I am applying a theme to my new OnePlus 5
First I am finding that it is asking me for another .99 ?? Why I don't know (maybe you can help, even though that isn't my ?)
When I apply MIUI 8, and even ELEGANCE (Like S8), and others, the dock icon and only the dock icon is larger than all others, no matter where you put that icon
Since it happens with multiple themes, I might assume it is a problem / new setting in Nova
Any suggestions would be appreciated
(I apologize if this is not where this goes, but since I am dealing with a type of theme I put here. Feel free to move)
Gnight all
Eric

Hey guys,
I'm an Android n00b, and this is my attempt time using a TouchWiz full time. While it's *okay* for most of the time, I have questions regarding the general difference between AOSP builds and Samsung's. Particularly regarding the lockscreen.
I notice the lockscreen behaves differently on the S4 than the AOSP builds (or other manufacturers for that matter?).
1) When I have secure lockscreen enabled (passcode, pattern lock, etc.) I loose access to multiple widgets. I know this is the intended behaviour, but is there a reasonable explanation as to why Samsung chose this behaviour?
2) is there a mod so I can use both secure lockscreen and multiple widgets? Also, is there a mod that will save me the annoyance having to press "Enter" after punching in the passcode? It should automatically accept the passcode (like in CynogenMod/other AOSP, and iOS)
3) if the lockscreen can't be modded; then what's the best lockscreen replacement that'll play nice with TouchWiz (as in, the widgets, etc.)
I've looked at:
1) MIUI Locker (tried it, it's OK. Looking for a better alternative)
2) AOSP Lockscreen (have not tried it, not sure if this would work on 4.2.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2059567)
Suggestions?

Have you already tried LockerPro?
So far the best for me on JB.
Widget Locker also worth a look. I've not seen Locker Pro, so I will check that out myself!
WidgetLocker works quite well for me.
Thanks for the suggestions! I tried both!
LockerPro didn't work for me; but the Lite version did. I even rebooted; removed the Lite, rebooted, reinstalled the Lite. No go. Oh well… good thing all that happened within the span of 15 minutes ;P.
WidgetLocker isn't bad! Not quite my cuppa tea, but that seems like my best option.
Also tried Go Locker. Way too bloated, sluggish, unpolished.
Is there anyway I can chuck in an AOSP lockscreen?
Hi all,
Sorry, I'm a long time reader, but new poster to the forums, so I cannot actually add this to the appropriate dev thread. I am having the same issue as described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41419120#post41419120
Unfortunately, the issue is a little bigger than just what is shown there, so I will be as specific as possible.
1. Using the Trebuchet launcher that comes with CM10.1, if I load a standard (non-live) wallpaper, while a standard wallpaper is currently being used, I get the results shown from the other post. If I select a live wallpaper first, and then select a standard wallpaper, it displays correctly. This would be sufficient enough work around, however, the working space in Trebuchet with the device in portrait does not resize properly, so there are huge gaps at the top and bottom of the homescreens that cannot have icons / widgets placed. This is a major usability issue.
2. Using a third party launcher, like Apex or Nova, the wallpapers always have the shown issue, however, they provide the full workspace for placing icons and widgets onto the device. Nova appears to behave a little better, but the visual layout makes things appear very phone like (icons appear somewhat magnified - not quite sure how to describe this, but I will try to get some screen captures to include here in the AM).
Overall the device behaves perfectly with these few exceptions. Unfortunately this is my wife's device, and she is less tolerant of finnicky behavior (she's been living with an iPhone for her last phone cycle, so is tired of the finnicky behavior). Unfortunately, the only response I've found to the previous poster was "Use a different launcher", so I'm hoping someone out there has some other ideas suggestions!
P.S. After doing a little further messing around, I downloaded a random large sized wallpaper image and tried using it - in Trebuchet, it appears to load correctly, as it does in Nova. In Apex, it almost looks right, but along the very bottom, there is a thin line, just a couple of pixels high, where you can see a very similar thing to what is shown in the other post, where it almost looks like part of the image is being duplicated and shifted to the right.
cliff notes: you cant change the lock screen icons or remove them at all.
so it seems the biggest gripe i have with this phone, albeit, not a huge gripe.....
you cannot pick and choose which icons show up on your lock screen tray. it reflects what you have in your unlocked home screen tray.
so if you dont want any icons in your lock screen, then you have to remove them from your homescreen tray.
i have seen many videos of other HTC phones that you can personalize the lock screen, however, on the 816 you do not even have that subfolder for lock screen personalization.
i cannot even remember the last time that i wasnt able to customize the lock screen with whatever icons i wanted to show up or none at all (which is my preference). I guess LG is a little more flexible about this one than HTC.
it has been confirmed per HTC online chat.
do keep in mind, i have no plans on rooting or running a customer rom, nor do i want to hear anyone saying i should, because you're wasting your time.
this isnt something i should have to hack my phone for or to install a launcher or separate lock screen app to do this.
this phone is limited in storage and i shouldnt have to load it up with this crap.
Thread cleaned. People argue over the stupidest stuff on the internet. Everybody take a breather and let it go.
Customization on stock HTC ROMs has gone backwards for years. I've been an HTC user for almost four years and remember when lockscreen shortcuts could be changed, but they've been unchangable separately from the tray since Sense 4. So, it's not just this phone. And I agree it is a step backwards although I think removing skins was a step backwards in customizing HTC phones too. But, I guess that's their choice.
I tried to find a way to remove them, but the only option would be to remove them from the launcher and then use a different launcher which you don't want to do.
If you had wanted to add an app without running a custom launcher or lockscreen, you could enable widgets on the lockscreen. On my HTC One, you go to Settings, Security, Enable lock screen widgets (I'm sure yours is similar). You could then add a widget to whatever app you want (assuming one is available).
Thanks for cleaning up the thread, it certainly needed it. Also thanks for actually giving an adult type response. These responses is what you should look for in a forum not the ones that were deleted from this thread.
the HTC phones I had were before sense 4, I've been on an lg phone kick lately and they've been great. But I came across the 816 phablet and it seems exactly like what I wanted. This issue is a very small one and won't cause me much frustration other than the fact that I don't want them there. But I do use them because they are there, but my preference is that they were not.
OK, this isn't really for OP because he doesn't want to root but for anyone else that wants to use different apps on the lock screen...
Install the Xtended Settings module for Xposed. That will allow you to accomplish what OP wanted. Xtended Settings along with Sense6 Toolbox will allow you to change EVERY DAMNED THING on your Desire 816. And by everything I honestly mean it. I don't think I've found a color or setting that couldn't be changed.
Make sure you have a backup before you play around with things though because there is a lot and if you just play with it and test different things you might forget how to set it back.

Nice find. I've heard of Sense 6 Toolbox but not Xtended settings. It's unfortunate that rooting is the only way to change things.
will it let me get rid of the battery saver mode notification icon?
Hey folks!
I've recently updated to Oreo and realized that if I change the icons through the samsung theme store the preinstalled apps(maps,chrome,drive,playstore..) has that same rounded cornered touchwiz crap look and arent changing. On nougat this wasnt a problem,I changed to another icon pack and if the app wasnt themed it would go back to app's default icon. I cant even force the app's default icon(like youtube staying in an ugly white bubble).
Also, I tried turning off icon frames, without luck. The mentioned apps stayed the same
Any advice?
Apperently google apps don't change the frame
That are the beautiful "Adaptive Icons", another great idea of Google. All developers have to include different shapes of icons now, and Google itself is lazy af and just puts a white border around them to match the shape of the other icons. Can only be changed in custom launchers with icon packs unfortunatly...

Thanks for the explanation.
Hopefuly Google will provide the correct icon pack (same for LinkedIn I've noticed). Those white frames look very bad
I was having the same issue. In past used "Icon Changer". This also stopped working. Strongly recommend using "Adapticon" play store. Can add widgets that act as app shortcuts. On home screen and in dock. I think it will do the trick.

Wait, you mean it doesn't just work like it used to? That feels like a step backwards.

Technically adaptive icons are supposed to come with built in functionality for notification badges too (vs the add ons that Nova could do if you let it, this would be native to the OS) and that was going to be "their advantage" but yeah, they're so ugly.
Everyone I've seen likes the unique shapes that Android app icons could have. It gave them personality AND it was easier to find an app by sight then it is now. Before you could quickly pick out a well-known app just from its outline. Now we've lost that ability with the loss of icon shapes.
Stupid move on Google's part.
Hi guys,
After updating my LG V20 to android 8 the icons are always rounded square shape (specially Google & LG apps) even if I change it to original shape in the settings. Any idea or solution to this problem?
I don't want to install custom ROM & icon packs. I want my phone clean from these junks.
Guess its the compulsory new look courtesy google

I can feel you. I also want the nougat design back
Anything in the app store close to it, like one of the Nougat Icon packs?
For the time being I switch all icons to rounded square until someone find solution
