So I have a 2016 Gear VR (the dark grey one) that I got with my GS7. I got a GS8 about a month ago and used it several times with the Gear VR, so it worked at some point. However, for some reason, now, the Gear VR simply doesn't recognize my GS8. I plug it in but nothing happens. The Gear VR still works fine with my GS7, and with my wife's GS8, so I know it's not the Gear VR - it has to be something with my phone.
I'm on Sprint, stock, no root or anything out of the ordinary, really. Thus far, I've tried:
1. Uninstalling/reinstalling all of the Gear VR/Oculus apps
2. Booting into Safe Mode and trying
3. Wiping the Cache Partition
None of which has worked. Also seemingly slightly related, but nothing else (aside from power) works in the USB-C port - no OTG, no peripherals (mouse, keyboard, etc).
Any ideas (other than a hard reset, which I'm trying to avoid)?
So I went ahead and did a hard reset and....nothing. WTF?

I don't suppose you got this sorted did you? I just got a Gear VR today, and have a very similar issue: plug it in and nothing, but also, plug anything else in and not very much. I've used the port to charge wireless headphones in the past, so I *think* it's working (and of course, it connects as a slave device to my laptop fine), but wondering how I can get it to work again!
I tried ChainFire's USB tester app, which indicates API support, classes present, but no kernel support (and of course, when I plugged something in, that it didn't detect it, but I can't say for sure that what I plugged in would normally work in a USB OTG host, it being a thumb drive from anywhere between a year and 4 years ago).
I can, of course, do a hard reset, but not that keen if I can avoid it - and doubly so if it doesn't help!
unlock the headset there is a switch by the connector...
I am having that same issue with my s8+ it was working and now it's not
Hi just managed to get mine working again all I did was changed usb configuration in debug menu just kept changing to diffrent one last one was charge only hope this works for others too
I am in the same boat and changing usb to charge only did not help me
All right, so it is a hundred percent nailed down to the sololearn/learn Python apps. normally if I put my phone in the VR or attach an accessory it would simply not work. but if I turn on either of the two apps, close them and then put the phone in the VR or attach an accessory the phone recognizes them. I am on Koodo S8 in Canada
so the greenify app give me the permanent solution, I greenify solo learn and I have not had this problem since.

Hi. I'm very interested in this solution. I obviously have exactly the same issue. However I do not have any of those solo learn / Python apps installed.
Any suggestions would be extremely appreciated.
Cheers guys.

Hey gang. Wondering if you can help me with a strange issue I've got. I can't seem to connect my phone to my computer via USB. Wondering if anyone could help determine if there's a possibility of repair or not.

So, my USB is acting up. Has been for the last few months, where although it charges when I plug into a computer, it's not connecting to allow data transfer. I haven't been too terribly worried, this happened before then cured itself when I did a factory reset. The thing that usually triggered it was when I tried connecting to my linux box in media player mode. The phone would just kinda lock up, I'd have to restart it and then USB wouldn't connect. But after doing the factory reset it was fine the first time. THIS time however, since I'd just left it stock now I'm itching to flash a custom rom but even though I've wiped the whole stupid phone totally clean, it still won't connect. I'm trying to follow a method on an article on dkszone.net called "Bypass E - Signature Verification Fail Issue On Vibrant Android 2.2".
So it seems I need USB for the debug mode.
What I think my main problem is, and where I need some help, is that I had purchased a super cheapwad USB car charger off of amazon for like 35 cents. Every time I connected to it, my phone would ask me if I wanted to connect using kies, media player mode, or data storage mode. I thought it was annoying but didn't really think it would harm anything. But now that I'm thinking about it, it's probably been pumping 5v into each pin on the USB port, whereas the USB functionality uses probably 3.3v, and I'm afraid I cooked something.
The random part here though is that about 5% of the time it does (sortof) connect. It brings up the USB options when I want to connect, brings up the icon saying it's using debug mode, etc. But my machine just reports that it didn't recognize the USB device. So, I'm thinking it's on the fritz, but figured I'd check here to see if I could possibly find a ray of hope.

You can use ADB over tcpip. There's many a free widget to enable it on google play or Do it manually
Thanks for that, I had been wondering if there wasn't a way to do that over wifi. My issue is that sadly I haven't even rooted the phone. ADB over WiFi requires root, whether I do it manually or use one of those super sweet apps.
So anyways, guess what?
My brother in law has the same phone I do, and I grabbed his phone one day and plugged it into my computers and had the same problem as with my own, and I know he hadn't plugged into the same charger I had, hadn't tried the media mode on Linux like I had (which were what I thought were the big contributing factors). SO, I kept digging, found that I hadn't quite yet cleaned it properly. I'd tried my best to clean it but until I swabbed it well with some rubbing alcohol it wasn't as clean as it should've been.
Long story short, I'm backing everything up so I can start flashing roms.
Moral: just clean the dang thing really well
Hello!
Does anybody know details or have experience with the Ordro SW16 3G?
Clone of imacwear M7?
Thanks
Omate/Pearl derivative.
certainly worth the 78 dollars
HI guys,girls
i just receiced the ordo phonewatch today and played with it for a few hours and everything works fine
it has a small screen and have rather big fingers but i still managed to type some messages and i think you have to practice a bit and get used to it
it works.
i called my father to test the phone part and is working very well , speaking with normal voice is clear to hear on the other side and the sound reproduction is quite decent and loud enough to
engage in normal conversation like with a normal fullsize smartphone
the software is sometimes leggy and also the screen is also no so responsive maybe it is because of my fingers i have a lot of callus and with casual
fingers it will work better
the installed software for hartmonitor works with sofware and the camera that did not work at all i had a hartrate of 260 superman??
It can be very usefull and handy and can be a lifesaver in a critical situation that`s for sure.
They claim that the watch is really dust and waterproof and i can say it is well build, i did not submerged the watch in a bowl of water to try it out,but i am confident that the watch will survive a shower
If u want to use this watch as a workhorse on daily basis this watch is certainly not for you and not recommended, it is a nice gadget and for the 78 dollars i payed for is worth the money
you are able to make decent phonecalls and will be always available without carrying a phone and can ideal for sports or other acitivity`s and situations where carying a full size phone is not so conveniant

Just got the ORDRO SW16 from Gearbest. Here's some first impressions:
1. Well built, feels good on the wrist, screen is decent and battery life (on WiFi/BT, don't have a SIM) is good as well.
2. ROOT is difficult to obtain. MTKDroidTools fails, Kingroot, Framaroot and Towelroot all fails. It wasn't until I tried Kingo Root is that Root was attained.
3. BE VERY CAREFUL when using that cradle. You can probably damage the watch by placing it on the cradle slightly tilted when it's plugged in. To elaborate, I cradled the watch and I put it at an angle, misaligning the cradle pins for an eighth of a second. Power probably went wrong way into the watch and caused a sudden shutoff. After reboot, the watch no longer recognizes the PC it is connected to, and my Windows 7 Laptop kept saying "USB Device Malfunctioned." I gave up on it, thinking I fried the USB chip, but it wasn't until 24 hours later that the USB port worked again! It was a scare. Make sure to cradle the watch properly first, then plug in the USB cord. Then unplug the cradle, before taking off the watch to prevent accidents.
4. It comes with Play Store and Google Play Services.
5. The Magnetic Compass is rather finicky and you have to hold it in weird angles to work. The GPS Antenna also acts weirdly and takes a while to get positioning.
6. Encryption is supported! You can Encrypt the phone storage, but you somehow can't encrypt the MicroSD Card from what I see. If there's an ADB Command to enable SD Card Encryption, can anyone post here?
I've been messing around with this watch for a few days now.
I am able to install TWRP and downgrade to Android 4.2 (to avoid 4.4 bugs).
I also managed to install SuperSU and Root Explorer but this does not work very well. Mostly because the screen is too small and the SuperSU Grant/Deny Prompts are obscured by the screen. Even after a workaround, Root Explorer is also limited since the screen isn't big enough to show the buttons at the bottom so you can't assign file permissions.
I will be attempting to mount the SD Card as Internal Storage, then encrypting the watch. Hopefully the "Internal Storage" (aka. SD Card) would also be encrypted as well.
Maybe I should write details how I did this or dump my 4.2 ROM for others to try? I still have not found a fix for the stuck compass needle.
Update.
I'm convinced the compass is defective. I've loaded the official ORDRO Rom, the iMacWear 4.2 ROM, iMacWear 4.4 ROM, some generic clone ROM (x01) and tried root and other variables in between.
None makes the internal compass work, it remains stuck. If you jiggle the watch hard enough or you tilt it in specific ways, you'd get small jumps of the compass working before getting stuck.
Right now I am going to try to reload the original ORDRO ROM to check functionality, then I will attempt to flash the Truesmart ROM. I've read that this is a bad idea, but at this point I am willing to try anything as I got the hang of recovering from bad flashes.
FINAL Update.
Truesmart ROM Freezes on startup. Reverted to Stock Firmware. Compass still stuck.
I think that's it for this experiment. I've wasted too much time trying to see what ROM would unstick the sensor. At this point I am going to return it since it's technically defective.

Hello, I'm sorry but I no longer have the original backup, and no longer have the watch.
its ok i am using the m7 custom firmware now ,maybe one day the original rom will be available online someday
thanks for the fast reply

I know this is an old thread, but....
I was wondering if anyone has been able to install Google+ on this with any other ROM other than the factory?
I have Google+ working, using the location sharing so I know where my son is . I was getting an error about missing shared libraries before.
I first made a backup using MTK Droid Tools: http://www.chinaphonearena.com/foru...up-MTK6592-MTK6589-MTK6577-and-all-MTK-Phones
I then made flashed the recovery following this guide: http://www.gizbeat.com/5786/how-to-make-create-twrp-mt6592-mt6582-mt6572-mt6589-mt6595/
I cautiously ignored the oversized recovery error, it still worked. Afterwards I used the Power Menu app to reboot into recovery and flashed the kk gapps. Google Plus worked fine after that.
Hello. Does anyone know if the Ordro SW16 can be linked with a cell phone and receive notifications when calls and texts come in? Can you make a call from watch using Bluetooth? Thanks.
Hello. I have the same qüestion. Have you solved the problem for linking with a cell phone?.
Thanks.

Hello, the battery of my ordro sw16 is consumed in 12 hours without using it and in standby. I bought new battery and it lasts the same, 12 hours. I have restored it from the factory and it has not been solved. The charger works well, the problem is that some of the smartwatch makes the battery is consumed and I do not know what it is. Can anybody help me?
Thank you
A friend of mine bought an S5 off eBay and, 2 days later, dropped it from the height of less than 2 feet, in its lifeproof case. The screen stopped turning on. The capactive buttons still work and you can hear audio feedback (even somehow managed to enable talkback that won't shut up) but you can't see anything. No dice getting into recovery or fastboot. Of course, the device is unrooted and untampered with, to the best of my knowledge. She took it to the Samsung Store and they hooked it up to a computer and did something which made the screen work again, so she factory reset it, but then apparently touching the corners of the screen made it go yellow. She restarted the phone and the blank screen persisted.
I have zero experience with Samsungs so I decided to play with this thing till she manages to return it. Updated to Lollipop (via Kies3), nothing. I even tried to take screenshots to view on the computer and navigate that way but it wouldn't take screenshots. My plan was to enable debugging and take it from there, but obviously I'm unable to do that. I looked into screenmirroring but the best bet seems to be Samsung's own SideSync utility, but that requires the Android app to be installed phone-side, which is obviously impossible at the moment.
Any suggestions welcome. Best case scenario I obviously hope to be able to fix the phone myself, but if not, then at least familiarize myself with this scenario if all else fails (tinkerholic. Also I refuse to be out-teched by a Samsung Store employee). I've heard of Z3X and NsPro but I obviously don't plan to invest in their hardware. However I am confident that there has to be an adb solution of sorts, so my first challenge is to enable USB debugging.
If she's registered her Google (playstore) account details on the device, then she can visit playstore through a pc and when she installs an app via pc it will get installed to the device.......
At least, that certainly used to be the case, as in the past, I've done just that...

I JUST got a replacement v20 (like literally sent back my first V20 on thursday) for a v20 that wasn't quick charging. And I left it on top of a car when pulling out of a gas station and it fell off and promptly got run over. First cellphone I've ever actually broken or even cracked a screen on. So annoying.
Anyway, the phone was still working using my bluetooth headset but I didn't realize and the battery died shortly after. I'd like to try and backup a few things on the phone before switching over to my insurance replacement (specifically let Whatsapp backup automatically run at 3am and backup SMS messages) but I have the PIN required on restart option set. Everything I find online about getting an android phone unlocked with a broken screen seems to be talking about the screenlock and not the PIN on restart feature. Before I go buy an OTG breakout cable to use a mouse and HDMI monitor will that even work with PIN on restart? Can I connect to the phone with ADB before it actually boots into android (and set the USB connection as something other than only charge; not even sure I've set USB debugging yet since the phone is so new for me)?
It won't be the end of the world if I can't get into the broken phone, my photos are automatically backed up to Google drive, all my contacts, emails, tasks, calendar etc are cloud based (exchange server or gmail). Really the only thing I'd lose would be SMS's since last week, whatsapp since last backup, and my call log. But that would be really annoying to my pseudo OCD; I have an uninterrupted record of every text message I've ever gotten since treo in 2004.
Any help much appreciated.

I can't say for sure if it'll work or not but if it were mine the first thing I'd personally try would be (which you mentioned) an OTG with a USB keyboard or mouse. I'm crazy OCD myself so I know exactly what you mean about your unbroken backup of messages, I've basically done the same thing and like you said it wouldn't be the end of the world if I had to miss some.. but it would still suck nonetheless! Anyway hope it works out with ya.

Thanks. yeah I ordered an OTG adapter for HDMI and USB off amazon. Figure if it doesn't work for this, at least it's a good thing to have. And if it doesn't work at all for the V20 amazon'll take it back.

I'm pretty positive that the OTG adapter will at least work in general (not sure if it'll work for your situation but hopefully it does) because I basically made my own OTG adapter and it works just fine with mine. I made the adapter years ago by cutting off the female end of an old usb extension cable I had and splicing it together with the male end of an old micro usb cable, and then to use it with this phone all I had to do was plug the micro usb end into a usb c adapter and it still works just like it should. So I'd say if my Frankenstein setup still works then you shouldn't have a problem with yours at all lol.

Did it work?
So I have to know... did it work? I have the identical issue. Dog ate my phone, I have a PIN unlock on reboot, no display. I really want to make a backup of my settings before I wipe because I've finally got the phone the way I want it.
Hey man, sorry for the late reply. It did not.
Been facing this issue for over a month now, tried every solution available on the internet, drying, cleaning the port, alcohol, clearing cache, etc etc etc
Even after i recieved the update to android 10 it didn't fix the issue...
I asked samsung they told me backup the device and leave it, and they will try changing the charger port and format it and see if it works (yes they are guessing), and since my warranty had expired i will be paying for it of course..
Glad i have a wireless charger for now ...
But had anyone faced the same issue ? And what have you done to fix it?
Should i try hard resetting the device?View attachment 4981413

Don't worry !
1. Turn off your phone
2. Plug the charger
3. Turn on the phone with charger connected
?
Tried that already didn't work

Had this error on my S7, S8 (Both Exynos if it matters). Ended up selling both because of same issue. Now I fear same for My S10+ Exynos.
S7 one plainly refused to work no matter what I did.
S8 one however used to work fine If I placed it on charge during safe (boot) mode. Have you tried doing same for S10+?
Tried that also, didn't work

I had the same error. It won't let you charge or do anything else with cable. Like you I tried all the solutions mentioned in the internet. None of them will work. This is a software bug that is delivered to my by Feb Update. There are ways you can charge the phone via USB Cable if you turn off the phone and and plug in the cable while holding power and volume down key. My problem was bit strange as well even in Download mode, My PC/ Mac would not detect the phone. Even when the phone was working in normal mode PC would not detect it. I has to uninstall the third party apps which solve the PC problem.
I did go through Samsung online chat help. All they do is tell you the same thing that you can on the internet and what you have already done.
If you can install the Stock Rom version that was released recently that has solved my problem. For carrier specific updates I believe you have to wait a bit longer.
Here is my forum post for which I sought help for.
Has any one actually verified that there port is clean. Type C ports are tendant to collect pocket lint and debris then get pack in daily. This debris will actually retain moisture.
The bottoms of the ports should be silver metal. If you can't see metal plating it's dirty. I would try cleaning my ports with say a fine sewing needle and check that as well.
Try this hopefully it works.
To clear the warning
Go to settings
Go to apps
Click the three dots in the top right
Click show system apps
Scroll down to USB settings app
Once open click on storage
Click both clear storage, and clear cache
Restart your phone
Moisture warning should be gone.
I literally tried everything on google, youtube, this thread, xda
Nothing worked until i got the update 2 days ago

Nothing helps for me, I have moisture error 4 months all the time. I tried everytyhing:, vol down power and cable combination, clear usb settings, system android etc, I opened the phone, tried to drying usb port and all motherboard with dryer, nothing helps, also i changed firmware by odin, still no results.
If this error does not go away after cleaning the port, then you need to have the port replaced. No other way around it.

I'm having this "Moisture detected" problem with my S10e for about a month. Tried every solution I found on the web and nothing worked.
What worked for me: Connecting the phone to a USB-C PD charger (or USB-C on PC) this didn't make the annoying alarm to sound but also won't charge, reset the phone while USB-C charger connected, "moisture detection error" disappeared. Connect USB-A charger and it will charge.
I don't know why now it charges only via USB-A. Probably because USB-C uses another charging algorithm.
