Larger Battery (without larger back plate) - Touch 3G General

Hi Guys
My friend has a touch HD and recently bought a larger battery from ebay (an 1800mah) but its not one of the larger ones which requires a new expanded back plate for the phone. I was wondering if anything like this was available for the Jade, probably around the 15-1600 mah mark?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Jakai

DX have it:

Sorry buddy that looks like the same ones off ebay to me, with the larger back plate (making the phone fat!)
I can't imagine the one I'm looking for being over 1800mah or so, due to size. What I'm really after is a more powerful battery but at the same dimensions as the current one.
Anyone else shed any light? To make it more difficult, ideally located in the UK

That is impossible. To get more power the battery needs to be bigger.

This same shop has a 1300Ma version, looks to be same form-factor

That looks exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. Now just need to find a dealer in UK or something on ebay. Thanks for your help!

Larger Battery
Let us know when you find a source closer to Europe. I am interested too for a Touch Cruise!

I've bought one off of ebay for about £7 with free delivery from hong kong, with free delivery! not too shabby I'll let u know how it performs once its arrived.

Says in the review on that link that it doesnt last as well as the standard one

It was only cheap so I guess we'll see. The sheer fact that its higher capacity would suggest it will last longer.
I'm expecting delivery hopefully this week but probably mid next week.

I bough some 2500 mAh NiMh batteries off ebay, my charger measured the best ones at 500 mAh, some where only 350 mAh. With batteries, stick to known brands if you want the best performance.
As nicodbgh said, its impossible. The chemistry in a Li-Ion battery requires a certain amount of volume per Ah, this is not going to be improved on, not significantly anyway. New chemistry may come along that is better, but it won't be Li-Ion.

Battery arrived on saturday and I've put it in the phone. The battery looks identical to the standard HTC one (even has the same "HTC Innovation" text on the front) except that its 1300mah (opposed to the original 1100mah)
It took longer to charge (abut 6 hours) but its only the first cycle. I'll use it this week and see if I notice any jump in battery life.

Update
And the verdict is:
Absolutely rubbish! It takes much longer to charge than the standard battery and so far I haven't had more than 1.5 days of use out of it, thats maybe 10 minutes of calls and 5-10 texts, few mins of internet. I have push mail and data connection constantly turned on and usually get around 3 days out of the standard 1100mah.
Bit of a dissapointment as I would have liked extra life (an extra day) but it was only cheap and at least now we all know. I speak on behalf of the larger batteries with the extended back plate but my advice is stick with the original battery over the 1300mah one.
Hope this is helpful to others.

This is the problem with "no name" batteries. Perhaps it gets better after a few charging cycles.

Are these really genuine TyTN II batteries?

I'm wanting to get a replacement battery but I don't want to buy a dud. I've noticed a couple of companies selling genuine/orignal batteries and to be fair they do look EXACTLY like the samsunt branded battery that came with my TyTN II. However, on closer inspection, in the top left corner of the pictures the battery doesn't say Samsung. Can't really make out what the brand is.
Anyway, my question is, did anyone get a battery supplied with their TyTN II that was not Samsund branded and looked like the batteries in the following listing?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=170230086920&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=007
Considering it is from a power seller and the price isn't to low, i would go for it.
That's the exact battery in mine. Mine doesn't say Samsung. It says Dynapak on the top. idk that one deff. seems legit.
Cheers guys. You've been a great help
well you better get batteries from an authorized agent - they could cost you your device. the batteries you shown looks OK but you need to be definite so go to agent and ask for them, you may pay slightly more but you could also save yourself a headache
Mine is Samsung, I never heard of dynapack. I wouldent buy it .
if you look at the top left corner, you will see dynapak. its legit, never gave me problems great battery life too.
Dynapak here as well.

My original battery is a DynaPack. SOmewhere on here is a thread where people posted the models of their original batteries. There might have been 3 or more variations.
Both are oem. Either Samsung or Dynapack will be fine. My original battery was Dynapack. The replacement is Samsung. I had my battery replaced because it was less than a year old and losing capacity. The ATT warranty will replace it for free.
Dynapack here also in my Tilt. Model KAIS160, 1350mAh.
Hi
I would like to buy another battery, but I don't know what parameters I have to figures out in the search. Can someone tell me what characteristic the new battery must have? Do you think that buy a battery of more capacity [like 1600 mAh] could be better? I use a lot the wi-fi and it consume a lot of power...
I saw battery of 1600 mAh costing less than 1350 ones.... Are they sh*t?
Thanks
extended battery with door
You can get non-oem standard 1000+mAh for 23 bucks at
http://www.wirester.com/at-t-8925-htc-kaiser-tytn-ii-li-ion-battery.html
You can also get non-oem extended 2400mAh with door for 35 bucks at wirester as well
http://www.wirester.com/att-tilt-8925-htc-tytn-ii-kaiser-li-ion-extended-battery-with-door.html
I got the extended one. haven't used it though.
Thanks for the reply.
If it is possible I will buy a battery without extend the back-door because if the PDA become thicker I will have some problem to fit in the car holder...
But my question is related to the characteristic. In the Italian ebay I saw a lot of 1350 mAh battery that cost from 6 to 40 € and I don't understand the reason...
I don't know, also, if the battery with more than 1350 mAh are useful, because on of my friends had bought a xlarge battery for his PSP and the time of using is reduced compare to the original...
I'm confused... Can you help me? If someone have bought non original battery can tell me the characteristic and his opinion compare to the original one?
Thanks
My first Tilt had a Samsung in it. The rear speaker failed after a month, so i got an entire boxed replacement at the store and it had a Dynapack in it. Havent had a single complaint with the 2nd unit i got with the Dynapack battery. Heck, i think even the battery life is better with the Dynapack than the Samsung one I had first.
Thanks for your advice. I've found some Dynapack in ebay.it and I think I will buy this.
If I will have more info about I will tell you!
Thanks Bye

The battery of the highest mAh that remain of the same size of the original that I found is 1600 mAh...
Bye
there are only a few differences i can see with it vs mine... with that one, it has a DC##etc under the bar code, i have a S/N: ###etc.
The one i had in mine was a Samsung, model KAIS160, rating 3.7VDC, 1350 mAh, 4.2BDC
Of course, i did buy a used device, but i believe it was the OEM battery...

HD2 Replacement Battery

Hi guys im pritty new here so bare with me lol.
Im looking for a larger capacity battery for me HTC HD2 as the one i got standard barely lasts a day which is pathetic, even after i disabled background connections, reduced backlight, turned of auto weather updates, changed rom etc...
so i found on ebay these three different batteries with bigger mah but crucially dont need a new cover on the back, cause i hate the official larger cap battery with kick stand. So i was wondering if anyone had tried any of these or which looks best:
1350Mah-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-1350-mAH-...ries_MobilePhoneBatteries?hash=item5d2882f304
1600Mah-

1500Mah-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1500mAh-Batte...ries_MobilePhoneBatteries?hash=item3a5929d522
Thanks for any help and awesome forum guys
Check the accessories subforum, the battery discussions are there. The 1600mAh battery was measured equal to stock, others seem to be the same as well.
I think there was a much larger one with a swing out foot, I guess so you can watch long movies on it. http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/05/htc-hd2-extended-battery-gets-its-close-up-lower-price/
Basically, even 1600mAh batteries from Andida is near equal in performance to OEM Battery capacity.
There is an extended battery from HTC that has near double the capacity and a kickstand. it makes your phone thicker though.

oh. I ended up reiterating your post...oops. needs to refresh before posting after idle.
OT here, anyway the fourth oem battery I bought off chinese dealers on ebay, all in all equal to original in the exterior, is at its second day of usage (put it in at 100% before going to bed the day before yesterday) and has 43% charge left. Used the phone normally, some manga reading, some browsing, some access to excel/database app, reminders/morning alarms, few calls... all in all, very good for a 3€ battery (costed me 6€ equivalent shipping included to buy a couple of them...)
allright thanks guys cheers for the help, i guess for this money you carnt complain lol
(And il try and post in the right section next time)

Where to buy battery?

Who can be trusted when buying a new battery? I see a bunch on E-Bay but everyone knows the cautions to be taken with cheap aftermarkets?
Anyone with good experiences that can comment?
1600mah or more would be preferred.
Thanks,
TW
Well, I personally chose batteryupgrade.com
The shipment is preety fast, and the quality is quite good.
Even though they say that the transportation costs are zero, expect for the VAT tax when the battery comes into your country.
I bought an extended battery for my Tilt (a 2800 mAh) which is quite uhm double the standard (new back case provided for free alonside the battery) and adding the VAT (24% in my country) I ended paying 3/4 of the price of a 1600 battery here in my country.
It took 8 labour days for the shipment to arrive from Hong Kong to Romania.

If you need a tilt battery I have a brand new one I'll GIVE to you. It seems that everytime I buy a new cellphone battery my phone breaks. It happened with my Sony Ericsson, my Tilt and now my Tilt 2. It really blows.
Anyway, send me a private email. I only have one so first come, first serve. I'll only do this with people in the United States because I don't want to deal with customs. Sorry out of State people.
just purchased a 1600mah "CameronSino" battery from ebay seller "smavstore". awesome battery...ran GPS, audioplayer through bluetooth stereo headset with the screen on for almost an hour during my bike ride to work and only used 13% of my battery! $13.99 u.s.!
Hi, sorry but I ended up fixing my Tilt so I could use tethering since my Tilt2 blows and suddenly stopped working, so I won't be giving the battery away after all.
I just got a 1600 maH from 'Suntek store' on eBay for $1.00 + $5.88 shipping. After a few charges, it's a champ - about a 35-40% improvement over the original 1350. And I'm not feeling a lot of heat!
SBJ
I got my Tilt as a hand-down from my son when he bought a Nexus One for AT&T. He had bought a CameronSino 1600 mAh battery for the Tilt, and told me the battery was flaky ever since it was new. I don't know where he bought it from. The temperature sensor doesn't seem to work, and I can only use the phone for 3-4 hours of very light use. I am no expert, but I suspect the battery is a counterfeit. Maybe other CameronSino batteries are real, so I don't want to say that you should avoid that name. I would just say, be careful where you buy from.
I had a full charge when I left work at 5:00 PM, and now, at 6:20, it reports 35%. Running Windows Mobile 6.5, ROM by Shifu, v4.3.

Larger capacity battery from HTC

Hi,
i read somewhere (French source) that HTC was going to release a larger capacity (rumoured 1450mAH) battery in the next 2 month for the DHD. Can anyone confirm this ?
German HTC have refused to comment on it.
That would be amazing!
Ain't gonna happen, thats my guess.
HTC don't win anything with this and i don't think its even possible because of the fixed alu. housing. They can't make it bigger.
New phones arrive soon, so they not gonna put effort in making a bigger battery.
My 2 cents.
Post a link with that info.
i hope they do come out with that. it should be 1500 mah in the first place
I emailed HTC about a month ago, Nada. But they said they're investigating the battery life
I saw some batteries on Ebay, but I think they are cheap batteries, it can be dangerous...
don't trust the third party batteries, they don't perform well.

I really doubt it. Also, 1450mAh would only be an increase of 18% of capacity. Of course any increase would be nice, but current battery tech coupled with the alu housing just doesn't allow for much higher capacity batteries than stock for the DHD.

I can confirm a new "Replacement Battery for Desire HD" is available, the very same size to fit in the unibody, and it is 1600mAh, you read well. I ordered one about 10 days ago, they tried to deliver it today, but I wasn't home, so I have to go to the Post Office tomorrow.
You can order it from HTCPedia:
http://shop.htcpedia.com/inspire-4g-desire-hd-extended-battery-1600mah.html
But I found it cheaper, here:
http://www.htcrepairparts.com/standard-battery-for-htc-desire-hd1600mah-p-3411.html?language=en
I'll report back about it towards the end of the week.
This is not an htc brand. There is a thread discussing screen issues that was caused by a similar battery expanding after several charges and pressing against the screen. Personally I would stay clear of non branded battery - its not worth the risk.
Htcpedia is not related to htc.

These aren't official HTC batteries and if they are similar to the ones being discussed, endlessly, in the accessories section are inferior to the stock HTC batteries and unlikely to offer any gain in battery life, but please report back but give the batteries at least 7-10 days of normal use before offering any realistic feedback.
Well, you managed to scare me... I thought HTCPedia was serious enough not to sell or advertise garbage.
It cost me less than 20€ (about 28 USD). I'll give it a try around 7-10 days right, but will most probably remove it if I encounter screen issues.
Yep picture looks exactly like the one I got from a UK supplier and has swollen enough to press against the inside of the phone
Did it last longer. Ermm yes and probably about 30% longer but over the two months I have had it performance has dropped below that of the original so personally I have been unsuccessful and will be sticking with the original HTC one
Id buy this but the battery life isnt as bad as it used to be. Its probably got something to do with HTC shipping their batteries uncalibrated or maybe Im just getting used to owning a smartphone
Isn't there a new nano technology available that can store more mAh? Maybe thats what there aiming for? They will profit from it because many would buy an Official battery with mor mAh..
Just do some tweak and it will save ur battery life longer..bigger capacity just giving it more juicer but that is not far different from original. I think just flash to new recommended ROM + Radio to get the best result
Battery lasts nearly 2 days for me with moderate use on standard HTC battery.
You just got to get the phone set up right or go the custom rom route to get even better battery life.

Net yet.. Battery Technology has hit a brick wall at the moment and basically what you have now is the best out there...
However there are some clever stuff happening. There is one which I particularly from last year
http://www.greenmuze.com/climate/energy/2761-mit-nanotube-batteries-.html
However we are still at least 5 years away from this entering the market in my opinion...
Just try and buy an extra battery if you really need more juice

[Q] New Battery

I know this has probably been brought up (the similar threads did not show the question), but i am probably going to need a new battery soon for my HD2 (US).
I am interested in an extended battery, but one that is the OEM size(no new backplate is a must), what is the biggest mAh out there for this? Searching the web and ebay all i could find is this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/2430MAH-HIGH-CA...ccessories&hash=item2eb5fbb4fd#ht_2170wt_1139
Not sure if its just a gimick, or if it will fry my phone, or if its legit....anyone know of that one? Or any others.......I dont mind paying the extra $$$, i plan to keep my HD2 for a long time....
one that works with NAND Android is a must as well......Through my searching the above is the only one i could find that fits my wants/needs.....
thanks for the look
-W.Feather
one thing for sure ... dont purchase of ebay and thats not genuine as the mah is 2 large for the size of the battery id recommend buying a normal hd2 stock battery and keep one with you at all times that way you have 2 batterys,
i purchased apparently a (1600) mah of ebay which lasted same as stock battery and until i got an app called battery monitor widget pro it told me the battery is 1230 mah same as stock battery so unless your paying 30+ for over 2000mah with extended back i wouldnt bother as its a waste
you know i've seen a lot of people complain about ebay but as long as you follow some simple guide lines you should be fine, after all if it dont live up to its description you can return it for a full refund per ebay's rules. a seller must list it correctly or they have the chance to have negative feedback & returns. this is not to say that everyone on ebay sells ligit stuff though.
1st thing you should know is if it sounds to good to be true it "normally" is
2nd you should look at the feedback and see if other buyers have left positive feedback for the item you plan to buy
3rd test it as soon as you get it, especially if its a sd card or other easily faked item
4th & last thing you should know is dont expect 100% positive feedback means you'll get a genuine item. some people on ebay start with small stuff they can use to bump up they're feedback score & then start selling cheap/knock off stuff. this happened to me with a 16gb memory stick which had a memory hack showing it was 16gb but really it was only 7gb. ebay gave me a full refund and banned the seller.
if you follow these simple guide lines you should be ok. about the battery i agree LaneyEFC. i have 3 spare batteries that i keep on hand incase one dies im able to swap it out for a new charged 1. i bought all 3 batteries and a wallcharger off ebay for about $15 and couldn't be happier with my purchase. i had a extended battery with a kickstand that made my phone heavy & clunky. It also made it a little more difficult to text on then without. i hope this helps some.
i think this is the seller that i bought mine from.
I know the too good to be true thing mate thats why i asked to be sure.
As for 2 batteries, the reason i'm looking at a new one is, my current one does not hold a charge long enough(yes i have cleared battery stats and all the other tricks), so i'm looking for a replacement......i figure worst case i buy two OEM ones, but finding a higher mAh one in the OEM size would be optimal because i would rather have longer battery w/o swapping em out if possible

that also depends on the rom you use, i get 9/10 hours out off typhoon cm7 but also using the same rom i get 1 day 3 hours using the thread method in my signature and with MIUI i get 7 hours and get 16 hours using thread in signature hints

ATM using Pongsters CM7 rom, been thinking of swapping to a new one but no time for another week till my Calculus 3 Final is done...some interesting things in that thread, will have to take a look at it in depth later......
so still no "OEM Sized" batteries with higher mAh suggestions?

yea i know its not ideal to have to change the battery out but most days i dont even need to. if i do its just right there on the charger. it really all comes down to how i used my phone that day i guess. what would be ideal though is having a battery that lasted a long time like with my touch pro 2. man i could surf the web for house & it might have only dropped by 10%.
anyway like i said i did have an extended battery (2300mAh) but it did make the phone rather clunky & difficult to text on. i ended up just selling it to purchase the spare batteries instead. now im used to it, i just leave it on the charger & if i happen to need it swap it out real quick, longest part is waiting for the phone to boot up.
I've got the original extended battery I just use it all the time now it is clunky but I can play with my phone as and when I want and only ever need to charge at bed time
I don't mind it now and the kick stand is handy
