Can not install S8 Apps on S7 Edge - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello there,
I have Galaxy S7 Edge(SM-G935FD) I've installed S8 launcher simply by installing apk and its working fine. But I can not install S8's weather app and AOD on my device. When I try to install the APKs it says, "the package conflicts with an existing package by the same name". There are many people who are facing the same problem. What should I do? Is there any solution?
P.S. I don't want to root my device.

Apparently all those who have April security patch installed (including me) facing with this error !
It looks like Samsung is blocking us from getting install system apps updates on its latest April patch.
I don't know if this annoying interdiction occurred in May security patch or not, maybe someone with May security patch will confirm if "app not installed the package conflicts with an existing package by the same name" still present or not !
As I know there is no workaround which can fix this, maybe a downgrade to January or February security patch will ! I want to know that too !

I had formatted and signed in with Google and Samsung accounts. No lock settings yet. Disable data and Wi-Fi.
I was able to install the apks downloaded from apkmirror. Yes I was on the latest firmware.
Edit: Turning off mobile data and Wi-Fi also helps

App not installed. Package Conflicts

Hello!!
My phone is an S7 Edge with Android 7.0. I am trying to manually install updates from apps included in the stock, like the calendar, messages ... etc. However I can not do it because it gives me this error: " App not installed. The package conflicts cith an existing package by te same name".
Please, can someone help me with this?
Uninstall the app and install the newest. If you have still the problem try install over ADB. Then you can see package name with conflict and uninstall it.
Hi,
You're trying to install two apps with the same package name, in Android data system the apps you install have its data saved in a folder with the format /data/*package name*/, therefore if two apps use the exact same package name and have different signatures (that is, one is not the update of another) you won't be able to install it.
As suggested, try to uninstall the stock apps and then install again manually. However I do not think you'll be able to do it, due to the nature of stock apps being installed in system partition. So for manually installing an stock app you'll first need to uninstall it, and that usually requires superuser privileges.
All the best,
~Lord

That is the answer I have searched for days. You know APKMIRROR right? I am on unrooted SM-G935F (s7 edge) and I was not able to install any system apps before. But in apkmirror, some people uploaded newer versions of system apps and there was one visible difference: older versions which I cannot install was with android head icon, but newer version had it's own app icon next to the name, and that installed for me. For example s8 launcher (touchwiz home). I always got package error when tried to download versions with android head, and when someone uploaded version with its own icon, it installed. Can you explain this?
And now im waiting for new versions of s8 weather widget because there is no version available with the app icons....
All you need to to to install Touchwiz 9.0 is to encript device, and afterward install will go smoothly (All other experience 9.0 apps can be installed too).(Samsung S6, Android 7.0, December security patch).

apk install error

Hi there,
Since yesterday i'm trying to install some apks from apkmirror.com and this message appears: "App not installed. The package conflicts with an existing package by the same name."
I had an minor update on nougat yesterday as well, i think it was the april security update.
How can i solve this?
Thanks.
This happens with some Galaxy apps.
Some say if you try installing early enough it works (best is to disable any security verification and add a shortcut to the homescreen for this purpose).

Install samsung app apk after April security patch

Could someone kindly remind me how to install a samsung apk from apk mirror after the April Security patch, so as to avoid the existing package error?
If I recall correctly, a member said that you need to toggle a switch in developer options.
Any help will be appreciated. I am trying to install the latest s8 weather app and widget.

You can install Touchwiz Home,Weather and AOD without any issues on DQD7.
They work normal.
Seems that Gallery and Clock cause issues after being installed.
Gallery force closes when opening/editing pictures,Clock timer seems to stop...

I also tried to install the APKs using adb and command prompt, but unfortunately I get failure...
So there is no way at all to sideload an apk after the April Security patch to a non-rooted s7 edge ??????
Me, i reverted back to February Sec firmware
I just got a new software update today was around 170mbs
Csc BTU
I couldnt install apks because of the package conflict issue. But since i updated today i tried installing and everything installed again just fine.
Good news to me no more updates yet
I have Indian S7 edge with April security patch, unrooted android 7.0. I successfully installed weather apk and weather forecast apk, latest version released on 07 may on APK mirror. but when i checked the weather widget it is showing still old design. I cleared data cash no luck.

I have the DQD7 latest update as well. But I cannot install the weather apps of S8...
Even tried by using apk editor. I changed the package name and re-compiled it. I managed to install it as a separate app, but it was not working...
The April Security update is blocking a lot of the Samsung built-in apps from being updated. It usually errors with "The Package conflicts with an existing package by the same name" Does not make a difference if you rollback the last one that worked it will still cause the same error almost each and every time.
It seems that the only apks you can install after the April's security update are the ones that have their own icon (and not just the android head).
The ones with the android head as an icon are probably considered system apps and you cannot install them (like the s8 samsung weather apks), however the ones with their own icon (like the latest s8 samsung home app), can be installed without any problem.
So I suppose we will have to wait from an updated weather app apk...

Clean install...? Meaning backup everything and reseting the phone...?
Or using odin to reinstall DQD7 but using home_csc to keep all your apps and settings intact...?

When I tried installing any S8 APKs I would get the package with the same name error, so here's what I did to be able to install all the S8 APKs I wanted.
1: I put all the APKs I wanted to install on my SD card
2: I used Samsung Cloud to backup my phone (apps, data etc...) but I backed up my Whatsapp chat using Whatsapp chat backup
3: I turned off my phone and booted into recovery and did a factory reset
4: When phone booted back up, I went through all the prompts without adding any accounts(Google, Samsung, etc), I didn't even connect WiFi
5: I opened My Files and opened the folder on my SD card with the S8 APKs
6: I first installed the S8 Launcher, then went into settings/apps/Touch Wiz Home and cleared data
7: Returned back to my S8 APK folder and installed the rest, then rebooted my phone
8: Added my Google & Samsung account and restored from my Samsung Cloud backup, my phone returned the exactly the way it was before I reset it, all missing apps were reinstalled, homescreen were set back up the way they were and all S8 APKs installed are working fine.

I agree... I don't want to factory reset my phone just to get the weather widgets...
I will wait to see if/when new apks of them will be uploaded on apk mirror or wait until a more experienced member finds a way to do it.
The closest I got was that by altering the package names of the apks using apk editor pro, I managed to install the s8 weather widgets as separate apps. So when I was searching through my widgets I could see both the s7 weather widgets and the s8 weather widgets. But unfortunately, when adding the s8 widgets on my home screen, they just stayed there saying "loading" and never loaded any city or time/date etc...

I have package disabler pro. Could you please explain step by step how to do it?
Should I just disable ALL the pink lined (bloatware) apps? Should I also clean the cache of the apps? Should I restart...?
Any help will be appreciated.
Also keen on finding this out , I am running DQCJ and have the same issue too with installing the s8 launcher

Why some s8 apps install and others not?

I have been having a hard time to understand why some of the S8 apps from apkmirror install just fine even after the April or May security patch, and others not.
And I am talking about the same app but different versions/updates of it.
For example:
The S8 AOD apk version 2.6.77.4 installs just fine even after May security patch. The versions after that or before that get the conflict error.
The S8 Touchwiz Home version 6.1.09.2 installs just fine even after the May security patch. Some versions before it get the conflict error.
Could a programmer or a more experienced member use a program like apkEdit, and try to find out what is the difference in the above versions that lets them be installed?
If we find what the difference is, then we may be able to see what should be done to get all apps installed after the April/May security patch, like the s8 weather apps.
I have installed June security patch.
Both the apk mentioned above worked for me too. Later version of AOD 2.7.05 couldn't be installed as there's package name conflict.
My deduction is some version of apks might work, hence I went to try Weather app on apkmirror.
Current version installed on my S7 Edge is 1.4.34-1 after June update, so the earlier version just prompted "file corrupted" when installing, and the only version available on apkmirror can't be installed.

Blocked from installing GMSinstaller

Hi all, I have a Mediapad M3 lite 10 (BAH-W09) obtained in China. It's currently running Emui 5.1.3 and Android 7.0 u rooted. Im currently trying to install a Google system on it for work purposes. I've tried using GMSinstaller but the whole apk is blocked. [App may damage your device, installation forbidden]. There is no option in the security menu to prevent checks on apks. I've also tried to manually installing the framework and play services but the play store still asks to install the core GMS packages. Is there a work around for this?

When I switched off and on the external sources/third party app radio buttons, there was an option to "Enable external sources app to scan..." that was enabled by default. I disabled that tick box and it never checked any APK's again.
Hope this works for you.
