Hey guys, I was enjoying and relaxing while watching it the public toilet. Suddenly the volume went up and screen froze while sound was playing in full and making the person next to me STICK his head under the small gap on the door. I manage to put the volume down, however screen still same. PLEASE help me. The screen where is froze is really dirty.
Firstly, why were you watching porn in a public bathroom? Secondly, try force restarting it by holding bixby, volume down, and power until the screen goes black, then press the power button to start it up.

That method should definitely work. But yeah, you've voluntarily opened yourself up to all sorts of questions here
OP is a known troll. This is an example of him crying 4 pages because of buying fake S8. Looks like your fake S8 malfunctioned. It looks like he's trying to damage Samsung's reputation. Tip for the next time: excessive formating (bolds, red colors) make you less believable.

Basically, it is as if the top volume button is held down, and the volume is continuously going up on my HD, even when I try to turn it down, it shoots back up again, and is stuck on the volume screen. Sometimes, if I turn it down to silent, it will stay silent for a few seconds, then the volume goes up again and keeps going up.
Really annoying as it means the phone is basically unusable as I'm pretty much always trapped in the volume screen!
Any ideas?
I would suppose that a button is stuck!
Take of the back cover and take a good look at the buttons to see if anything could be wrong!

That's what I thought, but it looks fine to me
I had the same problem as you but I then realize that when I was putting down the volume while in a conversation was my face pressing the screen and increasing again the volume...could it be your same problem?

Nope, because it happens if I don't touch the phone and just leave it on the table
Have you tried a hard reset?
Do a backup first.
Turn off the phone. If you can't pull the battery out.
Hold the volume up + down at the same time then press the power on button for about 1 second. Let go of the power button while keeping the volume up and down still pressed down.
You should see a blue / green / red screen then just follow the instructions on screen.
If this doesn't solve your problem then most likely something is keeping your volume up button depressed internally. Take it back for repair...
The volume slider malfunctioning is a big one on HTC devices known issues. I've had the same problem with my elf....and I've seen plenty that do too. Your best bet would be to take it to an authorized service rep. Sucks I know
Try to remove the cover and use it... the pressing mechanism is on the cover...

Tried that, still the same problem.
I'm going to try a hard reset today, if I still get the problem, going to ask Orange to replace it. I wonder if they'll let me pick another phone, I'm getting a bit fed up with the HD!
I have the same problem, it occurs randomly and I discovered that if I quickly press the power button to stand by the phone and press it again to exit from stand by, the volume bug disappears and phone starts working well again. I thought it was a software bug but I still have it on 1.19. It rarely happens now on 1.13 was more frequent.
Has anybody have the same problem I have with the DHD volume button? My device has the bottom part of the button jutting out a little bit, and I am worried it might fall off. I have only had this phone for 2 and a half weeks, so before considering an exchange, has anybody had the problem and fixed it? I would hate to take the button off and not be able to put it back on properly.
Can you take pic and upload it?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I had the same problem. I sent mine back to Phones4u after about a week.
Whether it would have fallen off or not, I don't know - but as mine was like that after a week or so I didn't want to take any chances.

Here are the pictures, hope they're good enough quality.
Mine's the same, it's going back when vodafone get more stock.
I also noticed the top of the screen clicks and creaks as if its loose.
Mine is the openmarket version and vodafone only have the branded handsets in stock anyone know the difference?
Just return it.
Hi all,
I've my phone about a month now and I have almost the same problem with the volume button.
Actually it isnt that bad as the pictures above but you can definetally feel that the vol-down button sticks a litle bit out while the vol-up is very hard to press.
(The powerbutton is also hard to press but that seems to be with everyones phone)
It seems HTC is very bad in making hardware buttons, I had also button problems with my Touch HD and my HD2!
What do you recommend me? Should I return it or not?
Ps for htc maybe:
The main reason why htc makes hard to press (power) buttons is to avoid acitentally turning the device on/off while its in your pocket or wathever.
I have a solution, make good easy to press CAPACTIVE (power) HARDWARE buttons.
I think that should solve a lot of problems
The bottom bit of the volume button comes out a bit too on mine but not that far!

From the pictures, i had the exact same problem. On day one, i was so happy to have the phone i looked passed it ( it was the very slightest bit sticking out ), then eventually a week later it really started coming loose, when you press volume up for example the bottom of the button would literally pop out and dangle.
In the end i arranged for a replacement the next day as i was illegible as i only had, had the phone for a week. What struck me is the elastics holding the volume rocker in place? thats the last thing i'd expect something made out of "metal" to be locking it in place.
Hi all,
i have the same problem. the volume rocker is not sticking to much out but you can definitely feel the difference between the upper and the lower side of the button. the upper side is like pushed in and kind of hard to press and you don't fell the "click" when you push the vol up. the lower side i slightly sticking out but you can fell the "click" when you push the vol down.
how do yours fell when pushing vol up?
i don't know if i should replace the device or not???
here are some pics of my problem
thanks

I returned mine and I think you should too.
Works perfectly now, but not sure if it can last 20 months as my old one broke so early. Taking the greatest of care whilst touching the volume rocker now. Kinda sad that a device so expensive has quite a few cosmetic flaws.
Exact same issue with mine i dabbed some super glue ont he plastic and the metal. Its alot better now. Seen new buttons on ebay, has anyone tried these yet? How do you install them?

In the picture you attached, the volume key lok in the correct place. However, the Aluminum or battery cover is not in the correct shape. I can see some distortion.
I read a lot of reviews about the Omnia 7 before buying one (can't have it until Christmas - I'm being good you see!) and a lot of them complained about the power button being in a place you're likely to press during a call.
My question: what happens if you press the power button during a call? On my HD (WinMo 6.5), it just goes in and out of standby but the call stays connected (so you can turn the screen on to use the keypad or switch to loudspeaker, etc). Is it the same with WP7?
My question too cause im looking to buy this phone also
I use the Omnia 7 for about 2 weeks now. Never had the problem of hitting the power button while making calls. But if I do so, nothing happens, it just turns of the screen, the call is still on. Same thing as you put your phone near your head and the sensor turns your screen off.
On other hand i "had" little problems with the back and search buttons. You can easily hit those buttons while doing other stuff. But its not as a big deal as it sounds.
Thanks very much - just what I needed. I was a bit worried as the Engadget review went on and on about the power button being just by your thumb, but it doesn't seem a big deal to me.
Edit: I thanked _ivo_ as well by accident - didn't mean it! No hard feelings

This almost put me off too. They must hold their phone in the most unusual way known to man, because my thumb sits nicely between the power & camera buttons...
The power button needs to be firmly pressed to turn off power, it would be very hard to press this unintentionally unless you hold your phone as tight as possible while calling.
Hi
Just got my Nexus last night and noticed that the power button is a little stiff like it is pushed in too far. The volume rocker seems okay though. Is this normal with the Nexus 7 2013?
Cheers
I have the same issue but with the vol down button, don't think it is normal. Mine is coming back from the sat, hope they have solved it too.
Yeah, both my power and volume buttons are kinda stiff..
Thanks for the reply's guys
I guess I can live with it as it is functioning properly. It's just I don't feel that little click when I press it so have to double check especially when first turning it on.

You might take a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2442121. It explains how to clean manufacturing glue that tends to seep under the buttons during assembly. It may be more trouble than it is worth, but it might be worth looking into if the problem really annoys you.
I had similar experiences with my previous tablet, the ASUS TF700T. The power button and the volume buttons were totally stiff. I almost returned the tablet. But after pressing them quite a few times, it got a little better and finally the stiffness was completely gone.
Alternatively you can use ElementalX kernel with sweep2wake and doubletap2wake features.
Hey all,
So my dad dropped his phone and the screen appeared damaged. Tore apart his phone and it turned out the plug for the screen was just loose. Fastened the LCD plug down and put a tiny dab of super glue to keep it in place. Works great now! Cool, I thought
I cannot for the life of me put the case back on and the power button stay in place. I have no idea why, but it seems like I push on the edge of the power button and it goes into the phone, the other edge comes out, and the power button falls out.
I've watched multiple videos and the power button looks exactly the same. Anyone have experience with this or advice?
I don't know what I did but it seems to have worked. I still don't understand what went wrong the first dozen times I closed the phone up because the power button would not stay in
