Data/mobile drops in and out? - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I used to bust my buddy's balls about how I had great signal (Verizon Note 3) and he had a crappy signal (AT&T Note 2) at my work and home.
Literally, less than two months ago, my signal has become horrible. I've tried Safe Mode to see if it's an app causing issues but apparently it's not. My Note 3 is turning into a paperweight. I'm constantly on 1x or no signal in places I used to have 2 bars of 4g. I can't make/receive calls and texting is no longer optional.
He's running his Note 2 100% stock.
My Note 3 has bootloader unlocked and is rooted. I'm using the stock ROM.
I'm gonna toss out some info hoping someone can help me figure this out:
Model: SM-N900V
Android Version: 5.0
Baseband: N900VVRUEOF1
Kernel Version: 3.4.0 [email protected] #1
Build Number: LRX21VN900VVRUEOF1
I could go on but hoped this information would be a good start.
I can torch the phone and start over but would like to leave that as my last option. I could reinstall a previous nandroid backup and see what happens. Hell, I just need to get this phone working like it did two months ago!!
I'd love to get the Galaxy S8+ but having a non-rooted phone would be tough for me.
Thoughts? Suggestions?

Did you remove the back and see if any of the screws around the edge are loose?

Holy crap, I just removed the back and tightened every screw available. My signal is better than I've seen in a while. I don't know if it's "cured" but it sure made a difference.
Thanks for the heads up on that!

Build/Radio/Baseband of AT&T Nexus S from Best Buy

I upgraded my phone and gave my sister my Nexus S recently. We work in the same office and for some reason she loses connection to the network while she's there. I never had this issue when I was using it and don't have the issue with my new phone. I have an odd feeling that when I reset the phone the radio or something that it uses to restore the phone were different than what was on it when it shipped.
So to make this post a little shorter, could somebody who purchased their AT&T Nexus S from Best Buy please list their build, radio, etc.? Especially if you bought it during the promo when it was free.
Did this happen after u Updated to 2.3.6?

naw. phone's on 2.3.4. and i'm PRETTY sure it was 2.3.4 when I had it.
Well I'm on AT&T ... the best Radio For Me is The KB3 Radio. Stronger Signal.. Better 3G Downloads (3-4 mbps) I've reached 5 mbps since I did the HSDPA Tweak .. =]

no issues what so ever.
i reset the device once, but that was after my wife decided that she just cannot use a touch screen, so i took the phone for myself. i ran it for about a week with the factory build/radio/firmware until last night, i unlocked the BL and installed a custom cm7 rom.

[Q] My Samsung S4 att drops signal

Giants,
I have my 32 gb samsung s4 since the end of 2012, however, I have been flashing a lot of roms with no issue. the problem started a week ago when the display has been broken and I changed it. Everything went okay for 3 days, suddenly, it starts to drop signal with no reason. I flashed the rom again "liquidsmooth rom" and I flashed another rom, I even flashed the modem again. I tried to search for the problem, I don't know if the brokee of my display ambact the signal or it is a software issue. Now, I am using liquidsmooth 4.4.4.
I have been testing my Sim card in other phone, it works perfectly. I have tried other sims in my phone it gives me the same issue. another thing I want to mention is that after this problem I have never get 3G or 3g+, I always get 2G or No signal.
Omar,
It's a long shot but maybe your apn settings changed check them. Not sure if it will work but worth a try.

[Update]
Dears,
I'm struggling with the phone I don't know if I lost it or I can fix the problem. New thing happened outside of my home I got 3g+ and some time I got 3g. However, I am outside the US, I don't have LTE over here.
Would anyone give me an advice how do I know if it's IT issue or it’s Technical issue.
I've been looking forward your comments guys. Anyone can help?
I'm having the same issue. Any help?

[Q] [T-Mobile] VZW S5 Poor Performance on T-Mobile - Bad ROM?

Hello All,
I have 2 Verizon Wireless Galaxy S5s running on T-Mobile, but the performance is awful.
LTE is highly unstable
Overall radio signal in the same place can go from 4 bars to 0
Text messages don't send 1/2 the time, especially over Wi-Fi
Currently I'm running Rick'sRom V20 on 4.4.4 NK2.
I do not want to have to sell the S5 to buy a T-Mobile handset, as I have heard others having good experience taking other World-Devices from VZW to T-Mo without these sort of issues.
Is there anything I can do to improve this? Flash any newer ROM or radio?
Please let me know, thank you!

Wouldn't hurt to try different modems to see if one works better than the next. Here is an article on how to see what band your phones are operating on. My understanding is you need to be on band 4. I checked to see if this works on the galaxy s5 and it does. Mine is running on band 4.

How would you say your performance has been? Do you ever experience the phantom changes in signal strength like I had indicated above?

Never. I've been running different versions of RicksRom since back when we first got root and I was on NGC 4.4.2. Never any issues at all.

[Q] SM-N910A vs SM-N910T

From looking at the radio specs for both the SM-N910A and SM-N910T, it appears that the 910T is capable of operating on the AT&T network equally as well as the 910A. Meaning, that the 910T's radio covers all the bands the 910A does, and a little bit more. Is my reasoning sound?
Thanks for the help people. I really appreciate it.
Yes, the N910T will work on AT&T. I have been using my N910T on AT&T for 6 months with no issues. I get a better signal with my Note 4 than I got with my AT&T Note 3. You will need to sim unlock it if it isn't already unlocked. You can get a code for $30 from cellunlocker.net.
Thanks for the reply

Thanks for the reply! Glad to hear my analysis was correct. I went ahead and took the plunge on the 12th and bought a used N910T that was already sim unlocked, thus the lateness in my reply as I've been monkeying around with the phone and not paying much attention to my email.
I miss the GUI simplicity of CM11 M12 that I was running on my S4. I am also annoyed that they decided to replace the hardware (built-in software?) menu button with whatever the history button is called. I find myself hitting the history button quite a bit out of long habit of the menu button being in its place. I really think I'm going to have to see if I can do something about changing that button's functionality as I'm quite happy with a double-click of the true hardware button presenting the history.
Other than these trivial bits I'm happy with the phone, and hope I don't get a serious case of Note 5 envy when it comes out. Won't happen if they decide to continue the S6 design changes with the Note 5 (non-replaceable battery and lack of microSD card).
Again, thanks for the info.
Smart move as the N910A is a piece of **** and can't be rom-ed or rooted.

Is it me or is AT&T software absolutely crap?!!

Like the tittle says. I've owned a tmobile s7 edge for 7 months. Works greats till I intentially broke the screen with my Keychain(testing scratch) en pink line develop tmobile insurance is horrible couldn't get me a new phone. I've noticed the at&t s7 edge suffers from horrible battery life compared to tmobile s7 edge...has way more bloatware. And takes more time to charge while using phone on at&t. Not just my s7 edge. Whole family. I have 2 s7 edge on tmobile.

I just switched from t-mobile to att and noticed the battery life being a major issue. Charging seems the same. The first one I got on Christmas eve lasted 10 days, updated all software to November update day one, crashed it after rooting 5 times in 10 days, then the touch screen went out in lower right hand side. Replaced it, didn't update software, rooted, no problems, other than shorter than normal battery life.

The android system is taking 29% while android OS taking another 19% unplugged my phone last night and even put it on power save while I went to sleep. At 95% woke up with 90% throughout the day I am getting bad battery life. Quite disappointed

Now I have an issue where phone goes into 3G and stays there. Won't go back to LTE or even 4G. Have 15 days. Today is 12th taking it back tomorrow. Sticking with tmobile. Good luck. You guys going to need it

I am on ATT with ATT variant but flashed with Tmobile firmware. Faster data speeds, doesn't overheat and lag, more control in debloating, and no ATT crapware. So I get the coverage I need with ATT but better performance with Tmobile firmware on ATT's own network. On another post it was speculated that ATT must have some kind of limiter in its firmware that Tmobil's does not. Must be true because the results are repeatable. ATT was averaging around 27mb/6mb vs 60mb/20mb on Tmobile firmware. This despite Tmobile firmware not having a couple of the radio bands ATT network uses. Same place. Same phone. Same towers. Different firmwares.

Can you let me know what you're using and how you did it for AT&T with the T-Mobile firmware? I've been at work off and on my phone and down to 35% after 6 hours of just on time.
Go to the following link to get the Tmobile firmware-
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/how-to/odin-apk1-tmobile-tmbg935ttmb4apk1-t3494724
If you get an SHA-256 error during flash with latest Odin, you will need the Princecomsy modified Odin to get past it. I got it from the following forum-

You will loose wifi calling and video calling. Everything else works. I then disabled some of the bloatware. Phone is awesome now.
*On a humorous note, my wife complains about it not being fair that on those occasions I play Pokemon Go with her and the kids, everything shows up first on my phone before theirs. I keep telling her that when she is ready I would change her firmware to T-mobile's as well. That is the difference between our phones and it is consistent. My GPS locks are faster than hers on ATT firmware as well.

If you use T-Mobile why not just flash their firmware? You would have all the features. You would only use WiFi calling if you actually use AT&T service.

I was tempted to flash the unlocked fw, but I don't want to lose HD voice/enhance LTE Services. I might back up and flash it anyway to compare the two. I hate having disable over 90 apps and services on my g935a just to feel more comfortable using it.
