Hi All
Hoping to get some clarification on this. Tried searching to no avail.
I have the one plus 5, rooted, running stock ROM and elemental X kernel. Am I able to get WiFi calling on this?
I can't find the setting in 'Sim & Network'.
Any help/comments appreciated.
Thanks

The OnePlus 5 is not enabled for this service on O2 in the UK. Only handsets at the moment enabled are iPhone X, iPhones 8 Plus, 8, 7, 6S, 6S Plus, 6 and SE. Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus, Note 8, S7, S7 Edge and J3 2017. Sony XZ Premium, XZ1, XZ1 Compact. OP 5 should be coming soon.
No, according to O2 here it's only available for iPhone and the Samsung S7 and Sony Xperia XZ. Also for the Android phones mentioned it seems to suggest stock (O2) firmware so not sure if the alternative kernel will cause an issue as and when (if?) the OP5 is supported.
Thanks guys. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
surely with root, xposed and magisk in the mix we could mod it in?
if the phone is made to present itself as a samsung phone, or made to behave as a samsung phone would for the VoLTE and wifi calling, could we circumvent the lack of support for the oneplus 5 ? much like we do with installing custom roms for acquiring the latest android versions?

Doubtful, as the Android device, at the moment, needs to be running O2 firmware.
Hi, I've seen reports that Wifi Calling and Voice Over 4g works in the Oreo Beta on O2 in the UK. As long as you've activated 4g calling and Voice Over Wifi in your account the options to active it then become available in setting on the phone on the Oreo Beta apparently.
My phone just updated to Android 8.1 and now voice over 4g and voice over wi-fi are now available in settings and I have them enabled working.

Hi,
I have a Note 4 supplied on O2 but that I have flashed with the latest unbranded UK STOCK Lollipop ROM via ODIN. What I was hoping to be able to do is to flash my device with the latest EE Note 4 ROM (when it's released) so that I can use the new WiFi calling/SMS feature they offer.
Does this plan sound do-able? I assume it ought to work but wondered if there was any other way to take advantage of their WiFi calling in the meantime, short of Buying a S6 or the Nokia that they have announced to have support baked in. I also read that the EE S5 also works with WiFi calling?!
Thanks for any thoughts anyone may have.
Dan.
Has the LG V20 US996 received any official OS-security updates, what about carrier models?
Can or can not Wi-Fi calling be enabled on the unlocked LG V20 US996 while the T-Mobile variant H918 Wi-Fi calling would be there by default & could be unlocked for use on other carriers?
Both http://www.lg.com/us/cell-phones/lg-US996-Unlocked-v20-titan & http://www.lg.com/us/cell-phones/lg-H918-Titan-v20 list Wi-Fi calling with uncertain fine print..
" Wi-Fi Calling** Use Wi-Fi to improve voice and data coverage
** Wireless service required. Product features subject to change. Features based on carrier program availability. Additional charges may apply. "
- Thanks for clarifying this with some real life experience
Bump, I would like to know about the Wifi calling as well.
I have yet to get it working on my unlocked H910 (T Mobile carrier).
Wifi calling and VoLTE features are controlled by the carrier and they will not enable these features on non-carrier devices. I'm assuming it's done this way to encourage people to buy their carrier locked versions.

Did T-mobile sell a T-mobile branded 6P? I imagine they'd only disallow these features if they had a carrier locked version to sell of their own.
Thanks BTW

I don't know about Wifi calling, but here is the latest from LG as of yesterday,
-----------------------
This is a staff of LG Product Security Response Team(LG PSRT)
As you know, the latest patch was released at the last December.
Unfortunately, there is no further schedule for V20 (US996), but our dedicated team is still discussing about next patch schedule.
-----------------------
LG's support for this phone has been horrible, Google's monthly security updates totally ignored.
I am shopping now for another brand that will update unlocked phones.
I like the features of the V20, but I am done waiting for LG to support it.
I'm running version 10h of the OS on my US996 which is on the April 1st Android security patch. I'm not sure if this update, or the previous ones, were offered via OTA. The images just kinda seem to pop up occasionally. See https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-us996-firmwares/ for the list. They seem to be making some updates, I'm just not sure where they're formally releasing them...

I remember checking out the original Nexus 6 in a T-Mobile Store but it lost out when I compared it to the Samsung Note 4 which I bought instead. I think Google sold the Nexus 6P unlocked online only rather than at T-Mobile but Wi-Fi calling is supposed to be built into Android so perhaps when inserting a T-Mobile SIM it should become available when enabled in settings?
I also have an unlocked Moto X Pure that I could test but there were some issues with a prior update that I avoided installing but perhaps that's been worked out now that it should have Android 7. I'll look into that but anyone here has the LG V20 US996 or the T-Mobile variant H918 with Wi-Fi calling working?

Unlocked phones which get updated best would be Nexus'-Pixels, my Nexus 6P always gets the latest possible updates.. currently latest stable Build number N2G48B on 7.1.2 security patch level July 5, 2017 with the option for the Android 8 O Beta program.
December Why are some people reporting updates in 2017? How worried are people about older Android security patch levels or are they mainly annoyed about not getting the latest Android builds?

AT&T refused to enable Wi-Fi calling for me because the device isn't "certified". I'm pretty sure the phone is perfectly capable of supporting Wi-Fi calling, the carrier just refuses to enable it. Unfortunate :/

I extract the updated partitions from those update files and flash them via TWRP. You could of course use LG UP (I think) to flash the KDZ, which is a the method used to recover a bricked device, but takes it factory resets. I've run 10f and 10h from that site with no issues on AT&T.

The AT&T store is where I went to check out their carrier model of the LG V20 because they are closest. T-Mobile network is actually best of all where I'm most often so I use their SIM. T-Mobile I've heard tends to be more relaxed than AT&T about enabling Wi-Fi calling in general but can anyone confirm this &/or anyone with the T-Mobile or AT&T carrier model or US996 confirm Wi-Fi calling ?

Good job but how long does all that take? Android really is so fragmented..are OTA updates really that difficult to push out like my Nexus 6P gets..why doesn't Google better address all the fragmentation-mess out there?

I can do without the latest Android version, but I do want Android monthly security updates.
I've had Nexus phones in the past and will look at the Pixels, or maybe wait for the new Pixel XL.
The Moto Z unlocked has gotten routine security updates, so I'm also looking at one of those or the newer Z2.
Headlines this morning about LG leaking a V30, just make me sad. A nice shiney new LG that will never get a security update.

Well, you could always use the poor man's wifi calling - Telegram - it works great and you can call anyone in the world for free! (as long as they also have Telegram installed)
The calls are really clear, just like a regular mobile call, and did I mention this is FREE

So you used the US Cellular Rom. Did it have any bloat? Did you get FM radio?
so i'm assuming my VS995 (verizon) variant phone won't be able to use WIFI calling since i'm currently on a T-Mobile plan ?

So far I haven't seen the kdz files on lg-firmwares website contain anything US Cellular specific, even though some of them appear to be indicated for the US Cellular model. There's no carrier bloat (minus LG's) but the FM radio is still not available.
Wow, I'm really embarrassed for LG! One would assume they would update the Unlocked version of the V20 MORE ..because they don't have carriers which have to approve the update. This is Pathetic!!!!

What's LG's excuse? Will the US996 or any V20 ever officially get Android 8/O?
I notice in my new US996 a 637.05 MB update Version US99610f mentioned at https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70431731&postcount=2 , any reason not to update it?
Regarding this thread's subject: I did notice my T-mobile Wi-Fi calling was enabled in QuickShortcutMaker but when I turn on Airplane mode then only Wi-Fi I can't receive calls but if I turn off Airplane mode then only Wi-Fi on (i.e. Mobile data is off in Networks) calls go through so I'll have to test over Wi-Fi where I get no T-Mobile signal but my Nexus 6P does get calls over Wi-Fi in airplane mode with only Wi-Fi enabled..
Also the V20's Wi-Fi hotspot works on my Windows 10 PC only with WPA PSK security but when I try WPA2 PSK my PC says the PIN is wrong while another Android phone can connect with WPA2 without issues (Nexus 6P Wi-Fi hotspot with WPA2 security worked with the same PC)..
Security updates are needed like a fire hose is needed and not providing them puts LG at risk of Class Action Lawsuits if "something" happens IMO based on personal experience working with an expert witness over the years. Not having the updates known creates a target to go after.
Ok, I read that official support for the Axon 7 on Verizon's network is a no go. I've got one that I had active on VZW last year when I had to return my Note 7, but I just couldn't deal with the foibles (like constant roaming icon, and occasional LTE signal loss).
Question: if I want to use it again, what is recommended as far as rom, settings, tweaks, etc...to make it as trouble free as possible. My son is using it now on T-Mobile, but I want to move him over to our Verizon plan now that they offer unlimited again.
What are you using?
Any help is appreciated.
If you flash any custom room that is not based on stock miui, it will perfectly on Verizon, I myself use it on Verizon and as long as you change the room of the device it will run well on Verizon as it was a regular Verizon phone

Nougat fixed many of the Verizon issues, and even included Verizon VoLTE support. I've had no issues with Verizon on LOS, seen others use stock fine as well.
Verizon fully working on stock? In call web browsing, VoLte and LTE+?

hey there sorry to bother you and I know this is an old thread but I need some direction here. I'm currently using L.o.s RR on the A2017U 64gb cause I was under the impression that it was the only way to get Verizon fully working. Maybe I missed understood you but did you say any nougat stock rom will also allow me to use Verizon fully? And if so can you point me to a good one? My phone is sluggish as hell right now with RR I'm using and I think I rather go back to stock. Not to mention I'm missing the great audio I had lol. Not worth it in my opinion. Thanks in advance.
Hi folks,
Considering getting a 6T off the OnePlus site.
For those that got the devices early:
-Do you have experiences on AT&T Network to comment on how compatible it is? I've had some devices use to work well on ATT now not so good due to band migration; just curious to hear how the 6Ts fare.
-Please confirm: both SIM and BootLoader unlocks can be done immediately when purchasing from the OnePlus site (as opposed to the T-Mobile edition that's locked)
-Are there band/frequency differences between the T-Mo and ATT Versions? I'm on ATT but usually have bought "T-Mo" versions of devices because they were less likely to be BL locked; but my last phone (OP3T) broke me out of that cycle.
Any other AT&T-relevant experiences would be appreciated.
Interested in this as well.
I would like to know as well. It's kinda looking like we will have to test it out ourselves.
I am on AT&T with the 6t. I've only had mine for a week but have had no issues with anything network related. I came from a 3T and have better service with my 6T. There were 2 dead spots on my drive to / from work with the 3T that I no longer have with the 6T. I haven't had a chance to root or unlock mine yet due to being busy at work but so far I am happy. I loved the 3T but don't miss it a bit.
I have a 6t that I bought directly from OP that I use as my daily phone on Cricket, which uses AT&T towers. I have no signal problems, and download speeds are great. Anywhere I expect to have LTE I have it.
Phone is by far my favorite device I've had. Easy to unlock, install TWRP and flash kernels, and install mods through magisk!
I've bought my phone but don't get to open it until Christmas. It should arrive in a day or two. [emoji1360][emoji1360]

What did you do to get volte? Was your previous phone an att branded device? I came from an unlocked S8 that didn't get volte and I can't get volte on my 6T. Prior to my S8 I had the 6P which also didn't get volte.
I suggest reading this thread, https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/help/att-verizon-volte-vowifi-calling-t3860031. There's information on how to enable VoLTE settings on the phone. Most of the stuff in that thread pertains to Verizon, but some AT&T stuff too. Ultimately it's up to AT&T to provision your service properly. VoLTE is available. VoWiFi is not. Took me a couple of days & a couple of hours on the phone with AT&T support to get my line provisioned properly because the IMEI wasn't recognized. But that was only days after the phone was released. Would think that shouldn't be a problem now.
Once you get VoLTE working Visual Voicemail should work, but you need to use the AT&T app. However, for me it isn't always automatically retrieving VMs when I get them. My notifications will show I have a VM but I have to open the AT&T VVM app, go into the menu and Refresh. Only then does it pull the VM into the app.
This should be interesting. On my 3T I have ATT visual voicemail working, and it mostly works for transcribing messages (except long ones like my wife leaves...) But I don't think the phone is volte capable so I've never tried setting that up. I don't get to play we the phone til Xmas though!

Yeah. I came from using a 5yo AT&T branded HTC One M7 and VVM worked fine on that. When I first got the 6T (unlocked int'l version) & popped in my sim, I had VoLTE but I couldn't get the VVM app to activate. That's what prompted my call to AT&T support. That's when they told me VoLTE was needed for VVM. I'm not entirely sure how accurate that statement is. The rep tried a bunch of stuff to get it working, including updating my line with the IMEI from the 6T. That's when things went bad. I lost all data completely. Actually, if I switched APNs, I could get 3G data. But it took two days before AT&T sorted it out and I got LTE back. Since then everything pertaining to AT&T service has been fine. I've never found the need for VoWiFi, although it would be cool to have, if necessary. And I wish their Advanced Messaging feature wasn't so limited.

On att rn. Have been since the op2. No issues at all ? first thing I do is unlock bootloader
I got my 6T (Int'L) on or about Nov. 23, which I had purchased from OT - I am using it on a Family mobile plan which uses T-Mobile towers. VoLTE was not a part of my original service plan..but because I needed a New Nano-SIZED sim card for this phone, adding it to my account wasn't as straight forward as it normally is. Once I switch my number to the new sim card, I got an email saying if I wanted VoLTE/VoWiFi(?) features turned on - I'd have to go to another website (Cricket/Verizon/ AT&T?) to register my new sim card and this would "turn on" the VoLTE features. After all this I get a Bright "VoLTE" Icon on the status bar whever i get my LTE signals - So it is VoLTE capable. Perhaps AT&T is doing something similar to get your VoLTE activated?
My plan is to do some testing next week for basic stuff before transferring my flag from my 3T. Will report back how it goes. Appreciate any other Insights from other users!

Fired mine up yesterday when I got it. Got it all set up, then swapped out the SIM from
my Mate 9, to the OP6T this morning. Apparently the "speed" issues I had with the 9
are corrected with the 6T. I use a Straight Talk MVNO (tracfone) at&t card. Previously,
I was LUCKY to get between 9-10 meg down, 1-2 up. Now I'm getting 33 meg down, 15 up.
Guess the newer phone has a better modem, or the extra frequencies to work more proper
with the newer device.
So far, no issues, working good.
After my experience with the OnePlus One, I was still a little cautious about buying something
from them again, but, on the surface so far it appears they might have their act together.
Stay tuned.
I came from a OP3 been using the 6T with ATT prepaid for the past month and it works great. Far superior in speeds to the OP3. For example at my house I was getting download speeds of about 30mbps on my OP3 on the 6T I got over 90mbps LTE+ at home! I keep pissing off my buddy who just got the brand new iPhone XS on ATT and he is getting half the DL speeds that I am when comparing speed tests :victory:. Don't think VoLTE works on prepaid but I have yet to try to enable it. About to go to nebraska for vacation to test service out there.
Bootloader is very easy to unlock. Did it the second day of having the phone following the Official XDA employees youtube video.
is the T-Mobile modem better than the international?
I've been holding off on buying , I saw somewhere a few of you bought both models and we're going to follow up. But I haven't seen any posts yet on if there's any real difference on the modems and signal quality, Volte or VoWifi etc.
My Carrier is T-Mobile, and I've had some weird issues with my current OP3t on wifi calling and volte. And flashing stock or non stock ROMs seem to have no affect on those issues. Verified apn settings as well.
And doesn't seem to be limited to just the 3t. My coworker has the OP6 and has the same issues.
My other unlocked phones moto x4 & Moto g5s+ work great with both of those features.
So I'm hoping the 6t will work correctly but I would prefer to get the international version but if the TMobile version is more reliable on those settings then I might opt for that instead.
Thanks for any insight!

Unfortunately I never saw any updates on the threads I was following where someone bought both.
I ended up just buying the international version. I'm happy with it.
But I still have issues with MMS not working over the wifi calling when there is no cell signal. This apparently also affects the TMobile version so the issue looks like something one plus needs to fix. And not related to the modem. None of my other non 1+ phones have any trouble sending MMS over WiFi.
SMS works fine on wifi. As does Calling. It's strictly MMS that doesn't work.
So shouldn't matter which version you buy. Cellular looks to be the same on both.
