I cannot seem to make any configuration of V4A and Magisk to work. I've tried different versions of module and app and can't figure it out.
I finally got mine to work after flashing the attached file and then running the script from this post:

Can you detail what beta version of magisk you are using and how you got there?
My magisk was working on latest beta up until the last version just posted.
Installing that latest beta broke everything for me, and now even a fresh install of 5 past beta's does not result in working magisk for me. (Mainly no root activation..).
Can you offer any advice?

Hey shaeer I would love to test your rom and help out cheers Reuben
I am running the new bootloader from the the lollipop update so I would like to help to.
Alright, so if I am not mistaken to install these new lollipop custom roms, users need to have already installed stock lollipop? Am I correct?
I am asking so that I may add this to the OP because I can not test this myself as I don't have the tablet.
PS: Beta 1 will have basic small things that I will need to test such first such as root, as I would not like to move forward with bigger things until I tackle the bigger things such as Aroma and debloating.

I can confirm you need lollipop bootloader. Can do this by flashing stock firmware through odin, re rooting then can flash new rom on twrp
Uploading Beta 1 right now. Fingers crossed that it flashes and boots up
Things to check for:
-See if it flashes
-Check for root (See if a root app works)
-Check for working Wi-Fi
-Check for Google Play Store downloading/updating apps
Please let me know of any errors
Beta 1 link added to OP.

Running now. Boots fine. Wi-Fi works. No errors on play store after installing couple things. But supersu isn't working. Doesn't come up with promt screen. Same problem as ironrom
Shaheer, heres the fix for root problems. Its something with the superuser app not responding. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=59730789
More of a workaround than an actual fix

Thanks for the info dude! I'm integrating into the next beta and hoping it works. (Beta 3 that is)
PS: Beta 2 is upcoming with a slightly different fix for root. It may or may not work (May not even flash properly lets see)
ETA for beta 2: Uploading ~15-20mins remaining
I had found a strange thing I flashed the rom with gapps then flashed Super Su and set up my tab as normal. I then opened SuperSu which seemed normal, tested T-backup which showed I had root then I used root checker which said I didn't. Look forward to testing beta 2

Wow, that's something you got there. So T-Backup is showing root is fine but root check isn't
UPDATE: Beta 2 is uploaded and link is added to the OP.
Beta 2 What to look for:
Check to make sure it flashes properly
Check for root
Check for working wi-fi
Any issues, please report
So at the same time beta 3 is out as well. It has implemented @DUHAsianSKILLZ fix for root in it. I hope it flashes alright
Same things to check for as in beta 2

Awesome!!! If you don't mind, just to confirm if clean flashing beta 2 does the same result, could you please try clean flashing it as well? I'd really appreciate that

Ok, clean flashed went well exactly the same as a dirty flash, root and wifi working just fine.

Ok I will skip beta 3 and wait for beta 4 as root is working fine.
I didn't see this posted here so FYI: As announced here, there are currently some issues with SuperSU 2.80 and 2.81 that are being worked on and Chainfire has recommended staying with SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SR3-20170114223742.zip for now while he works the issues out.
If you have already flashed 2.80 or 2.81 and lost root it is safe to flash back to SR3-SuperSU-v2.79 using TWRP (according to the thread and it worked fine for me). Hopefully this prevents some from flashing a few different versions trying to get root working again.

Interesting, I'll look through the treads. Thanks for the infos!
Switching from SuperSU to Magisk is pretty easy. I've done it on my N5, N6 & N10.
BACK UP FIRST. Did I need to say that...?
Unroot with Osmosis' Unsu.zip, make sure that you have the original boot image, which in case of doubt you can extract from your ROM and flash (or your preferred kernel - see edit below), then flash Magisk and install the Magisk Manager apk. Note: you must flash Magisk after the boot/kernel, as it does a similar unpack/tweak/repack/install to SuperSU's processing. If you flash the boot/kernel after, you'll lose root.
Just to add to the fun, there are two versions - the stable v12/Manager 4 and a project v13/Manager 5. My N5 & N6 work fine on v12. I couldn't get v12 to work on my N10, but v13 runs perfectly and all three devices pass Safetynet.
I guess you're here because you like tinkering. Magisk is well worth the fun...
Edit: All three devices are on Pure Nexus. The N10 has the stock kernel, and the others have ElementalX. You should be able to use your preferred kernel.
If you do decide to install Magisk, at first sight you may think you haven't achieved root - until you realise (as I did, duh) that you need to check Settings/Magisk Hide.
Once it's up and running, it works as well as SuperSU.
And why did I switch? Only possibly groundless worries about the change of ownership from Chainfire to a company.
I switched to Magisk because of the analytics fiasco, brought about because of inadequate communication from CCMT. As I noted in a now-deleted post, while the analytics may seem a trivial reason to switch, I believe the gatekeeper to the system root must be incorruptible to remain trustworthy. Had CCMT been honest about the analytics in the first place, I might not have switched.

I agree. That's what I did. I switched from SuperSu to Magisk and it's working fine on Stock 7.1.1.

You are so on point.
I switched from SuperSu to Magisk. Was a little hesitant to do so at first because I've been used to using SuperSu and Magisk was unchartered territory for me. But I decided to make the change and I'm glad I did. Magisk is working very well on my Shamu running Stock 7.1.1. I've installed a few modules, including Viper4Android and wow, what a big difference in sound quality (although those front firing speakers are very good in and of themselves, Viper4Android does indeed make a difference).
All in all, I'm happy to have Magisk installed on my Nexus 6.
Btw, I wasn't too thrilled the way the whole thing went down with SuperSu and CCMT. Not really trusting of that app anymore. To each his own, but I'll stick with Magisk.
For some reason Magisk is gone from play store.

I moved to magisk, too, thanks for recommendation. I would not even know about magisk that I have not read about it the last days. It seems a much better alternative, I doubt that I will not go back to SuperSU at this situation with CCMT etc. I'm upset with the last supersu's updates, I see, they do not want to do anything that would solve problem as soon as possible. What's the phh's superuser (I guess it's better to stay on magisk for now.)? I have never tried it. [emoji106] [emoji482] [emoji122]
Forgot, use PureNexus, all stock. [emoji122]

It's another open source root solution. MagiskSU is based on phh's superuser which in turn is based on koush's superuser.
Hi. is there any basic step by step guides for getting f the latest also extended ROM on my stock oneplus 3t.
Use to do it may y years ago and have lost / forgot everything lol. Also wondered if possible is it able to be rooted and still have access to banking apps using that ROM.
Cheers and apologies in advance
Best guide I've found
https://www.xda-developers.com/unlock-twrp-and-root-the-oneplus-3/
Used this earlier this evening. Simplest guide I've found and works fine for op3t, even though it's written for op3. Also replaced supersu with magisk zip with no difficulties.
Thanks for that. I will look at it tomorrow and attempt it. Did you replace SuperSU during the rooting or after? Read a few ways to do it so just wondered. Is it true that magisk is the way to get android pay and back king aps to still function with root?
Cheers

Didn't flash SuperSU at all. Tried installing magisk at the same time as new rom (vertex - recommended!), but ended up having to uninstall then reinstall later. Magisk v12 wasn't passing safetynet for me, but the Beta v13 magisk seems to be doing the trick for now.
Hi,
I installed Magisk 20 on the 10 open beta using payload_dumper and patched the boot.img and everything worked like a charm, except for poor battery life.
Therefore I updated to stable 10, and everything works great unrooted including battery life, but when I do the steps mentioned above and install Magisk (tried on 20 and on the newest 20.1 I think) wifi stops working completely and there is no sound coming from the speakers. I have tried with and without my modules enabled, and I have tried going back to stock 10 and redoing the process to no avail.
Any ideas? This is my first post but I haven't found any posts about these issues when searching. Thank you!

Looks like a kernel problem.
I am on a10 with latest twrp and Magisk 20.1 and all works just fine.
If you installed a10 with old twrp try the latest and dirty install again. Then try to root again.
Sorry

I updated using local upgrade and then patched the boot.img with Magisk extracted from the payload.bin of the Android 10 stable OTA, so I didn't use TWRP. But I will try doing it like you described, thanks!

I know this isn't exactly helpful but I fixed this issue by flashing a custom kernel, might be useful if the other method here doesn't work for you
I had this too, fixed by a factory reset in stock recovery (without wiping user data)
Have a backup of important things evidently

Just curious, I'm on the fajita version of aosp extended and I cannot turn wifi on. When I touch the slider to activate WiFi it waits for several seconds like it's trying to connect and then slider goes back to off.
Would a custom kernel resolve this? If so, which kernel do you suggest?

I only tested it with the Omega Kernel but others should work too. Pick whatever Kernel support custom ROMs and see if it works.
Yes it should work as that's the exact problem I had (Omega doesn't support custom ROMs but like I said any Kernel should work)
Ok thank you. I think ill try smurf kernel. That's what I was using with omni.
I will try to do it over the weekend when I'm home
Edit: I went ahead and flashed smurf kernel just now. It worked flawlessly!
I now have WiFi! Thank you for the advice.

Read the post again. Pretty sure the last update only supports Android 9. My guess is that you've updated to 10.3.4 or 10.3.5
