So, i wanted to use a custom rom cuz i just love to stay close to stock android, but everytime i flash a new nougat rom on my phone, i got the same weird bug. The WiFi dropping.
BTW my phone is model 2014819.
From time to time, the wifi just loses signal and comes back after, idk, 15 to 20 seconds. This is really annoying because this causes drops in VoIP calls and WhatsApp Web keeps losing connection with the phone everytime.
I don't know why this happens on custom rom and not on stock rom. But on the other hand, on stock MIUI, when i actually loses wifi signal, like, outside my house, it wont connect to a 3G/4G connection by itself, i have to enter airplane mode and turn it off so it can connect to 3G/4G (which is annoying as well).
So there is my question, is it only with my phone? Does this have a solution?
BTW, everytime i install a new custom rom i do a full wipe before (system, data, davik and cache) and right now i'm using Pure Nexus by Rahif M, just in case you are wondering.
its an old bug .... none of our developers are able to fix it.. they are trying hard but there is no fix yet....
Oh god, didn't know about this.
Thanks for the info! Hope they can make a fix for it someday
try mi flastool so that everything will be become new in your phone. use the first released stock rom dont use the new one. just try ths method.
Yeah, this is also happening in Mi3/Mi4 custom nougat roms especially CAF based rom. This issue is not happening in Lineage based roms and Citrus caf. I have tried couple of Lineage based nougat roms in my mi4 but i haven't encounter this wifi bug in these roms.
If possible is there a temporary fix???
I guess something is wrong with our baseband. If anyone could provide Chinese ROM baseband or any different versions of basebands output might defer
Is there fix for this? Someone???

Even i have this rare bug... I first discovered it in nougat custom roms but now its following me to all oreo custom roms aswell. Im using a oneplus 3T and i havent found anyone report this bug on this device yet. Have you fixed this bug by any chance? Im so sad because i did a full wipe including the unbrick tool and still no luck with the wifi drop bug. One thing i have noticed is the frequency of the drops has minimized to a great extent. Before on nougat it was dropping once every 5 min but now on oreo 8.1 its like once every 30 mins. I just hope you found something i still have to use my 3t for a few more years.

Hello guys.
I have one Redmi 2 Prime Global with Miui 7.5.0.3 Android 5.1.1 and after it changed, thru OTA, to Lolipop the wifi got crazy.
It's connected in wifi but it, randomly, stop traffinc data. A simple put in airplane mode, fix it, but after a couple of minutes I lose the wifi again.
For the sake of the discussion, I already have searched all the internet and the mess that is the Miui forums. Some other users have the same issues but there's no information about solution.
It seems that it's a driver issue with lolipop and even the Miui 8 beta has this problems. I know because I have tried it.
I trully appreciate if anyone can help me on this issue or knows any more info about it. Thank you.

Welp. flashing Jerrica makes things better, but does not solve it.
Now my phone has a more stable wifi, but its has the same issues still and randomly reboots (something like one time in a couple of days).
Any more suggestions are welcome, as it seems that you have experienced similar issue.
This might not be the Problem but I think it is ....
Flashing MIUI Update 7.5.3 caused many a Problem ,
Like , the Navigation bar Stops working .. Volume keys Stop working , phone Reboots itself and heats like hell ...
I tried Every Method to solve it , even with a Format , didn't work ,,.. then I just reflashed the ROM and it was Gone .. if you don't want to Do a Format (dalvik/cache/data wipe) then Dirty flash it again .. but I'll say , do a proper flash , backup all your apps and data using titanium backup , upload your things to google and do a Proper flash ..
Hope it solves it , I have Experienced the problem and This Solved it in many cases apart from This too . MIUI 7.5.3 supports both 5GHz and 2.5GHz so it shouldn't be a Problem with Wifi ..

I think you should flash a fastboot rom of 7.5.3, i am out of suggestions:laugh::laugh::laugh:
Quick update, for the sake of who has the same problem.
Nothing fixed it (in any lolipop version). But last week Xiaomi published the Miui 8.6.9.29 beta, after a few weeks with a pending update for the Redmi 2 prime. With this update the wifi, finally, is fixed.
Thank you guys for the help.
Hello,
I've got custom rom (with boeffla kernel 2.4) on my SM-G900F with latest modem etc. My problem is... when i turn on wifi, after few minutes in deep sleep It's disconnecting, and after another few minutes it's vibrating and then the phone is rebooting. I'm looking for a good person, who helps me. Please PM me, some good Samaritan. I will send logs or smth... Really need help with this issue. Thank you. I'll be very grateful.
I'm not an expert or anything, but not every ROM is stable with every hardware configuration. Stability is often more important than bells and whistles. It seems this custom ROM isn't stable with your hardware. Maybe go back to Odin and try another one and see if the next one is wacky, and if so, keep trying until you can say, yep, I tried all the ones that don't work until I found a neat one that does. And if that last part doesn't happen, go back to stock rooted so you at least have a working -- and stable -- phone.
Sorry that's not what you want to hear. Just one person's input.
Clean u catches, shutdown and boot to clean sys catche's
Boot again if it stalls more tan 10 mins. Remember consider if your deodexed or pure stock... do may take 10+ minutes to rebuild catche
Change to ressurection remix or lineage os. I've never had that issue.
idk if posted some same thread but my problem is my phone suddenly reboots.
screen went off, twice vibration, then went to samsung galaxy s5 logo.
current setup: android 6.0.1 running no limits rom. all stock
sometimes it reboots then it is stock on the bootloader. i need to remove the battery and turn it on manually. using bootloader and modem of the latest recommended bootloader from the no limits rom.
(it also random reboots on stock firmware using spain which i downloaded from sam mobile firmwares)
is this a hardware issue?
edit: what i did was i upgraded my stock rom from 5.0.1 russia to 6.0.1 spain, does this affect anything? should i stick with russia?

i don't think it has to do with the battery because as long as you have power cores will work,
Do your phone gets too hot then?
I know what's going on I think. Something modified your kernel or something in the ROM is unstable. I had one that did that same thing when I used the camera. You need a better ROM. I recommend ressurection remix 5.8.3 nougat 7.1.2. No reason to be on marshmallow. And get this kernel. It fixed the camera issue and improves battery life. It's a unified klte rom.

That does not guarantee there's no bugs in your phone. Have you ever flashed a ROM or anything to your device?

[i think this was the time it started]so i updraded it to 6.0.1 but i didnt know the account cos this phone is a used phone so i did was to downgrade it to 4.4 then bypass it and it worked (still experiencing issues tho). so upgraded again to stock 6.0.1 and here i am. Upgrade to a nougat ROM. It uses the same bootloader of mm so you only need to flash a ROM. Get ressurection remix or lineage is 14.1. Nougat fixes a lot of bugs and security issues. And xtrestolite isn't the most stable ROM. I had it in my s4.
---------- Post added at 06:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:45 AM ----------
And then if you use rr get the kernel I showed you and flash that too. Please note these Roms don't come with gapps. Google open gapps and it comes up. You want arm 7.0 or 7.1. Stock if you don't mind waiting a while for it to download. I get nano to save time as it still installs the framework and playstore. It saves space and if you want something it didn't install play store will have it anyway.

Cyanogen mod is now lineage os team. Don't use cyanogen. Get lineage 14.1
If none of the software fixes work, it's your battery. Personal experiance from my S3 Mini and my S5. Don't rage over it going nuts (been there, done that) but just get a new battery.

The global trouble with all nougat firmware
Hi guys. I amn't alone, I met 10-15 users at 4pda with such problem.
We have the bug at all nougat roms by any devs with different trees...
The sleep of death.
Personally I notice it after/during mobile internet using, but I'm not sure. For long time at home(for a week, for example) with WiFi I have no troubles. But if I am anywhere without WiFi and use 3g(don't have LTE in my country), my phone "sleeps" for some times during just one day... It isn't powered off as it's needed 10-15 seconds of button pressing to turn it on at least.
As the ROM and developer has no meaning I guess that here are the errors in the kernel. @fir3walk says that here are many bugs in our nougat tree and perhaps the trouble is involved in last_dmesg... Or some system force stopes, dozes work improperly.
Not many users have this trouble but it exists an a fact. So it would be great to detect an error and try to fix it. Perhaps not in nougat, at least in new Oreo(I haven't tried it yet so no information about this bug there). We have many ROMs, they are updated for some times a week, new roms are rolling out... But the bug stays still.
If someone else has such problem, write here. Perhaps somebody has any ideas and together we will be able to find solution...
So, all the devs who can detect an error, write us... Any tests, information, logs, etc.
P.S. By the way it is impossible to write logs of powering off(deep sleeping) via logcat or another's. If I run the logging I have no "sleepOFdeath".
It is really global trouble so let's try to fix it together.
I'm sorry for your trouble.
Lets start by figuring out which device is in question
I have a 3s prime and never saw this issue.
So do you have a 3s or 3x or 3s prime?
Hello OP, can i ask if you installed that MIUI Ported ROM based in nougat? Because when i installed it (twice) y faced this issue in every rom that i flashed afterwards, then decided to clean-flash miui fastboot rom and the problem was solved.
Maybe that's your problem.
i face it in rr rom but no in dnd rom
Guys did anyone here with the sod, flash global stable/developer in edl mode?

Hello. No, I didn't try miui based on nougat.
But other users say that they notice such trouble at miui(7 android) as well.
So it isn't the cause...
Also about my phone:
Redmi 3s, 2/16, 2016030, FPC, aa1 motherboard.

Will try to flash via miflash, as I faced no problems before this SOD at 7.1.2. Always flashed my phone via twrp.
By the way, guys, my 3s sleeps well on nougat, but it isn't econom in active mod.
For example, I have made a record at our device at 6.0.1 version - 17.5 hours of screen. Nougat isn't so optimized by now... 10-11 as maximum.

Hello,
I want to install a custom rom on my G6 device. Which one is the best in your eyes? Could you also list the bugs, which you know please.
I've read several threads. They have too much pages and I think there is no custom rom with no bugs...?
Thanks for your help.

Currently using Resurrection Remix (though not the latest one) for the last 3 months.
Everything is fine except for these "bugs":
Microphone is s**t quality in calls.
Sometimes the device will freeze for a second or three after being unlocked.
5GHz hotspot is not working.
Otherwise, it's pretty good.
What about safety issues on custom roms?
Don't you have any fears that some backdoors are being added?
thx!
Most custom roms are opensource. Just look at the code yourself. If you want to be even more on the safe side, compile it yourself.

I recommend AOSPExtended, or Resurrection Remix (if you have h870) if you don't need voLTE, I'm stuck with Verizon and need voLTE in order to send/receive texts and calls, there is currently no way to get voLTE in AOSP roms (AFAIK), so I'm stuck with stock based ROMs, ended up just staying stock and waiting for voLTE fix & RR for US997 varient, as for NO bugs, doubt it, all custom ROMs have some issue (even if they are basically unnoticeable), I have yet to find one that has voLTE working on Oreo.
