S7 Edge refuses to root? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

I am really needing to root my s7 edge for various useful purposes. I tried it the first time using Odin, then it became stuck at the samsung logo (the second one), and would not stop until it ran out of battery. I had to take it to a repair shop where they fixed it but had to wipe it. I then installed firmware so that if it did screw up again, I could get it back to normal without wiping it. So I tried rooting a number of times, but it will not work and ive had to use the firmware to get it back on. Even the repair shop I took it to said they couldnt root it for whatever reason. Anyone know if this is possible to fix? Thanks

Which way did you try??? And what type of s7 edge do you have?

What are the reasons your rooting for

[Q] Unable to remove custom padlock stock lolipop

I have tried everything I can possibly think of in a short period of time, and need an answer in a hurry. The phone (Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N-900V) was rooted back when kitkat was the main OS using geohot's towelroot (or possibly kingo root I can't remember which i used after I got the phone and upgraded from ICS). I have 2 of these exact same phones, used the exact same rooting method, and unrooted by uninstalling the superuser app, rebooted, and installed the OTA update to lolipop. My phone works fine, (the one I'm typing from) however, my other phone decided to take a dump. It's a software bug between the samsung firmware and the new lolipop OS. It was working for several months, then all the sudden it wouldn't recognize/register the APN. Now it doesn't see anything just about with the phone. Not even the IMEI from the phones serial number. The sim card has been replaced twice and has worked for a matter of a few hours, however, upon restarting the phone, it goes back to no service, and nothing is registered or recognized. I reflashed the phone with the stock 5.0 Lolipop using Odin several times to no avail. My phone (one I'm using now) once did this months ago, and I was able to access the service menu and reregister the SIM card and phone has worked fine since. With this other phone, I can't get into the service menu at all because nothing is registering. So, after reflashing 4 or 5 times, factory reseting from both the OS and from recovery booting, it still has the same issue. Here is my question. It used to be when I reflashed, the custom padlock would disappear. I'm getting a new phone tomorrow, and I need to get rid of the custom padlock before I return the old phone. I can use Odin, or whatever but it has to be something, I can do while it stays stock. The knox counter has not been tripped, and the flash counter is not tripped nor showing anything on the download mode. Everything lools, and feels stock, except that custom padlock. Is there a way to get rid of that custom padlock unrooted, by reflashing? I even used a pit file to repartition, but that didn't work either. Need help A.S.A.P.!
I would just hard brick the phone just before returning it...they will just throw it out at that point and your secret will be safe.

I've thought about flashing the wrong rom too but dunno if that will work 100%. I either need to fix it, or make it 100% unrecoverable. Any advice?

Problems with S7 Edge Duos - URGENT!

Hi guys.
Today I bought a used S7 Edge Duos, but in perfect conditions.
However, I'm facing some problems and I'm not being able to solve them so I would like to ask for your help.
When I first booted the phone I got a LOGGINGSERVICE error.
Every now and then I get a popup message stating that same error , although I can use the phone normally.
What I can say is that the phones kind of stops every now and then. I owned already a regular S7 and a S7 Edge and the behaviour of mine is not normal. Even when i'm typing I get the phone stuck without explanation.
I also get a security message stating that "not allowed actions have been performed" and that I need to restart the phone to solve the.
Tried to install a update that keeps popping but every time, the update fails!
I have no knox installed and the knox counter is ZERO so the phone has not been rooted or anything that could arm the motherboard or anything like that!
I'm really worried because S7 Edge Duos is completely everything I wanted on a phone.
Can anyone help me finding solutions???
PS: Sorry if my english is not very accurate.
Flash the new firmware? Maybe...
Factory reseted? I would flash a new firm and see

Did I make jewellery out of my s7 edge? :S

I have the S7 Edge SM-G935F, which is the exynos version I believe.
It starting with unrooting, which boot looped my device. I have tried samsung kies firmware recovery but the download always stopped at a certain percentage saying an error was found in the dowloaded file. I tried to fix it by flashing what I believed was the stock bootloader with odin but that made my problem worse.
It turns on and shows a red coloured screen, and the voice assistant kicks in to babble but seems to not respond to touch at all. I think I can go into download mode, because I've seen a shop assistant get into it when I took it to see if they can fix it. Unfortunately It would cost 230 euros, which I cannot afford. And in case you are wondering, no I didn't buy the phone. I got it as a birthday gift, as I never owned a smartphone before that.
I loved trying out apps and tweaking the phone with root, but unfortunately I wasn't careful enough.
Is there any hope for me? Thanks in advance if anyone could help me out.
EDIT: Thank you to both replies! I did as you said and I downloaded the correct firmware. It seems the one I flashed before was actually incompatible. Everything works now thought, I lost all data but better than having no phone.

Go to sammobile.com, create an account & download the latest firmware for SM-G935F. Install Samsung Drivers on pc. Boot device into download mode. Extract the downloaded firmware and use odin to flash it.
In case you don't know there are 2 S7 phones, S7(930F) and S7 Edge(935F) and their firmware files are not exactly interchangeable.
I think you might flash s7 firmware on your s7e since red screen is the same symptoms when you flash S7flat kernel on S7 Edge. The fix is easy, just reflash again with the correct file.

Bricked AT&T GALAXY S6 EDGE PLUS

I was trying to root my at&t s6 edge+ using Odin. As soon as the process completed, my phone froze on Samsung screen. Then I tried wiping cache and data but nothing worked. I downloaded few stock ROM for Odin but flashing keeps on failing. I read in some thread that new Samsung devices do not support downgrading. I went and checked my current build number and found that to be G928AUCS4CPK1. However, the firmware I was trying to flash were older version.
Has anyone experienced similar issue before? The main problem here is I cannot find the exact build number anywhere. I spent a lot of time searching and finally decided to post here.
Your valuable suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
hey man, you flashed an older version of the firmware? even if it wasnt bricked, your phone is essentially useless now. the efs is gone, meaning you cant make phonecalls or connect to wifi at all. sorry; your phone is bricked. perm.
download mode dosen`t work ?if so the only thing you can try is to use samsung kies to restore your phone but don`t know if that works
I done something similar to my standard S6 Edge the only difference was i was able to start it up ok and i thought everything was ok until i realised i had no reception. I so happened to notice my imei number was gone. I had no back ups of the partition that saved this info so i totally bricked my phone.
I did however find a website that would be able to do a work around ( for a fee of course) for it however it does question your morals as its essentially illegal in alot of countries. I dont want to post anything on here so if you want any info send me a PM.
Exact same thing happened to me... went to AT&T repair center but they didn't have the 'K1' firmware..
anyhow managed to find the latest firmware (gsm-firmware.com)... cost me $4, but the phone is up and running... I only flashed the AP file.. also used Odin 3.12.5..

Latest OTA Update (dec 2017) Put my s7 edge into a Bootloop. What do I do now?

Hi, so a couple of days ago tmobile pushed an OTA update (about 49mb in size) to my phone. I confirmed the install and all seemed normal. However, upon restarting, i found my phone to be in a bootloop. I get the Samsung logo screen, then the tmobile logo screen, then my lock screen appears briefly, but then the screen goes black and it all starts over again. and again. and again. I have heard of this happening in very rare situations, I am just unsure of what to do now. Do I just take it in to a tmobile store? I have limited rooting experience and was thinking to try to use odin to flash the firmware again but i thought i should probably check here before doing so. any help would be greatly appreciated.
phone is sm-g935t running android 7.
Factory reset always does the trick.

I have same issue with my Galaxy S7, however I'm not even getting to the lockscreen, mine was rebooting after Galaxy S7 logo.
Unfortunately factory reset (via recovery) didn't help therefore phone is going to the service now.

What about smart switch? It will help you out re-flashing your device to factory stock.
