My device is blocked at booting - Huawei Mediapad M3 Questions & Answers

Hello ,
My Huawei Mediapad M3 is blocked :crying: at the screen boot "huawei mediapad, powered by android" after an update (EMUI 4 to EMUI 5). It's my fault for that reason:
-the device is from US
-I live in Europe and I tried to update it with that tutorial : I can't post the link but search "ministry of solutions mediapad M3" and the article posted at the 7th of june 2017.
-I did all steps of the method 1 but the device is blocked during the boot.
I tried to repear my device with Hisuite on my PC, I clicked on system recovery, it said "entered system recovery mode", I clicked on "recover" but it wrotte "your device is not supported for system recovery" so I can't do anything with Hisuite.
On my device, I just can go to the fastboot/rescue mode (power and -) and it's writte in green " phone: locked, FRP: lock" and I can't do do anything to.
My device is not root and I don't have TWRP or other recovery.
Ask me if you want other informations.
Thank you for your help :highfive:

US Rom seems to be very hard to find. I found this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m3/help/stock-rom-t3529835. Do you remember what build number it had? if you find any of them, you can flash it from the stock recovery by copying the dload folder (that can be found inside the ROM) to the microSD card. Turn off tablet, press Volume Up + Volume Down + Power and the update process should start.
If you do not know what version it had, look for it on the box it came with. It looks like US ROM is C128 like in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m3/help/how-to-install-european-chinese-rom-t3609687.
Edit: Try using the desktop version of the Firmware Finder app from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/tools/general/huawei-firmware-finder-team-mt-t3469146. Look for the latest non-Nougat ROM in the list with C128 code in its name.

Thank you for reply :good: ,
I think it's BTV-W09C128xxx. I'm downloading the full OTA BTV-W09C128B350 2,5 GB size on the firmware finder. Could you be more specific with the process "you can flash it from the stock recovery by copying the dload folder (that can be found inside the ROM) to the microSD card. Turn off tablet, press Volume Up + Volume Down + Power and the update process should start." ? I don't understand very well what must I do.

Inside the archive you are downloading there is a dload folder (there is a dload folder in any archive containing Huawei firmware, if I am not mistaken). You need to decompress it and copy dload folder to the root of a microSD card, insert into your tablet and then do the Volume Up + Volume Down + Power steps.

I didn't find a dload folder but there is a "UPDATE.APP"
Edit: Thank you for your help but I will go to a customer store tomorrow, it's easier and I have a guarantee (It may be working with my problem).

All the firmwares I downloaded from Huawei were in a form of a zip archive. Inside it there always was a folder with a guide and a dload folder. Customer support should be able to help you. Do not forget your microSD card inside the tablet.

Upgrading P8 Lite Dual Sim from ALE21 C636B150 EMUI 3.1

Guys I'm really lost trying to upgrade to Android 6 or even 7.
I know I must upgrade to at least EMUI 4.0
I know I am rooted.
I'm unsure if I have unlocked my boot loader.
How do I easily change Country Codes? Do I even need to do it?
I think if someone can assist with these early steps, then I can proceed alone to install new ROMs etc.
C636 is for South East / South Asian regions...
To check whether you've unlocked your bootloader or not, just boot into the fastboot mode... To do that, shut down your device completely then connect your device to your laptop / PC holding the volume down button. Once you enter into fastboot mode, there a Message will be displayed under the Android Logo. You can confirm whether your bootloader is locked or not.
If your only goal is to get Marshmallow, then you can search for firmware and then manually upgrade using the dload method.
First, you download the required firmware (gradually up to Marshmallow), then you extract the update.zip to get UPDATE.APP file (usually 2.3GB+). Then you copy the UPDATE.APP file into a folder named dload. You must then copy this dload folder to the root of Internal Memory and you can update your Android through Updater.

[Help][Debrand] P10 Lite and Firmware Finder

I'm not an English native speaker, so I won't write in perfect English, hope it is understandable.
The questions are in the bottom of the post.
-
So, I recently bought an Huawei P10 Lite. I'm new to the Huawei scene but I modded some Samsung phones some years ago.
When I booted up my Huawei for the first time, I saw the "TIM" (a telephone operator in Italy, I don't know how you call it, but it's similar to T-Mobile, Verizon, Vodafone etc.) bootanimation.
I was afraid that my P10 Lite would be full of bloatwares, but it wasn't.
So, thanks to this, I have 10GB left, 12GB occupied by installed applications and games, and 10GB occupied by the system.
The only problem with the branded version of this smartphone is that I have a custom bootanimation, which is very slow and runs on a very low framerate, and I have to wait extra months when a new patch/version is released.
Also, I can't understand why the system occupies 10GB, it's too much for me.
So, since yesterday, I searched for solutions and found some answers.
The first one is rooting, but I don't like that. I often do some things on rooted devices which lead me to brick them.
Another solution I found is using "Firmware Finder". I opened it and he recognized my phone as a "WAS-LX1AC55B176" (WAS-LX1A / Build 176), which is the actual version installed on my device. So I tried to install the newest version (Build 187 not Full OTA) via Proxy (he failed) and via DNS. Using the DNS method, I waited 10 minutes and got the 300mb downloaded. The only problem is that it asked me to download more and more patches until I reached the Patch 11 with 3,68GB download, then I gave up.
Now I'm considering to try the WAS-LX1AC432B191 (European) version in Full OTA (I'm going to try the 300mb one, too) but I don't know if there are any differences between C55 and C432 (Yes, I know that one is branded and one is not, but I mean differences like Single or Dual SIM etc.).
At the moment, my phone is Single-SIM and it has 4/32GB of RAM/ROM.
-
So here are the problems:
- Do I lose all my data with a OTA update via Firmware Finder DNS?
- Do I brick my device if I do an OTA update via Firmware Finder DNS switching from C55 to C432?
- Does the C432 version work only with Dual-SIM or 3/32GB or 4/64GB devices?
- What C432 build190 do I have to download? There are 3 OTAs (103343, 103344, 103459) and 1 Full OTA (103460).
mister if you want debrand your device from c55 to c432, you need:
all files are in the forum
unlock bootloader(please copy code to safe place, and all data required).
download oeminfo c432 ss or ds and b182(ds) and b183(ss)
twrp
adb drivers(install in c
-----------------------------------------------------
download serviceRom and extract, insert a sdcard on your laptop and create a dload folder. Open the rom downloaded until dload, copy update.app + all was folders.
now with the device, poweroff and conect to laptop:
frp: enable oem unlock(go to about phone), press several times to developer settings, then go to developer settings and scrol until oem unlock and enable(yes or yes).
- fastboot: vol- + power
- cmd(cd c:/adb): fastboot oem unlock your code, press yes and config device
- twrp: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img, finished type fastboot reboot(plus vol +) until you go to huawei erecovery, poweroff and unplug, press vol+ and power.
- in twrp: make a backup only oeminfo(copy yes or yes to safe place) on your sdcard, copy/replace the downloaded oeminfo to twrp backed up folder and press restore. poweroff
- dload: press vol +/- and power untill update starts.

Thanks for replying, but I don't want to root my device, guess I have to wait until Oreo comes out. When it does, I'll root my device and take the risk to update it (for me, it's very risky, I'm not that good in rooting "new" devices.

You don't understand.
I don't want to loose my warranty only because I can't wait, so I'll root my device when the warranty will expire (so, in 2020).

At step number 6 an indication "Software install failed!" appears. Battery is 99% and the connection with my laptop is impossible. What can I do? Is there any solution to connect it with my laptop?

Try to install through SDcard create a dload folder on sdcard and to that dload folder copy ONLY the update.app file, and just like I wrote hold down the + & - & power button and it should say "installing update", make shure you have huawei recovery instead of twrp cause on twrp it wont install youre stock rom. I really dont know what could be the problem: check also if you deleted everything through twrp and install huawei recovery that is a MUST!!!
Where can I find the huawei recovery? I cannot find it!!!

1.)Dont use multitool 8, youre doing everything fine youre using the wrong complicated tools
2.)try to download sdk platform-tools from here (https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools)
3.)Place the recovery.img file to platform-tools folder
4.)open command prompt in windows as administrator and in that command prompt change the directory of cmd to youre platform-tools folder example
"cd C:/youre/path/to/the/platform-tools" then type:
--->>>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img<<<---
it will say dameon tools not running blah blah blah ignore that, you need to make shure that youre end result is succes OK!
and then type:
--->>>fastboot reboot<<<---
and thats it try "dloading" that update.app file through SDcard holding +&- button
Final steps.
I did the
->>>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img<<<--- without problems etc and I received the success message.
and then I typed: --->>>fastboot reboot<<<. The phone booted normaly.
Then I put the update.app file into the SDcard and while it was connected to pc I pressed power and volume +&- button.
The huawei software installation began and freezee at 90%.
What do I have to do?

did you create a dload folder on sd card and placed the update.app in it? is it charged atleast when the green dot appears?
P.S you can NOT!!! use hisuite while instaling the update.app becuase its disrupting the installation everything is doing via sd card.
Youre doing everything well :victory::victory::victory:but youre doing weird things:cyclops::cyclops::cyclops:, why are you connecting it to PC when you stored your update.app on sdcard?

Need extract for multi-tool 8: BOOT.img, CUST.img, RECOVERY.img, RECOVERY2.img, SYSTEM.img, UPDATE.APP).
(because i not really remeber , try all other files from update.app from *hw*.zip and update.app from update.zip
Please fix is not right, is is possible both are same)
- Multi-Tool 8 -> unbrick
http://pro-teammt.ru/projects/hwmt/release/Multi-Tool 8.msi
Turn phone off from TWRP (reboot, shutdown)
press vol - and put usb cable in pc (need go download mode, repeat if need, if pc not reconize put phone normat booting with usb and go coffee)
try twice if need with swipe cache.
Maybe it end error message but running right.
- If all seems be fine, relock bootloader
Turn off phone
press vol - and put usb cable in pc (need go download mode, repeat if need)
(Run in bat file or type in command window , your own bootloader opening code from huawei.)
fastboot oem relock "your opening code"
Good luck, i repair no system files with this.
I was first timer, so try understand poor instructions.

You you have the stock e-recovery (nougat)?
If yes try to "update" to the firmware service repair (emui 5): http://androidhost.ru/JS
Or try to update to stock oreo (you can see my EMUI 8 post)

Bricked? Broken? Dead? I have lost all hope... - I can't enter fastboor OR recovery..

fixed. idk what i did fastboot randomly worked again :/
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello there. So I have my Huawei P10 plus for about a half year now, and I found out the huawei's unlock bootloader code site worked, so I just jumped straight at it and unlocked my bootloader.
Everything went well, i could go into fastboot, installed twrp, everything worked fine. Rooted the phone bblablabla..... Then I realised I could not use Snapchat anymore because of the root.
So, I had SuperSu installed. I tried to unroot via there, didn't work. So I clicked "use another root app", wich basicly bricked my phone - i think - . After doing that, supersu wasn't gone yet. So I flashed it away with a zip in TWRP. That broke everything.
Snapchat worked, so I didn't bother that much. But the thing is,
i couldn't change theme of my phone
i couldn't update system anymore.
I tried over 10 days trying to get this fixed but nothing seems to help.
forcing into fastboot, twrp, or huawei's eRecovery, it all just bootst into the default boot or phone.
I have lost all hope and I don't honestly know what to do.
So I can still use my phone, but I can't do system updates or change the theme, and probably more things I didn't yet have found out. I'm sorry if my English is pritty broke, I'm just so pissed off atm I just don't know what to do anymore except for making a post like I'm doing now.
Please, help me.
Thank you.
PS: I know what some people are going to say: reinstall or flash the default rom and hard factory reset. Okay good, first of all I can NOWHERE ON THE ENTIRE INTERNET find my default ROM (boot.img etc), and I can't flash ANYTHING cuz i cant go into fastboot or TWRP.
i am ded
plz help
Hey!
So yeah, just flash your default rom.
It will wipe everything.
For this you have to use firmware finder, or go to this site (for VTR-L09. Type VTR-L29 in the search bar if you have this variant).
Click on filelist when you see : 2018.02.11 VTR-L09C432B185 (/!\ latest Nougat update).
Copy and past the first link that the filelist will provide.
Then download Huawei Update Extractor and Huawei Multi-Tool.
Open the update.zip file and extract the UPDATE.APP somewhere.
Open Huawei Firmware Extractor, click on " ... "and select your UPDATE.APP file.
Right click somewhere in the list and select "Extract all".
Extract everything to a new folder.
Power-off your phone, press vol-, plug your phone to your PC and press power (while vol- is pushed down). You should be in fastboot mode.
Open Multi-tool, go to the Unbrick tab, click on Specify a folder, select the folder that you have extracted the UPDATE.APP to, and hit OK.
If all the boxes are checked (System.img, boot.img, cust.img, recovery.img and userdata.img), you should be able to click the "Brick" button.
If you don't have cust, then you'll have to download the files on the 2nd and 3rd link that I gave you earlier, one of them contains an UPDATE.APP file, you have to extract it and extract its content with Update Extractor to the same folder that you have extracted the content of the previous UPDATE.APP file.
It will take time to flash, but when it's done, it's written in the Progress window in multitool.
When you're done, just update to oreo and follow the TWRP tutorial for oreo and the one for magisk, SuperSU is really outdated.
Well I just did a quick read at your text and saw you needed fastboot. I think you didn't read my post. I can not enter fastboot, otherwise I could have probably fixed it myself. Any suggestions?

I read your post.
Usually to enter fastboot you press vol- and power, but with TWRP you can't do this anymore (my case).
That's why I said : vol-, plug the phone to your pc and instantly press power while pushing vol-, that's the only way that I can enter fastboot, give it a try :good:
