Dear XDA members, my friend have bricked his phone after trying to update to lollipop 5.1.1 from 5.0.1.
Error message: "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.location has stopped"
I have wiped cache via recovery, boot into safe mode, and even factory reset wipe data but still getting the same error.
I have searched for ways to flash stock using google/xda and i was instructed to download the stock firmware and flash via adb in recovery.
However in my recovery, there was no option to "Update via ADB".
The only options available are, 1)reboot system now 2)Apply update from internal storage 3)Apply update from external storage 4)Wipe data/factory reset 5)Wipe cache partition 6)Apply update from cache.
Current phone model Asus A500KL, WW variant ( i suppose? got it from recovery version as stated below.)
Recovery version 1.8 KOT49H.WW_Phone-11.4.6.94-20141218
From here, i believe the updated firmware the phone is running on is 11.4.6.94, and thus, i have downloaded 3 version of the stock firmware to flash, UL-ASUS_T00P-WW-12.4.5.58-user, UL-ASUS_T00P-WW-11.4.6.88-user and UL-ASUS_T00P-WW-11.4.6.94-user
I also have the downgrade version from Android L to KK which is WW_A500KL-11.4.6.94-20141218_M3.5.22-ota-user.zip
I am uncertain which version will unbrick the phone and put it into the brand new state. (Also, please tell me if the version i downloaded is correct for the phone)
*All of the versions are downloaded from Asus itself.
I would appreciate if someone can tell me how and which version of the stock rom to be flashed.
*Note that the phone is stuck at the error i have mentioned above, and there is no option to sideload or flash via adb in the recovery. It was running on android 5.0.1 before the update, and the 5.1.1 update caused it to be soft bricked.
Will it be possible if i were to just move the 11.4.6.94 downgrade version into my SD card and choose on "Apply update from External storage?",, likewise for the other older version?
Would it be wise if i were to flash the same version again (not the downgrade version) and see if it works?
Does it sound like a Hardware of software issue?
Any reply will be greatly appreciated!
Have you tried reflashing the firmware?

Ps: i am the OP friend with the bricked phone
I am unable to use the phone at all
That is my question.
Which version should I flash via adb Fast boot ( I don't have update via adb option in recovery).
Will it work If I transfer the same firmware version to the phone sd And update from there? ( does same version allow update from external storage?)

Try flashing UL-ASUS_T00P-WW-11.4.6.94-user via adb sideload.

i mentioned twice in both the first post and the 3rd post that i don't have that option in my recovery. I only have update from cache, update from internal storage, and update from external storage. I would appreciate to know if using the apply update from external storage option would fix the phone as the version number is exactly the same and thus, it would be not installed as it is not "an update". Currently we do not have an sd card with us, and is unable to push the file into the internal memory, so would really appreciate if someone can guide me on whether getting an sd card and moving the same firmware version into the sd to apply update from external storage will works.

i also have the same issue, i tried sd update but it fails, no sideload option in recovery and bootloader locked
did U found any solution??
I know this might sound as a stupid question, and I'll probably get a stupid answer, but I wanned to ask a question, to which I haven't found an answer elsewhere.
okay, so I have a huawei p8 lite (ALE-L21) phone which is "softbricked" when I flashed a .zip file using TWRP recovery menu, it somehow deleted the content of my /system folder and the phone just won't boot (there's no huawei logo animation)... so... I checked the huawei home page for the stock firmware and it shows me only one available.."ALE-L21V100C432B170". but my phones build number was "ALE-L21C30B121" (if I remember correctly) will I be able to flash that firmware via fastboot? (I have my phone rooted, and bootloader is unlocked) won't there be any "regional" restrictions or something else? please help me :'(
hope I'll get a reply, early thanks

With unlocked bootloader you can flash any firmware but I don't have any idea whether or not root access will create problem.
Just do step 1 from this tutorial:

Glad to know that.
Thanks for the hint with mfastboot!!!
I stuck trying root B524. TWRP wipe everything incl. system -> stupid /system gone. not able to reflash via fastboot. (boot, recovery, cust worked) but mfastboot did "recreate"(?) and flashed system.
... but not all was allright again. No Sim available, baseband and IMEI gone after direct flashes.
starting from B52, Fix for balong and B170 brought Sim back. now B188.
One problam stays: my internal mem is 2,40GB. Free rather nothing.
How can I get the lost memory back?

i was have this problem before
and solved when i maked a OTA update ^_^ just check, download, and install ^_^
OTA updates did not help.
internal mem 2,40GB, 200MB free
the app DiskInfo tells me:
Data (userdata)
mmcblk0p40
Used: 10,6GB
Free: 224MB
Total space: 10,8GB
Mount Point: /data
File system: ext4
Access type: Read/Write
Block size: 4KB
Partition name: mmcblk0p40
Partition nickname: Data
Partition label: userdata
Partition number: 8
Partition type: BLKEXT
Device: Internal Storage (mmcblk0)
Device type: MMC
Internal from above and the userdata patition are the "same", right?
How can I format this Partition to get it empty and useable again?
edit: twrp, wipe, advanced wipe, data, repair or change file system, resize fixed it
Hi Guys...
I have no idea how you guys deal with these problems, and I take my hat off to you. Asking for help is never my first option, and this is what probably leads to more problems than a resolution. I have no choice. I have to send my pride to his room right now...sigh...
I was trying to install ViperOneM9_4.3.0.

Under the impression that once the phone is in current state, I can install Custom ROM.
I loaded ViperOne unto Phone Storage and used TWRP Recovery to install zip. Install reported success and phone was rebooted.
Phone now stuck in reboot loop.
I may have made matters worse by erasing cache and deleting system folder, etc...
I did make a TWRP recovery backup. I have those files.
I've also downloaded numerous files, including 2PRGIMG_HIMAR_UHL_L50_SENSE70_hTC_Asia_TW_1.03.709.13_Radio_1.1506V24P52.2508.0910_HT[W.T]_release_454911_signed_2_4.
I get "invalid sparse file format at header magi" error when using..
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip rom.zip
Much thanks for any assistance offered...
You're trying to run 6.0 twrp and roms on top of 5.0 firmware. That's the problem. You need to update your firmware to MM.

Ok, so you're saying TWRP currently installed is the wrong one? ...but it's working. I can finally boot into recovery mode.
What would be my solution? As of now, if I unplug the phone from the USB cable, it does not reboot, it's just there with a blank screen and a flashing orange light.

What he meant was your base firmware is on Lollipop and you are trying to flash a marshmallow rom over the top. They are not compatible.
You need to either flash a Lollipop based rom or update your "FIRMWARE" to marshmallow and then flash a marshmallow based rom (viper 4.3.0) over the top and it'll work.
You're s-off. You can flash unsigned zips to update to marshmallow. Simple and fast. (cid might cause issues and need changing temporarily).
Beamed in by telepathy.
Is the M9e (codename: HIMAR) even compatible with roms made for the M9 (codename: HIMA)? Since it already needs a different TWRP than the M9 I highly doubt that you can use the Viper rom on your phone.
Edit: I just googled the specs of the M9e. It's a mediatek device which means you definitely cannot use M9 roms.

Hi Guys..
Sorry for no reply... It's a leap year and leap years, mean pure problems.
I have backup files via TWRP on the PC. In TWRP recovery option, I do not see any Backups to restore, probably because I wiped everything.
Can I use the backup files on my PC to restore the phone?
Thanks...

Hi,
I am new to the P9 lite forum, just received my P9 lite last week.
I am quite experienced with flashing my Galaxy S2 and from what I read so far Huawei is quite different in some aspects.
I would like to raise a few general questions:
1. Can I debrand my device with only flashing a new stock ROM or do I also need to flash an oeminfo? (I do have C150, so it would be C432 for me)
2. What of the following is possible without bootloader unlocking?
- flashing a stock rom
- flashing a stock recovery
- flashing an oeminfo
3. Does the device stay unlocked, whatever I flash, or does the bootloader automatically get locked as soon as I flash a stock ROM and or recovery?
4. Unlocking the device fpr dual SIM does not have any disadvantages, so I still could use an SD Card in 2nd Sim slot, right?
5. Is the /data partition encrypted in stock firmware?
6. In case it is encrypted, this would mean my SD Card also getting encrypted if I install it as internal memory?
7. This is hard question and only guesses can be made, but do you believe this device could get an official Lineage OS eventually? From what I can see, at least the P8 lite got an official status with CyanogenMod.
8. Could I make an image /system (ROM) and would be able to reflash it? I guess not in a way ROMs get normally delivered (zip) and it would not be signed, so it could not be flashed with a locked bootloader. I am aware that a dd image could work with root and unlocked bootloader.
9. Is there a seperate partition like on Samsung devices, where the IMEI is stored and which should be backuped before flashing?
10. What is the /cust partition for?
Some questions are only for general understanding, as I am going to root and debrand it eventually.
push
1. Some people flashed stock ROM but their region remained the same, so if you want to change region you have to flash oeminfo.
2. Without unlocking bootloader the only thing you can do is to flash stock ROM.
3. The device will relock only if you flash stock ROM through the three buttons mode, flashing a zip will keep the device unlocked.
4. Yes, unlocking dual sim still allow you to use SD card. I did it without problem.
5. Yes Huawei has encrypted data partition.
6. If you use SD card as internal storage it will be encrypted, and if you remove it, the only way to use it again is to format it.
7. I don't think we will ever get official LineageOS, but hope is the last to die .
8. You can flash a zip only through TWRP (so with unlocked bootloader), otherwise it will not work.
9. As I know it's not necessary to backup IMEI if you don't do very weird thing with your phone.
10. Cust should be where oeminfo is stored (I think?), If I am wrong, someone correct me .
Thanks for your answer.
So basically de-branding is only possible, if you unlock your bootloader and therefore can flash a different oeminfo?
Refereing encrypted as internal formated SD Card. Shouldn't it be possible to decrypt via Linux CLI with cryptsetup....? Or is Android not using dm-crypt?

I have not tried to debrand as my device was stock, but you should try first to flash the stock firmware (B160 suggested).
Anyways in EMUI the function to use SD card as internal storage is disabled by default because of Huawei security policy I guess, but some users found a way to enable it in fastboot if I remember correctly. I don't know if it's possible to decrypt it in Linux sorry :/
Hello, I registered for the beta test emui 5.0 in france. In the meantime, do you think I can reinstall b336.zip and returned to MM when they go to publish ota beta-nougat.
Okay so I have a desire 816 dual SIM A5 DUG S-on model, and wanted to update it to LL then MM in order to use external storage as internal to expand storage.
Tried the OTA update but failed (red triangle appears halfway through the process)
So I decided to try and flash custom Rom's; I unlocked boot loader and installed custom recovery then flashed this Rom:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-816/general/official-rom-desire-816-dual-sim-a5dug-t3552060
After several attempts (both with CWM & TWRP) I got it running, but WiFi wasn't working. Thankfully I made a backup of my stock kitkat before flashing, so I restored it.
After some research here, I found that I needed the LL firmware in order for the WiFi to function, and cannot update to MM directly from kitkat...
Please help, what should I do?
I remember reading something about downloading the OTA package, unzip it and extract firmware.zip then flash it, which should solve the problem. Is that right?
Thanks

you can relock bootloader and run a RUU with your region or you must s-off, change to super ID and run any RUU. Good luck
