So I just updated my phone to 7.0 via flashfire using this method:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/guide-easy-to-update-rooted-phone-t3342896
Everything appeared to have gone smoothly, besides my contacts app crashing every time and only when I go into the details of any of my contacts.
Creating a new contact is fine, until I save it and the details appear, then it crashes.
I already wiped data and cache from contacts app and went to twrp and wiped dalvik and cache, didn't help though.
I dont know if related, but my phone doesn't have a csc folder anymore. *#1234# doesn't work at all.
Any way someone can help me?

Ok for almost a week now I have been unable to download anything from the Market. The downloads start and nothing every happens, they never download. Everything else on my tablet works fine. I have tried everything:
1. Flashed multiple roms, even rooted stock rom, cleared formatted everything, same problem.
2. Flashed multiple kernals including stock
3. Cleared market and download caches
4. Tried replacing with different market versions.
5. Deleted all files on internal sd
Nothing. I am going crazy. Could there be a file on my internal SD that maintains it self after a reflash (doesnt get formatted?). Anyways I am desperate and need any advice you can give me.
Thanks!
You probably already did this but on the off chance. In CWM clear cache and then goto advanced and clear Delvic cache.
yes I have done all of that.
i have the same problem, the way I fix it is to go out of the market, then start it up again, and try to download it again. This sometimes takes 3 or 4 tries. I try it on both the native market app as the website. No id why it happens, I am running 3.2 stock rooted.
Go to the android market on your computer.
https://market.android.com/
Find the app you want.
You put in your google account info and it will ask which device you want to install it on.
Click Iconia A500 and in a few minutes it will download to that device.
I had one that would not download and did it that way.
Did you try this by any chance?

TL;DR
Remove your google account and re-sync it
Try going to....
Settings, accounts & sync, click your gmail account, then on the top right of your screen it says "remove account", click that.
Go to the market, resign in with your gmail and password.
Worked for me... hope it works for you.
My wife hates XDA
Hi all, I changed the levels automatic brightness adjustments, then a call occurred and I aswered. When I closed the call, my defy+ rebooted immediately (no messages appeared) and then went in a bootloop: cyano glowing logo, then a single red LED flash, then it repeats.
Tried to clear dalvik cache, with no luck.
Is there a way to recover easily? Unfortunately I have no backups but want to keep contacts and application data. Not interested in keeping SMS's or photos.
Thank you
Contacts are usually stored with gmail account. I don't know about the app data though.

tried to wipe cache, dalvik cache, then install latest CM10 but ended up with the very same problem.
Should I only go RSD?

Make a backup of your /data in custom recovery, then wipe your /data partition (and cache/dalvik if you want), then reboot.
This will most likely get it to boot up again, then you can use Titanium Backup to restore your apps and app data. Do not restore your complete backup, because it most likely got corrupted, and do not restore System apps either.
You can restore SMS, by restoring Phone/Messaging Storage, and to restore Call Logs/Contacts, restore Contacts Storage. You might want to check the "Migrate System Data" checkbox in Preferences if it doesn't work at first.
Thank you, but I've already gone RSD. Good to know anyway. tnx

Sorry we couldn't find a solution in time.
For me, it's not that important; I full wipe at every sign of a bootloop. With the Desire I used to wipe all, including /system!
As long as you have a google account, you can reinstall the ROM and add your Google account at the beginning. That restores your previous setup of applications and appdata. Contacts are automatically synced and added to People.

[Q] Phone app crashes upon launch with "Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped." (CyMod)
Device info: Samsung Galaxy S4
Carrier: Sprint
Firmware: 4.2.2
Cyanogenmod Build: 10.1-20130709 (Tuesday July 9)
Whenever I launch the Phone application, I receive the error:
Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped.

I've reinstalled CyanogenMod and the GApps ROM to no avail. Cleared the regular cache and Dalvik cache and the Contacts app and Contacts Storage caches. Nothing.
I'd like to be able to uninstall the GApps rom and try installing it regularly but I'm not sure how.
I can still receive calls and make calls from the "People" app, but the Phone app doesn't load. It doesn't even show a dialer. It just hangs for a second and loads the error.
I'll reset to factory if I have to, but how would I preserve a backup of my stuff without preserving whatever data is causing this error? Would I use Titanium or the ClockworkMod backup utility, and what would I do?
Thanks to anyone who can help.
Titanium backup will work. Don't try to restore any system data unless it is highlighted in the green font. If you try to restore system data from one rom to another you will see problems like you do now.

I had this issue with my Moto Photon. I found out after I rooted it and deleted the Yahoo contacts apk I received the error message. I don't have the S4 yet but maybe that is why your getting the FC? If you didn't delete any apk's then disregard.

Hello guys,
I don't know whats going on but suddenly my contact names are all gone.
Instead I only see the numbers when calling/getting a call, in Call Log, Stock SMS/Hangouts app and so on!
In Contacts the names are just fine... tried to clear data of the apps, resyncing Google Acc and what not...
I also had a backup to restore but it didnt help much... don't feel like doing a factory reset for now since I got so much stuff set up on my phone
And I can't remember anything I did to mess this up, it just happend
Any help appreciated
EDIT: Problem solved; Somehow if this strange stuff happens, go to recovery and clear cache & dalvik. Then reboot to system again, voila!
If this doesn't help, try to remove Google account and relog again after clearing cache and dalvik.
Other than re-sync your Google account, do you have try to delet the account, reboot and login back to your account ?
Edit, it can't be linked to your Google account.
What is your ROM ?
If you are on a custom ROM, try to wipe System (only system) and re-flash the ROM.
Hello,
I'm trying to fix a problem for a few days now, but without any luck.
I flashed CM11 using CWM 6.0.4.7, which is the latest.
But for some reason there is a problem with the date & time. My whatsapp keeps telling me my date was wrong, while it was actually set right. Didn't matter if i changed it and changed it back, or put it on automatic. It keeps resetting at boot but for some reason it shows the right date.
So i tried flashing another rom and i have the same problem.
But then i found out i did a full wipe and to be sure i formatted System and Data (also cache and dalvik), but when i did a clean install after the wiping, i still could restore a whatsapp backup and i see all my photos which are located on my internal storage. (/storage/emulated/o).
I think the wiping isn't done right or something.
Does anybody know what i should do?
I just want to wipe everything possible, except for CWM and then do a clean install.
