I have a 930V with the 930U build installed that I have been running on Straight talk verizon towers for months on MM with no problems. Upgraded to the G930U Nougat build when it first came out and still had no problems. Last week I upgraded to the latest G930UUEU4BQE2 build on Verizon Straight Talk and my SMS problems started.
I can send MMS with no problems. When I try to send a SMS text the person I am sending to to will receive it just fine but on my end it times out and says message not sent. I can receive texts and MMS just fine.
When I send another text, it tries to resend again all the texts that have timed out only to time out again and say messages not sent.
I have reinstalled all builds before the latest 4BQ2 and they all work ok with SMS and MMS with no problems, it is just the most current build 4BQE2 and only on Verizon Straight Talk.
Changing to a AT&T Straight Talk Sim with the 4BQ2 build and everything works ok.
Anyone else having these problems and have figured out what is going on?
I too have this problem. I was beginning to believe an app was running the phone in the background making it unable to send messages. And I was not receiving messages either I have found that darling my voicemail and hanging up immediately I receive text messages and all outgoing messages are sent.
I reset the phone because I found a dea running service that I searched on Google to find that my medication could be the reason this service was running. Weird!!! Freaked me out, I reset the phone and no longer see the service running.
Also...i have noticed that if I pull the notification menu down, the nearby devices button would be blue and quickly change to gray. Have you noticed this?
Lastly, I'm unable to restart in safe mode on either my s7 or s6 both with nougat update, both are Verizon builds running straight talk sim network

I remember reading a similar problem you had before. Did you recently transfer and use your SIM on another phone?
The other person used his or her SIM on another phone when he/she got the message, but transferred the SIM on his/her Universal, creating the same notification you now are experiencing.
The solution according to him/her was to put the SIM back to the phone where you originally received the voicemail message and delete it from there. Once that you are sure there are no more messages, then put the SIM back to your Universal.
I get this sometimes with Orange UK.
Just call your phone provider and ask them to clear the notification from their end.
It basically happens when you delete your last message in your voicemail and you lose reception in between the time you finish clearing your voicemail and your service provider sending the voicemail indicator clearing flag.
The problem I usually get is if I am on international roaming I sometimes dont even get the flag coming up so messages build up (even when I come back to the UK) and only know about it when someone complains that I havent called them back after they left me a message.
Maybe this is just a problem with Orange UK ... not sure
It's not a problem with O2, they don't use the voicemail notification system, they just send a text!
So re-rooted last night, sms isn't working, everything else is working great, but sms isn't working

Are you running 935U or 935A firmware? What caused you to re-root?
I ask because I recently flashed back to 935A PG1 firmware from 935U, and when Enhanced LTE is enabled it prevents me from sending and probably receiving sms. It just fails immediately. When it's disabled, sms/mms works.
I have altered the ims ATT .xml file in /efs/sec_efs as recommended by @najoor, but it still isn't working.
Been on g935a firmware only on here, will try that
Ended up changing the roaming settings and somehow fixed it
I opened a thread on this issue over on ATT forums. Since the last update, whenever I try to send a MMS with Enhanced Messaging turned on, the failure rate is unacceptable. I send photos to my brother, who also has this phone, and has his turned on, and out of 4 photos. 1-2 will almost always fail. It seems that this also happens when photos are fired off in a rapid succession.

Same issue here, which is why I switched to the U firmware. I like using the default messaging app (for once) with this phone because it matches the themes. My boyfriend and I send a lot of MMS back and forth, and we were constantly asking one another to resend. He has the LG G5 fully stock. Not sure if his phone has the advanced messaging or not. Since I went with the U version, the issue has resolved. However my friend who still has the S5 active has been sending me "long text messages" all week (which I'm assuming transfers into a MMS) and I have not received them at all. I don't know if it is an issue with my phone or her's (which she is complaining is slooowwwww).
Hey guys, so yesterday I had to reflash to my stock g30v firmware on pe1. After being rooting since late june, Went by for a day and a half not noticing I wasn't receiving any sms messages. Tried to wipe cache, many reboots and many apps to no avail. Always showed "mobile network not available." Yet I still had 4g and was able to go on social media and my chrome browser. After I odin'd back to stock I received over 75 new sms messages. Stumped.
Want to re-root again but with my job, I can't risk having this happen again
Thanks in advance
Did you do a factory reset yet?
As stated in the first part of the op, die to this I had to reflash to stock, starting fresh. That's when I got a days and a half with of sms messages, everything is back to normal, but was wondering if anyone else had this issue. Want to re-root but can't if this is gonna happen again
What i've found after root is that i have to make a phone call after rebooting or i dont recieve calls/texts or have capability of sending texts untill i make a call yet Data still works..

I had this issue a lot with U firmware so I am sticking stock. Actually I just got the no signal icon and 4g data OR when I got voice working with sms a 3g w/roaming icon.
To start, I'm on Android 7.0 using the September security patch and am rooted.
Never had an issue with this phone before. Ever since yesterday morning I have not been able to receive anyone's text messages. I'm not sure about MMS but I haven't gotten any of those either. The weird thing is that I can SEND texts just fine....and I can also send text messages to myself and they come through.
After digging and researching I accessed that hidden settings menu by typing *#*#4636#*#* into my dialer and looking at the SMSC number which should be for Tmobile, my provider, +12063130004. However, it's blank and I'm unable to change it. Hitting "update" gives me an "update error" in the field and if I hit refresh I get "+12063130004",145 with the quotes and the 145. If I hit update from there and reboot it's still blank. If I put in +12063130004 and reboot it's still blank.
I have data, I can make and receive calls and surf the web. So far I've tried switching sms apps to no avail. I'm currently using google messenger. I've tried removing the sim and placing it back in. I went in to TWRP wiped cache, dalvich cache and data and it did nothing. Finally I reverted to a nandroid I made about a month ago when sms was working fine and it's still not working.
I'm out of ideas fellas. At my wit's end here!
Oh, I should also let you know that I think this all started when my girlfriend sent me a text message that i received yesterday morning. It was the last text I was able to get......she's on a cruise so she sent it somewhere near mexico....I think it made my phone have a massive brain fart and I'm not sure how to fix this bug. Please help!!
No one? I've found nothing on the web..
This may sound obvious, but have you tried using a factory image to return to stock?
Sounds like you've done everything but that.
I suppose you could also try deleting your APN and manually entering a correct one for your carrier. That's helped me in the past on other devices when I've had weird data/service issues.
Funny you asked. I did a full wipe and returned to stock on the latest November build. Still a no go. People still get my texts and I can still use data/make and receive calls fine. I'll try the APN suggestion now.
As far as APN's go, I tried to reset them to default. I even tried deleting all of them except for the one I was using which in the past for other devices helped with certain issues. I then created a custom APN setting that I found on the 6p forum that helped other users with SMS/MMS issues....no help for me.
I can still send SMS,mms, make and receive phone calls. No idea what to do!!!
I have a similar but different issue. I can receive messages just fine. But sometimes when i send messages id say about 40% of the time my message gets stuck at the "sending" and it takes sometimes up to 10min for it to send. I can speed the process up if i go to the secret menu and toggle the radio off and on.
Im on ATT BTW. I thought it had something to do with ATT shutting down the 2G network and the phone getting confused as to which network to send messages on but im no expert its just a theroy.
PS. I had this problem pop out of nowhere. Had it start randomly on PN6 (last build) so i upgraded to PN7 same thing on 2 different versions of the ROM. And now im on SuperAx 7.1 and still have the issue.
Ive always had problems with Nexus's and messages. When i had the Nexus 5 i actually had to warranty it out because MMS all of a sudden would not work at all.
I received one text today from someone. That's it. Not getting all the missed sms messages and not getting any additional sms messages.
My s8 has not been receiving sms messages since Friday and it's quite annoying. I've tried resetting network settings , removing sim card I've even done a factory reset still no luck. Anyone else having this issue ?
Mine started doing this a few weeks ago as well?? Not really sure how long it's been going on now, could have been going on for months for all I know?
I've tried:
Yaata
Textra
Chomp
Pulse
and the stock messenger...
It *mainly* seems to be from iPhone users, but I get them fine from my wife and some friends that use iPhones.......So, it's not all the time?
It can be in the same thread too? I'll have some replies, but then they just stop..... I'll call them up and ask if they got my text, and they'll send me a screen shot (to my email) that shows they've been replying?
Any fix? On the latest At&t version.
