[LOOKING FOR TESTERS] Custom kernel for AOSP based ROMs - Honor 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello everyone, I would like to start working on a custom kernel for AOSP based ROMs on the Honor 8, but I don't own the device. If you are interested write here "I'm in" and I'll start working on it.
Feautures will be:
alucard governor
blu_active governor
darkness governor
joypad support
Apple filesystem(s) support
Obviously I'm not bounded in any way to begin or conclude development

I'm in bro.

Somehow I'm not able to compile OpenKirin's kernel sources
Edit
Compiled with no modifications, now I'll start to customize

I'm in ,i will help u in my weekends

@DigiGoon can you test?
Just flash in TWRP no wipe needed.

Anyone tested?

I want to test, but sadly right now I can't. OP I have one request though. Can you make our cores so that 4 are always online with the other 4 asleep, waking them up only when needed?

Alucard governor does more or less this, it saves battery without reducing a lot performance

Flo MIUI is in testing

Just to let you guys know, MIUI is planning on doing an official release for Flo with a specialized tablet UI. They are still looking for beta testers. I am one of them. If all goes well we will hopefully be getting official MIUI support with a pretty tablet UI.
There's still 35 slots open.
Only requirement is you need 50 forum credits to apply.

Touch issues has nothing to do with ROM, it's hardware (grounding) problem.

Is the ROM multilanguage?
SuperSU included in ROM or we need to flash it separately?
It's based on Android 4.4.2 ?

No supersu, and no permission app,(if you are familiar with miui you know this is the settings to give root access to apps) so you can't gain root

Surely it would have less features than stock because I can imagine that there are some closed source items that wouldn't be available. Or am I seeing this wrong.
Will this work with all variants of victara, or will it be limited to pure edition/GSM? I have a US Cellular XT1093 but am super interested in having a custom stock kernel!

[HELP] Z00ED/ZE500KL CyanogenMod 12.1 ?

Hello XDA,
as you know we got bootloader unlocked and that means we can finnaly flash system files without worries about bricking the phone.
I'm a not an expert nor a developer, but building CM from source looks easy (not really needs much skill), shown in this videos I found on youtube /watch?v=qW6Lz5vogqc (part 1), /watch?v=qsZU3DuBPw4 (part 2), /watch?v=YfFefW5rK1w (part 3).
I want to do this becouse developers aren't intrested in doing this for z00e. So using this I could build the Unofficial rom, but before I start doing this I ask for some info and advices, also I'll need a device maintainer...
So my phone arrives in a day, exactly 24. june.
But don't expect the zip file soon since I have a low-end laptop, so that's going to slow the process a bit..
Can you give me some advice?
Well, good luck! I do believe that someone should start this...
Get ready for chunk gigs disk size, and because you mentioned about low spec, get ready for long time build!
Oh, if you want, there's tutorial using Google Cloud platform on xda, pretty much you can forget about size, time and spec, but in 3 months trial
Again, good luck! :good:
Sent from my ASUS_Z00RD using XDA Labs
Thank you, I'll try to get some more info till my phone arrives. I also found some guy with a "cm 13.0" branch associated with z00e on github, I'll post that github link tommorow and try to make a contact with him.
If you want, we can work together to build CM, i've a PC with Ubuntu (AMD Dual-Core 3.2 Ghz, 500 GB of storage)
Nice, I'll contact you in a couple of days, but I might try Google Cloud service for a faster compile, we'll see..
I want to be a dev too....
Few month ago i try to build cm12 for zen 4 too....
And the problem.... I can't find device-tree and how to add it on cm12.
Too hard

Bro.... Can u bring me some document how to build rom cm12.1 ?!?
I find and have more thread take it.....! But every thread have every way T.T and it not same

Okay, got my phone today, unlocked bootloader, rooted and played around him a bit, mostly watching and modifying applications with lucky patcher, installed xposed, etc...
Before that I did some search and found gits for vendor, device tree and kernel needed to compile unofficial CM 13, yes 13!
I will start the actual work in 2/3 hours.

No, no need, you got your kernel involved in the making of the rom, you'll see, you'll need kernel source, device three and vendor. You can find that on github... Go step by step on this, and you'll get the point.

thank you. I didnt get quite as high as 182k though, got like 175k give or take. everyone is different i guess?
i'm with bat rom, jesse kernel only gives me 100k and no wifi call, batstock rom gives me 165k after i changed the cpu speed from 1690 to 2310
I only got 123k without any other apps open, in performance mode, FHD+,Stock ROM, same results plugged and unplugged and also tested with WQHD+. Don't know why it's so low?
174k totally stock.

Maybe MIUI. Last time I used it it had about 5-6 hours SOT and afaik VoLTE should work as well.
But miui have many bugs.
Heyyo, I'd recommend doing something like OmniROM and then AKT Profile Project X.A.N.A battery. It will definitely put battery saving over performance. OmniROM also has confirmed working VoLTE.
Otherwise if you want a balance of battery and performance? SlimRoms latest update is good and uses bs kernel 3.6.2 with energy aware scheduling like the Google Pixel phones.
Actually SlimRoms with Greenify and root enabled is really good for battery with my latest tests heh 43% battery left and over 3 hours of SoT

Heyyo, eh official doesn't really mean much tbh other than some ROMs get their builds directly from a sanctioned build server is pretty much it.
The only ROM where the difference would be significant is OmniROM since the signed builds are Google SafetyNet Certified.
