Should I take OTA updates? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

I was lucky enough to read about the first Galaxy S8 update disabling our ability to remap the bixby button before I got the OTA. I then used Package Disabler Pro to disable the update service so it wouldn't bug me. I've been very happy with my bixby button mapped to launch camera on a quick press, okay google on a double press, and the flashlight on a long press.
I've started to wonder if I'm missing any important feature or performance upgrades with the new updates and I'm wondering if I should go ahead and update and start using one of the "hackier" bixby remap apps. Should I update?

Of course you should! Be glad to be getting security updates and install them (with the whole update). Bixby button remapping or disabling is not an issue.

Working Key Remapper mod/app available on S7?

I'm rooted and am a bit weary of flashing/installing Xposed (because of the fear of random reboots and what not) but want the ability to have Hold Back Button to Kill App mod/feature, among the ability to remap other hardware keys.
The All in one Gestures app works for remapping my hardware keys, if you deny the app root access. The hold back to kill app works, but when I set 'Menu' for long press recent apps key it says 'Your device is not supported'.
Basically, is there a known working key remapper app/mod that works for a rooted S7. I want the ability to remap my keys, like the long press back to kill and long press recent used apps button to open menu instead of multi-window.

Disable Broadcast/Sharing/Recording Menu? Remap Button?

I was wondering if anyone had any idea how to disable that NVIDIA Share and Record menu that pops up when you long-press the home button.
My Shield is already rooted.
As a bonus, is there a way to remap that long-press to another function?
Disabling that menu, as well as the OTA updates are the last two major tweaks I'm struggling with in my setup process.
Thanks

I am also interested in this for a slightly different reason. I would like to remap the holding of the back button to simulate a pull-down of the notifications rather than the stupid sleep menu whivh I have absolutely no use for.
I plan to root very soon so maybe there is hope for me to do this in case it's not possible to do this while unrooted...
Please use the QUOTE feature when replying to me to get my attention. Thanks!

Xposed module or custom rom that make bixby button works as camera button

Hi i want to tell a a idea to make custom rom or xposed module that make bixby button work as camera button like old sony ericcson xperia becose i thing camera button is more usefull then bixby button
There's a few apps out there, go to the Play Store and search for "Bixby". No module nor ROM needed, but root most definitely required for those apps as they disable or enable Bixby Home and Bixby Voice (I deleted both and now can't get the thing to work at all).
You can use BxActions. If you are rooted I found Button Mapper by flar2 a better solution as it does the remapping seamlessly and has single tap, double tap and long press mapping.

Bixby Remap Conflict

Hi All,
I remapped my bixby button using bxactions. All is working well. I've set it to google assist extra.
However when I go to setting phone assistance app in advanced features in phone settings there seems to be a conflict.
When I change the long press home button to firefox, it changes the the bixby buttons function to firefox also!
Ideally I want the bixby button for google and long press the home button to something else (ex. firefox). But it seems the 2 buttons cant be independent of each other.
Anyone else have this issue.

Delete Bixby and remap key?

Can the bixby button be remapped AND the bixby app be deleted (ADB) while keeping the remapped bixby key? Or do we lose the remapped bixby key option when we delete the bixby app?
Thanks!!
I know it can be remapped and I want to say ADB can remove Bixby too without it messing anything up.
I believe if you disable bixby, it will disable the button(tried). That said, button mapper by flar2 works perfectly to remap the bixby button for single, double and long press all at the same time without having bixby triggered at all, effectively removing bixby from your preipheral sight. I haven't, however, tried enabling button mapper then proceeding to disable bixby thru adb.
