These are also untoched by stock rom flashing and fastboot also doesnt allow their flashing(fastboot just erases them) and the custom roms also dont change them!!
Chech out the moto g thread i linked
Only su in adb mode can acess them through dd command that is what the bat file does
Please bro i made that bat file so you dont have to go through the trounle of finding those partition or writing the commands so that it would be easy to help me

I have root my S4 and will make a backup from efs/imei but EFS Professional not working with the S4. How can i backup efs?
is it so hard to get a copy of ur EFS folder to safe place ?
You can use TWRP recovery to get a EFS backup
Gesendet von meinem GT-I9505 mit Tapatalk 2
You can back up a whole partition with Terminal Emulator from Play Store.
This is example made for I9505 ONLY!!!!
For I9500 use mmcblk0p3 and efs.img instead!!!
Download it , and run it, then type:
Code:
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p10 of=/mnt/sdcard/efs.img.ext4
and it will dump whole partition into one file efs.img.ext4 on your internal SD card
or
Code:
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p10 of=/mnt/extSdCard/efs.img.ext4
to save it on external SD.
If something goes wrong and you need to restore it:
Code:
su
dd if=/mnt/sdcard/efs.img.ext4 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p10
or
Code:
su
dd if=/mnt/extSdCard/efs.img.ext4 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p10
Keep it safe and enjoy

With all respect to your post, I would like to warn people that this is not working for all the models/devices. Although it might look fine when executing the commands, it might not have made a backup of EFS, but of something else... What I know for sure is that it will not work for atleast the international i9505-model of the S4, as the partition layout is different.
In my post below, more details are given on this partition id.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2276599
While executing your commands does not affect the device, it does not always give the people a backup they expect it to be, depending on their device/model. In my case you are able to verify which 'mmcblk' is actually efs on your device. It also gives a TAR backup as option.

I9500 have EFS located @ mmcblk0p3...........
thanks
I used GS2 repair from play store. It went through the usual process and I can see the back up file on the sd card. Can anybody more qualified confirm if this app works on S4?

The best thing is to check it with the developer. I do not know what file has been created, although I expect it to be a raw copy using dd. The best thing is to do it manually. Or by the instructions given by djembey, or by the more detailed step-by-step instructions in the thread of my previous post here.
Hey, I managed to backup the EFS folder. Is there any way to modify the backup file and restore it after the modification? I want to change the IMEI number but unfortunately I have no box / cables available to do so. There must be a solution?! I am currently living in Turkey and they restrict western mobile phone usage for foreign people.
thanks a lot

Hi Folks,
well i've just managed to recover a Galaxy S3 /EFS without JTAG and without ANY backup other than a dd of the damaged EFS partition which is /dev/block/mmcblk0p3
I am looking for other users with the following conditions
you must have a copy of you efs partition before any modifications , eg. as soon as you efs went wrong you dd'ed /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 and kept a copy before trying anything else. If you worked on the /efs before or select efs clear in oding then this wont work.
I am not going to post the solution yet, it requires more research but it's a possible solution, may even transfer to other devices with exynos and a /efs partition.
Possible ways to confirm efs damage
1. system stays on Galaxy s3 logo and does not show animated boot logo
2. cwm wont mount /efs
3. e3 recovery wont list csc files
if the above is the same as here then let me know.
No PM's please, i want to keep the work public.

Sorry MODS, please move to Samsung Galaxy SIII , general, miss-post i was tired

I've only just got my first bricked S4 in yesterday and only completed it's screen replacement today. The screen is only damged due to owner giving up on it and litting it sit on his desk util something was dropped on it.
Anyway, my point of this is I am not ready to do S4 debrick as I 'am still working on S3.
The key behind my 'possible' recovery method is my solution involves searching for certain MAGIC's in the /EFS backup and also knowing exactly where in the efs image data would be.
For example, key areas of a EFS are in the same sector of the memory each time when looking at a mmcblk0p3 backup image,
i will use mac address as a example.
in the 5 so far efs backups i've examined the mac address is at offset 0x30000, so even if you cannot read the actual efs partition and using fsck on the mmcblk0p3 fail, my part one trick involves just going to 0x30000 and reading the data back. without the efs file system being involved. The same trick i used to recovery the blown boot sector and partition table of the SHV-E160L.
the second trick is to look for keywords within the backup img, example lets say the IMEI always had 0xAA 0xAA 0xAA before it, and the data required was 400 byte, we simply look for 0xAA 0xAA 0xAA in the file and copy it and the next 400 bytes.
the final trick I wont release yet, jumping the gun (as people do) will result in a JTAG brick, it's not perfect, its not a one click solution that we all want, but it's early days yet, but the method does work, i've 5 sammy's in front of me to prove it.
My rep in the Korean galaxy note section should prove I am not threading for likes too
Final note, Its a work in progress and I am using the forum to post my thoughts and look for Guinea pigs and attract other developers to documents the Samsung /efs system.
I am aware that parts are hashed and encrypted, the goal is not decrypting it but to recover the information to revive the device.
I am expecting users to share their /EFS backups with me, but I will not share those files with others to protect the users IMEI,
my issue is i don't have enough differing /efs files to build a bigger picture, what if the file locations was just luck ?
oh, if anyone has a copy of testdisk for arm, please share, i am fighting to get it to compile for arm-eabi-none- grrrrrr.
darkspr1te
Another note: I've not taken into account fragmentation of data in my above post, i was keeping that out of it for now, but i am aware of the EXT2/3 file table setup, how nodes can be split up.

Hi
if you have working phone,You can read dump from her and write to bricked device with this command(root required):::
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/unbrick.bin bs=1024 count=?
*** "?" mean any size you want..usually 256mb is enough ...so "Count is 262144"
--
But if you don't have working device,Please contact me via ICQ .... I have my own dump ...but for some reason i can't upload in any where, just can upload directly into your pc

So, you will need YOUR WORKING phone, root and terminal emulator
For backup open emulator and write:
su
(your phone will ask you for root acces)
dd if=dev/block/mmcblk0p3 of=removable/MicroSD/mmcblk0p3.img
dd if=dev/block/mmcblk0p5 of=removable/MicroSD/mmcblk0p5.img
(MicroSD is name of my cd card, so if your sdcard name is storage you will use this command: ...of=removable/storage/mmcblk0p3.img or mmcblk0p5.img)
-now you have your imei restored in your sdcard
For restore:
you will need YOUR i say again YOUR backuped mmcblk, of you will use ANOTHER mmcblk0p3 you will get fake imei (some like 0004488xxxx) and your calling will never work.
so, open again terminal:
su
(your phone will ask you for root acces)
dd if=removable/MicroSD/mmcblk0p3.img of =dev/block/mmcblk0p3

(MicroSD is name of my cd card, so if your sdcard name is storage you will use this command: dd if=removable/storage/mmcblk0p3.img or mmcblk0p5.img.....)
now restart phone , and open dialer y will see for some secund "actualising database of contacts"
then press *#06*
you will see your imei
this works !! i sayed beacuse after instal tanks alfa AOSP 5.0 i got "fake" imei, but thanks got i have backuped my imei so i restored them i its work
IF THIS INSTRUCTION WILL NOT WORK
1) you have propably motherboard broblem i have them too, and repair is very expensive ( more then 100 euros), so pls control your dev/block/ ind try found mmcblk0p3 or mmcblk0p5 if you have it in dev/block/ i have bad masege for you , you will need new motherboard, but good massage is then you didnt lost your imei in fact:

If anyone is facing this problem then Download Firmware from Asus site. Make sure it's same sku and variant, flash or sideload or install it from sd card method. After installation, power off and charge ur phone for 5-6 hours. Boot into phone let it Complete the boot process.. Check ur IMEI it would be fix.

Hello,
Follow this link.. This method works every time. And I must also warn u, the imei gets null whenever we downgrade from custom firmware, it's a bug.

Format /data (not wipe!) from TWRP and then the errors about mounting /data will be gone. Note that this will wipe your internal memory, so you better backup your stuff before doing this.
Hi all,
No need to format data here link for twrp recovery
developped by @Mactavish.
Same as you i have an MLA-L11, and it work perfect

sound great (u have the same device)
sorry iam noob so let me ask u question
when my device was bricked i unbricked it using this thread >> https://forum.xda-developers.com/nova-plus/help/to-stock-using-fastboot-t3708585 by #Henkate
and download this frimware from here >> https://www.getdroidtips.com/b350-nougat-huawei-nova-plus/
and now my mla l11 works good
then i download huawei updater finder and found a update (2018.01.12) and i think its the last update
so i donwloaded it with (huawei update finder) .. (FULLOTA-MF) and (OTA-MF) its name (MLA-L11C432B361)
so i want to flash it but i dont know how
Note : i dont have Update on setting menu O.O
sorry for my bad english and my stupid brain xD !
Updating is depending on your region and cust, don't flush any update if it is not for you region.
Regions are defined by end letters in cust
Exmp: mine is meaf c185d001
Meaf: meadle east africa
And if your device work good why want you update it, only if it's for android 8
For the missing update botton in your menu, i think you haven't cust too
In what about phone in parameter, the cust line is missing i think
And what about theme manager ?

What is parameter ?!
Theme manger doesn't work and I tried a lot of method like create (hw_init) folder and give it permissions ...
Do you know how to solve it please
In about phone, and last line where the cust number is missing for you, no ?
And there's a thread on this forum to fix it
And i had this problem, and fixed it with creating hw_init folder
Redoo the instructions carefully and it will succed
If not, you have to flash cust.img ( you get it with update extracter) with fastboot method ( not tested !)

Before i have an ascend P7, and cust problem was solved by an update.app for cust partition delivered by huawei.
For nova there's no cust update.app from huawei

1.
Cust number is missing I can't find it in about phone
Okay I will going to extract it
Will I flash it with trwp (you gave to me) ?
2.
I tried all the method on this forum to fix this problem and failed ( theme changer )
Let me explain the ( theme changer ) error :
When I open app (themes) it open but not show anything (blank page) .. I tried install themes from play store and it's appear on theme manger and when I click apply nothing happen !
Hope you can help me with this problem
1- No cust.img fashed in fastboot mode not TWRP
2- I create a video how to create hw_init folder for themes, hope can help you
3- For cust partion i create a TWRP backup for you, hope can help you too
to restore cust backup, first you need to create a backup for any partition from your recovery
( the reason is that Twrp create a folder for your backups in your SDcard )
then replace files in your Twrp folder by mine, and choose restore cust partition from recovery
i haven't tested it, i only want to help you
i will give you links when upload is finished if you want
before doing any thing from my last post i want to try another method
i have a file to fix cust partition you can try it, if not succeed then try the other method
it's for europe region custom.bin file, extract archive and with root explorer from your phone
go to Root and Data search custom.bin file ( it's in the end ) save your original file by copying it
then replace it by the one given ( change permission to 0644 )
reboot and see if the problem is solved

my device bricked after reboot :/ after putting ur coustme.bin and gave it perrmission
now lets stratr from 0 (fresh start) tell me the right firmware for my device cuz i was flash eu version
what can i do now !!
yes if you want official update you have to revert back to stock recovery, and i think 2 other things:
1- delete root by flashing stock boot file
2- relock bootloader
for links here the 2 links:

i will put update file on dload and upgrade (is that required locked bootloader ciz mine is unlocked) !
is that right or what tell me ur opinion!
yes it's true not in zip file, extract it and put update.app file in dload folder

yeah i see ! but is that required locked bootloader ?!
and there's no reason that TWRP can't mount partitions, i don't know why, it works for me
i have briked it when i flashed superuser and delete supersu files by recovery file manager
by the way tell me if you succeed by flashing a fresh update
