Constant Signal Loss on 7.1.1 Roms after updating - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, so I was on Oxygen OS 3.5.8 before updating and installed 7.1.2 roms (clean install) and both Sim cards have been losing connectivity over and over. Ive tried flashing the modem to 3.5.6 and even 3.1.0 and then doing another clean install but the issue remains. Ive tried multiple 7.1.2 roms and its the same thing, there was no issue before installing the roms. Any help would be appreciated

i am having the same problem, now i have to go back to stock rom.

I hear network drop issue is caused by Google contacts. If true, you could use the AOSP version. You might have to reflash the rom with pico Gapps.

Really? Ive never heard of that lol. Thanks Ill try that and update it here

Wow so that did the trick, Installed halogenOS with full gapss (not stock) and no signal drops
But now I only get edge connection for data, no LTE. Any idea how to fix that now?
EDIT: Updated to OOS 3.5.6 firmware and that did the trick! All good now. Thanks Murbert

Some updates
After go back to stock oos 3.5.8, no signal loss but not LTE also, only 3g or H+
Then I reinstall 7.1.2 ROM with gapps nano , so far no problem (never install Google contact)

Another update...
So Sim connection has been good but now wifi connection drops for like 10 seconds every now and then, very annoying.
Any idea on what this might be now?

VoLTE works on OOS 3.5.6, but not on any CM14.1 ROM...

I will start right off the bat that I know it works very well on all ROMS for those that are in India. But can anyone here confirm VoLTE working on any custom Nougat ROM for those like me on T-Mobile in USA? It works flawlessly on 3.5.6, but as soon as I wipe and flash any custom 14.1 ROM, I lose it. The feature is enabled in SIM settings (Enhanced 4G LTE Mode) is enabled, but when I dial out, data switches from LTE to H. So this means even though the feature is enabled, it's not working on Nougat on T-Mobile in US.
Anyone?

Did you try clean flashing including system?
First install 3.5.6 and then clean flash any cm 14.1 ROM (especially the latest one from grarak). Volte works fine..
Is your VoLTE capable sim in Slot 1?

I've done that several times to no avail. First it was just flashing the 3.5.6 modem firmware while I was on RR 7.1.1. Then after that didn't work, I clean flashed OOS 3.5.6 and tested VoLTE and it worked as advertised with HD logo on calls and VoLTE logo in status bar. I was then happy and clean flashed (everything but internal storage) RR 7.1.1, enabled the Enhanced 4G LTE Mode, but that didn't work. I'm on Official CM 14.1 now with same result.

Yes it's in Slot 1.
Are you guys in US on T-Mobile? No offense to you guys, and I appreciate your help, but I know you got it working great on Jio in India... That might not be the case for us in US. That's why I want to hear from another T-Mobile customer to check if I'm not alone.
Thanks
In mean time I'm forced to stay on OOS 3.5.6 as VoLTE is working great on it.

Official CM 14.1 hasn't implemented Volte function yet, try the unofficial build from Grarak in basketbuild or andriod host.
As far as T-Mobile is concerned, if you do have Volte enabled in 3.5.6 (ie if you can make volte calls using oos 3.5.6, then i dont see a reason why it wont work on cm 14.1 unofficial).
Check out android development for OP2 to get the latest link from grarak.
Also slot 1 or 2 it doesn't matter. If you get Volte in oos 3.5.6 then in unofficial cm 14.1 you'll get it.
Dont know about RR though.

Just tried Grarak's latest build based on new LineageOS....still no go on VoLTE. The feature was already enabled under SIM 1 settings and as soon as I dial out LTE switches back to H
I'll try Seraph's build, but I'm afraid it will be the same... Are you on T-Mobile and VoLTE works CM14.1 for you?
Update: tried both builds, VoLTE is not working Again, it's enabled in the SIM settings, but when I dial out, LTE changes to H/H+.
I guess it's just not meant to be... I'll stick to OOS 3.5.6 for now
Thanks for your help!
Was downloading Seraph's build while on Grarak's and got a random reboot which never happened tocme before...
Have you enabled Enhanced 4G LTE Mode for the sim? That's the switch for VoLTE. Hope it worked
If the HD icon comes in the status bar and on notifications, then VoLTE is active.
Also set network type to LTE only for better use.

The problem is I had it enabled, but HD icon never comes up and VoLTE seems not to work on any CM141. ROM. But it works perfectly well on OOS 3.5.6. So I am not sure why this is the case... I guess I'll stay on OOS 3.5.6, unless another T-Mobile US user will confirm or disagree with my findings.
I know very well you guys have it working on JIO in India... this is not the case for me in USA on T-Mobile

I assume that you did a clean flash (including system wipe in TWRP) over 3.5.6. If not the network will be unstable.
In one of the screenshot posted by you (in some above thread) I can see that Volte is enabled, is it on CM or 3.5.6 ?
T-Mobile in US is supported by 3.5.6 (Which I can see from the screenshot). So the firmware got the capability of Volte..
As of now there are 2 possibilities:
1 (If you clean flashed CM over OOS 3.5.6) : Then network is not stable, Network guru app will lock the LTE band, so give it a try with that. (If you need detailed steps with Network guru i can tell you that)
2 (If not clean flashed CM over OOS 3.5.6) : Recommend you to clean flash it. This will definitely work (suggest you to go for grarak). If you face issues after this, do let me know. We can find other work around.
Hope this helps.

Hey man, first of all I wanna thank you for helping me, I know it's an annoying topic for many.
I'll answer in order.
Yes, I did a clean flash, by wiping everything except internal storage. The screenshots I posted are from OOS 3.5.6. By the way, my hybrid TWRP doesn't get overwritten, so at least I don't have a headache reflashing recovery image after everything OOS flash. Unfortunately, it hadn't worked yet... Firmware is definitely VoLTE capable as I have it working very well now on OOS 3.5.6.
As for your suggestions, I tried both builds with clean flash, but they don't work. I kind of gave up after flashing nonstop and just stayed on OOS 3.5.6.
I think you're right though, CM14.1 definitely don't have VoLTE fully functional, at least for T-Mobile users, maybe it has to due with Band 12 (700a) as this is the band used in US for enhanced LTE.
I wanna hear from some other T-Mobile use, but appears there aren't that many...
I've tried Network Guru app when I has network signal drops, but I'm a little confused how to properly use it. I don't have a magic wand button, but through menu I can get to Band locking screen and in LTE section I had everything checked off. I know in US on T-Mobile we use bands 2 (2G), 4 (3G/4G), and new band 12 (enhanced 4G/LTE). When in the past I only locked band 12, I wasn't able to make calls at all as H/H+ were not active.
I will try to see what I have working now with VoLTE enabled on 3.5.6. I do know I'm mostly on band 4 and in some places band 12.
Hope this info helps.

Weird WiFi bug on ALL nougat roms

So, i wanted to use a custom rom cuz i just love to stay close to stock android, but everytime i flash a new nougat rom on my phone, i got the same weird bug. The WiFi dropping.
BTW my phone is model 2014819.
From time to time, the wifi just loses signal and comes back after, idk, 15 to 20 seconds. This is really annoying because this causes drops in VoIP calls and WhatsApp Web keeps losing connection with the phone everytime.
I don't know why this happens on custom rom and not on stock rom. But on the other hand, on stock MIUI, when i actually loses wifi signal, like, outside my house, it wont connect to a 3G/4G connection by itself, i have to enter airplane mode and turn it off so it can connect to 3G/4G (which is annoying as well).
So there is my question, is it only with my phone? Does this have a solution?
BTW, everytime i install a new custom rom i do a full wipe before (system, data, davik and cache) and right now i'm using Pure Nexus by Rahif M, just in case you are wondering.
its an old bug .... none of our developers are able to fix it.. they are trying hard but there is no fix yet....
Oh god, didn't know about this.
Thanks for the info! Hope they can make a fix for it someday
try mi flastool so that everything will be become new in your phone. use the first released stock rom dont use the new one. just try ths method.
Yeah, this is also happening in Mi3/Mi4 custom nougat roms especially CAF based rom. This issue is not happening in Lineage based roms and Citrus caf. I have tried couple of Lineage based nougat roms in my mi4 but i haven't encounter this wifi bug in these roms.
If possible is there a temporary fix???
I guess something is wrong with our baseband. If anyone could provide Chinese ROM baseband or any different versions of basebands output might defer
Is there fix for this? Someone???

Even i have this rare bug... I first discovered it in nougat custom roms but now its following me to all oreo custom roms aswell. Im using a oneplus 3T and i havent found anyone report this bug on this device yet. Have you fixed this bug by any chance? Im so sad because i did a full wipe including the unbrick tool and still no luck with the wifi drop bug. One thing i have noticed is the frequency of the drops has minimized to a great extent. Before on nougat it was dropping once every 5 min but now on oreo 8.1 its like once every 30 mins. I just hope you found something i still have to use my 3t for a few more years.

Having a serious problem.....I'm running pixel experience ROM now but I have a tried nitrogen OS, ressurection remix ROM, Lineage OS 15.1, Viper OS (nougat), Lineage OS 14.1 and many other ROMs. Volte was working fine few days ago but for the past 3-4 days it was not working. I thought it was a problem with the ROM so I changed the ROM but still got the issue. And today I came to know that my device is showing IMS registration: unavailable
Voice-over LTE: not available and some other things
I tried messing with APNs and flashed some volte patches but still got no luck. Then I tried searching on XDA forum and know what I tried every possible method in almost all the threads and still not able to get volte. Tried searching YouTube for IMS registration and tried googling it also but still the problem is there.

Wait first delete all apns present now create new APN name:ims,APN:ims,APN type:ims that's it save it (it won't show in APN) now create your old APN settings (don't restore to deafult create the old again that's important) save and that's it if it's not rom problem it will bring ur voLTE back
Try restoring EFS in twrp back up

Maybe you need to write IMEI number again?
Does it show there when pressing *#06#* ?
U may try going back to MIUI 9
And then back to your favorite ROM
I did every single step mentioned above. Even my IMEI number is all good. But VOLTE problem reamins the same.
During the first boot...VOLTE was there, and it was working. Even when I Rebooted, it was again there and still working. But when I Power Off the device and then powered it on, VOLTE was gone and I was unable to call.

Use this trick:-
Flash any miui rom v8 or v9 & boot into system..
Now go to recovery wipe all except storage.
Now flash any custom rom i suggest lineage 14.1 & boot into system..
Now again go to recovery go to wipe , advance wipe & wipe only system
Now flash any MIUI rom then wipe cache & dalvik
Now reboot...
Volla your volte now works...
I tried 2 times & all time it works....
If it works for u hit thanks..

Network issue

Hi,
since I'm using my stock A2017G Axon i have several network issues:
I often loose the connection and the signal is not strong as it should be.
I am sure that it is an issue related with the Axon because I tried with other smartphones and the signal was strong and stable.
Now I was able to unlock the bootlooder, flash the TWRP v3.2.1-8 and I'm using the Resurrection Remix (Oreo) custom rom but the problem is still there.
What should I do to solve it? Is there anything I can try to flash?
Additional info: I live in Italy
Thanks

Couple of weeks ago I ran into a similar problem on AEX where signal strength, connection....suddenly became very bad.
I just reflashed one of the G OREO modems and all was fine again.
So i suggest you do that before anything else.
Here are a couple of G Oreo modems you can use.
Based on betaB01 (same as used in AEX, LOS15.1 and O_B12 btw) : https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=818222786056033085

Wi-Fi does not work on LineageOS 16.0 (Pie 9)

Hi guys,
Everything was working great with LineageOS 15.1 (Android 8.1), but they have discontinued the support for this version and switched to 16.0, and a FOTA update of Lineage from 15 to 16 isn't possible, so I had to download the zip manually, and flashed it using TWRP, around the end of April. Since then the Wi-Fi does not work.
I should explain what this "does not work" mean: I turn it on (either from the pull-down curtain, or from the Settings -> Network -> Wi-Fi menu), it pretends to switch on for 1-2 seconds, and then the switch turns off by itself, so it doesn't even have time to scan the available networks.
I have tried to burn a newer image again, around the beginning of May, but it didn't fix the Wi-Fi problem. I was googling a lot, but seems like nobody reports such a problem.
Any ideas how to fix it, other than going back to Android 8.1? Preferably I'd like to stay with LOS, but if I have no choice, I can consider moving to RR, or AOSP Extended or whatever.
Thanks!
I think its a boot.img problem. I have seen this error in stock too. The wifi/bluetooth used to turn off immediately after i turned them on and the error was because i flashed the wrong boot.img . If i were you i would clean flash the rom again
What do you mean by "wrong boot.img"? I don't flash any boot.img separately, I just flash the whole LineageOS rom (and then Gapps) from TWRP. Should I flash anything else? I don't think so...
Well, in my case at least the Bluetooth works properly (with both headphones and smart watch).
SOLVED!
Surprisingly, the problem seems to be solved now.
After flashing lineage-16.0-20190426 and later lineage-16.0-20190530 versions, where the Wi-Fi didn't work - today I have flashed lineage-16.0-20190704, and guess what? It is back now!
Thought it should be important to update the thread here.

It would be safer to update to stock pie first then flash custom pie roms..

You mean, even if I upgrade from Lineage 15.1 to 16 I need to flash the stock rom first? Why?
BTW I saw some reports on Wi-Fi problem while going back from custom to stock rom too, and there was some patch suggested to fix it.

Because its a prerequisite on Lineage 16, it depends on parts of stock Pie rom being installed.
The LO16 thread also listed a migration step if you didn't flash the stock Pie rom beforehand.

Probably I have missed it.
Still can't find it neither on "install" nor "update" page:

Its on the xda thread, not on the lineageos website.
Xiaomi made some changes during the upgrade from Oreo->Pie and introduced ARB. Now you cannot downgrade back to Oreo easily. Just flashing back to Oreo(stock or custom rom) will cause the phone to bootloop. For the same reason your phone probably faced issues when you flashed (Pie) LO16 without the Pie firmware.

Well, I did not try to downgrade from Pie to Oreo. All I tried to do was an upgrade from LOS 15.1 to LOS 16 (15.1 worked excellent). And I had no idea I needed to flash the stock rom in between, so I just flashed 16 over 15.1, without wiping the data partition (only wiped dalvik cache).
Can you please point me to the XDA thread you mention, where it says I had to flash the stock rom first?
Anyway, since everything works OK now (or, at least, I don't find any malfunctioning, probably except for the native camera app, so I use an external app), I don't think I should play around with it again, right?

Some parts of the firmware might not be overwritten by LOS/stock depending on the version. The original LO16 used Oreo firmware iirc. The thread is not hard to find, just look for it.
