[Q] EE Wifi calling on Note 4 910F in UK - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a Note 4 supplied on O2 but that I have flashed with the latest unbranded UK STOCK Lollipop ROM via ODIN. What I was hoping to be able to do is to flash my device with the latest EE Note 4 ROM (when it's released) so that I can use the new WiFi calling/SMS feature they offer.
Does this plan sound do-able? I assume it ought to work but wondered if there was any other way to take advantage of their WiFi calling in the meantime, short of Buying a S6 or the Nokia that they have announced to have support baked in. I also read that the EE S5 also works with WiFi calling?!
Thanks for any thoughts anyone may have.
Dan.

[Q] Verizon 4G: can I use only wi-fi in Canada?

Hello,
I'm thinking of buying a Galaxy Tab 10.1 wi-fi 4G (with Verizon) 32GO.
The question I can't find answer for nowhere is this:
The 4G is set with Verizon, witch is in United States. I live in Canada. Is it possible to use that tablet only on wi-fi from Canada without an account to verizon?
If so, can I later decide to change from verizon to choose a local provider to use 4g?
Thanks a lot!

Yes the Verizon tab can be used without an active SIM card as basically just a wifi device, HOWEVER there's a couple of issues you should be aware of.
1. If you're looking to apply custom ROMs to the device from this community know that of the various versions of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 the Verizon model is the least supported.
2. Most importantly be sure that the broadband network you're intending to use the device on ultimately is actually compatible with the device. I don't believe the Verizon tab is intended to be a full fledged international device but I could be wrong. It's possible that Verizon is the only network that the Verizon version of the GT 10.1 is compatible with.
If it were me and the decision to go with a mobile broadband plan is several months away I'd go with a used wifi only GT 10.1 for now and then put it up for sale again later to buy a tablet with mobile data plan on contract or used.
Thanks for your respond!
I think I'll do as suggested, but only a wi-fi one for now... And see later!
Now.... you are talking about ROMs... I'll have to learn about that! I don't know what it means!

S5 Duos (G900FD) - OK to use in the UK?

I live in the UK and am hoping to buy an S5 Duos to use on Vodafone 3G/4G. Has anyone used this phone in the UK and can confirm that both SIM's will work fine here?
Also, I've seen Lollipop is available for the duos via Sammobile but there's no UK or USA version. Can anyone confirm that one of the Lollipop firmwares has English as an installed language?
Anyone? There must someone using this phone in the UK? :good:
can confirm ok
Hello I just got my middle eastern s5 duos off eBay for about £300.00. I have an ee broadband 4G in sim slot 1 and a three sim in sim slot 2. It originally came with kit kat and I was informed of an update to lollipop tho it did mentire I would loose about 970 mb of sforage space. Works like a charm and the fd version is comparable with all 4G UK signals too. Also yes it's got English language too. Only thing to note is Samsung will probably not honour the warranty as it's meant for the use not uk

[Q] Note 3 N9005 EE firmware or variant of Lollipop 5+ for WifiCalling

Whilst EE have stated that the Note 3 and Note 4 flagship models, purchased from them, will receive the stock EE firmware to allow wificalling, just wondered if anyone/dev has had a chance to make/cook one from a different variant of the firmware that allows wificalling.
EE seem to mysteriously dropped there sales of the only other smartphone/handset that *was going to be sold by them* for a harrier ee smartphone, which has wificalling! Said handset being the lumia 640 range.
No other handsets/smartphones work and it seems that EE have forgotten just how many Note 3's and Note 4's have been sold in the UK, that will use wificalling if it is released as an official firmware by EE.
Can anyone shed some light / help with maybe cooking up a rom to make it work with the stock lollipop 5 from ee and some other bits n bobs from a rom that has the extra code that allows wificalling to actually work?
Got it working on iphone6 and it makes the old version of uma voice [orange voice over wifi] very crackly compared to wificalling protocol!
bits out of s5/s6/s6e with note 3 rom?

Just to add, if anyone can shed some light on it, would some of the bits n bobs in the s5/s6/s6e firmware via the xml that allows the wificalling be able to be cooked/added into a rom for the note 3 on ee maybe?

Wifi Calling - O2 in UK

Hi All
Hoping to get some clarification on this. Tried searching to no avail.
I have the one plus 5, rooted, running stock ROM and elemental X kernel. Am I able to get WiFi calling on this?
I can't find the setting in 'Sim & Network'.
Any help/comments appreciated.
Thanks

The OnePlus 5 is not enabled for this service on O2 in the UK. Only handsets at the moment enabled are iPhone X, iPhones 8 Plus, 8, 7, 6S, 6S Plus, 6 and SE. Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus, Note 8, S7, S7 Edge and J3 2017. Sony XZ Premium, XZ1, XZ1 Compact. OP 5 should be coming soon.
No, according to O2 here it's only available for iPhone and the Samsung S7 and Sony Xperia XZ. Also for the Android phones mentioned it seems to suggest stock (O2) firmware so not sure if the alternative kernel will cause an issue as and when (if?) the OP5 is supported.
Thanks guys. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
surely with root, xposed and magisk in the mix we could mod it in?
if the phone is made to present itself as a samsung phone, or made to behave as a samsung phone would for the VoLTE and wifi calling, could we circumvent the lack of support for the oneplus 5 ? much like we do with installing custom roms for acquiring the latest android versions?

Doubtful, as the Android device, at the moment, needs to be running O2 firmware.
Hi, I've seen reports that Wifi Calling and Voice Over 4g works in the Oreo Beta on O2 in the UK. As long as you've activated 4g calling and Voice Over Wifi in your account the options to active it then become available in setting on the phone on the Oreo Beta apparently.
My phone just updated to Android 8.1 and now voice over 4g and voice over wi-fi are now available in settings and I have them enabled working.

Upgrade Samsung T510 to T515

The wife want the table to be able to use a sim-card, but we only have the Wifi edition of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2019).
I have been researching a possible upgrade, and to my findings I can understand that the only difference between the T510 and T515 version is the LTE modem.
I wonder if it is possible to buy a replacement sim card holder, and maybe flash some firmware to T515..
Would this work, or is there some issues with a LTE modem.. When searching for replacement main-boards it looks like they are interchangeable between T510/T515.
So could this potential work, to upgrade the tablet to LTE?
