Why some s8 apps install and others not? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

I have been having a hard time to understand why some of the S8 apps from apkmirror install just fine even after the April or May security patch, and others not.
And I am talking about the same app but different versions/updates of it.
For example:
The S8 AOD apk version 2.6.77.4 installs just fine even after May security patch. The versions after that or before that get the conflict error.
The S8 Touchwiz Home version 6.1.09.2 installs just fine even after the May security patch. Some versions before it get the conflict error.
Could a programmer or a more experienced member use a program like apkEdit, and try to find out what is the difference in the above versions that lets them be installed?
If we find what the difference is, then we may be able to see what should be done to get all apps installed after the April/May security patch, like the s8 weather apps.

I have installed June security patch.
Both the apk mentioned above worked for me too. Later version of AOD 2.7.05 couldn't be installed as there's package name conflict.
My deduction is some version of apks might work, hence I went to try Weather app on apkmirror.
Current version installed on my S7 Edge is 1.4.34-1 after June update, so the earlier version just prompted "file corrupted" when installing, and the only version available on apkmirror can't be installed.

App not installed. Package Conflicts

Hello!!
My phone is an S7 Edge with Android 7.0. I am trying to manually install updates from apps included in the stock, like the calendar, messages ... etc. However I can not do it because it gives me this error: " App not installed. The package conflicts cith an existing package by te same name".
Please, can someone help me with this?
Uninstall the app and install the newest. If you have still the problem try install over ADB. Then you can see package name with conflict and uninstall it.
Hi,
You're trying to install two apps with the same package name, in Android data system the apps you install have its data saved in a folder with the format /data/*package name*/, therefore if two apps use the exact same package name and have different signatures (that is, one is not the update of another) you won't be able to install it.
As suggested, try to uninstall the stock apps and then install again manually. However I do not think you'll be able to do it, due to the nature of stock apps being installed in system partition. So for manually installing an stock app you'll first need to uninstall it, and that usually requires superuser privileges.

That is the answer I have searched for days. You know APKMIRROR right? I am on unrooted SM-G935F (s7 edge) and I was not able to install any system apps before. But in apkmirror, some people uploaded newer versions of system apps and there was one visible difference: older versions which I cannot install was with android head icon, but newer version had it's own app icon next to the name, and that installed for me. For example s8 launcher (touchwiz home). I always got package error when tried to download versions with android head, and when someone uploaded version with its own icon, it installed. Can you explain this?
And now im waiting for new versions of s8 weather widget because there is no version available with the app icons....
All you need to to to install Touchwiz 9.0 is to encript device, and afterward install will go smoothly (All other experience 9.0 apps can be installed too).(Samsung S6, Android 7.0, December security patch).

apk install error

Hi there,
Since yesterday i'm trying to install some apks from apkmirror.com and this message appears: "App not installed. The package conflicts with an existing package by the same name."
I had an minor update on nougat yesterday as well, i think it was the april security update.
How can i solve this?
Thanks.
This happens with some Galaxy apps.
Some say if you try installing early enough it works (best is to disable any security verification and add a shortcut to the homescreen for this purpose).

Can not install S8 Apps on S7 Edge

Hello there,
I have Galaxy S7 Edge(SM-G935FD) I've installed S8 launcher simply by installing apk and its working fine. But I can not install S8's weather app and AOD on my device. When I try to install the APKs it says, "the package conflicts with an existing package by the same name". There are many people who are facing the same problem. What should I do? Is there any solution?
P.S. I don't want to root my device.
Apparently all those who have April security patch installed (including me) facing with this error !
It looks like Samsung is blocking us from getting install system apps updates on its latest April patch.
I don't know if this annoying interdiction occurred in May security patch or not, maybe someone with May security patch will confirm if "app not installed the package conflicts with an existing package by the same name" still present or not !
As I know there is no workaround which can fix this, maybe a downgrade to January or February security patch will ! I want to know that too !
I had formatted and signed in with Google and Samsung accounts. No lock settings yet. Disable data and Wi-Fi.
I was able to install the apks downloaded from apkmirror. Yes I was on the latest firmware.
Edit: Turning off mobile data and Wi-Fi also helps

Warning: DO NOT update to C.33 if yours is rooted

It appears July security patch has different API and current Hide/Deny List/USNF/Shamiko becomes invalid, and Wallet/G Pay will detect root even you hide it and passed Safety net
Stay on C.21 until the new solution comes out

This is an issue even on OOS11 I'm afraid, Google Wallet uses the Play Integrity API to detect root now. Passing Play Integrity's attestation without rom side commits is harder that safetynet, but i've managed to do it on OOS11 using the MagiskHide Props Config module, i spoofed an OnePlus 5T on Android 9 and was able to set up contactless on Google Wallet as before

I also had problems with Play Integrity after updating to C.33. But then I installed Displax's version of USNF and I'm now able to use Google Wallet/Pay again.

There's an app you can check Play Integrity
Yes, I have it installed as well as USNF 2.3.1 mod installed
8T: first two passed
Thanks for the warning. If i didn't read this i would update to latest version. I need GPay.

This works, I got 3 cards setup out of maybe 5 I needed - the ones that wouldn't load, I deleted the bank app and tried a few times and they got approved eventually. This is so much easier than anyone else's solutions. Just Magisk, Zygisk deny list, this app, it works

Unable to Install APKs (Package Invalid)

I recently upgraded to the latest build of Oxygen OS (IN2025_11_F.13) after procrastinating.
I am trying to install quick glance so that I can disable the discover page on my homescreen.
No matter what APK version I try, it gives me an error stating the package appears to be invalid.
The same thing happens when trying to install the older version of oneplus weather with the (in my opinion) better widget and animations.
This also applies to any APK I have tried installing.
Is there any way to install these apps?
Or are there other ways to restore the old version of weather and disable discover?
My device is rooted with Magisk FYI.
Thanks.
