Video Player for HDR MP4 - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Is there any app that can play these videos?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72712498&postcount=1
"These videos only work in HDR with the "Samsung Video Library" player (available from Play Store). This will NOT work with any other video player (MX Player, VLC etc.)"
Wondering if possible to get these videos running on OP5.
I try XPlayer and it play it in slow motion even if Playback speed 1/5 or 2
Or is there a way to make Samsung Video Library to install on OP5

I tend to have good luck with VLC player

not working with this video

Did you try changing build.prop to set the device name to some compatible Samsung device? You could copy relevant values from an S8. Playstore only looks at build.prop when it checks device compatibility.
Or get the APK from apkmirror?
Once you install, it probably won't work, but fret not and post the logs (use aLogCat or Catlog) and we'll figure if any additional libraries are needed.
I managed to play the videos in VLC, the settings: force OpenGL ES2, full acceleration, force YUV2 chroma, skip frames(probably not needed - plays smooth), brightness 100%.

I prefer using VLC, but I search everywhere to find this settings, and cannot find where to set it.

what is the version you are using?
I cannot find OpenGL usage: Force On part
I have VLC 2.0.6

2.1.12 beta, it's on apkmirror or you can enroll in beta in the playstore.

A tool to convert video to media player with hardware accelleration with mencoder

The main goal is to be able to use the hardware accelleration inside the X1. Or, only media player are able to!
Nor TCPMP or COREPLAYER use hardware.
But it was a pain in my ass to find a way to make a script able to convert a full directory fill with videos, with subtitles, and not to manage what is convert. And Free!
The way of thinking is:
I download a lot of free videos inside a unique directory, i have make this one the repository of my download.
I launch my script every night before sleeping
And I don't want to manage what is converted or not and i don't want to launch a application, i want something full auto...
So i make a full automation script.
I work under vista, so i'm not sure that's working under other windows.
it convert:
.avi
.mkv (with subtitles inside)
.flv
.mp4
.mpg
it takes subtitles:
.ass
.srt
.ssa
.mkv (it search inside itself)
to download:
http://dl.free.fr/qlBn0C2oj/ppc-conv.rar
clik on the "Télécharger ce fichier", sorry i'm french and don't know other file sender free
So how to do?
Extract the directory where you want
no need to setup anything
To convert:
1- you put your videos inside the dir VIDEOS
2- you start the "LANCE.BAT" inside main dir
3- you wait some hours
4- you transfer (with a copy! not a move) the .mp4 files inside the PMP dir on your X1
To clean when you have watch a video:
1- remove the files inside VIDEOS
2- on the next convert it will remove it from the PMP dir
Technical information:
Organization of the dir:
+---apps...........<- Main dir with the application
¦ +---.mplayer.....<- used by mencoder
¦ +---codecs.......<- used by mencoder
¦ +---mkvtoolnix...<- used for extract subtitles inside the mkv
¦ +---mplayer......<- used by mencoder
¦ ¦ +---conf.......<- used by mencoder
¦ ¦ +---font.......<- used by mencoder
¦ +---temp.........<- used for temporary step
+---pmp............<- where the final videos converted appears
+---temp...........<- used for temporary step
+---videos.........<- Where you put your videos and subtitles
Video are encoded into 640x360 1008kbit/s
Sound into aac 128kbit/s
works very fine in full screen
PS:
i share with you because i have try so much things and pass so much times to find a way, so i guess peharps someone else on earth wants this?
If you don't like it, don't download it
If you want more type of videos format send one to me and i will try
If you have problems says to me i will try to help but remember: it was a selfish script for me
Merci,
I will give it a try. I suppose that the settings wil give the greatest quality possible on an X1? ThanX once again

yes, i have try better resolution and better quality for no visual difference and much more lag.
With these parameters i'm on the border. sometimes some very high details scene are laggy
I bought core player. What are the best settings for it for the x1? Right now mine is on Outpu: qtv display
Video quality high
Smooth Zoom: only for 50%
Dither: off
Does it always use hardware acceleration or do I have to turn it on?
Thanks!

you cannot have hard accel with any other application than media player.
So you need to make a special mp4 file to be able to read it with it. It's the goal of my script
There is a huge gap in quality between them.
Really? I thought the whole point of core player was codecs and hardware aceeleration. I guess I'll give your script a go then.
Thanks.
even without hw acc, mine still playback a 800MB DivX/Xvid .AVI movies just fine with coreplayer.

core : qtv w tytn driver, high, dither/no = no real effect
buffers default except audio 128
sync audio w .avi in adv setting
vid xvid/divx around 600-650 x 300-350 res
bitrate around 800-1K kbps
audio mp3/aac 2chnl around 120kbps
it's not 100% smooth but enjoyable
I just tried Videora, a free iPod videoconverter.
Videora Website
Settings for Videora:
1. Power mode.
2. Choose File to convert.
3. Choose Destination Folder.
4. Choose a Title for the converted movie (Optional)
5. Choose Device = iPhone 3G
6. Choose Profile = MPEG4 480x320 768kbps Stereo/128kbit 2-Pass
7. Press Start Converting
Works really good, the video runs really smooth.

driver? does is it mean that you add something to your coreplayer?
no it's provided in coreplayer, in fact it's the default set in core if you're using qtv output in core.
try hard reset and install core again from fresh start; i've got some problems too a while ago and wasn't able to playback any video correctly at all; after hard reset those problems are gone.
Not to bug again about this, but doesn't CorePlayer not support Hardware acceleration on the XPeria? Doesn't Sony's player support it?
Many thanks nusul - I will give this a try! Appreciate your work on this
Tried to convert video but stript just flashes some opened windows but does nothing.
tried AVI/MP4 files in Video folder, no luck
Sorry, I have read this thread but I still have to ask for proper confirmation; you only get HW acceleration with Windows Media Player? So not when using the SE Media Experience panel?
I ask because I find the panel much faster when playing video than with Media Player (which takes at least the 1st five seconds of a movie to switch to landscape!!)

[Suggestion] Moboplayer

Hey guys , try this video player it's an absolute beast for VFP6 Arm processors . You know how limited P500 is with videos , can only run up to 640X360 and certain dimensions : max 1gb or something like that.
Well with moboplayer I've been runing 720X400 , or even higher with no probs . Thing is , above this resolution you should try to oc the cpu . Moboplayer makes great use of cpu speed unlike other players .
I could refer to this player as the Swiss army knife of video playback considering it also plays some formats of videos with audio files that fail on other players like default vplayer and Mvideoplayer
Unfortunately it does not play Mkv well yet and prolly the only rez P500 might go with a oc'ed 800 cpu is 480p. But as the devs of Mobo said they will be fixing mkv soon .
http://www.moboplayer.com/moboplayer_en.html
Just download the V6 VFP , that's the correct version for our phone .
Cheers and I hope this suggestion has helped many people in dire need of better video playback
I'll download this when I'm in need of it. Thanks! By the way, I remember your video playback problem thread. Glad you found a solution
the best video player so far for Optimus One!
Aye indeed it seems so freexander . I wanted to test yesterday Vplayer but it did not even finish the install . It might be arm V7 only with neon .
I can hardly wait to see if the mobo devs will continue the awesome support VFP 6 and give proper mkv support ;P. It would be awesome if I could at least run videos up to 480p
Working great,..better than QQplayer.

thanks
does dis plays mkv files?
Hmmmm , not yet . At least I tried a 480p video of about 150mb and it did not work properly . But moboplayer devs said they will adress mkv problems in next version .
Nice! I like how it can change aspect ratio.
tried it, manage to play most of the video files
New patch : 1.0.120
It does not bring the proper mkv support but we can hope
Changelog :

Very good, thanks for sharing!
Hmmm tempted! Thanks for the suggestion!
I'm gonna try that 1 if it's better than the mVideoPlayer i'll defenetly swap to it! BTW for MKV i think, not sure, but i think mVideoPlayer plays them! idk how well or not so well tho :x
i ilke it....
I have a 10 inch android pad and have the VFP version. Does anyone know how to make it play full screen? Thanks.
When I play a video from megavideo app, and I choose MoboPlayer, it plays one or two second and then closes. The video doesnt play, why?
Prety much best app for videos....it played a 720p mkv file at 10-15 fps almost same to rockplayer....
So what program do people use to convert their movies to something Moboplayer uses. I tried using Handbrake and Moboplayer said it had to use "soft conversion" and the movie then kind of stuttered. I could just be using the wrong settings with Handbrake, or should I be using something else?

[Q] hardware accelerated video

Hi there running vegacomb 3.2 just wondering how to enable hw video playback, can't play 720p videos at all without it being choppy as hell.
I did search first but it was mostly old info and didn't work heh.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Also if anyone knows how to get setcpu working on this build that be great.
Tried using custom text file which it can read but it does not actually apply any settings.

Brilliant thanks for that everything is super smooth now.
Shame none of the free ones had compatible hw playback.
Worth the pennies though got portable HD playback now
Did you try MoboPlayer or MX Video Player, those are free and should also support Tegra 2 HW thru their respective plugins?
Plugins for your specific device should auto download thru the market when you first start the player.
Give those two a try and report back.
Of course if you already paid for the full version of DicePlayer then there is no point to test any other player because this should be the best there is (if it's working for you).
I tested the trial on a 720p MOV file and there was no video, only audio.

use Tegra2 optimized SW video decoder.
(except HW mode that use stock player)
but diceplayer use hw video decoder ( not VFP otimized sw decoder ) in Tegra2
at all combinations of containers(avi,mkv,mov...) and audio codecs(aac,ac3,dts,flac,mp3....)

Just making sure as I don't want to buy something if don't need to
Downloaded an MX video player better which improved SW decoding performance ( things play at 15-20 fps) HW still doesn't work though : [
But the dev is looking into how dice player done it so with luck MX player will have HW acceleration with the vega soon.

Video playing in extreme fast forward

I have a non rooted a500 and since the last update all videos playin super fast forward speed and can't fix it. I've tried uninstalling and ReInstalling mobo and other video player but nothing helps. When I put videos on a flash drive and do it that way it does the same, also with recorded videos with the built in camcorder also play in fast forward.
I think it's a codecs problem. I experienced the same trying to copy the video stream from a mkv into mp4 (apparently there was a problem with b-frames and had to reencode). Did you try to reinstall the codecs for mobo? Or you could give mx player a try - works much better than mobo for me.

First you would remove the codec. To do this you would go into your settings - applications - manage applications. Find the video player in this list. There should be two entries for the video player app. One is for the actual player, and one is for the codec. Select the codec on and uninstall it. If your video player is decent, when you try to run it, it will prompt you for a codec to which you can just follow the link to install it from the market.

Can TAB 10.1 play 720p .mkv video files smoothly?

Hi, I just got my galaxy tab 10.1 and all 720p video files (trailers, music videos, movies) I put on it lagg really bad. I tried moboplayer, rockplayer and MX player. Has anyone been able to play a 720p file on it without lagg, and how do you do it? Thanks.
I'd do a search if I was you. there is either bsplayer lite or diceplayer on the market. those play them OK. that's your only choices.
Agreed, Diceplayer works without any lag at all. All my 720p mkv episodes run buttery-smooth.
If you only buy *one* app from the market, make sure it's this one (you also have to install the Diceplayer Tegra 2 plug-in).
yeah diceplayer is good. just that there is only the trial version on market with 3 day trial. waiting for the paid one
Diceplayer is still a little bit laggy. Tegra2 suckz big time btw. My singlecore galaxy s handles all kinds of hd-videos without problems.
Bsplayer works best. Almost no lag.

I use VLC Direct Pro, works really great!
and you can stream from your pc, so you don't have to put your movies, series of music on your tablet, just stream it from your pc
I use mxplayer and I haven't got problem, although my tab is far from stock rom

Thank you! Bsplayer was the only player I found that handled 720p with only a little lag. When I overclocked to 1,4ghz with the task 650 rom the lag was like 99% gone on bsplayer. Tegra 2 did not run 720p videos as good as I thought it would, and I guess battery life while watching hd movies must be pretty bad if it needs 1,4ghz OC to run it smoothly.
Edit: It was only able to play trailers smoothly. When I tried a 720p movie it was really choppy. I think I have dowloaded every video player there is and none actually play 720p mkv movies smoothly at all, even with 1.4ghz OC it doeson't work. If I can't get 720p to work, I think I will return this and get the transformer prime instead.
Threads like this come up every couple of weeks. Yes, hardware accelerated codec support on tegra 2 is limited. Those looking to decode just any old file they get elsewhere should look elsewhere for a device that supports the random codec settings that are found on video and movie "distribution sites". Those who do their own encoding can find encoding settings that provide great playback quality on these devices at 720p resolution.

With "pick up," do you mean adding to the library? Because the files actually are in the library in my case, the player just says the files can't be played.

Sorry, yeah they get added to the library. Must just be the encoding used within the mkv frame in your case. Either audio or Video codec not compatible within the mkv for the Tab. In the case of the 2GB file I was using it's AVC and AAC audio.

Remove the file extension on your computer. This can be achieved by opting to show file extensions, in Windows' folder options. Then, when the files are on your tablet, use a file manager like ASTRO, IO or AndroZip to re-add the extension. That's it. Depending on the video files, this may or may not work.
Here's the answer to you question

The best solution I've found to play 720P locally or stream via SMB is using diceplayer or BSplayer. I use both. Dice Player kinda sucks at skipping timeframe, only great playing 720P video from beginning to end. BSplayer is awesome because I can skip to any and plus it has its own SMB file browser. That alone is not enough though when playing 720P smoothly, you have to overclock it to 1.4Ghz. I'm using Galaxy Task 8.0 ROM and it plays buttery smooth. Use tasker and setcpu to create some custom condition when to overclock. I set condition in tasker to overclock to 1.4Ghz when BSplayer is active and in SetCPU, I set 800mhz when screen is off and set another for 1Ghz when screen is on. Hope that helps. ^^
Don't use Galaxy Task v9 or v10 because I was having WiFi issue, i dont know if its just my tab or not...
1. In Handbrake load your video.
2. Choose the profile for iPad.
3. On the Advanced settings tab unclick "8x8 Transform".
4. This step is optional if you don't really need a 720p video. iPad resolution videos looks exquisite on the Tab anyway.
Resize your video to 1280x720 by clicking on the Picture tab on a Windows machine. Mac users can click the Picture button to change the resolution. Leave all other options intact!
5. Hit convert and wait.
The resulting file will be less than 1GB for a 1h40min video! You can push it with ADB or copy it through MTP without reconversion!
On stock ROM and with Galaxy Task, I've been able to play 720p with no lag using diceplayer with the Tegra2 add-on. No overclocking. I think it's going to depend a lot on how the file was encoded, though. It just happens that I have no problem with the videos I play.
yeah i've been playin with .mkv files on my day old stock rom (but rooted) tab...
my experiences...
transferring 720p mkv via std mtp mount on win7 pc = file copies fine,
1080p mkv wont transfer (it copies for an 1hr, gets to 5 secs to go & fails lol)
stock player can't play mkv for shjt
mx is laggy as hell & hw decoder doesnt work
vplayer does a good enough job with 720p, when using a buffer & hw decoding
i realise there's a lot more to a movie file than its extension... but that's all i realise ;-)
did kinda expect better from the tab tbh... my old cheapa$$ arnova a9 g2 (that i took back to the store & put money too, to get the tab) could play 720p on the stock player.... (exact same files i'm testing on the tab)
i might check out diceplayer that y'all raving about or even BSplayer, my preferred mkv player on my laptop
cheers
