thread for battery life I started a while ago over here
The battery is curved on the left and right sides, flat on the top and bottom. Its a SAMSUNG battery EB575152LU 1650 mAh. I am not sure if its OEM or generic
OS version : 7.10.7720.68
Should i ask the seller to send me a 1500mAh NEW battery? mayb thats causing the issues?
Or I should wait for a few charge cycles to complete?

With the infos that you just shared, it looks as the battery has gone bad.
I wasn't aware of an OEM battery 1650 mAh, see my reply here. Can you confirm it looks like that or maybe post a photo of it?
Keep in mind that cheap batteries look like those but there are significant differences, but you'd need an original battery for comparison.
Even one of my chinese cheap batteries still holds 70-80% of the regular battery... (that's 2+ days in the conditions you mentioned above)
It looks just like the one in your post, except for 1650mAh. Looks like original/OEM Samsung.. will send pics once i get home.
Morning charge was at 100% . Hardly any usage, some amount of whatsapp texting, now phone is switched off
The seller has agreed to send a replacement battery. I am just hoping that it is not a phone fault or Mango update screwed it up. Can it be a phone issue?
Checked on amazon, one guy said The battery does not hold charge, otehr said that NEAR FIELD COMMUNICATIOn should be written below Samsung, which is not the case in mine.

7720 has quite good battery life so shouldn't be a phone issue. I have 2 Focuses and both hold about the same and from what I've read so far, only a big hardware problem (like phone overheating) could cause so dramatic battery discharge. Also, weak network signal might cause faster drainage, but not at this rate. You can try switching 3G off (lowering to EDGE) and see if it makes any difference.
Hmm.. I even turned off 3G. Let me check again.
If I install any customs WP7 roms , will it make a difference.?
I 'll re check once i get the new batteries..

The dft/miro custom roms offer better battery life, but by a margin, don't expect miracles. Your battery should be able to hold more than a day in your conditions, and I bet that's to blame in your case.
Let us know how it goes with the new battery.
Thanks for your help.
Now, the battery life has increased quite a bit.. getting around 12 hours on a full charge using the same 1650mAh battery . new one is yet to arrive.
Heard 8107 update considerably increases the battery life? but i have ATT uncloked focus in India. If i use ChevronWP7 to unlock it , it gets relocked on zune sync right? I am confused as to "relock" here is whether Carrier relock like I cannot use my local GSM sim here? or developer relock? I am sorry, new to all this

Read my post here. Ignore any flashing, just understand the steps and what's written there (eg: Flashing, downgrading, upgrading firmware etc does not affect Network Unlock).
Basically, after you unlock with WindowsBreak project, you just need to run steps 3 and 4 there.

So quick question:
If I charge my phone slowly, accubattery reports my battery as being ~2700mAh whereas if I do quickcharge, I get an abysmal ~2000mAh. I mean I already bought a new battery, but how much of my original is left?
Any good way to tell exactly how much my phone will hold?

On my case, I installed a new battery then I did a test myself.
By using USB battery capacity test tool, the result is near 3100 mah.
By accuracy battery, the result is 3400 mah.
The result on accuracy battery not change for a month whatever on normal charge or quick charge. So I think the app is pretty accurate minus 300 mah.
So you may keep charging on both methods. Then use the average number to minus 300mah.
(I guess you have 4 hours SOT, right?)
I believe he's referring to actual, physical battery life. How long will it last before it starts to fail and needs replacing.
Maybe.

Well, I also had about 2300 mAh three or four months ago. Now I found out that snapping an HDR+ pic with less than 40% battery will shut off my device (voltage goes below the shutdown threshold from abt. 3.7V) since all cores go at full tilt when processing...
I think Accubattery's reading is good mainly for knowing when to change the battery, i.e. if it says less than 2700 it's time to get a new one. Sadly I can't find one, so I'll have to put up with this until I find someone that sends stuff to my country

I finally bit the bullet and bought an original one via Aliexpress. It cost $6 plus about $5 in shipping. Now to wait a month or more, as usual with aliexpress
My battery is one year 8 months old. Whenever it got down to 30-37% it would automatically shut off, no warning or anything. When I plugged it in it read 30-37% and would start right up. The battery life in general was terrible.
So I would say if your battery is over a year and a half old and your having problems with it you should think about replacing it. No software will overcome a worn out battery.
I bought my battery from ebay and put it in myself. Not as easy as some would make it look but it's doable. What helps get the back of the phone off is a small flathead screwdriver with a very thin tip to get inbetween halves and then twist to seperate.

What battery did you buy? I'm looking in Aliexpress (Stuff gets to my country from there albeit after a month or two) and there are original batteries, and Losoncoer and HSABAT 3650 mAh batteries
