[HELP] Z00ED/ZE500KL CyanogenMod 12.1 ? - Zenfone 2 Laser Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA,
as you know we got bootloader unlocked and that means we can finnaly flash system files without worries about bricking the phone.
I'm a not an expert nor a developer, but building CM from source looks easy (not really needs much skill), shown in this videos I found on youtube /watch?v=qW6Lz5vogqc (part 1), /watch?v=qsZU3DuBPw4 (part 2), /watch?v=YfFefW5rK1w (part 3).
I want to do this becouse developers aren't intrested in doing this for z00e. So using this I could build the Unofficial rom, but before I start doing this I ask for some info and advices, also I'll need a device maintainer...
So my phone arrives in a day, exactly 24. june.
But don't expect the zip file soon since I have a low-end laptop, so that's going to slow the process a bit..
Can you give me some advice?

Well, good luck! I do believe that someone should start this...
Get ready for chunk gigs disk size, and because you mentioned about low spec, get ready for long time build!
Oh, if you want, there's tutorial using Google Cloud platform on xda, pretty much you can forget about size, time and spec, but in 3 months trial
Again, good luck! :good:

Thank you, I'll try to get some more info till my phone arrives. I also found some guy with a "cm 13.0" branch associated with z00e on github, I'll post that github link tommorow and try to make a contact with him.

If you want, we can work together to build CM, i've a PC with Ubuntu (AMD Dual-Core 3.2 Ghz, 500 GB of storage)

Nice, I'll contact you in a couple of days, but I might try Google Cloud service for a faster compile, we'll see..

I want to be a dev too....
Few month ago i try to build cm12 for zen 4 too....
And the problem.... I can't find device-tree and how to add it on cm12.
Too hard
---------- Post added at 06:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:28 AM ----------
Bro.... Can u bring me some document how to build rom cm12.1 ?!?
I find and have more thread take it.....! But every thread have every way T.T and it not same

I found this tutorials forum.xda-developers.com/chef-central/android/guide-how-to-build-rom-google-cloud-t3360430 on xda for faster work, and this one for building the rom itself forum.xda-developers.com/chef-central/android/guide-android-rom-development-t2814763/post54118614#post54118614 and it's keeping up a detail, so you cant miss anything, and about the device tree you have a newbie version here and it has device tree info simplified forums.androidcentral.com/general-help-how/287910-guide-dev-compile-any-source-built-rom-your-device-ultra-noob-friendly.html

Okay, got my phone today, unlocked bootloader, rooted and played around him a bit, mostly watching and modifying applications with lucky patcher, installed xposed, etc...
Before that I did some search and found gits for vendor, device tree and kernel needed to compile unofficial CM 13, yes 13!
I will start the actual work in 2/3 hours.
To all ze500kl users: There is hope!

No, no need, you got your kernel involved in the making of the rom, you'll see, you'll need kernel source, device three and vendor. You can find that on github... Go step by step on this, and you'll get the point.

Yes you are going to add them to the terminal after getting sources, but you have to make a local_manifest.xml file and place link to their repo on github.

[initiative][22nd Feb] Ubuntu Touch Nexus image porting

As of tomorrow the guys over at Canonical are unveiling their Ubuntu Touch porting guide ( https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting ). This would be a prime opportunity to do a bit of homework prior to this so we are primed and ready to begin porting what promises to be a worth while user experience
I propose we pool our resources, discussing what we know about how Ubuntu Phone (Touch) works and suggestions as to how we are going to shoe-horn it on top of our already existing code bade of Kernel and Userland stuff.
Just a notion, ignore if you wish but i feel this would be a worthy endeavour.

It's released now!
Well time to seek for developers having time to port this

Thanks blizzari So what we are looking at is the Cyanogenmod 10.1 code-base minus Dalvik and the Java API. Firstly, good call Canonical, secondly what does this mean for getting things up and running on our device?
Im going to fire up my Ubuntu rig and start dicking about with the porting process to see if i cant add any relevant information here

[ROM] [FIND5] [4.2.2] [cfX-Toolchain 4.8.y+] codefireXperiment

This new Android distribution treats development differently than any other.
CLICK HERE FOR THE ROM, THREAD, CHANGELOG, AND DISCUSSION.
A post detailing our team and new developers from TeamEOS can be found in the OP linked.
ntroducing codefireXperiment for your device! This OP is going to stay slim and bloat free, just like codefireXperiment. No marketing buzzwords either. We take such confidence in the speed and performance of this distribution, we challenge you to find a faster and more stable one!
Here's a bit of info you may want on this project for how we do things differently:
No features you don't need which slow the device down, or put your data at risk of being stolen. If you want to give it away, it should be your decision.
A fast and clean install with no UX decisions made for you. You make the ROM whatever you would like.
A team constantly exploring totally new feature sets and optimizations geared toward you, the user
We utilize a plethora of optimizations in a build system unlike any other:
Each build has a toolchain built for your device at the time of build. No more generic toolchain android builds.
Consistently updated upstream toolchain module source with our custom backports, fixes, and optimizations applied in a patch at build time.
Fully built utilizing Link Time Optimization (another custom ROM first). Feel free to google this one a bit to get an idea of the performance gain.
Many repositories have code fixes, cleanups, and many minor optimizations which are too generous to even speak of here.
Optimizations are toggled on and off based on device for the best experience we can acheive for your device without sacrificing any stability
Many Qcom optimizations and AOSP master (upstream) optimizations and fixes using device specifications to determine usage.
Fully built utilizing strict aliasing and isognu++11 mode.
Full "-O3" build. To those who don't know, this is the highest "optimization level" available in gcc that sets many other flags.
Enjoy, and thank you for choosing codefireXperiment

Hard looking through that looking for pieces if you don't know the specific CONFIG_xxx name.
Anyway, in a quick scroll through, I fell over some enabled (=y) USB OTG stuff - I was under the impression the device doesn't support it?

Sorry to ask, I probably missed it somewhere... is this AOSP based, or other? Max's kernel is going on this bad boy if I try it... unless... it's already in there

Pure aosp based. For now not as many features as the other codefirex, but things are being added. Kernel is cm based with a few changes from maxwen and faux123, thanks both. Credits thread will come up.

Yes I used the default kernel and coming from CM10.1 with a full wipe. I have to say I didn't experienced a reboot after all this afternoon so maybe it was just the ROM settling down.

Nice ROM.
Voice to text isn't functioning... I was going to try the app install from the Slim ROM site, but I know that doesn't work with the CM kernel. I know it works with Max's.
Anyway, other than that it's been stable for me. Wifi tethering worked, Battery seemed good for only running it 24 hrs or so.

Don't even try building with this tree. Nothing against the tree, but you'll run into a ton of errors. And after fixing all errors, the build won't even boot up. A lot of devs already tried to build it, but all of them failed to get it booting(Although they tried all different kangs to get it booting). You can try, but I'm just saying that you'll waste your time on this. I prefer you waiting for the lollipop kernel source to be released by Motorola after the lollipop release. Then it shouldn't be a waste.
So? Any news about the development?
They are working on it

It is not flashable zip file. It is a source file for building ROM and kernel. Some people already trying to build ROM from it.
what does this mean for aosp and cyanogemod. will they be able to use the source code provided by lg to sort out hardware issues faster ?
Maybe a noobish question. Is there mentioned version number in source code (6.0 or 6.0.1)? I curious as I have Mi band and it have pairing issues whit 6.0 version. 6.0.1 seems to fix them.

Got the kernel to build, simple fix
in drivers/video/msm/mdss/mdss_mdp_trace.h
find
Code:
#define TRACE_INCLUDE_PATH .
and replace it with a full path to mdss_mdp_trace
e.g
Code:
#define TRACE_INCLUDE_PATH /home/jtrealms/android/kernel/drivers/video/msm/mdss
packaging it now for some testing
ohhhhhhhhhh what a morning I can't wait to flash soon!! I remember last year Lollipop came around this time too! seems like LG likes to release new roms just before Christmas
